My review will not address any of the doctors at this practice because I was not able to get past the front desk clerk. I am sure that the doctors there are competent and thorough. I will address peripheral problems with this location and office. Office staff can make or break a doctor's office. The front desk clerks lack of customer service was disappointing. Additionally, you will find that parking at this location is impossible at best, difficult and fatiguing (Fairoaks INOVA failure).

I had issue with the referral from my insurance company and I was told at the front desk by the clerk that it was "my job" to make sure that that information had been passed from my primary care physician to my insurance company and then to their office. She then left it to me. Customer Service tenets would dictate helping me, the customer, with the issue thereby creating business for your employer. NOPE. My doctor's office had faxd the referral 2 days after my initial appointment and then 15 minutes after I arrived at their office. The fax machine and the computer that it was supposed to digitally be copied to apparently was failing for reasons unknown to me, the patient, more importantly a customer. My doctor's office and the clerk at the front desk could offer me no explanation why I was being failed as a customer and why the electronic equipment that everyone was using was failing. After sitting in the waiting room for 45 minutes having made several phone calls and talking to the front desk clerk and receiving no good answers and poor customer service, I finally called it a day.

I would recommend going to a different facility for your skin care needs based on my terrible experience with the poor parking and the poor customer service received by the front desk. However, if you find that one of these doctors perform their services so well that you are willing to overcome every hurdle thrown in your way prior to seeing the doctor then I say Godspeed.

I'd like to add that it's not my job to make sure that other people are doing their job whether, it be the insurance company, the doctors, the doctors offices or the clerks that work in them.

The receptionists, Amanda and Leonor, are extremely disrespectful !!! They treated me like they were in some kind of snobby high school clique or something...I have recently switched my insurance and don't yet have a physical copy of the card. I called in advance to verify that the digital copy would be fine to use, if they had told me no i would have rescheduled no big deal!!! The lady told me that it would be fine to have only the digital copy. When i arrived for my appointment I said i had the digital copy and that i had called ahead and was told that would be fine and Leonor said "there is no way anyone here would have told you that". I explained that I called a few days ago to verify and was told it would be fine. Leonor then proceeded to raise her voice at me in a snobby tone saying i was lying about calling (why would i lie about that lol). They refused to call the insurance company (which my insurance company said they could do if they were having trouble with the digital copy). She wouldn't let me talk without talking over me! I started to ask if i could email the digital copy to the office of something and they could print it out but before i could finish she started talking over me saying she wouldn't give me her personal email (which keep in mind i did NOT ask for..maybe if she didn't talk over me she would have known that.) then she was like " YOU'LL HAVE TO RESCHEDULE BECAUSE YOU CHOSE NOT TO BRING YOUR CARD IN". Then all the sudden they magically found a copy of my card through my insurance company!!!! If they could look it up this whole time why would they go through all this trouble of arguing with me about it??? I then asked if they could mention this to other staff and make sure they aren't telling patients that digital copies are okay if the wont accept them. Leonor picks up the phone and goes "can you make sure everyone knows we can't jams patients phones into the printer and print out a copy of their insurance card magically" then laughs and starts mocking me. This isn't even the first time one of their employees have been rude to me like this! Months prior i had called about a prescription and one of the girls, Vanessa, was rude to me and hung up on me! They also made me sign a form at my last visit saying i was putting myself at risk for COVID by coming in person even though i was never given the option of doing a virtual appointment!!!!! NEVER GO HERE!!!!!

My husband went there for an appt. it took forever to get on their calendar, then gets there, there is a wait. It took forever to get a bill. And when trying to actually pay the bill, their invoice is the most antiquated bill with no means for e payment. It says to call a number. If I could get someone to answer the phone I could pay the dumb invoice. Get it together Clinical Skin Center!

I have been a patient here for years and would never go anywhere else. They are professional and knowledgeable and I feel they treat their patients the way they would treat friends and family. A rare combination! But as if that weren't enough reason for a 5 star review, my recent experience is even more compelling: They saved my daughter's wedding! I know that sounds a little over the top, but 5 days before the event she had what appeared to be a bad acne outbreak on her nose. I called and they got her in the same day and Dr. Stashower immediately saw that it wasn't regular acne, but rosacea. She began treatment the same day and by the wedding it was completely calmed down. A miracle, especially if we had just tried to treat it on our own as acne- it would have made it worse. The combination of expertise and compassion (they always seem to have some type of appointment for "emergencies") saved the day!

