Lovely Thai restaurant, good service, great selection.
This hotel has undergone a referbusment and it s really good, really friendly staff and great Thai restaurant. I felt safe and comfortable here lovely garden as well .....
Checked in on 7th April , very good hotel but need some renovations and clean up.
Great food, beer & prices plus a wonderful interior and garden.
There is no elevator but only one flight of stairs. Room was clean and comfortable and we even had a floor fan. The garden was beautiful. There is a Thai restaurant in the hotel but we chose to eat at a local pub. No parking here but you can pay to park just across the street. They have an amazing breakfast included in the room price. Full English breakfast or several other choices. Would stay there again.
Staff were great and very helpful. The hotel itself definitely needs upgrading. Unfortunately we stayed on the hottest day of the year and with no a.c. available trying to sleep was nigh on impossible.
We had our wedding here and they couldn't of made it more special, Bob was fantastic and looked after us from start to finish. The food was perfect and all done for a very reasonable price. The room we got was lovely and I cant recommend this hotel strongly enough!
2nd stay and still disappointing. No breakfast available even though package booked. Only Thai food in the restaurant which was truly awful. Toilet in room still had someone else's kind gift stuck to the side. Avoid!
Excellent Hotel, good beers, wonderful function capabilities (hosted my daughter's wedding, made for the perfect day), highly recommended
It was a good visit and the young lady who was serving was very pleasant, hard working she did not stop while I was there it was quite but with the correct regulation in place.
The staff are lovely and the garden is beautiful. The interior of the hotel needs some work. Its such a stunning building that has been neglected and needs a good clean. Just not finished very well. Its a shame they seem to care more about the functions (weddings, birthdays etc) than the hotel side.
The room we stayed in was big and spacious just needs a little spruce up, tea and coffee facilities were good and we had a fridge which unfortunately didn't work.
The breakfast was fine either full English or any variation, toast and cereals.
Lovely hotel, the garden is beautiful and very family friendly!
They say The Beatles stayed at this hotel in 1965 whilst filming Help! To pay homage to this they have decided not to clean the rooms. Although clean towels provided every day the room wasn't vacuumed at all. Poor service in the breakfast room. Wouldn't stay again.
Traditional thai food in Wiltshire.
Say no more..
Clean and always have been welcoming ! Great staff and good food! Xxx
Great public bar very helpful staff but toilets were not clean
The room was tired with curtains hanging, toilet floor was filthy and as we stayed for 2 nights we expected the room to be serviced I. e bed made bins emptied not good service.
Very nice venue and nice rooms although the bed i had on second visit was a tiny single and I mean tiny ...lovely bar and gardens and very chilled feel to the place ..with a top restaurant inside to x
A beautiful historical hotel with exceptional facilities - wonderful garden, rooms, restaurant, bar with a great range of drinks, friendly professional staff, fantastic food, great venue with ample seating, ethical, charitable and community centred - The Antrobus Hotel in Amesbury is close to world famous Stonehenge and local amenities. The hotel hosted, without charge, a free Christmas Day meal for anyone who would have been alone on Christmas Day in 2018. Very highly recommended!
Clean, basic, friendly. Dog friendly and good sized rooms. Only negative was the wedding party that had their photo booth set up in the lobby, meaning loads of marauding kids when all you want is a quiet night.
Great stay. Room was clean and well kept. Staff wa a very inviting and welcoming
Excellent thanks the lady at reception gave us a little of the Hotels great History.
And told me where the Beatles stayed.
We arrived at 14:30 to check in and were given a key to a room, as we walked up the stairs there was dirty bedding all through the corridors and on the landing. Then we had to walk over the dirty bedding and all the cleaning crews supplies to get to the room. We then entered the room to find it had not been cleaned. We then asked reception and were asked to wait 20mins for the room, even though check in was at 14:00. I then was asked twice why I wanted to use the room and what plans did I have that I couldn't wait. They then moved us to a different room so we could get ready as we said no due to needing to be at a party at 15:00. They said the maid would move our stuff into the other room, but we had 2 dogs in the room so that wasnt an option. So we had to wait until the cleaners had cleaned that room.
The room was full of dead bugs and cobwebs and the bathroom absolutely stank of sewage to the point I thought one of our dogs had had an accident, we had to shut the door to the bathroom for the whole stay as it was that bad.
