Long lines and worth the wait if you are the tourist, I leave only 4 stars for it's pricy items and over salted flavor.

The juciest most tender and flavorful fall-of-the-bone meat I've ever had. I have 7 solid years of fine dining exposure based on The Ritz-Carlton standards... This meat is top quality. The presentation is casual but the experience will blow your palate! The Brisket is my favorite and the pork ribs are second best.
In my top tier of BBQ places in Austin. Been here 6-8 times. Consistently good brisket. Get the small family pack if you have a group of 4+. You can also mix sides into a single container (they told me) which makes it good if you just want a taste of several. Line is usually decent during lunch hours except on the weekends.
Very tasty barbecue and the wait isnt too bad, at like 20 minutes at 1pm on a weekday.
Terry Black's lives up to the reputation! The Beef ribs, the sausage, the brisket were terrific as expected. The real sleeper was the pork ribs. Make sure you grab at least a couple to try.
The Mac and cheese though...!!! I will admit, I may or may not love this place for the sides :P . My first visit here ended up with a very disappointed super super salty lean brisket. I'm not one to shy away from salt especially on a hot day, but that I wasn't able to finish..Or really have more than 3 bites. Moving on, their lean brisket every now and then still is too salty, but when it's a good day it's 10/10. I also tried the regular sausage that I liked.
The food was good but over priced and not the best barbecue I have ever had.
Every time I'm in Austin, this is my favorite place to get BBQ. I've never seen big lines at this place, which is what I tend to avoid, but there's always people here. The BBQ is amazing! Some of the best brisket I've tried in Austin. So is the sauce. Highly recommend.
Everything is great. Brisket, pork ribs, sausage. The key is consistency, which they have.
Everything was excellent! The potato salad was the best I have ever had.
The sign in front of the store says Top 50 BBQ restaurants in the world. I couldn't see anyone arguing with that. Best brisket that I have ever eaten.
Oh buddy I had some of the best brisket I've ever had in my life and super friendly staff making the whole experience more enjoyable
Amazing food, great experience. While walking put I had the pleasure to meet the Owner. Was very nice and genuinely wanted to ensure we had a great experience. Highly recommend. Thank you.
I like BBQ, you like BBQ, Terry Black's has the best brisket I've ever had...get the fattier side...you mouth will thank you.
Awesome BBQ! Definitely a top 5 in Austin with a reasonable line wait.
I drove 5 hours to get here after watching a FB video and it was worth it!
I had the brisket sandwich with a mac-n-cheese side. The sandwich was huge. Very moist, pretty lean, and very tasty. Nothing special about the mac-n-cheese, good but nothing to write home about.
Surprisingly quiet. We ate at 8 PM on a Thursday, so not too crowded. That might have been part of it. With lots of people, it could be noisy.
Counter service was a bit confusing. I was told I could substitute a beer for the drink on a combo plate. Well, sorta: you get a dollar off the beer.
We tried every meat dish except for the turkey and they were all delicious especially the beef ribs. The line was not too long when we arrived and evenoved quite fast. Definitely worth the visit
Too salty. But the brisket was so tender. It would melt in your mouth.
The Brisket was nothing short of excellent. The spicy sausage was on point. And the sides didn t disappoint either. My favorite side is probably the creamed corn. The parking situation isn t ideal, but if you circle around a few times, the guests are rotating through quickly enough that a spot will open up on a busy evening and is definitely worth the hassle. Definitely plan on coming back next trip to Austin.
My life is forever changed.....for the better!!!!!!
*Side note: I used a plastic for to cut through my brisket. That's how tender the meat is. A big shout out to the chef and friendly staff! Thank you all for a wonderful Texas BBQ experience!
Yum just yum. Go here, but parking is difficult at times. But again YUM
A little pricey, but friendly staff and the food are great.
Chopped beef is the best I've eaten. Sauces for every taste. Parking limited. Very popular. Recommend 3pm.
Worth. It. Only things keeping me from giving 5 stars are the sides. The coleslaw and potato salad were bland, but the corn was amazing. Everything else was killer.
Excellent. Line out the front and I see why. Worth the wait!
If you go to Austin you have to try them, an excellent flavor and variety of many sauces, the best and with an excellent variety of drinks
Traveling to Texas and between Hard 8 in Dallas and Terry Blacks in Austin I ve had the best BBQ I have ever had. The brisket is amazing. Texas knows it s bbq
I think we're one of the most crazy family, that we drove 170 miles to eat BBQ here. It was an amazing experience. Food was great. I spoke one of the floor manager he was nice. Don't know when but we will come back when ever we go crazy for BBQ.
