The service at this store is rather elegant, the staff is very kind, and the shoe attendant Jack is very handsome and strong. I loved the member prices and I would definitely recommend this store fr any tennis, golf, or running enthusiast.
Blindly trust their stinging machines for set tension. No quality check after stringing. They say that their machines are high end and calibrate themselves. I ordered 25lbs and immediately checked it to be 21.7 on stringster app and 22 on arboz string tension check gage. Very pricey too. Not going back. Ever.
The tennis staff is insufferable. Snobby pretty boys who will gladly tell you why you're wrong. Go only if you can't wait for your Amazon shipment to show up.
I was not impressed with the golf section. Many of the items are WAY overpriced. Staff was just ok. Even their "sale items" were more expensive than other golf stores. Won't be going back.
Great variety and quality of active wear and then some. Not just clothing for tennis and golf but sporting goods as well. Plenty of knowledgeable staff all the time. Also saw an area where you can get your tennis rackets re-stringed.
Be careful!!!
My son tried tennis racquets and he selected one. I asked if we can buy the demo racquet. One guy at checkout desk said no.
Ok, I asked them new one then. So I was guided to another guy in tennis racquet area...he tried to find the same new one but it seems out of stock. he offerred me that demo racquet $80...and I ageed. (we even shaked our hands too.)
But...while checking it out the guy who told me not to sell Demo came and took the racquet by saying 'we dont sell Demo again!!!!'. And disappeared into somewhere back without any explanation.
I was standing in front of checkout desk and no one explained me about the situation.
That 'No demo sell guy' came back after five minutes and put the racquet back on the desk saying 'eighty dollors!!!' and then disappeared again!!!!
WTH...no explanation having customer five minutes and feeling like I tried to steal it...
there is obviously a hole in their manual or process..that is one problem I found...but another way bigger problem is handling customer with issue casued by the hole...
I bought a new women s Tour Edge golf set in January 2019, I use it 3-4 times per week, it now looks like it s 20 years old. I m very disappointed in the lack of quality with the clubs and the bag. The salesperson told me it had a lifetime warranty which persuaded me to make the purchase. He should have told me I would be disappointed, then I would have added money for a better set. I live outside of the US & I m stuck with this embarrassing set of clubs.
Fast and pleasant service! Robert is one of the nicest and most knowledgeable guys. Absolutely speak to him if you have any questions. No commissions here, just helpful and friendly people.
Good selection but the prices are a little high. If you're not a member you're definitely overpaying. They have mostly tennis and golf but you'll find some racquetball and squash equipment too. Their stringing department is very good and always busy.
Great selection of clothing and equipment together with knowledgeable staff. Prices are reasonable with a membership.
Have shopped here only out of desperation. The service at the racquet stringing department, shoe department and customer checkout is horrible. So much so that we bought our own stringing machine, shop online and wait in line extra time to avoid some of the disrespectful clerks when I have the unfortunate need for their merchandise.
Great customer service. We were able to wait whilevmy daughter's racket was restrung, and the rep who showed us rackets was very polite and knowledgeable
My husband regularly plays tennis and this is his go to place forclothing, shoes, and rackets. They allow you to hit with them in store and demo as well.
Great place to buy tennis equipment. Great staff helped us select the right fit for high school tennis player.
The staff is very snobby! Prices are high if not part of their membership program.
This is an excellent place to buy racquets, especially with the in-store hitting lane so you can try it before you buy it. From my experience, the staff were very knowledgeable, friendly, and also patient with me. I would recommend this to anyone!
Amazing! This is the best place to buy tennis raquets in the area. Even if it's your first time, the people there are very knowledgable and helpful. Their demo program is also key in finding the perfect raquet for you.
Rick and Scott are the best golf representatives on the planet
Great service, knowledgeable staff, awesome equipment trial policy.
Golf selection is much better than Dick's and on par with Golf Galaxy!
Great service from stringing, gripping department. Also love demos for 2.00 can't beat price. Been here many times and only had one bad experience with female demo tennis person who apparently thought my sons and I didn't look like tennis people and ignored us several times while she helped the preppy young boy and his well dressed mother who came in after we did. Sales people very knowledgeable
Everything one needs for tennis plus great prices. Become a member!
Great store with a place to hit balls when buying a tennis racquet.
They helped pick out the perfect racket by letting you test it in the store with their own unique ball dispenser.
I could spend a ridiculous amount of money in this place! LOVE the clothes
Mixed experience. First time Scott was awesome, explained very well and took his time. Second time guy had no name tag and barely took interest to help for demo Reqts v needed.
I heard a lot of about this place during my son's tennis season. I went to restring tennis racquets and my experience was terrible. The lady "Lisa" should learn what is a good customer service and how to respond to customers. In addition to this, I called earlier to check on using a team membership card for this services. I drove 20+ miles after they said "yes" and they would not accept this.
