Went here for a wedding. What a beautiful setting. Don't let the dirt parking lot distract you as to what you will find once you step into the property. The ceremony took place on the tree lined large patio in front of the gazebo. Next we were greeted on the porch to a tabled area to a buffet of wonderful appetizers. Inside this custom built converted home we had our main course. This beautiful home still looks and feels like you've gone back in time with the richness of granddure of that time period. Very homey and cozy. Perfect for a wedding. Giving that it is still roomed like the house it is ,I'm not sure how big of an inside wedding party it can hold. Outside seating can hold quite a bit. A separate room was for cake cutting and gifts. A full size bar was available. The drinks were right on as well as the food ! Great presentation and taste. A fantastic experience and memory.

The house itself is beautiful, elegant, and upscale. Me and my guest had the 5 course meal, and the food was delicious. The one issue we had were the restrooms, which didn't seem to do the rest of the restaurant justice. The only one of the male stalls happened to be out of order so you'd have to use the handicap restroom.

Got an amazing deal with Groupon and did not know what to expect. Our reservation was at 7pm, but we arrived early and were promptly seated. From start to finish, the service and the food was amazing. Our server, Josh, was very attentive and made excellent recommendations as well as good conversation. He knew every dish and was very aware of my wife's allergies when suggesting dishes. The flow of dinner was perfect, we had just enough time to finish one course and not a moment later, our next course arrived. The food was excellent and cooked to perfection. The portions were not too big, nor too small. My wife and I did not leave hungry and could not stop talking about the food and service all the way home. We would definitely go back, especially if the food and service were to be anything like it was tonight. Thanks, Josh, for making it a great experience!

Experience was pretty fun. Food was pretty alright for the most part. Being able to Substitute some stuff would be nice though. Some of the actors are better than the others but given time and experience I think the others will grow into their own.. ending of the red herring production show was great though.

My husband and I took my mother, his mother, 94 year old grandmother and disabled aunt to the Briarhurst Manor for the Thanksgiving buffet this afternoon. The staff was so attentive and helpful in assisting us prepare plates for these lovely ladies. Our server, Jason, was very personable and professional. We were so thankful we chose to go out for Thanksgiving at the Briarhurst. All of us ate all of our favorite dishes and tried a few we had never had. Everything was great. We were all very impressed with everything - the food, the service and the atmosphere were excellent. We will be going back for many meals at this lovely establishment.

Took a family member to celebrate her birthday. Tyler was our waiter. He was witty, fun, thoughtful and totally professional. His personality really added to the enjoyment of the evening. And, oh, the food was great, too!

We were in town on vacation, and happened upon this place through Groupon. We had an enjoyable evening, and were happy that the manager let us to the building. Very nice property. Our server was very attentive, and we enjoyed each course.

I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. We were seated immediately and our waitress took our drink orders and starters. Took 30 mins for a glass of wine and a whiskey sour. Took 45 mins for bread. Server was never around. Around 75 minutes for the starters to get to us. Ordered cranberry spritzers but got pineapple spritzers. We opted for the 5 course meal each and neither of us got the intermezzo. At the end was charged for an extra dessert we didn't even order. They had very limited dessert options and we were told only the cheesecake could be taken home? Tax was not included in the groupon but they only tell you that when you get the bill. Every other table inquired about the "bill" after using a groupon and was shocked as well. I would give 0/5 stars if I could.

We had our rehearsal dinner at this location and the food was very delicious! They were very accommodating to our group's needs. However, the waiter for our event was too touchy with the guests - I had multiple people mention they were uncomfortable with back and shoulder touches from him. Especially during a pandemic, please keep your hands off!

Having never attended a dinner/theater presentatio...

