the Arts Centre, Melbourne Review

My first visit to the arts centre was to see The Merry Widow and I love every moment of it.

The venue is absolutely wonderful, the heart of the arts precint in Melbourne is truly a must see for anyone who has not had the chance to see it for themselves.

Wonderful venue as always. Conveniently located and well designed.

A Melbourne Icon. A wide variety of entertainment and fabulous food and drinks at The Barre. Love it!

Cafe is a hidden gem. Great service and excellent food to pick from.

Go place to go to see some live entertainment has parking facilities in the entertainment area

We went to Hamer hall for the MSO. As usual it was wonderful. A great venue. Parking close by is easy if the arts centre carpark is full. Also the carpark under the Langham is much cheaper if you are happy to walk 200m.

Love it. Saw the 80s exhibition, brought back a lot of memories.

Went to see Calamity Jane with my mother and had a great time, play was amazing and extremely funny, the facilities are clean, nice and modern. I always love going to the arts center.

Beautiful complex but they need to remove the carpet in the State Theatre. It looks fabulous but it absorbs the sound.

Hard to remember what Melbourne's skyline was like before the famous Art's Centre spire. A great space for local productions.

Never had such a outwardly dull building so inwardlyy ignited

Probably was quite nicely decorated in the late 1990s, but it's a bit dark red and gold bling. Rooms are fine for a conference, though the layout is a bit hard to make work for delegates. Highly confusing signage saying "Arts Centre Melbourne" in front of an adjoining building as well.

Nice place. 90% of exhibitions are free. Can spend whole day there, take sandwich with you.

Sat in row A stalls. Good view of the stage. Very comfy seats with wide aisles

Interesting art work and many displays the finest art work in Australia

Great acoustics, friendly staff, convenient location close to restaurants shops and bars

Easy to navigate, interesting exhibitions. Largely free too

Many works by Australian artists are on display.
Admission is free.

I have been a few times, always something fun to discover

The Dior Show as brilliant and a World class presentation.

The perfect place to expand your exposure to phenomenal art and exhibitions. Plan ahead, pick appropriate times to avoid crowds and enjoy the indoor and outdoor environments. Independent of age the Melbourne art centre caters for everyone.

One of my favourite places to visit in Melbourne. The interactive children section is a wonderful way to expose your kids to the art world.

The space is set up for the paintings, not people which is nice. Free coast check is good. Only downside is that it's not in the free tram zone

Iconic hot spot of Melbourne. Great cultura programs.

Fantastic galleries and always something interesting to see. The Sunday markets are also well worth visiting.

Generally very crowded especially weekends. But something interesting is always on display.

Just enjoyed the Teracotta Warriors. Melburnians are so lucky with our fantastic arts precinct.

Visited the Arts Centre Theatre Melbourne last night as UK visitors ( daughter bought us tickets) WHAT A FANTASTIC SHOW.... CHOIR OF MAN!! Fabulous!!!
Brilliant atmosphere, and lovely guys so talented!! As they are UK performers and this was their opening show.. what a huge success!!
Great idea. The pub setting, and inviting audience to partake. The show is not to be missed. It was fun, entertaining and had the audience engaged from start to finish!
Fun, laughter, brilliant, musical, dance, wow the place was Rocking! they can sing and play instruments superb!

Always love the extra attention you receive at The Arts Centre venues.

Awesome place, can get very busy to see the main attractions, but there are some fantastic free exhibitions. Really good building.

A not to be missed place if you are in Melbourne. They sometimes also have some extra art installation outside like today, I managed to attend the house of Mirrors which was quite a quirky installation. Could go back again and again and find something unique every time!

Review C/- my parents who went to see "Chicago" ... The issue they both had being older citizens is their seats were on the lower floor (great seats) so getting the escalator down was fine but there was NO escalator getting back up! Alot of people were struggling to walk the many steps back up and given the day was extremely hot - they were exhausted. Otherwise facilities / theatre was great

This is a world class venue that displays artwork on par with art anywhere in the world

Couldn't get a program unless you are on the top and button floors during intermission! Poorly run.

Visited the Sunday art markets that had an awesome selection of locally made products that are often not available in retail type shops.

I went to see the triennial exhibit and loved it! Good way to pass some time in Melbourne :)

Beautiful. The hub of the arts precinct in Melbourne. See Ballet, comedy, drama or all genres of musical performance at this great venue.

A beautiful place! Was here for a conference and was very wow'd by the red carpet and city views.

The building itself is worth a visit and most of the works are pretty. Note that you will have to leave your backpack at the entrance (there is a secure cloakroom).
