Always something new to see. Good cafe and s great place to meet up.
A sublime museum. Certainly the most intellectually interesting
Went to the Tate Britain to see the Aubrey Beardsley exhibition.Everthing was very well thought out.Enjoyed my visit.
Fantastic venue for viewing great art superbly curated.
Just a bit off the big tourist streams. Still worth a stop for any London weekend trip. Take the river boat. Enjoy a perfectly well curated ride through centuries of British art.
It will take you the whole day here. Nice contemporary and modern art. Great wifi and the cafe is expensive but nice.
Quite confusing to navigate on your first visit but the information desk was very polite and helpful. Queues can get pretty long and disorganised but people seem to be quite civil about it. The Van Gogh exhibition I went to was quite hot abd stuffy throughout on a reletivly cold day, I just hope it doesn't get and worse during the summer.
Enjoyed the Burne-Jones exhibition. Well presented.
Lovely venue
Spacious well maintained
They have thought about social distance and sanitiser is everywhere
The cafe is open and has outdoor tables
Great and numerous internationally renowned artists in an impressive setting.
Turner, Gainsborough, Moore - The Gallery houses the world's largest collection of British artworks.
The sculptures of Henry Moore are in my view a real highlight.
Admission is free, as with all state museums in London. Donations are gladly accepted.
Conclusion: Tate Britain - a must have for every London tour!
Perfect light to enjoy the paintings. Then if you like Freud, Bacon, Moore...
Extremely educational and artistic can be a bit expensive but it you love art it is worth it
excellent ratio of beautiful art: sculptures in funny poses
Great special exhibitions and members' room. Permanent collections of British art. The best place to see Turners.
It's a less well-known art museum than Tate Modern, but it's well worth the time. Rather, it is easier and more diverse than Tate Modern, so it is highly recommended for those who have difficulty in modern art!
Tate Britain is located in London and is the national gallery of British art, dating from Milbank London.
Superb gallery with the country's permanent collection of Turner paintings and drawings. Pretty good for Henry Moore too
Don't let the glam of it's Tate Modern little brother overshadow this great gallery. Its tracing of British art is unparalleled (and means there is something for everyone, whatever their tastes). While the exhibitions were wonderfully curated. And you are encouraged to draw as well!
It's one of my favorite place where to go and relax with a cup of tea and lots of paintings to dream about. Van Gogh exhibition is stanning...
I truly reccomand it.
Such a wonderful building in a beautiful location. The free collection is absolutely stunning; I notice something new every time I come here
This is a great gallery which houses art work from British artists. The most impressive of which is Ophelia. Don't miss this when you visit London!
Great gallery, food could have a few more choices.
This is a collection of works by British painters. The building itself is beautiful and the inside is well arranged.
It is less famous than Tate Modern and fewer people, but Tate Britain was even better when it came to work. I especially liked the 'The Turner Collection' room, which was a collection of works by William Turner.
I also have a boat trip between Tate Britain and Tate Modern, so I would like to enjoy the two Tate museums across the Thames.
Fabulous Van Gogh exhibition, a bit crowded even though we had booked a slot, cafe and loos leave a bit to be desired
A huge diverse range of art in the permanent collection is accompanied by some spectacular and challenging exhibitions. I have seen modern and classical exhibitions here that really opened my eyes to art. The building is gorgeous and the only criticism I would have is the members cafe.
I love the collection of British art! The rooms are so empty though, which is good for me, but not the Gallery. Good cafe as well! Spent a great afternoon here and will be back!
Worth visiting, one of the best free art galleries in London. Better than Tate modern.
Tate is an amazing place! The architecture is stunning and the arts around are beautiful!
Amazing! Was lucky enough to be there while the Van Gogh exhibition was on and there were such a great pieces, it was also a really moving exhibit. We also saw the Turner exhibition and I was highly recommend it, you could really see his progression through his art career and the change in his work over his last 20 years or so was really astounding.