Having never attended a dinner/theater presentation before I will confess some initial confusion about what was going on. The ad we responded to read Murder on The Plains (The story of Tom Horn) which caught my eye because I am familiar with the Tom Horn story. When we arrived for our show the presentation was something else entirely and I am unable to give you the name of the silly story depicted. When we were arrived we were seated in a lovely antique glass bench window seat which under ordinary circumstances would have been an intimate and lush setting. Unfortunately we were seated closely next to another party who resisted introductions and refused to discuss the impending melodrama we were all to witness. The drinks we ordered took a while to arrive and the main entree was tasty but cold. I think our neighbors had the same problem but I only know this because I heard them discussing it among themselves. I honestly thought the tickets we bought on line covered the dinner also but that was not the case. Be prepared for a little sticker shock on the dinner price. The night we were there the young wait staff spilled at least one entree on the stone floor. The covered plate scooted across the room like a hockey puck. Another waiter spilled hot coffee down the back of a lady in the Conservatory. The actors wander the establishment before and after the meal and do a good job of introducing themselves but a poor job of introducing their story. After dinner desert is served in the Conservatory and guests are seated with others guests at common tables. Here communication was also limited to parties attending together or to parties only dressed as fancy or as casual as their neighbor. The Conservatory is an obvious 21st Century add on to the main house and has none of the Gothic charm of the main house. Guest are welcome to wander the house and see those areas not locked or roped off from public view. Lighting in the Manor is dark and dim and is badly in need of a 21st Century upgrade. Under most circumstances this dim lighting would be romantic but the mood is kind of destroyed when you are forced into close proximity to other people who don't care to talk or visit. The murder/mystery was concluded there in the Conservatory and it went off like a moderately funny comedy act. Final interviews with the actors in character was a tense experience and could be met with some hostility from the tiring actors. From the time we were seated (5:00 PM) and until the time the show was over we had spent over four hours in the establishment being forced into interaction with fellow citizens also in attendance. By the time the show was over we were ready to leave. BTW, the Governor did it.

I love the atmosphere of this place! Not too many offerings for vegetarians, but what they do have for vegetarians is unique and tasty. They usually have specials online that make it much more affordable.

This place is so close to nailing it that it pains me. The ambiance is wonderful: The huge mansion with cozy little rooms you dine in with great decor. The food is between good and great: Presentation is honestly some of the best that I've ever seen. Taste was hit and miss, but never bad.

Where they fell short was the people running everything. We went on a Groupon which we often will use to explore new places. They presented us two bills: One before Groupon price and one after, and made it a point to say that gratuity is on the full price. We were acutely aware of this, but saying so was incredibly tacky. Furthermore, I personally would not expect a waiter at a restaurant that bills itself as high end to be chewing gum throughout service. The staff were trying hard, just missing the mark. Class should come naturally and without comment. Trying to point it out to people is just pretentious.

The service was exceptional, the manager as well as the wait staff was very helpful and friendly. As far as the food, that is why I'm giving it a 3 stars. I might have a higher expectation, having gone to one of the top culinary schools in the country. Or it was really lacking quality control. Everything tasted really good but there was issues with the cook on just about everything. The lobster Bisque had one claw that was way over cooked and chewy, as well as the roasted chicken. Again everything had a great flavor, but was difficult to eat. I would probably give it another try just to sample other menu items, but would not order the same as this experience.

My wife and I went to the briarhurst for my b-day ...

My wife and I went to the briarhurst for my b-day dinner sat 10/21/17 it was my first time there. When we were seated i noticed all the other tables had fresh flowers and candles lit. Our tables flower was old and the candle was not lit. I ordered the elk $70 and my wife ordered the wellington $40 i think. We added the 5 course option which is an extra $16 per person. All the courses were good except for the entrees. My elk was EXTREMELY tough. It didnt help that my steak knife was very dull. I only ate about 1/3 of my elk. My wifes wellington was suprisingly tough for a filet. We told the waitress and the floor manager came to our table. The manager offered to do everything except the option of taking the elk off of our bill. We also told the waitress my wife is allergic to strawberries. The creme brulle had strawberries on it when it arrived at the table. To top everything else off we are members of a dining club. Prefferred clientele club. We pay a membership to enjoy a discount at certain participating restaurants. The briarhurst is a participating member. We told the reservation person that we were members when we made reservations. We even used the credit card which has the pcc sticker on it to pay the bill. The discount was never applied. I cooked/cheffed for 20 yrs before i stopped working foodservice and my wife waitressed for years. I was very disapointed with the experience and i will be hard pressed to go back again.

