Cool place. Imagine going back in time and eating elk all at the same time.
Made my brain hurt and my stomach happy. Top notch service and ambiance unmatched character. Food was good too. Get the angus filet and a big cab (wine not the car, c mon) and ask about the ghost stories.

Worst place that i have ever been my friends wedding was completely ruined and overcharged none of the steaks were cooked as asked not even when they were sent back even some of the chicken was raw! There was hair in my sons food and nothing was done about it the forks that i had were dirty with food on them. When we were served our cake the bride and groom hadn't even gotten their cake they had to ask for their cake the chocolate covered strawberries that we had were frozen and older than my grandma oh yeah the salad couldn't get any cheaper bag salad looks better not worth the money and I'm urging my friend to leave a review of her side of the story and all of the family and friends too. I've been to roach coaches that had better food and service.

I can not tell you what an amazing surprise the evening was! My beautiful fiance and I have been so busy and caught up with life that we hadn't made time for our selves in a while. I wanted to take her out somewhere different and a little nicer than usual with out spending a small fortune. I was hoping for somewhere fairly quite and and with the surroundings that told her just how much I love her and that I was sorry it had been a while. From the moment we parked and looked at the beautiful surroundings till we walked in the door to meet Alison at the reception area . It was like walking back in time not only this incredible home but the hospitality as well. We were taken up stairs with a brief history of the house noticing the craftsmanship of an era long since lost. then we were seated and introduced to Julie our waitress whom was just AWESOME really. The food from the very first course of a 5 course meal to the very last . The Caramel Apple Pie is to Die for , I had the Bison which was amazing as well ,My fiance had the Salmon and it was fantastic! This was an evening long overdue and surpassed every single expectation I had except for the price. it was far less than I would have guessed to be in such a beautiful place with such great service ,it was quite, romantic and just the perfect mix of elegance, charm ,and comfort as well . So weather you are looking to dress and do elegance or show up in jeans and gor for casual it the perfect spot . I would highly recommend the Briarhurst to anyone and everyone I know. WORTH EVERY CENT !!!!!!! THANK YOU BRIARHURST FOR AN AMAZING EVENING.

I decided out of the two places to dine to dine at Briarhurst. This was to celebrate my wedding anniversary. We chose the 5 course meal which was a better savings than ala cart.

1st course Summer Salad- Delicious
2nd course Caprese Salad bite -
3rd course The Fantastic Angus Beef Filet with Beer Battered Onions with Roast Garlic ala Glace. DELICIOUS DELICIOUS DELICIOUS MELT IN YOUR MOUTH.
4th course was a sorbet to cleanse palate
5th and last but not least was the Feuillietine Chocolate Torte. Amazing.

I recently responded to someone's request for restaurant advice with the highest recommendation for Briarhurst Manor, a restaurant that had been my favorite. I'd like to retract that recommendation and warn anyone against supporting such abominable customer service! I called in to make a reservation for this weekend to celebrate my husband's upcoming retirement after 26+ years of military service. The receptionist gave me the available times and took my name. I mentioned that I had a Groupon and asked if that was alright, since in the past I was told a particular date I could not use it. The receptionist went to ask if I could use the Groupon since it was Mother's Day weekend. A man got on the phone and told me, "We will not be taking any reservations for you." I thought I heard him wrong and asked him to please repeat what he had said. I asked if he meant "ever" thinking he must be joking, but he said, "yes." Incredulously, I asked, "why?" He said, "You have been causing too many problems for us." Confused, I asked him how? When? He said on Feb 15th. I told him he must have me mixed up with someone else, that I haven't been there in over two years. I asked how he even knew who I was? He didn't explain so I asked who I was talking to and he said he was the owner! He refused to solve the problem and only said, "You are not welcome here." Then he HUNG UP on me. I have never caused them ANY problems, and have never been treated so poorly, especially by a business owner!!! Obviously, he doesn't care about his customers! Unfortunately for him, my 17,000+ local friends now know what he really thinks of his customers....thank you Google and Facebook!

We had an excellent five course meal. There were a lot of choices and the venue is a very interesting place to eat. I thought it was a very good value for fine dining in an interesting place.
The entrance from Manitou Ave is not well marked and the way into the building is not very well marked.

