I've tried brunch, lunch & dinner. All good, & great drinks too!
This is our favorite restaurant in St. Louis!! All of their food is incredible and the service is always exceptional! Randy is so talented and makes the best cocktails. We were regulars when we lived in St. Louis and always have to stop by when in town! They never disappoint!
Wonderful place to grab brunch...wife loves the mimosas! Food is delicious but a bit heavy.
Always fun and friendly with good food and great service
Outstanding service. Fun atmosphere. Excellent food. The best bread pudding I have ever had!
Everything we had was delicious. I got the Cubano with salad as the side, and brussel sprouts for the appetizer. I'd recommend both!
I got the veggie burger with no bun and if was pretty good, the place was cute, good place to grab lunch!
It was a rehearsal dinner. The service was very slow. I would not recommend them for an event such as this.
The food was okay. We had a limited menu so I would give them another chance. The chicken dish was too salty. The pea pasta was not to my liking. The burger looked very good.
I am them a thumbs up on the apple harvest salad.
Went for brunch and fried chicken Benedict and bottomless mimosas. Food was excellent and so was the service!!
Not a great dining experience. Went on a Saturday night with wife and other couple. Ordered a couple of appetizers - corn dip and the duck fries. Good, but not great. I usually like bold flavors and both were rather pedestrian. Just my taste. Entrees included one cubano, two sam elliot burgers and I ordered the Nashville hot fried chicken. Rest of groups said food was "good" - not much more.
The rating is based on my entree - the hot Nashville fried chicken. Description was what drove me to this choice. In fact, all of their descriptions set very high expectations. Unfortunately, it delivered badly with this choice. I could tell when the chicken arrived something was not right. It was a very dark brown - never seen fried chicken this dark of a color. A faint burnt smell. I took a bite and it was hard as a rock - coating was like concrete. Obviously way overcooked. The chicken itself was very dry. A couple of bites felt like I was chewing on jerky. I am surprised this was allowed to leave the kitchen. Just by looking at it you could tell it was not right. Spice was OK - could have been a little more spicy.
Honestly, I could have gotten a better piece of chicken at KFC.
The sides were mashed potatoes and corn, plus collard greens. Mashed potatoes were tasteless. As was corn. I would have added salt but none on table. Collard greens were good.
Bill was around $110 for my wife and I. About half of that was booze. Hard liquor was not cheap ($9 a shot).
Main point is that the fried chicken should have never left the kitchen. Either tone down the descriptions or improve the product.
We have been here several times before they changed the menu and all of their food is SO GOOD. Bacon fat fries are to die for (probably literally due to the bacon fat). I miss the chicken tenders! A few friends and I would go in and order a bunch of appetizers and share them, but now the appetizer menu is mostly tacos. But regardless, the food is phenomenal and I can't wait to see what they come up with in the future.
I got the chicken club and the sandwich itself was very tasty. I'd recommend. That earned the stars for my review. The tomato soup was also tasty.
Loses stars for harsh atmosphere (colors/ lighting/ decor, unavailability of crackers with soup, and bland "deviled egg potato salad."
I've been here twice, once when they first opened and once very recently. Both visits the service and the food were outstanding, every single dish was delicious. Do yourself a favor and save room for dessert. 10/10
I was not impressed fries were 10 and just ok at best. The duck fried rice was terrible. Won't be ordering from this place again.
Amazing. I know people say simple things like that but my boyfriend and I were planning on what we will eat next time. Like this week. First time there. Incredible burger. Try the Sam Eliot. Cool staff.
Went there for New Years Eve and the food was great. Great service.
The food was okay. The burger didn't have much flavor. The fries where not great. My friend asked for her burger to be cooked medium and it was rare. The service was good. The staff was friendly. I was hoping for a fun up beat atmosphere but there where only about 5 or so other tables full there. Overall I probably won't be returning. I had hi hope's.
Unique menu. Had the trout with great vegetable medley with a sauce that complimented
First time being there to eat. Enjoyed my time there. Very helpful staff, very prices.
Great cocktails, though the menu has been hit or miss for me. The bacon fat fries can be amazing, thought they were basically charcoal the last time I ordered them. The fried pork belly appetizer is bigger than you expect and a very tasty carnivore treat. The tacos come on fresh made tortillas and are much larger than the expected street tacos. The pozole was huge but bland (it was a special, I think). I want to love this place but I can only bring myself to like it. It's overflowing with creativity, but needs a little more quality control coming out of the kitchen on busy nights.
