Not really an 'arty' type but really enjoyed the Don McCullin exhibition. Had a wander some of the other halls and I guess you could spend all day there if that's what you're in to. 2 to 3 hours would suffice for a casual visit though. Cafe good but a little pricey and very busy.

A must-see in London. The rooms are arranged by decades so you can time-travel through 1840s, 1850s, 1860s and so.

Aside, you can't miss the Turner Collection. Just for this, it's worth visiting this museum.

This is one of your "must" visits in London!
An amazing collection of art with lots of events in one of the most beautiful buildings in London.
You need plenty of time to discover and enjoy all the art treasures!
This is a great choice for bigger children too!
I personally believe that art is extremely mind relaxing from everyday stress and monotony, and this place will always be a great experience!
Highly recommend!

I had planned to spend a couple of hours here but actually spent over 6! What a wonderful gallery to lose yourself. I really enjoyed the guided tour of the Turner exhibit. Our guide was both knowledgeable and engaging. Thank you.

Tate Britain, a short bus ride (no. 87) from the top of Whitehall/Trafalgar Square, deals with the history of British art covering the last five centuries. Worth a visit. Depending on exhibition subjects, it can also cover other country's art, such as "Aftermath: Art in the Wake of World War One", which shows art by British, French and German artists.

Superlative collection of British art, somewhat upstaged now by Tate Modern but still worth a day's visit. A great space that has been sensitively extended over the years. However, the 20th century collection on display is somewhat disappointing - presumably because the major YBA works, for eg, are over at Tate Modern. Great Henry Moore collection.

Probably my main destination for art while I lived in London and I also visit often when I travel there. Plenty to see but not too much, most of it's free, plus very good, though paid-entry, exhibitions.

There are beautiful paintings from different eras and some current "works"

The Van Gogh exhibition itself was amazing, well laid out, with some wonderful paintings. However, my visit was spoilt by many selfish people taking photos of the paintings on their mobile phones.
My view was constantly interrupted by people leaning as close as possible to the painting taking close ups, selfies, flashes reflecting on the picture, clicking noises etc.

Why does Tate Britain allow this? if visitors want a record of their visit then buy a book from the gift shop, the photos are bound to be of better quality.

It is an incredible and huge site, if you like painting and art, I recommend you visit it! Here you can find all kinds of art, from Gothic to Modernism. There are also great painters in the history of art, such as Turner. In addition, the rooms are divided by years, and you have a map, so it is very easy to be guided. Regards!

If someone considers himself to be in love with real art, and has not yet seen Turner in Tate Britain - I highly recommend visiting. Your presentation will change .. And if you were already there already - you yourself know that I'm right .. Give yourself a touch to the beyond ..

Free gallery. Some amazing art and follow the guide on the floor for a description of each period of art. Not as happening as the Tate modern but an excellent gallery none the less. Short walk from Pimlico station.

I recently visited Tate Britain on a Sunday afternoon. It is a really good place to see British art from 1500 to the present day. There are different exhibitions held and you can also go into the section on Van Gogh which recently opened.
I really enjoyed the variety of the museum and there is a good amount of sections to see. I spent about 2 hours here but could spent most of the day.
It is really smart from outside and a good opportunity for a photograph outside it.
I recommend Tate Britain for anyone who is interested in British Art.

In my opinion significantly more interesting than Tate Modern. Large exhibition focusing on 19th century British painters. Relatively few people so that one can actually enjoy the paintings.