GREAT STAFF
Sunday night dinner was our 3rd visit to Briarhurst Manor. Two wedding aniversary dinners before were great. This last Sunday however not so. Ordered the same surf n turf with five course up grade as we did the last two visits. This time instead of a lobster tail we were served a half tail each ( almost nothing ). Instead of mashed potatoes we were served potatoe wegedes. To top it all off the price on the surf n turf went from $25.00 to $37.00 per plate. Now thats before the $18.00 per plate upgrade. I have no problem paying these prices. If only Briahurst Manor would bring back their full lobster tails and mashed potatoes. Then we could again enjoy the food along with GREAT STAFF who will help you enjoy the eligent setting and will inform you of the Briarhurst Monors history. I have big hopes in seeing
you come june next aniversary.

Amazing restaurant, polite staff. The food was 10/10 the presentation, the quality, and great timing. The atmosphere is uniquely special and romantic. I highly recommend the 5 course meal with the lobster bisque soup and creme brulee. I had the Elk Wellington and for a gamey meat, it was rather tender and soft and mixed great with the sauces provided. Complements to the chef and I'll definitely be back!!

I can only comment on dining experiences as I have never been party to a wedding event. I've taken my wife about 4 times so far and each time we have been thoroughly impressed with the venue and food. Service staff is very well trained. The only complaint I can muster, which is very minor, is that I remember having to wait a little longer for simple things such as refills. You should allow a couple hours for your meal at a place like this.

This time the food was ok. The service and ambiance was tremendous. The elk fillet medallins were a bit tough. The special dinner grouping $18 plus entree was good. Expensive for the food value, but the overall experience was a lot of fun. The group of eight of us had a pleasurable experiance as well.

We had dinner again for my husband's birthday there last night. As before, it was an entire experience, not just dinner. This time, we took our kids. The staff made my daughter feel special, as we were celebrating her birthday, as well. `A great deal of attention is paid to detail, and courses are served promptly without making us feel rushed. It's a minor thing, but another nice touch is that usually when we take our kids somewhere nice, the only option for a "fancy" drink is a Shirley Temple. The Briarhurst had a number of selections, and that alone made them feel catered to.

Beyond the service, the food was excellent. We had baked bri and escargot for apps, and not only were they delicious, but the presentation was stunning. My son and I had chicken cordon bleu, and both enjoyed it a great deal. The birthday boy thought his elk was excellent, and our friend raved over her scallops. However, my daughter's steak diane was truly phenomenal. We each ordered different desserts, and the consensus was that the creme brule was the winner. However, the show stopper for me was the tomato soup I had in place of the salad. It was the best soup I've ever had, and I'm sure I'll think over it for at least another year. At my begging, they filled two containers and allowed us to purchase some to take home.

Some people have commented on the price, but you get what you pay for. Not only did we get an excellent meal, we enjoyed a wonderful experience. Thank you, Briarhurst, for yet another fantastic evening!

Great atmosphere/setting. Previous reviews seem very accurate. Food and service need upgrade to match prices. My wife and I don't plan on going back anytime soon. Hopefully they figure the potential this venue could have. My suggestion would be to quit giving Groupon specials and focus on professional service and food to match menu prices, this could be one of the premier places to dine in the Pikes Peak region if they figure this out.