We went to breakfast and its served in a cramped unkept conservatory when there is a restaurant in the building that is large and very nice. There was again dead bugs in the window and cobwebs on furniture. The breakfast wasnt great either.
I loved staying here, very friendly hotel with a decent bar and Thai restaurant, beautifully grounds outside the back.. top class
Nice setting and range of English and Thai food, plus a lovely garden
Toilet not cleaned from previous guests, hole in the floor that made us trip and tried to charge twice for parking. Staff friendly but they have much improvement to make. Only advantage is that the place is close to the Stones.
This place is in need of updating and modernisation- it is very tired. Despite there being guests staying, not a single member of staff could be seen in the morning
We attended a wedding here and found the staff friendly and welcoming. There was a great selection of beers at the 2 bars and the food was amazing.
The garden remains lovely, Taylor behind the bar was lovely, but the place still looks in a state of disrepair. Hopefully once complete, the renovations will make the whole place brighter and cleaner.
Very much enjoyed our stay, very friendly & comfortable. Kids 11, 13 & Dog very happy.
Came here for a Thai Food lunch with our group. Waiting staff was quite impatient.
My husband asked for some cut fresh chillies twice (once at beginning of service, and 2nd time when main course was being served), and one of the staff told him quite begrudgingly that the chef was too busy pushing foods out so he couldn't accommodate our request. We understand it took time to serve our large group and we'd be totally ok not getting our cut chillies, but the way the staff responded left a bitter taste, just feel she could've been a bit nicer.
Food was good though, and the hotel looks quite nice.
I think the Antrobus is a great pub, good ales and decent food. This place in the summer is perfect, it has a massive beer garden with nightlights and a water feature in the middle. It has a Thai restaurant on the right and and a bar thats on the left. It would have given it a 5 but the toilets could have been in better state for a pub of this standard.
Attended a wedding reception here. Great venue especially having an enclosed garden area. A bit pricey but then again no different than most venues like this. Recommend getting drinks form bar inside as more expensive at outside bar!
Located in Amesbury town, this wonderful old building has an atmosphere all of its own. The room we stayed in was spacious and tastefully decorated. In-room facilities were as would be expected with a large and clean en-suite. The bar was friendly and warm and the staff and service welcoming and attentive. The Thai restaurant in the hotel looks inviting and has a good reputation. Being in the town centre, the hotel suffers a little from weekend street noise at night, which marred an otherwise lovely stay.
Very good restaurant, reasonable prices and superb service.
Many thanks, the food is well explained in terms of spices.
I recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience or already knows about Thai food!
Lovely place, garden has wonderful in the sunshine and the events are great . Nothing is too much trouble for Angela and the team . Highly recommend
Stayed in the Premier family room for one night. Everything about it was awful.
The carpets were disgusting. Old, dirty, covered in dirt and human hair. The beds were awful. Mixed sized divans without covers, sheets with stains, old sunken mattresses. The windows were filthy, covered in dirt, looked like they hadn't been cleaned for years. The tv screen was covered in furniture polish. The bathroom floor looked clean, but had a slimy film over it making it incredibly slippery. Oh and the walls were stained.
Awful awful experience.
Good service, nice big room. Friendly staff. I recommend it.
Sadly run down, popped in for a luncheon with work friends, the drinks were ok in price, however i was surprised how empty it was, it used to be the goto working lunch pub, however all became clear as the visit went on. The largest room leading to the garden smelt of damp, and on looking to the ceiling you could see there had been a water leek of some magnitude, and some rudimentary repair was going on.
We enquired over having lunch and the barman looked somewhat vexed resorting to looking at his phone stating he wasnt sure if there was a kitchen today? (Why wouldn't he know, its his job to know)....
The Antrobus as i recall used to always do a fab lunch time menu, however it would seem its dependant on whether the cook turns up.
We thought as it was a nice day and with drinks already ordered we would just have drinks in the garden. Oh dear, just no pride in the appearance, dirty ash trays were left unemptied from the previous guest, glasses too also scattered about not retrieved and the actual tables were sticky and marked. Not impressed, and trust me they were definitely rushed off their feet.
A few mins later the barman appeared to confirm that the girl that does lunches isnt in that day so no bar food or meals available! Thankful for small mercies if the impression was anything to go by.
The Antrobus Arms was tardy, and the place desperately requires some TLC and investment. Its a shame because it once was a great eatery as well as hotel/bar.
Went to the Siam smile Thai kitchen with friends for dinner. Wonderful meal. Great and friendly atmosphere. Would recommend.
