Terry Black's BBQ Review

This place is awesome, the food was so delicious!! Wish there was one in California! I got the brisket and the beef ribs with sides of Mac and cheese, green beans, creamed corn, and coleslaw. There wasn t a single thing I didn t like. The only thing that sucks is I won t be able to eat it until I m back in Texas. Great place I definitely recommend a visit if you re into BBQ!

I LOVE all of their food!!! My favorite is the pork ribs. I got to them once and I still haven t got a chance to get in before the crowd got all the pork ribs. But that gave me an excuse to try other items. I will come another time and try to get there earlier when the menu is all available! All employees are super friendly, they always have a smile on them. Nothing I could ask for more at a Restaurent! Love!

The food was exceptional. The beef ribs were unbelievably incredible. The Brisket was exceptional. The side of Green Beans were like grandma made. A staple of the area and a must place to eat. I recommend going early as the sell out of food.

They showed immediately why they are one of the premier places in Austin to go to. Staff was really friendly and showed why they loved working there. The brisket and ribs were outstanding! When we come back to Austin we will make this a must go!

Very good BBQ joint. You get lots of food. Brisket is very tender and smoked just right. Be prepared to wait especially during peak dining hours.

Best brisket I have had in my life!! This is the best BBQ place in Austin!! Everything was delicious! Craving it thinking about it now!! We came right when it opened up and got our food pretty quick. Great atmosphere!

Classic Texas barbecue. Brisket, ribs, sides... One of the better places in Austin for 'cue. Get there early if your can. 5 minute wait at 6:45 PM. 30+ minutes after.

Amazing BBQ!!! Everything moist. Great flavor including the sides. They support the Military also. So delicious would definitely recommend.

If your looking to get your meat sweats on, Terry Blacks is the place to go! Don't be shy, order you a fat beef rib with a side of beef brisket and then some pork ribs just so you can laugh at em ame say "see size does matter".

The meat fell right off the bone, and I was just amazed of how the guy just cut the brisket and the juice just came out. The sides were all homemade, and really nice. It would really be worth the wait, and your time!!!

Best brisket I had in austin. Beef rib amazing as well! Both were fall apart tender super juicy and full of flavor.

My wife and I do like the brisket, however the beef ribs was cooked to much and not juicy.

My first stop for BBQ when visiting from out of town. It couldn t be beat. The brisket is by far the best I ve ever had. Highly recommend.

BBQ isnt crazy special, its tender and on the saltier end, but the moist Turkey slices are fantastic! Love all of their BBQ sauces too. The creamed corn was a little watery than creamy, but still good.

Solid BBQ, tasty sides, and friendly staff. Line moves pretty quick, so don't be afraid if it looks a little long. Also it's one of only a couple of BBQ spots open on Monday!

No diaper changing tables or stalls"HHUGEE" negative!!! Food was good but bit salty/Briney.

Delicious but it can get expensive fast. Love their beef ribs but be ready for upwards of $20 a pop. The side a good and their brisket is tender and moist.

Everything was pretty ok. The beef rib was very salty but yet the brisket was under seasoned. Which I thought was interesting. The amount of seasoning they put on the beef rib they should have put on the brisket and vice versa. The sides were good. Banana pudding was wonderful. They have a nice small wine selection. I had a personal bottle of cabernet savion with my meal and took one to go. I got there a little after 5 and I was able to walk through the line with no problem. By the time I left, a little after 7, the line was beginning to wrap outside the door. Definitely plan accordingly.

Got there around 1 pm on July 4. The line was out the door and wrapped around the front sidewalk. They were selling beers outside, so a cold one helped the time go by a little quicker. After about 35 minutes we got to the beginning of the food area. There are about 10-15 beer options, then a few water and soda options. All the regular side options. Meat was good. I sampled a little bit of everything except the chopped beef, which had sold out. I'm visiting Austin, so I couldn't say how this compares to other venues, but I was happy and full.