Just left an office party of approximately 40 people. This event had been planned months in advance. The wait staff was doing all they could for being severely understaffed. The appetizers and entrees were cold. The prime rib was cold and tough and wasn't even served with au jus that would have least helped to warm up the meat. This is an overpriced restaurant for low quality food and service. Everyone in our party was disappointed. We will not return to this restaurant.

Can't thank David our server enough for an amazing meal. It was a bit rushed because of our plans but they were able to accomodate us perfectly. The flavors are bold and powerful, and we loved every bite.

I attended a wedding here recently. The bride was happy with Briarhurst because they offered a complete wedding package and she's been too busy with school to coordinate everything.

The outdoor wedding venue is nice enough. It has a white gable and Briarhurst provides wireless microphones for the bride. groom, and the person officiating the wedding. It is a bit close to two roads so that is a minor annoyance but nothing major.

The inside dining room / dance area is a bit underwhelming. It felt kind of like a cafeteria or a buffet restaurant but the settings were nice. There is also a small bar that serves alcohol.

The food was presented nicely though overall it was somewhat mediocre. This may have to do with the cost of the wedding package however so I can't comment much more in that regard.

Overall it was a nice wedding venue, the staff was incredibly courteous, there were no major issues and the wedding went off without a hitch.

I think this would be a good option for a couple wanting to get married but not wanting to go through the hassle of arranging every little detail.

I'm pretty sure this is where my highschool (CSEC) hosted one of our school dances, back in the day.

I remember it as a magical experience, as a teenager. To me, it was something straight from a fairy tale to experience at that age. I recall begging my mom to let me go at the time, and being sure to dress what I thought was best for it.
(I probably looked pretty silly haha! I had a weird style as a kid. But the people here never once made me feel out of place there.)

The staff I recall was nothing but gracious and accommodating.
I loved every moment in this beautiful space, and hope to return as an adult and photographer one day.

Thank you, to all the staff here, for such a positive, magical time for me as a kid going through a rough time. It really stood out as one of the brighter spots in my years.

It's definitely worth visiting at minimum once in your life.

The old mansion was a cool setting for dinner. The service was good, but the server was not quite as polished as I would have expected for what is billed as a fine-dining establishment. The food was good, but some things were a bit off. For example, the fried onions that topped my steak were chewy, not crispy. The vegetables were a bit under-cooked. These wouldn't be big deals at most places, but a restaurant that boasts about its food should be able to get those things right.

Overall, we enjoyed the experience and will be going back again someday.

Outstanding 5 Star Food! We had our Office Holiday Party in a private dining room. Everything was just perfect! The Escargot was my absolute FAVORITE. I had never eaten snails before, but I felt that if I was going to try them, this would definitely be the place! So glad that I did! Definitely recommend this place!

I got the Beef Wellington. I ordered it medium rare, it came to me well done and the puff pastry was burnt. The lobster bisque was fishy tasting. It was our 50th wedding anniversary. Our daughter and son-in-law took us out for this dinner. We felt really bad for them because I know they paid over $200.00. we will not return to Briarhurst Manor.

I celebrated my 50th birthday at the Briarhurst Manor and had a very memorable experience. I've been there before and enjoyed their Rocky Mountain cuisine, so I looked forward to going there when I visited Manitou Springs last December.
For starters, I had the Wild-Mushroom Duck Risotto while my 13 year old daughter had the lobster bisque. The Risotto was fantastic and my daughter loved the bisque (I tried a little of her dish and it was creamy and delicious).
For dinner, I treated myself to two entrees: Colorado Bison and Wild Boar (being from New York I consider this Wild West food). The bison was so succulent I think I may have had a out-of-body experience eating it. The bacon-wrapped boar was equally savory; I enjoyed every bite (although at this point I was getting stuffed).
My kid ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Scampi, which she demolished without too much help from me. The shrimp were gigantic and the pasta was drenched in a garlicky-lemon caper butter sauce, a real pleasing delight to the palate.
Naturally, we had cake for dessert. One slice and I was done. Thanks to the staff of the Briarhurst for a truly unforgettable night. If you are ever in Manitou Springs, Colorado, I highly recommend this establishment for the food, great service and atmosphere.

