Went for an adults only night and the 'special theme' was crime scene investigation. It was definitely not worth the price of admission for the extra content. With tickets (let's say 2), drinks and parking you were looking at a $40 event with nothing more than a few screen prints of investigative techniques...

Love this place. The food is designer level, and has healthy ingredients. The branaisium playground is massive, and the tall slide is amazing with challenges. Lots of hands on science ,and fun activities. Displays were intresting. Staff are nice.
While it was fun for the kids, keeping track of them was a problem as was keeping their attention on any exhibit for more than a minute. Best part was the outdoor park but way too pricy for what we got.
Great fun to go to, if the traveling exhibits are interesting to you, otherwise the standard stuff that's always there is cool once or twice, but gets stale.
Very well put together exhibits that are informative for adults and children. Spark also has scheduled "science bites" where scientists will do live experiments such as creating different colored flames using various liquids and gases. Fantastic museum.
Such a fun place to spend a few hours exploring and discovering! Definitely recommend checking out the adult night if you don't have kids to bring along :)
I was just here for the Body World exhibit and that's about it. They should do this more often an exhibit that is worthwhile not only for kids but adults too. Without this kind of shows. This is just a mere ordinary not so worth it place to visit.
Even though we were only there for a short time with my son, we had a lot of fun. My son enjoyed himself and the food from Social Eatery was surprisingly really good. I had to steal a couple bites from my son's chicken strips. It's the same chicken as the one on the chicken sandwich, so you can also eat the sandwich to try out the chicken if you don't want the strips. Their condiments tasted delicious.
This place is incredible! My 8 and 10 year old loved it. We spent the entire day there. Go in nice weather and you will get to experience the cool outdoor playground too!!!
What a joke. While this place does have some nice features like the domed movie theater, actually very good food in the cafe and just nice visuals all around for kids too see.... Well... I'll quickly list things I thought were ridiculous. The place is falling apart. Many of the interactive things are broken. Carpet is ripped up and tapped down in many places. And you'd think the fact I payed over 100$ to get my 2 kids wife and I in the door, that it would help maintain the place. But no they still have signs often asking for donations. The cafe food was good but 9$ for a kids pasta??? Wow. The whale exhibit room, smelled like a old wet sock, maybe it's a "whale smell"? It was unimpressive for other reasons too. Cafeteria is very small but they do have seating in the back hall. Bathrooms were gross. The gift shop is (yes like most) verrrry expensive. 11 bucks for a slinky?? Something funny I found as I was leaving, the parking pay stations that have solar panels but are tucked right up to the building and get no sun but have a electrical wire running to power them... Science!
Super fun place to take the kids... Tons of cool science stuff, tons of people....expect to pay a good deal, about $75-100 for admission, not including the cafeteria. .. They charge admission for 3 year olds (13 bucks? Really?) Plus $5 for parking. Plus, plus. Very educational and fun, but taking your kids on a hike in nature will be invigorating... and less stressful (financially)
Starfleet Academy, do I need to say anything more!? And Keva block station. Great family day. We could have spent a few days there. 1 day was not enough. Friendly staff
Lots of neat and fun things to do. Kids are encouraged to learn about and experience .many exhibits and stations to play at and learn a great way to spend an afternoon together
Just raised their price up. 27 dollars for an adult. If you take your toddler just for few hours of fun, doesn't matter if you can or cannot go to the dome theatre - u have to pay the higher cost no matter what. That is ridiculous. Used to be $ 20.00. It is sad they got rid of the option of just visiting the exhibits. It is now over 100 dollars for family of four visit. Plus you have to pay for parking. The exhibits are great for little kids but way to expensive for a family. They also dont let you take pictures of some exhibits. The claim it is to "preserve the culture", but it is all about paying extra. If you pay extra they do not care about preserving the culture, you can all of sudden take as many pics as you want....
It is well worth the buck. All museums are great, this one is one of the nicest ones. The building is pretty basic but the exhibitions and the staff make it so, so much better.
Visited here while in Calgary and had a blast! We spent the whole day here, things that our toddler enjoyed and stuff parents will enjoy too! On the pricey side, so make sure to spend lots of time here to see everything!
Good place to get annual membership for family. They have a great outdoor playground, indoor playground for all ages and various stations for kids and adults to discover their love of all things science. There are also shows in their 3D dome that features different subjects like robots, the galaxies, bugs. This is also included in your membership too. Not to mention special exhibits hosted by Telus Spark every few months. The kids really enjoyed the Whales Tohora and Circus exhibits. You can use your membership in other Canadian cities as well!
One of our favourite places in the city! My budding scientist can never get enough of this place. Fun and interesting activities for all ages. Passes are worth it if you plan to go more than once. Great in the summer, with the outdoor play area. Great in the winter because there is so much to do inside.