Bad service and not keeping their commitment... Choice of visiting this store is yours
Disappointing experience at the Tennis Company. I get the impression that the new ownership is not that customer-friendly. But thats just my impression. Good selection of tennis stuff.
My experiences have always been excellent service, fast, polite, and everything opposite of those who've posted negative reviews. Restrung racquets, bought various items, consistently great customer service.
Not a pleasant experience at the shoes area, a old sales man with name tag "Chris" is rude and not willing to help.
Store is being sold so inventory is low which means lack of sizes. They will not place any special orders if they don't have the size you want. I can only hope the new owners replenish inventory and keep the membership structure and members only prices, otherwise it won't be any different than Carl's golf or Dick's sporting goods.
I stopped in to get two tennis racquets restrung. The gentleman who assisted me was more than helpful and went above and beyond my expectations. He offered advice on tennis grips which was very helpful.
Robert spent some time with me yesterday to assist me with purchasing a new racquet for tennis. He was very patient in getting to know my specific needs and helped me make an educated choice. The whole store is awesome.
This is great spot for tennis equipment. They are changing inventory for golf.
The guys in the racquet department are top notch.
Love this place and the service is always top notch. And the shoes are on sale now, bonus.
Love the merchandise. I felt out of place. I'm African American. I bought a hat that says TaylorMade. I thought I told was 17.00$ or 22.00$ But when I got to the register she rung it up for 31.00$. Mind you I love the hat. I mentioned the price advertised. She said that's only for members. I was oh ok. How much is the membetship? I said ok. She did not ask if I wanted to purchase one or not? But I felt some type of way. Maybe because I'm African American. But anyway I will be getting a membership soon. I love the old school tennis skirts. The shoes, hats, everything.....
The only real tennis store left in metro Detroit. I make the drive to Royal Oak from Chesterfield at least a couple times a month. Great people and selection!
Joshua was very helpful with my purchase in the golf department. He got the range finder that was on sale and instructed me on having checkout confirm the sale price. Very nice experience.
Great customer service, knowledgeable personnel, all the goodies for tennis enthusiasts
They had everything related to tennis. Good service. Best place to get your racket strung.
Excellent customer service. Tennis racquet demos are great
Great selection of Golf equipment and a friendly staff always willing to help.
Been going to T&G for over ten years, but today's visit was my last. It's just not the same as before. New owners unnecessarily moved all kinds of things around and the ambiance just isn't right. Don't care much for their new-fangled website, either. The service isn't nearly as good as it used to be and half the store appears to be unorganized or cluttered. We'll miss you, Dave!
Good selection of tennis racquets. Their fairly price for non-members but the member price is definitely a huge discount.
Lots to choose from, very stylish and fun place to shop, but somewhat pricey.
I will be shopping here instead of the internet or big box stores. Tennis & Golf Co. has a friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff. I took as much time making my selection as I needed and never once felt rushed.
Great deals and nice clothes. Not very friendly. Seams like everybody else are close family. Maybe I'm just not in some secret club. Still live great deals.
Nice place and helpful staff! even though the ownership sounds like its going to change soon... Nick was a great help took time with my wife and I & gave us great advice !..Thank you
I've been a member on and off at this store for years, and all of my experiences have been positive.
Their pricing is arguably the best, and they'll match just about anyone's pricing. They carry a full range of products, tennis and golf. I am mostly a golf customer, and have never had a issue finding a brand or size.
I recently purchased a tennis racquet that I ordered over the phone, they matched pricing, and had it pre-strung for me so it was ready to go when picked up.
Good experiences, I would recommend this place.
I buy all my tennis gear from this shop. Very knowledgeable staff and helpful. They have a ball machine in the back so you can try out different racquets...also, you can take a demo racquet home for 1 week/2 bucks.
I've been buying tennis gear here for 20+ years now, dating back to high school. I'm surprised by all of the negative comments with regards to customer service. I've always found the experience here to be top notch. I've had helpful and friendly sales people in the shoe department, racquet purchasing and stringing. I can't remember running across any "rude" employees? I will say that the list/retail price has always been a bit inflated, but the club price is usually a good deal. Worth the membership if you intend to make a few purchases over the year.
After my experience today, I will NEVER shop here again.
Let me start by saying am not an anti-masker. But I also understand that there are certain people who simply are unable to wear a mask due to a medical reason.
I watched someone walk inside and they were immediately notified that he must be wearing a mask. The guy told the employee that he wasn t able to wear one due to a medical condition. The employees didn t care what he had to say and only become more hostile with him as he tried to reason with them. It eventually got to the point where the employee/manager/owner called the police on the guy simply because he was trying to explain that he could not wear a mask and saw no reason to given the recent ruling about the executive orders being unconstitutional/void. The customer went outside to wait for the police and the manager followed him out. Mind you, the customer was understandably frustrated but by no means belligerent or loud.