I've had a few days to think about our experience ...

I've had a few days to think about our experience at Briarhurst Manor. We had a reservation for the final night of our summer vacation and we were excited for an elegant experience. The restaurant called us twice in two days to confirm our reservation and to note any dietary needs, which made us even more excited for the experience. It was me, my wife, and our three-year-old son.

Our son is used to dining out with us and we brought his iPad with us so that he would sit quietly through dinner, which he did. My wife and I both ordered the five-course meal, which included a starter, bread service, an intermezzo, entree, and dessert. Starter, drinks, and bread came quickly, though the 'artisan' bread service was three limp pieces of reheated sourdough bread.

Then things went down-hill. As the table next to us, also enjoying a five-course meal, went through their entire service, we waited one hour and fifteen minutes between the starter and the intermezzo. Then it was another hour before our entrees came. My wife's 'prawns' were a little smaller than jumbo shrimp you can buy in the grocery store freezer aisle, and my venison Wellington was overcooked and the pastry soggy. The venison was so hot inside when it arrived, a type of hot that can only be achieved by using a microwave. Our son's sliders, which we ordered with only cheese, came out with all the fixins', which our waiter quickly took back to the kitchen for a redo. It was 45 minutes before they came back.

I ordered the beef tenderloin in place of the microwaved venison Wellington, and it was served on a bed of instant mashed potatoes that were so over-worked that they were an embarrassment to the potatoes and to the tenderloin. After three hours, we asked for dessert to go.

After speaking with the manager, it is my belief that the service was so terrible, and the meal so subpar, because establishments see a family with a child and assume low tips, noisy behavior, and lack of taste. We even confirmed with the one other table seated in our area that our son made no noise and was hardly even noticed during dinner. I felt especially bad for our waiter, David, after speaking with the manager because the manager basically blamed the entire experience on our waiter's lack of experience.

Our meal was comped, though we did pay for, and tip on, a nice bottle of 2017 Caymus Cabernet even though the menu advertised it as a 2009. When I asked about why the menu and the actual bottle were different, the manager again blamed our waiter.

Imitation luxury is how I would describe this experience. An unbelievably elegant setting with beautiful surroundings and terrible food and service. What stands out as even more upsetting from this experience is that the table next to us seemed to have a very fine meal and excellent service.

We had our first date at Briarhurst 6 years ago with their Groupon for the 5 course dinner special. We were married last year on our 5 year anniversary. I wanted our 1 year wedding anniversary extra special and I was delighted to be able to book on open table.com despite covid, AND wefound another great Groupon special. From the first call to confirm our reservation and the friendly hostess congratulating us when we arrived while getting us a romantic table, everyone treated us so special from start to finish. Erika was our server and she was AWESOME!

Wow. What a fun place good food great atmosphere and ambiance in an old mansion. On the pricey side but worth it. Be aware though if you have food allergies cross contamination may be a worry. Even with that though I still give it 4 stars.

The food is ALWAYS amazing! We're never disappointed. The bread pudding is so good, my husband made some kind of comment every bite. He was raving so much about it that a near by diner overheard him and changed his dessert choice!

I hosted a fancy bachelorette dinner here and we were blown away!!! The staff here was incredible and went above and beyond my expectations! We had a private personalized room with a personalized menu. This was a surprise for the bride and she was so happy with everything and everyone who attended had an amazing time! I honestly cant wait to come back! I highly recommend this place for a romantic evening or for a nice event or fun fancy girls night.

Nice beautiful venue and great food. Janice is the "planner". She was very rude, unprofessional and unorganized. On rehearsal day she did nothing but watch and wasnt helpful. Then on the wedding day felt the need to boss everyone around and run things. She never introduced herself to anyone. She felt the need to constantly yell and disrespect the groomsman. She has no I idea what she doing and seemed like she drinks or does something on the job. I would recommend using this place but not allowing Janice to be involved in anyway.

The food however they shutdown due to weather. The weather forecast threatened some snow however it was really a dusting. Maybe an inch. Only came to town for a few days so very disappointed.

Warning. They could shutdown if snow is forecasted so have a back up plan. This is shocking for Colorado. Ended up at Italian place down the street who were open.