I have always had a great experience with the professional, courteous doctors and staff here. Modern, clean facility in a medical building by the Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. Parking isn't too far and while it can get full, you can always find a spot.

Their calendar fills up, so I recommend making appointments weeks ahead of time and scheduling your follow-ups after each exam.

I have been a patient of Drs Strahan and Tieu for many years. I have had multiple Mohs procedures performed by Dr Strahan to include one skin graft on the tip of the nose. All of the procedures have been without complication and all have healed without noticeable scaring. For a number of years I have seen Dr Tieu for 6 month skin cancer screenings. She is thorough, efficient and every time she has biopsied a suspicious area she has been correct. I have recommended several friends see these highly qualified doctors when they have expressed concerns to me about various skin issues.

This is the first review I have ever made for any type of an establishment, however, given what I just went through this morning (12/16/20) I felt a need to make others aware. My primary care physician faxed a referral to Dr. Stashower's office three separate times over a week and half period of time. I called Dr. Stashower's office each time and it was only after the third fax that a women in Stashower's office confirmed they received the faxed referral. When I arrived today, the woman at the front desk (Not Rose) told me in a less than pleasant manner and voice that they did not have a referral for me. I explained how many times my primary care Dr. faxed the referral to them and that a woman in her office confirmed for me that they had received the referral. The woman proceeded to say something very similar to "...well I am telling you we don't have a referral for you and you can't be seen without a referral...." I then said, "the problem must be with your office's fax and clearly a woman in your office shared with me that your office did in fact receive my referral so there is one or more problem points with your office regarding receiving my referral. Can someone in your office call my primary care physician's office and determine what is the best way for your office to receive the referral soon as I need to have my AM appointment take place soon as I need to return to work." The woman made it very clear to me that she did not like the fact that I had just stated the facts and she then proceeded to say something very similar to "...we are short staffed and too busy right now you are going to have to work it out with your Dr.'s office yourself." After calling my Primary Care's office they immediately faxed another copy of the referral and the office received it. While I was seated about 9 plus feet away from the woman she asked me a question from behind the reception desk and from behind a plexiglass barrier. When I began to answer her question my face mask dropped below my mouth and she very abruptly, unprofessionally, and in a condescending and authoratative manner said verbatim "You need to put your mask on." I then said, "you don't need to speak to me in that manner." She then said, "that is how I speak to everyone." I said, "Well then you are speaking to everyone inappropriately however you don't need to speak to me that way." When I was called back to my appointment, the assistant/nurse that walked me back asked how was my day going. I very quickly explained to her what I had just experienced and I asked her to share with Dr. Stashower that I wanted to speak with him about what had just happened. She said, "I will definitely let him know so he can come speak with you." To make things worse, the Physican's Assistant who was supposed to just "shave off" the top layers of skin off of a wart on the palm of my hand, held the scalpel blade at such a steep angle, that she cut deep in to my hand which cause a very nasty and deep cut such that I started to bleed significantly. In the end, the original assistant/nurse came back and said, I can give you the Office Manager's phone number so you can call her to share your experience. In other words, it appeared to me that Dr. Stashower had no interest in hearing what my concerns were. I, and my two children have been patients of that office for many years. The other front desk receptionist whose first name is Rose has ALWAYS been incredibly kind, professional, and helpful, which is a clear difference from the woman I dealt with this morning. The PA that assisted me today, had assisted me in the past, and whether it was her or another female PA in that office, a PA in that office had shaved that exact same spot on my hand before and I was never cut or made to bleed. I have never had a bad experience with anyone in that office over the past 7 years however I nor any of my family will EVER go back there again to be exposed to such an unprofessional receptionist and the inappropriate laceration that I received was very troubling. Amazing from a Dr.'s office.

I went to see doctor stashower a week or so ago and I have nothing but great things to say. The receptionist was very kind and friendly, I believe her name was rose. Also the nurse that helped me was very understanding and listened to everything that I was telling with her and was very professional. The environment that this office has is very welcoming and friendly. I wouldn t go to another dermatologist other than doctor stashower. Anyone who is looking for a dermatologist I would highly recommend dr. Stashower!

Dr. Stashower and staff keep the office running efficiently despite the Covid-19 restrictions. I have been going to the Clinical Skin Center for almost 20 years and I have always found the staff to be friendly, helpful, and very professional. I have recommended Dr. Stashower to anyone needing dermatologist.