Delicious!!! You have to order a combination of meats and sides, as they all complement each other beautifully. Creamed corn, ahhhh. This is a must-visit when in Austin!

Great BBQ. Line was quick. Sandwich place was super filling. Ready for a nap.

I've been here a few times. The Mac & Cheese and Banana Pudding are my must haves when I'm here!

Amazing BBQ, I arrived at opening and there wasn't a long Waite, an hour after opening the placed was packed. If you're in Austin, don't leave town before eating here!!!

Best barbecue in Austin! Low fat, well seasoned and very tender meats. I suggest you order the whole beef rib, you will not regret it!

5 stars = I loved it. Best bbq beef ribs I've ever had. Truly fall off the bone delicious. 2nd best was the brisket. Certain smokey flavor I really enjoyed. Oh and random, great green beans. So if you're in Austin and have a bit of money to spend (cause this place isnt cheap), at least stop by for the beef rib. And dont be afraid to try the spicy bbq sauce. It's not super duper spicy and I'm I wimp so this is saying a lot. Enjoy yall!

This has to be my favorite Texas BBq ever. EVERYTHING was amazing - I think we tried a total of 3 meats and 4 sides. All winners. Line is long but goes decently fast and definitely worth it. Expect to wait 45 min.

Eat at picnic tables. Meats are grilled Texas style, smoked, but no sauce. You add BBQ sauce at the table. Very good BBQ.

Hands down the best sausage I've eaten at a bbq joint. Ask for as many end pieces of brisket they'll let you have (you'll thank me later). And the slaw has some zing... so good.

Excellent quality meat! We got the brisket and pork ribs and both were extremely flavorful, tender, and perfectly cooked and seasoned. I didn't need any sauce, but there were plenty of sauces to choose from. The cornbread was fresh (still warm!) and was excellent. Cole slaw was more colorful than others I've had in the area, and was perfectly vinegary and sweet. Mac and cheese was also great. Basically the best BBQ we've had, as every part of the meal was very enjoyable. There was a line, but it moved quickly.

I mean it isn't Lockhart but still pretty good freaking bar b que in a very convenient location. Could use more parking. Go super early to beat the rush.

I wish I came to Terry Blacks for my first bbq spot, this place is on a whole different level than other barbeque spots in Austin! The briskets and beef rips are out of this world, they are so tender that you don't even need a knife to cut it. We ordered one beef ribs and 1/3 pound of briskets and it was enough to feed 2 people. Also the Mac and cheese was amazing! Definitely come here hungry and you'll leave very satisfied!

Fantastic bbq in a town with a ton of great bbq. Great seeing in Barton Springs Road. There can be a line but the afternoon gets you through quickly. I prefer their brisket and jalapeno sausage over others.

If you are on the lookout for some great eats, tune to Terry Blacks. Very consistent and less of a line compared to Franklin's. They will run out of certain things but lean towards something new if so. You won't be disappointed.

People said you have to try Terry black when you come to Austin! It's a cool experience with good food!!

The line is long because the BBQ is awesome. Highly recommend brisket with burnt ends.

BBQ at this spot - super good. Came in on a Thurs. The bill was decent. Feels like a cafe in Phoenix that I enjoyed visiting.

It was pricey and the bbq ribs were fantastic, didn t like the coleslaw(too bland) but the Mac-n-cheese was awesome.

Visited for the first time in the 8 years I've been here...I can finally agree with the sentiment that Austin/Texas has "amazing" BBQ! The pork ribs, brisket, and sausage were incredible.

Set up is different, almost cafeteria style. Sides and cornbread we're good, peach cobbler ok, but oh my, the ribs! So tender! Would definitely recommend.

One of the best, and most accessible Barbecue joints near Barton Springs. While the lines can be long, they're rarely unbearable, and the food is always worth it. They offer a variety of traditional sides, sausage, brisket, and ribs - all of which are prepared perfectly. If you're into smoked meats or need a spicy or sweet sauce fix, this is your place!