Loved sampling everything! Came here for lunch on a Thursday and the line wasn t too long (maybe 5 people ahead of me). I am not too much of a meat eater but the brisket was delicious (I got two slices). My whole meal came out around $16. There is lots of outdoor and indoor seating.
My favorite side was definitely the Mac n Cheese- it was creamy and didn t taste too heavy.
Pretty good BBQ. The brisket makes it all worth it.
Great BBQ! We had to wait in a pretty long line, but it was the weekend.
Loved this joint. Good bbq, cold beer, great relaxed environment. Sides were good, especially the corn bread.
I ate the biggest and most delicious beef rib I've ever had. It may have been a Brontosaurus rib. It was huge.
Good BBQ with lots of seating. The food comes fast and is yummy. The place smells so good the neighbors complain (seriously).
The beef ribs are the best I've ever had. Excellent pork spare ribs. Outstanding brisket. Order "moist". The best smoked turkey I've ever had. My wife loves the cole slaw. I eat way too much Mac and cheese, of course. We often get carry-out. I spend $160 and have enough food for four people, with leftovers for another 8 meals! That makes the cost so reasonable, at about $13.25 per meal. I can't cook for that price. That includes onions, pickles and a couple of loaves of white sandwich bread. And they provide a couple of containers of barbeque sauce! Remember to ask for it.
Let me tell you... us Texans don t play about our BBQ. I came from Houston to check this place out and it does not disappoint. We got here right when it opened and not even kidding the line was out of the door 10 minutes later. That s crazy! Please do yourself a solid and get the brisket, ribs, and their cornbread!!
The Brisket & Beef Ribs at Terry Blacks was so moist and delicious. Don't forget to get their Mac & Cheese!
As a Canadian with little authentic south bbq experience, all the food here blew my mind. So good and great atmosphere.
Terry Black's has officially become our favorite BBQ place in Austin. We came on a Saturday around 6:15pm and the line was pretty long and we did not think it moved as fast as at other bbq joints. But the wait was totally worth it! We tried the pork ribs, moist brisket and turkey. For sides we had Mac and cheese, green beans and potatoes. We also tried their banana pudding desert. Everything was exceptional. Would definitely want to come back and try their sausage and the beef ribs (the beef ribs are huge and over a pound so we need a separate trip for that!). They have Terry Black's bbq parking only which seems to be permanently full but we were able to get a spot. And as an added bonus, as we walked out we got to see what is actually happening behind the scenes! The smokers are incredible!!!
One of the best I have ever had. Waited an hour but so worth it.
Good food. Lots of atmosphere. Turkey is juicy, if not very smoky tasting. Green beans are really good, not over cooked like most southern places. Corn bread is really good too
Fantastic bbq, especially the brisket. Sausage and ribs are amazing also. You can't go wrong here.
So far this is some of the best BBQ I have had in Texas. Make time to visit this place if your close to Austin, its worth the time!
Good barbecue but too salty and the sides were just ok
This place is the king of barbque, I have been to the original one in lockhart and been to the one in Austin. you got to try the lean brisket, pork ribs, Mac and cheese, and potatoe salad.
Great bbq sold by the 1/3 1/2 and lb. The sauces didn't live up to the bbq.
This place is really good, food was outstanding. I'm a BBQ snob and I give this a 5 Star. The brisket and Fred Flinstone Beef Rib are to die for.
Only drawback is you pick up your sides before the meat, sometimes slow customers can't figure out what to get so it takes a few minutes.
Best BBQ I've had in my life so far. Now I haven't had Franklin's (yet), but I've had Snows. The brisket was a dance party in your mouth, but the beef rib is probably the closest to having sex with a super model any of us will get to experience.
BBQ was excellent!!!! We got the brisket and pork ribs, seriously delicious! Side were pretty good, but nothing crazy good... but would for sure eat them again!
Moist brisket was fall-apart tender, good taste, thick sliced, some of the thick fat could be trimmed. Turkey was tender and moist, but didn't taste smokey enough. Good cream corn - sweet enough for desert - mac and cheese was okay, nothing special.
Everything here is delicious. I would recommend going during non-peak hours, however, if there is a wait, don't run away. It's worth it. The sides are good, but the proteins are the stand outs here. The beef rib and pork ribs are my favorites.
You can also get frozen sausage to go to enjoy later, sans the wait.
