Food was pretty good but the prices are high and the space is extremely cramped. The waiters kept bumping into the tables and spilling things. The only saving grace was the creative dishes that were tasty

The lamb was delish! Oddly had two different servers during the evening, and another server helped us in between. Service was mixed because of it. That said it was an overall good experience.
Went here for brunch with one of my well-known Chef friends from New York he took me here saying that it was a fantastic place to get a beer and have late brunch he was absolutely correct be prepared to be stunned!
A great place to gather with friends for drinks! Very relaxed and the staff is accommodating and efficient. Cozy couches and also desks for catching up on line. The dark interior gives an old library feel.
This is definitely one of the best restaurants in New York if you are looking for quality food and amazing service. The decor is nothing too fancy but the fact that it is simple and not overdone makes it even more enjoyable. We aimed to make it there for breakfast but got there for brunch, regardless the food was amazing and I would recommend this place for any time of the day. We were impressed by the quality of the food (organic) and the service, a bit pricey but absolutely worth it.

We came here for drinks and appetizers. The menu is limited. If you go with a "picky" eater, it might be hard for the person to find something to eat on the menu. There is a lot of lamb and liver. It was fun for drinks and appetizers.
At the very least, top 5 burgers in NY. Please don't butcher the experience by ordering it well done. It's meant to be eaten medium rare, and with the fries, and the amazing sauce that I don't know what it's called, and with the delicious goat cheese.
There are also some other options that you should ignore.
I took a girl weekend at the Greenwich VLG tour about a year ago and this is part of our favorite weekend! It is so interesting to walk around this fascinating area while the food is delicious and noshing to hear the little tidbits of history. It was so pleasant, we booked the Chelsea market tour the next day which was fun! This year I went to the city and the children, we made the Greenwich Village Tour and it is still equally exciting! Rather than when you think about how to brew you are so expensive at the end - especially if you need some extra fragrant fried cheese rolls to go! It's such a great way to get a real feel for the city, as well as some great restaurant ideas and suggestions to go back.
I visited on a slow Sunday, only 3 other customers I could see, and the service was attentive and friendly. When I ordered the lamb burger I asked to substitute the fries for a salad but was told that the chefs don t do substitution because they are very concerned about presentation. While the presentation was nice, I fail to see where a substitution salad would of hurt it. The food was good (nothing to write home about) and the service was amazing but a low rating due to the chef s unwillingness to accommodate customer preferences in the name of cosmetics.
Hands down the best lamb burger I've ever had in my life. I'm not a fan of the rest of the menu since it has too much of a gastropub feel to me (pig's feet, fried head cheese, etc.) but the juicy burger, paired with a pickleback to top it off, is worth coming back for everytime. It's prepared on a fresh sourdough roll, topped with melted feta cheese and served with cumin mayonnaise to dip your French fries in. If you have room for dessert, the sticky toffee pudding is phenomenal. Fun to go with a group of friends and visit the Ace hotel lobby bar after for post-dinner drinks.
i could not have been happier with my experience. the lamb burger was excellent and properly cooked and the service was outstanding. i would go back in a heartbeat.
The lamb burger is the go to choice at this cool and dark place tucked into the ace hotel. If you're hungry, the ribeye for 2 is quite the meal and is perfectly executed
As a Londoner, I had high expectations coming here with April Bloomfield heading things up seeing as she s worked at Bibendum previously, but if she was anywhere near the pass tonight she d of been ashamed. Really bland and overly salty food combined with awful service with a hefty price tag. Decent drinks and cocktails the only saving grace of the night. Avoid
the most fantastic breakfast! I enjoyed the fluffy broccoli Rabe fritatta and my husband the full English breakfast and they were both divine. the mimosas were perfection as well as a fine cup of English tea. oh and the whole wheat bread was gorgeous!!!
I really enjoyed the food, but the crowd was a bit much at times. Came on a friday afternoon for drinks and dinner after work. We had a hard time finding any space near the bar and it was constantly over crowded. On a quieter night this place would be much better and I really did enjoy the food.
Anniversary drink was a nice touch. Food was bistro style and tasty, atmosphere great although quite noisy to talk. Young vibe in restaurant and hotel Service was a bit slow, but anniversary deserts made up for it. Young, funky vibe
This place is always busy. Terribly long wait (hostess said 45min, we waited 1hr 45min) -- they did make up for it with a couple free appetizers. Lamb burger was juicy and worked well without tomatoes and lettuce. The chips (french fries) were good. Decor was cool.