Anyway, the police showed up and it appeared like they all agreed with the customer but by then he probably didn t want to shop there anyway.
If this is how this business treats it s paying customers, I will not be back.
Great store for trying out Racquets, huge selection and even a place to hit tennis balls in store! Just know that the strings for the demos are very tight and do not reflect a good stringing.
Very Pleasant sales people and management. Lots of great choices of clothing and equipment.
Great prices and selection, especially if you are a member. They have a lot of nice clothes. You don't necessarily have to play golf or tennis to finds something you like.
Unparalleled customer service.
Good price discounts if you get the annual membership.
VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFULL STAFF. A GREAT PLACE FOR GOLF/TENNIS EQUIPMENT. FIRST TIME VISIT. I WAS IMPRESSED BY LAYOUT AND PRODUCT DISPLAY AND KNOWLEDGE OF EMPLOYEES
Amazing staff. Very customer focused! And the product! It isn't your dad's tennis and golf wear. They have a great sale going on now! Hey up there add
Always a great experience with their racket services and expertise. Very friendly and attentive staff. Hoping the ball machine will come back soon. Great deal on racket demos for the week. Wish you guys had an east side location!
Brilliant service ... Highly Professional ... Excellent recommendations.
Very accommodative ... Overall, this is THE place to buy your Tennis gear.
Broken strings, broken frames, swapping/extending demo racquets being
done in a very seamless, customer friendly way.
Keep up your excellent work T&G !
I just got back from the Tennis and Golf shop and it will be the last time I am doing business there. Nothing but attitude from the moment I walked up to the counter. I presented my tickets to pick up my restrung rackets and she informs me that doesn't mean anything that is not how the find them?! They are alphabetical and what type of rackets are they? Then they tell me they are not ready. I dropped them off yesterday and the man said 2 hours. But apparently he assigned a 12:30 pick up time so even though they had them for a day, they're not ready and it's my problem. I go the stringers and get a big attitude there so I go back and ask for the manager only to find he was standing there with the stringers the whole time and had bothered to speak up. Now I speak with him and to be fair he had less of an attitude and did get the job started. They asked for a half hour to do the work so I left and returned. When I came in a new women was behind the counter and was very nice. It was over until this wise kid stringer shows up the rackets and a big chip on his shoulder. The Manager saw me but made a point of staying away. Nice customer service guys, maybe you should take a class. These guys were arrogant want a be's.
I just finished reading the other reviews on the stringers and it seems like I am not the only with a problem. Maybe's it's time to dump the whole department!
My dad and I had a WONDERFUL experience at Tennis & Golf. When looking at shoes, both Tim and Chris were very attentive and helpful. Chris eventually matched me up with shoes that I just love and he explained the changes they made to their design that make them feel so good.
When looking at racquets, Ken helped me identify three racquets that I really liked the feel of and he explained that I could try them for a week before committing. Score! We enjoyed our experience so much that we reinstated our membership. Can't wait to go back and buy a racquet or two!
I have been a patron of Tennis & Golf Co for more than 2 years. I have purchased all my tennis equipment and apparel here.
The store has a small area where you can test racquets before deciding to buy them, but I've found it to be of limited use. They have a demo program, so for $2 you can take out a racquet for a whole week. The store will credit money spent on demo racquets towards the purchase of a new racquet.
The store carries most major racquet brands (excluding Prince). I believe that their collection of demo racquets is big enough to offer something for every level of tennis player.
They can and do string racquets in-house, and normally have a 1-hour turnaround time.
Their apparel collection too has very affordable items and very expensive ones too, ranging from Brooks to Nike\Adidas to Lacoste.
I also bought tennis shoes from here, and I got good service.
I find that you get better deals if you're a member, which costs $55 a year. I would suggest going that route if you're buying a lot from this store. Members get cheaper rates on everything.
I think the metro Detroit area is fortunate to have a store such as this, to serve tennis players and golfers in the area. Definitely worth giving your business to.
Good selection of clothing and gear and tons of staff on hand...but you pay for this in the price of the items.
Great place with great selection of higher end stuff. Not a discount place - just great service.
What a fabulous and swingin' place! Don't forget to put your keys in the basket by the door!
Merchandise is ok since new ownership took over. Store used to be racks of clothing, not so much now. Clearance section is hardly anything. Not alot of name brand items like addias and such, mostly golf stuff than tennis. Very disappointed.
Best place in Metro Detroit to string racquets and anything about tennis.
Great staff, always willing to help. Great selection as well.