The food was delicious and the bartender Darrious was a delight! I had the good a$$ chicken fingers and cornbread. The chicken fingers were the perfect combo of crisp.and juicy. And my wonderful bartender was attentive and funny and made great drink suggestions when trying something new.
Enjoyable menu with great service. I have visited once since quarantine Covid times started and they have taken so many precautions that it is the one of the only places that I feel very comfortable eating out at this time. This is a Maplewood staple and I enjoy taking people here.
The food and service was GREAT. This was our first visit. We will be back! Thank you for a great experience.
We had the DLT with fries and Blue Cheese burger with BBQ chips during Saturday brunch. Delicious!!!! Oh, and don't forget bottomless mimosas for $15!
I love this place. Their fries are amazing, they have a great beer selection, and I have never had a sandwich I didn t love.
By far our favorite restaurant in STL. You can taste the care and love in every bite of food. We absolutely love this place for the food, but the cocktails... get yourself in there and try them. The bartender Randy is by far one of the best in STL and I dare you to try anything he makes and not smile. This place leaves us amazed every time we come. I think it will do the same for you!
Food was really good. Service was great. Dessert was a poppy seed with raspberry and grahmcracker crunch. Had wings (not your norm) as appitizers and tomatoes bisque soup with a Dlt and daughter had the Chicken sandwich with potato salad. The food is top notch not your average pub food. Everything was great.
Absolutely fantastic. I have no idea why I had never heard of this place. We happened to walk by it during the Maplewood Bastille Day fair, and decided to go in. Next to proposing to my wife, one of the best decisions I have ever made. The beer menu was small but well-curated. As much as I love St. Louis beer, it was pretty cool to find a place that focused on small breweries that you might not have heard of in other cities. Also, anywhere that has Off Color gets an automatic extra star from me. The only criticism I have is that the Nashville hot chicken had absolutely no heat. It was still some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. The flavor was fantastic, and it was perfectly fried. It was so good we almost went back for lunch the next day. Vegetarian-friendliness: high. My wife said they had some of the best falalfel she's ever had.
Amazing service with an adventurously sophisticated menu. Definitely, THE best burger I've ever eaten.
A gem in the heart of maplewood.
Easily one of my favorite restaurants in St. Louis. Both locations are fabulous. I've never had a bad dish, and everything is always fresh and delicious. I love that everything is made in house and locally sourced. The DLT and spinach artichoke dip are a couple of my favorites. They should just rename it crack dip. The homemade chips are AMAZING. The service is always top notch as well!
Great food and interesting atmosphere. Maggie was awesome, very knowledgeable of the menu and attentive without being overbearing!
Don't sleep on this place for lunch, and pick up that DLT.
Our party of five included a vegan and a vegetarian, but all appetites were accommodated deliciously. The eclectic menu is small with amazing diversity. We shared roasted brussel sprouts for an appetizer. Awesome!
Service was on point and the way they handled social distancing was excellent.
Best meal I've had a in while. The Sam Elliot burger is out of this world! And when you ask for it to be cooked medium, you actually get a proper medium. Definitely going back soon.
The food was really good. It is a trendy menu with some different menu items. Prices were really good and the staff was the friendly wait staff I have seen in a while.
Pork belly cheese fries!? Can you say love at first sight! Priced just right!
The quiche had excellent flavor, and our server was prompt & curteous. They accidentally brought out the wrong order for a friend, and corrected it as quickly as possible with no extra charge to her.
Unique menu that changes at least quarterly. Excellent preparation and presentation! Loved it!
Awsome cocktails and really yummy Sam Elliot burger! Taking great covid19 safety measures and very welcoming staff! Would recommend any day!
It was pretty good food, I did get upset that several tables that came in after us received their food 1st even though 1 of the tables looked like they ordered the same food, also very understaffed, but server did an outstanding job considering being understaffed.
The first time I ever went to The Blue Duck was Pre-covid when we could eat brunch. The food was really really delicious. Ever since that first time, I go from time to time whenever I m craving their food. My favorite dish so far is the duck fried rice (pic below).
A quick note, they are also a part of GiftAMeal. For just taking a picture of your food from The Blue Duck in the GiftAMeal app the org donates a meal to someone in need.
I had lunch with two other friends on Saturday. Absolutely loved our entrees and desert. Do not miss the dessert. Wonderful experience and really enjoyed the fun, attentive staff. This place is a keeper.
The Pork Belly Benedict was delicious!!! Recommend it!!!