Went to Spark After Dark Valentine's Day event. Lots to see and do, animal body exhibit was very cool. The dinner was decent quality food for event. Only complaint was some key items (charcuterie and oysters) started to run out about halfway through the scheduled dinner time.
We've been to the science center a few times, once for the Adult's evening and other times for exhibitions.
The adults evening was not worth the money. It is a shame but the science center feels like nothing more than a glorified children's day care. It is very kid-centric and there is not much for adults at all.
The first exhibition we went to was the Human Bodyworlds. It was amazing and there was a lot to see.
Recently we went to Bodyworlds Animal and it was terrible. We had to pay $26 per ticket which gave you access to the science center and exhibition. As I said above, the science center is like a daycare so that was not of use to us. The exhibition itself was pitiful compared to the human one we went to few years ago. It took us 10 minutes to walk around. It was also put together in a small area which was crowded, with children running around. It felt like a rip off that we couldn't just get tickets for the exhibition which turned out to be tiny.
We then went to the planetarium as we thought we should make the most of the ticket we had. The planetarium felt poorly designed to others I have been to. The seats didn't go very far back so it was uncomfortable to look at the screen. We ended up leaving before even halfway through the film.
It's a great place to take kids. I quite like the Body Worlds exhibit, though it is small compared to the dedicated ones I've been to before. Why four stars? Well... I know it's a challenge. My kids didn't get into many of the interactive stuff too deeply. They are 10/12 yo boys. That's probably just the way it is though!!
This is a really fun place! So many cool things to learn, look at and play with! The auditorium shows are very cool too! They have a little cafeteria which has a phone charging station which is nice, especially when you use your phone for photos and such all afternoon. The only complaint I have? I find the prices are a little too high for me to visit more often.
Meh. Not as fun and cool as Science World in Vancouver. Too expensive. Not enough staff available. Some interactive exhibits don't work very well. Lots of oil and pipeline propaganda. Skip it and go to the zoo instead.
They had a chance to create a world class structure and though the exterior hints at the possibilities, the inside is half-baked at best.
Steep (!) admission costs, lack of staff out front (on a holiday no less!) and a decidedly small array of things to do once you're inside and they've got your money.
To rate something like this, I look at the details: the food available (dismal and cheap), is like something out of a small town food fair. They literally sell cheesies and stale pizza. What they should have is a full serve espresso bar with sodas and hard to find drinks. Make it a special occasion where you can find things you can't find at a soon to be destroyed small town food fair.
The internet (Telus is all about internet) that they supply to the public who have paid to get in is abysmally slow and makes me glad I'm not a customer of theirs. You sign in, discover that the internet is slow, close your device for ten seconds, then when you open it the second time, you need to go through the agreeing to their terms all over again.
And lastly, the layout of what is inside... While I'm no engineer, I can see wasted potential everywhere I look.
Were this in a bigger city, it would not succeed. It is a pale imitation of the Vancouver Science center. And why should it be? We're a city of over a million people and we've got gobs of money. More than BC to be sure. People deserve better. Demand it. Especially when you're paying as much as you are to get in.
Went on May 19, 2016 during Adult Night for the Body Worlds Vital, lots of information and cool displays but they should limit the number of people in the exhibition at one time, It was very crowded and sometimes hard to get close enough to read the display.
Super happy fun times playing and learning with the kids, at the Telus Spark. The current circus exhibit is great, my son especially liked tight rope walking. Staff are courteous and friendly.
Visited Spark on a trip to Calgary from Toronto. We have an Ontario Science Centre membership, which gets us into Spark for free (reciprocal agreement between Canadian Science Centres). My kids loved the indoor and outdoor play areas, and I think we could easily spend all day here. The exhibits are new and well designed, with good use of low and high technology. The only downside is the heavy corporate presence & sponsorship that funded and made Spark possible. Better than nothing, I suppose.
Lots of broken hands on exhibits. Place is good for little kids 6 yr and under. Old science center was way better. They should change the name from science center to a giant over price daycare
This is one of my favourite places. There are wonderful small children's areas as well as areas for older children and teens. The staff and volunteers are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I love the outdoor play area. It also has various levels of physical challenges which suits wide age ranges. I have yet to enjoy a documentary in their theater but the live demonstrations are always engaging and informative. We are season pass holders and enjoy ourselves there during every season.
I took the family to see the "Animal Insides" exhibit. It was a little shorter then I hoped but it looked great with lots of information. Plus the rest of the science center is always a blast. Before we knew it 3 hours had gone by and we only left because we were all starving. I'm seriously considering a family pass.
