2nd time at colonial and impressed both time . Good service, delicious food. Pesto aioli is addicting. We had 2 salads and an omelette, plus cheesecake, all excellent.

Excellent food, good service. The only negative is that it can get really loud when it's crowded, but that's true of every diner, isn't it? The fantastic food makes up for it, and let's face it...the food is why we go to diners.

Amazing food with huge portion sizes. Don't know how they do it. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Great on site bakery.

Waitress took forever to get to us even though she saw us and it wasn't crowded. Food was less than average. Never again.

Vegan menu options are delicious because they use Michael's Savory Seitan. Presentation is decent and the staff is friendly but seems overworked. It gets crowded and there's very little parking. They are trying to be inclusive, provide healthier food and keep up with the times. Please support this restaurant. Big rigs should park on the back street behind the dentist office

Nothing to really get excited about here. Decor was really nice and service was ok but didn't knock it out of the park!

Ever since it changed owners my service there has been terrible. One time we were seated by the hostess and they never came back, didn't even get menus. We left after sitting unattended for 15 minutes.
Another time I went and was actually attending to pretty quickly surprisingly. But after we placed our orders we waited about 35 minutes just to have our waitress come back and tell us our order was never even put in.
It used to be a great place with great food but since they remodeled and changed owners the service, as well as the food has declined dramatically. It's a real shame.

This place has undergone an amazing transformation. I've been going to the Colonial since I was a teen and it still had a smoking section. Back then it was just a typical diner. The menu and overall environment has been seriously elevated in recent years. They even have a really impressive vegan menu.

First visit since remodel. Will be eating here again. Food was top notch, service was even better.

We visit Woodbury to visit family. We've eaten 4 breakfasts here in 1 year. All were exceptional. Nick the Greek is the most attentive server we've met. But all are great morning servers. If you get tomatoes with breakfast, ask for olive oil. Yum.

One of the best restaurants in new Jersey I'm sure. I'll give it ten stars if I had that option.

I came here with a date and I believe we should have a free meal. We ordered your corn beef hash and when they gave me it I realized it was burnt. Don t get me wrong , some foods taste good burnt. But not that, I nicely asked the waitress for new food and she gave me an attitude took my plate and left. When she came back with my food I realized they had scraped all of the burnt stuff off my food and handed me back my SAME plate. I love colonial diner but this day they messed up all of our food and ruined our date.

Solid diner food and a long standing local institution. Look out if you order takeout over the phone double the estimated time they provide or you ll be waiting around for your pick up.

The food is awful and the new people have taken off all the things worth eating. Just another diner in Jersey.

Always a quality meal at good prices. It was my mother-in-laws favorite restaurant.

We ordered takeout tonight. I would NEVER eat their food again! The meatballs sandwich smelled like the meatballs were sitting in burnt spaghetti sauce all day. Not only did it stink like burnt sauce even if you could try to get past the smell the meatballs tasted like burnt sauce so badly it was inedible. The chicken parmigiana sandwich was burnt and so hard you couldn t chew it the cheese was thrown on the chicken and then the sauce was just spooned over top. The worst food in an extremely long time. What a waste of money. The colonial was always good. I can t believe they actually sold this food to us. I wouldn t even give this one star. Both plates in the trash! What happened to people caring?

Service is fantastic. Food phenomenal. Having a dinner that i can also have a drink at is everything. Love this place.

Food amd service was good not the best but definitely not the worst

Big, very artificial, staff was frazzled and owner was not friendly to his servers.

Like the old management better menu sucks now. The new owners don't have a clue shame when the old owners sold the place they didn't leave a book on how to run it. Don't think I will be returning anytime soon ps management please bag your staff meetings in private not on the floor!

They have a 3 only because your meatloaf was not good

Sixteen dollars for a chicken pot pie Special! Got it in a Styrofoam box. Was squashed and not even hot! Salad was another Styrofoam box with lettuce croutons and big slice of onion on top. Three strikes and you're out! never again! You should be ashamed. Go to Brooklawn diner or Piston for a way better meal and deal!!!

Best real diner for vegan "comfort food" entrees in NJ. Well worth the 1-hour detour from work to home.

It can be hit and miss. Sometimes we go and the food is great other times not so much. Services is usually good.

Not a good expirence. Liked old magement and staff better. Also food isn't as good. Had a waitress complain about a table right infront of them.Called one night around 11:30 to place a takeout order and told me they were closed.Not coming back.

Delicious food, great variety. I had the croissant french toast (awesome!) with a HUGE side of corned beef hash with a nice grilled crust on it (pics).

This was only my 3rd visit to Colonial Diner. The first time had to have been over 5 years ago, and it was wonderful: great food & service. The 2nd time was what we swore would be our last: mediocre food, ridiculously long wait considering the place was half empty, and our waitress was fairly miserable. (I found out later that this was becoming the norm).

I had read somewhere that it was renovated, with new owners/management, so when I had the opportunity to try it again, I did. Wow, I am SO glad I gave Colonial a chance to redeem themselves - SO so good! The only reason it didn't get a fifth star is that as many staff as I thought I was seeing, there was quite a wait throughout my time there. Otherwise, VERY impressed with the turnaround!

Been visiting here for the last 23 years. I enjoy the food, the friendly staff. I am a little upset they took away the mini meals. So I don't bring my family as often as I would like because of this. But I strongly recommend them for family dining.

Wow, they have some excellent vegan options. Nice. I got a pulled "pork" sandwich with fries.

Food is typical diner fare. Service could've been a little better. Not bad overall.

Food is good since change in ownership but they took out some town favorite dishes. NO MORE Mexican spud mountain and the the other apps we live like like loaded potato skins. The burgers are no longer the big and messy awesome platters. And I didn't see my personal favorite main course specials SEAFOOD ALFREDO and the 12.99 NY strip special for 12.99 from 5p-11p eat in only. Seems to be more la-de-da.....hope that works for them.. It doesn't work for me.

amazing, the waitress Melissa is the best, checks her tables frequently, & very nice I would definitely recommend, it was my first time and definitely would go again, we live an hour away but it s worth it, the food is amazing, I had the French toast tower and it was great, a GREAT portion of fruit and the view was to die for! They deserve more stars