Museum dedicated to contemporary and past British art (from 1500). It is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm. You can download a free app in order to have a free guide to the museum and thanks to which you can search for the paintings of individual artists within it. Admission is free but a donation is welcome.
A collection of works by British painters. Each room is divided by age.
The Turner collection seems to be the best.
Recommended by Turner and above is the work of the pre-Raphaelite painter, where many works by Rossetti and Millet are on display.
Also, there seems to be some works by Francisco Bacon, but there was only one exhibition.
Lovely gallery, and not too big or too small to walk around.
Huge modern art museum situated in an old power station over looking the Thames and Tower Bridge. Fantastic views across London from the members bar and restaurant in the main building. Always interesting exhibits for all ages. Must get the Thames Clipper ferry from outside to go to Tate Britain to continue your art tour. Many free exhibits, some require tickets and pre booking. Restaurant is fairly good and usually has availability. Membership is good value and gives free access to premium exhibits.
Hard going needs stamina and the bar closes too early!! :-)
A must! Very complete and free permanent exhibition. A gift to see Turner's paintings. 100% recommended. Better to organize the visit in several days Or decide which part you want to visit to not end up being visually exhausted.
The section dedicated to W. Turner is very beautiful and very accurate.
Beautiful place, so much to see. There is deversity in paintings, some are not seen or acknowledged before.
Went to see the Edward Burne-Jones exhibition, very impressed some beautiful paintings. Love the Tate, always very clean well laid out and helpful staff. Bags checks in place on arrival, they have a cloakroom for large bags and coats. Worth a visit, handy for the Thames clipper too.
Wonderful Art Gallery full of beautiful paintings, canvas, sculptures and World of JWM Turner collection... Best in London..!!!
A great place if you can avoid the busy times and people who seem to think that you will enjoy the back of their heads more than the art.
Beautiful time we travel in time there is art of all times
I highly recommend.
Beautiful building, well curated and wonderfully variable exhibitions
I have seen some great exhibitions here. Even when they're not great, the permanent exhibits are worth revisiting.
Drawbacks - it's hard to find your way around (where *are* the toilets?) and I still don't know where the members' room is. Signage is very poor.
Great mixture of art from a variety of periods. Turner collection a highlight.
One of the wonderful things about visiting London (which can be an incredibly expensive city) is the number of free options for art and culture. The Tate Britain is a beautiful building with a fantastic collection of sculptures. They have several Hockney s (one on display at the moment) and a tremendous Van Gogh exhibit this summer. A lovely morning or afternoon option and right next to Millenium Pier so grab your Oyster card and head up the Thames after your museum outing.
Always interesting and challenging. Non figurative art isn't really my thing, fortunately there are lots of understandable paintings and exhibitions as well as the incomprehensible. Some of the paintings have Instagram tags where you can see a mixed reality overlay of information about the painting which was great.
Another amazing art gallery and it's free worth your time and you can always have a break at the coffee shop. Very nice scones. There are some paid exhibitions but otherwise it's one of the best places to visit in London, away from the busiest areas and tourist traps.
Great British art with interesting exhibitions and a good shop3.
Superb collection of varied art all visible for free!! There's something for everyone. The setting is also beautiful. Could easily spend all day here.
The art collection is very varied. Paid exhibitions are not very accessible (around 25 pounds).
Magnificent collection of art works, terrific setting.
Fabulous exhibitions wonderful staff easy to get to
Tate Britain is, by definition, full of National Treasures. For a tourist a short learning curve on British History as well as British Art: for a local there is always an interesting exhibition ...what's not to like?
Fantastic art! Great exhibits. Don McCullin exhibit was heart stopping and tear inducing.
A nice change for London as there is no charge and worth an hour or 2
Smaller than what you can find in London but very interesting with modern works out of the ordinary. Addresses all styles.
Rachel Whiteread great exhibition. Amazing Classics, Turner