As usual, we were excited about the evening as we have visited the Manor before. As expected, we we greeted warmly and sat in a very quiet corner among several couples enjoying the evening as well. Our server was delightfully attentive so we expected the true Briarhurst hospitality we had experienced several times before. We started with the Bisque, which was and has always, been incredible. In addition, we ordered the cheese plate as an appetizer, with the Wild Boar and Fillet as entrees, and finishing with the cheesecake and creme brulee. Now, I understand that serving times may have been a little longer due to the occasion and ambiance being portrayed, but they were longer than expected. Up to this point, all is well until we see a couple with a baby being sat by us. Now, don't get us wrong. We have kids and we love to take them out to eat as well but... it's a Special Valentine's Day Dinner specifically advertised for couples. The entire reason for coming to this venue was to have COUPLE time WITHOUT the kids. If I had wanted Family style surroundings for this special day, I'd have gone to Texas Roadhouse! And, for the record, by no means is the couple to be faulted. They were simply looking for a rightfully deserved moment for themselves, as well! However, this changed the mood and celebrating became more of a dash to finish our dinner before having to experience the inevitable natural baby things. Unfortunately, the fillet was overdone, med-well over the med-rare requested, so the wife and I ate the Boar while we waited. When her dish arrived, the meat was cooked well enough, but the root vegetables were raw. We didn't have much luck with Creme Brulee either as they forgot to fire the candy sugar crust and gave us wet custard instead.

February 14th is more than just Valentine's Day for us. It is also a day of remembrance for those that celebrated our love and we lost on that very day. When I spoke with Ken Healey, GM, regarding the experience, he did offer to do something for us in light of the experience. Unfortunately, we are not in the area so revisiting was not an option at the moment. Albeit, not sure he truly understood the situation. He mentioned that if he had been on the floor that evening, he would have made sure the couple kept the baby quiet. Hmmm, I wonder... Since when can ANY couple make sure, or better yet, guarantee, their 1 yr. old child stays quiet?!

At any rate... been a month since the incident and we have yet to see a semblance of "doing anything" for us.

fine dinning? they great you with "you guys" several times. They delivered menus and before we could say we would like wine, they were gone. No wine list.
We were given a gift card , .. better to use before they go out of business. It was sketchy service and food...some dishes were good and others too salty.
Waiter forgot wine. I wish them luck and success, just not a fine dining experiene for us.

Wonderful staff, they are eager to tell you about the history of the mansion and the waiter s are always exceedingly helpful and nice. 9/10 the food is glorious and that is pretty much for the entire menu. I only had a entree here once, but during the visit every other course was fantastic. It s pricy to eat here but the quality is worth it, without a doubt.

Dinner was slow. Our reservations were for 7:15 and we didn't get out till after 10. We did the 5 courses. They weren't as good as expected. As a chef myself the food was lack luster and over priced. I would recommend it to anyone and won't be back. I heard good things but was very let down. On top of it our sever was very loud and a bit obnoxious.

Oh if only I could erase the poo-fair rating I have given this place and replace it with a review of repulsive.

My Fiance and I had looked at the Briarhurst for our wedding reception and were extremely disappointed in the way we were treated. During our tour the briarhurst event planner (whose name unfortunately escapes me) spoke to us as though we had already booked their location for our reception rather than trying to sell us on the appeal of the briarhurst. She was extremely negative and at times I felt that she believed what we were willing to spend on our reception was not even worth her time. She also spoke to us as though it was HER wedding rather than ours and that our ideas about our wedding weren't what we should have. She seemed extremely controlling and the only way we could book any outside vendors (DJ, Photographer, Cake, flowers etc) was if they were given her stamp of approval. The Manor appeared to be falling apart and in need of some serious work and definitely not where my fiance and I wanted to celebrate our wedding.

The only good point about the event planner was that she did call approximately two weeks after our tour to see if we had any additional questions or needed any additional help. However when I informed her that we had decided to go in a different direction with our reception she proceeded to verbally bash the venue we had chosen calling it cheap, and unfit as a location for a wedding reception. Obviously we made the right choice by not booking the briarhurst. I would not recommend this place to anyone who wants to be involved in their own wedding.