Basically alright
New mattresses are urgently needed
And without socks I would not run around.
But completely outdated as almost all hotels in this area.
Havent visited for some years having moved away from the area.Fantastic place to meet friends to relax in there beautiful garden.Lovely staff.Hotel full of history.
Very friendly but bathrooms are poor standard breakfast was warmed up feels like fawlty towers
We had a fantastic meal at the Thai restaurant within the Antrobus hotel. The food was yummy and the service was friendly. We would most certainly recommend and will be visiting again.
Lovely, peaceful hotel with stunning garden - this is one of my favourite places in Amesbury, so much so, I wanted to get married in the beautiful garden out the back! It was a fairy tale, outdoor wedding and I couldn't have asked for more!
The staff are amazing... the bar prices are very good and the Thai restaurant is exceptional.
If you haven't popped in before, you really should.
Lovely surroundings, beautiful garden and indoor decorations. My friend and I had quiet drinks in an atmospheric garden. It was quiet but with a few lively customers. I will return again.
Avoid like the plague. We booked a room on the strength of the rooms on the website, caution these are not the rooms you get on arrival. Our family room consisted of two very worn single beds (you could see dip in mattress from across the room), and a leather put you up, which is impossible to sleep on as has zero padding and timber frame protrudes when you lay it flat.
The room was filthy and boiling hot I appreciate that it's a hot summer but we had one filthy fan in room which did little to comfort my 4 year old and pregnant wife not to mention me. This was compounded by the fact that there is a late night pub/club immediately next door which had loud music until circa 2.30am so couldn't open windows as music kept waking us all up.
After around 4-5 hours sleep we left the hotel at 6am and left a note for management to give us a call to discuss. No phone call, but instead we were charged full rate for family room (just came off debit card).
We have tried calling 4 or 5 times and left messages for management without a return call.
Whilst hotel looks nice in pictures the room and the experience was truly aweful. I will be telling everyone I know to avoid.
Have been here twice now.For us the bonus is they take dogs. It's an old fashioned hotel that some would say has seen better days but the rooms are big,the bath is big(there is also a shower). The staff could not be more helpful. Our room had it's small anomalies, such as a piece of wood to hold the window open! However, the beds are very comfortable, the bar has an open fire , the garden has a lovely fountain and the breakfast is 1st class. This hotel is probably not for everyone but if you are willing to take it for what it is I'm sure that you will have a good stay. There aren't many hotels like this left and we love it!
Stayed here in July 2020, and the room looked as though it had not been cleaned since before lockdown due to the thick layer of dust everywhere. Which was surprising due to us having the famous Beatles room, but this could have also been due to the lack of customers & staff. We were not informed before arrival that there were major refurbishments and no breakfast available! The receptionist did not offer a discount even though breakfast was included in the price. And when we enquired to see the manager we got told there were no managers available. Would not recommend staying here!!
I have to say, this was one of the most welcoming hotels ive stay at, ive never felt so welcome. I really enjoyed my stay.
An absolute disgrace......I wouldn't put my dog here.
Avoid,
Dirty, falling down, decrepit, disgusting
Super firendly staff, nice room, wifi a little ropey
Nice rooms. Clean. Bar served Thai food which was delicious.
Old world style hotel with a bit of Fawlty Towers about it, but great staff, good beds, and a nice garden in walking distance of Amesbury's bright lights make it a safe and enjoyable bet.
If you are tired of the bustle of city and want to escape the stress, then you should come here. The Antrobus Arms Hotel is the perfect place for relax.
A beautiful building with a lot of history, clean and tidy, incredibly friendly and helpful staff.
And as a bonus, you can watch the stars from the cozy garden.
I'm sure that in London we all forgot how many stars shine for us every night.
You will be surprised.
Very pleasant service from an extensive menu. I recommend a visit.
we had an expensive room and it was not worth the money at all: not clean, bad smell in the bathroon, toilet seat almost fell off, no cosey lights, not nicely decorated, old beds, bed cover too thin (cold!). Only good thing was the breackfast and the staff was friendly (they can't help the hotel is in such a bad state). Whole building quite torn down, needs refurbishing!
The Hotel itself is a lovely place. However this visit was rather spoilt by waiting far to long for staff to notice us (as well as other customers) and serve us. If it was busy this would have been understandable but I don't think that less than ten customers in total should cause such a delay.