My son and I went in for Burgers. We ordered 2 Beef Burgers. 30$ each. The Bar area was pretty cold and we had a discussion until they agreed to give us a table in the dining room. The dining room is really nice, with cosy separets, like small cabins, we enjoyed it. The burgers had 3 components. The bread, really good, bacon not cross - perhaps 30 secs in the pan without any taste. And the beef? good. But No salad, no tomato, no onions. Nothing else on it. The French fries were also good. The burger was small and overall I have to say overpriced. If you are hungry, you will need two of them. 60$? That is up to you. I want to be fair, the stuff is really friendly- so 3*.
We waited for almost 1.5 hours for a table, even though we were told the wait was 45 minutes to an hour. The food was pretty good though, very buttery.
Nice upscale restaurant in midtown. The burger is really great, but all the food is good. The cocktails are good, but a little expensive. They usually have a couple cask beers on tap, as well as a few other options. Nothing amazing, but not bad for beer. Busy atmosphere and close quarters. Connected to the Ace Hotel. Service is good.
Amazing service was friendly, attentive, accommodating. Food surpassed expectations. Scotch egg and lamb fat olives were favorites at our table. But all the many dishes we tried were quite good - elevated. Would come again to try more from the menu.
Solid bar if you want to drink like a local. Not terribly easy to locate if you don't know the area, but met friends here and it's definitely a place to check out. The food around us looked good, though I we didn't eat anything, we just drank.
I went with a group, so we got the $65 prix fixe party meal (duck)
Food: - Balsamic vinaigrette duck - very tender meat and had a really nice balsamic sauce which was not overpowering - Veggy gratin - good and creamy, mostly spinachy it seemed - Duck fat potatoes - rough chopped potatoes fried in duck fat - it was crispy and delicious - Carrots - I don't normally like carrots, but these were very yummy (Note: not super carroty tasting) - Chocolate tarts - with a gooey toffee filling - it was tasty but extremely sweet. It would probably go really well with unsweetened coffee
Drink: - Pimms cocktail - very tasty
Service: - Our waitress was really friendly and fun
Ambiance: - Dim mood lighting, with kind of a bar vibe but not loud - Lots of cow decor - It's in the ACE hotel, and perhaps I used the wrong entrance, but I ended up circling the lobby before finding the entrance
Love this spot, cornerstone for any NYer passing through that neighborhood. The lamb burger is stellar, though any recommendation from the waiting staff won't lead you astray.
Well-kept environment and customer care make this place a place to be enjoyed. We took lamb burgers and it was a real delicacy. It is really worth a visit.
Harissa braised kale with applewood smoked lamb bacon & fried eggs ($16): All three of the items were distinctively flavored and good. Would be happy to get this again.
Rashers with house made english muffin, fried duck egg & ketchup ($13): Did not like the bacon-ey meat on this one at all, and it was overwhelmed by it. Would not get this one again.
A very particular and super crowded place. To be seen a classic pub in fact, the environment is very welcoming, the staff polite and above all I could eat the best hamburger ever, made with perfectly cooked lamb and feta and a delicious sauce, accompanied by French fries three times. Also large selection of beers.
We had breakfast here and really enjoyed the service and the food. I would give it 5 stars but it is gawdawful dark to my tastes, especially in the booths, and I guess I prefer a somewhat brighter environment at breakfast. But again, the food was delish and plentiful, the server was prompt and courteous, and so if you don't mind dark dining, this is a great option.
Incredibly old New York feel with modern gastro-pub food. Great place for drinks as well with a huge bar. Get the Scotch Egg. And the chocolate bread pudding!
Though the food is undoubtedly good, the service has deteriorated since I last ate here and the maitre d', when showing my lunch date to the table I was sitting at, could not remember where he had put me and they had to trek round the restaurant looking for me...... and it is a big restaurant.
Between the time I gave my credit card to the server and the time I got the check back, was a good 15 minutes and I had to get one of the other servers to go in pursuit of mine.
Get a scotch egg and the lamb burger; you will not be disappointed.
The wine list is quite fun, it looks like they focus on smaller wineries and grower/producers. This can make for some inconsistent wine, but the bottles we've had so far have been outstanding. Chat with the sommelier and get something a little off the beaten path that you haven't tried before.
It was okay. The Spotted Pig is run a lot better and the staff is way less pretentious. The skirt steak was everything but rare and the lamb burger we had was not salted at all. It's as if there were too many complaints about food being oversalted so they didn't salt at all.
When we walked in unannounced to a completely empty room we were admonished for not making a reservation and then seated. When we completed the meal the room was half full.
Today wasnt the best for me. Next time as others will be better im sure.
One of my favorite spots in the city for dinner is now also one of my favorites for breakfast. Had potentially the best pancake I've ever had, great coffee and extremely attentive service.