It's alright. For the price of everything here there really should be more ambiance, rather than feeling like a diner.
The food was delicious. I was too full to try the dessert menu but it looked wonderful. The desserts are made in house by the owner.
This restaurant makes fresh, delicious, and fun food CONSISTENTLY. Whether you have the chance to dine in or you decide to carry out, your food will be delicious. Not every chef can make you a sandwich and have the bread be the perfect amount of crispy and not soggy after a 20-minute car ride, but these guys nail it EVERY single time. If you are trying to decide whether to try Blue Duck, JUST DO IT
Nostalgic atmosphere, thought was put into the food and drinks along with fast friendly service.
Great experience for lunch. Will definitely return to try more of the food and cocktail offerings. Star of the show was Pork Belly Cheese Fries but we also had Kimchi Fried Rice balls, the DLT, Fried Chicken Club, Smokehouse Club and a burger. No complaints whatsoever.
Really tasty, really unique, easy to get a seat, and friendly staff.
I don't give out 5 star ratings casually mind you. Excellent food. Great tender duck options woven into many menu items. Casual. Wasn't too crowded. Service was fast and good. Again tge food was amazing try the mac and cheese !
Nicely decorated. Good food. Nothing on the menu for gluten free but I had a bunless hamburger. The service was okay. Unique patio.
I've been a few times now and have thoroughly enjoyed all my visits. The burger was loaded and toppings were tasty. Then I got a seafood pasta dish which was worth coming back for alone. The cocktails and service were also great.
Really great, absolutely amazing service. Just a touch on the pricey side
What a great place. So, the special was catfish. I love catfish. My girlfriend hates it, then has it tonight. She's sold on catfish because Blue Duck. Great. Damn. Food.
My wife and I were blown away by the Blue Duck. It will forever be a go to recommendation as well as dinner spot for us. The food was unparalleled in the realm of burger and fries land and the drinks were unique and tasty. I can t begin to describe the pork-belly, perhaps chicken nuggets+bacon? Alas, I do it no aide with my mere English words. Don t miss this place. It s cute in there, too!
The menu is small but the food was phenomenal. Creative food choices for everyone.
Terrific comfort food & burgers, excellent of-the-moment craft beers.
Plus they make a terrific old fashioned...
Great casual atmosphere combined with fine dining. The staff went out of their way to please.
The chef prepared a brunch item for us at dinner. Without us asking! We just said we wanted to try it. Our waitress Julia made wonderful drink and meal selections. From our waitress to the bus boy Nick the service fantastic and the food was bordering on ridiculously tasty. Drinks food service price and atmosphere. Can't say enough. We will be back.
Service is slow and attitudes rate from sullen to begrudgingly almost polite. We waited 45 minutes for drinks that were ordered to arrive at the table. The food was ok. The spinach dip had a lot of olive oil poured on top of it, along with the grease from the cheese in it... We will not come back. If they were polite or nice in any service type of way I think all of us would give them a second chance but they were so bad that this is it. TLDR: Plenty of amazing places to eat in the area don't waste your time.
STL Masterpiece burger is the best burger I've ever had. No doubt about it.
Nice beer list and great food. Very creative Burger of the month.
Very good quality food. Fast service and great drinks.
The menu changes, some items are amazing others are ok. I find quite a lot of the dishes have a sweetness to them. I don't mind ppl playing with flavors but sweet seems to be the go-to on most things and I'm not a fan of that.
Food was spectacular, and our server Daniel was one of the friendliest, most knowledgeable and most attentive servers I ve ever had. Will absolutely be back.
The French toast wasn't great but that gravy on the biscuits and gravy was amazing!
Good food in downtown Maplewood. A nice selection of dinner and appetizers. Good selection of wines and spirits too. Cocktails were fussed over which ia nice. Make the trip!
Low key spot for great drinks. Adjacent to the main drag in Maplewood. Apps we're good!
Service was very good. Meal was alright but price was way up there. Restaurant had a fruit fly problem and an atmosphere that needs redecorating. Wouldn t go back.
Very good burger. Strange that a foodie place would use bleu cheese dressing though. Beautiful blend of flavors throughout and can't complain. The mac and cheese is a different story and will not order again. Nothing here was disgust and I will certainly return to try the rest of the menu!
Incredible, home made food at wonderful prices. We love to try new places and rarely go to the same place twice, but we cannot wait to go back! Thank you!
Great local establishment. Unique and tasty food. I heard the drinks are good, but I wasn't partaking.
