Visiting was a good experience, interesting mix of work on show, this time greeting the public outside, on the entrance steps, in the form of giant slugs.
Beautiful, well laid out and signposted exhibits, we specifically went to see the Burne-Jones which was magnificent. Highly recommended.

This is a must go as it has the Burne Jones exhibition till 24th Feb. All his best work on display and the canvasses are huge something u don't get from a photo in a book. 2 sets of group pictures worth mentioning are the 7 set Perseus legend with one canvas done in silver n gold which is totally unique; and other is the 4 set sleeping beauty fairy tale. The final room is exceptional as has these 15ft high tapestries with so much detail u could spend an hour looking at them alone. Conveniently located for bus n tube.

Went to see the Paul Nash show and was blown away by the comprehensiveness of the exhibtion. I've also seen Phyllida Barlow here and the exhibitions are thoughtfully-curated, well-documented and most enjoyable.
The gallery in general has some magnificent works and their focus on British art and artists is refreshing.

Well curated. Beautiful old building located near the Thames and a short walk from Westminster.

Lovely restaurant downstairs . With the amount of good exhibitions which they put on it is definitely worth looking into getting the tape membership card as you can use this at any of the tape is games throughout the year and it also allows you access to the tape members room which at this specific Tate is very beautiful and relaxing, nice to have a bit of an escape from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the museum.

Best art gallery in the U.K. beats the Chicago art institute by a long shot!
Well positioned art work and never a long line at any viewing.
Quite a wonderful place to relax; and take in some culture.

Just been to see the Don McCullin exhibition. Fantastic, thought provoking images...many I remember from the actual period they were taken. Iconic.
However...45 minute queue, even as Tate Members, wasn't great...although good to see people visiting these exhibitions.
One request...if you go to an exhibition people, especially one with images as harrowing as some of these were LEAVE YOUR MOBILE PHONE ON SILENT AND IN YOUR POCKET. Look at the photographs, don't take photographs or the photographs.
Sorry....rant over.

Excellent gallery.. I saw the impressionists in London exhibition...it was very interesting. The room that made it was the first showing the artists' reaction to the bombardment, defeat and then executions of the Paris Commune 1871... Many left going to London...

A wonderful place to be. I really enjoyed the paintings by Turner. It was not crowded and the building was so amazing. I would sure visit it again in my next trip to London for sure.

I went to GW in 2019. I was looking for Mire's Ophelia, but it was a very popular work ... I was on loan (in some cases I can not see it as well as other popular art works).
It is not a substitute, but we are holding a Van Gogh exhibition. I could watch a number of masterpieces up close and have had a very luxurious and satisfying time.
The permanent exhibition is free, but the special exhibition is charged. In addition, since Gogh is so popular that tickets bought at around 11:30 can be bought from 14:00. It was set by the time section, so once I went back to sightseeing after doing other sightseeing and shopping. Shops are also vacant in the morning.

The nearest subway station is Pimlico on the Victoria line. Closer is the bus stop behind the museum.
The buildings and facilities are really wonderful museums.

Went for the Burne Jones special exhibition. It was a wonderful sight to behold. The reason I've only given 4 stars is because the descriptive text to each painting was ridiculously small and hard to read with the large numbers crowding around!!

There are always a few gems but not everyone knows what to look for... I was lucky to have an expert with me at the Impressionist and the Human (body? ) exhibitions. Food in the cafe is good tho and the shop is one of the gems!

One of my personal favorites in London. Easy to get around, and a stunning collection.
We spent as much time in the shop and cafe as we did perusing the art - wonderful collection of gift items in the shop, and the cafe had a good selection at reasonable prices for a museum shop.

The shop staff were very friendly - one heard me mention a piece as my Mom's favorite by that artist, and brought over other items in the same print that I might want.

Wonderful mixture of 'established' and recently avant garde artists make this a must to visit - and to keep returning to. The superb Turner and Henry Moore sections by themselves draw me back each time I'm in London. Both artists are reminders that current definitions of 'mainstream' belie the fact these two both pushed the boundaries of artistic expression - and public and curatorial acceptance - for much of their careers. How exciting, then, to see the development of their respective styles displayed under one roof.

Big museum filled with British art. The highlight for me is that they have a beautiful display of Turner paintings, as it is very rare to see so many painting by one author together. I highly enjoyed their Van Gogh exhibition last year too. Would highly recommend going early when it opens as it is a bit more quiet and you can explore the rooms at ease. Also, taking the boat from Tate Modern to Tate Britain is extremely nice on a summer day.

No hesitation in giving this art venue 5 stars for it's free exhibition of classic paintings from artists like Gainsborough, Constable, Stubbs and many more. My absolute favourite is Constable's "Flatford Mill". There is also a free modern art exhibition which didn't capture my interest as much.

The great collection from 1540 to 1930.

The great collection from 1540 to 1930.
You can visit all or some of the galleries on this route, as long as you follow the one-way system designed to keep all visitors safe. There will also be access to toilets, a shop and an opportunity to buy food and drink.

We paid our visit to view the largest collection of Van Gogh under one roof. Although a time was allotted to us, it was very packed and you really have to be determined to get to the front, abd there are a large number of paintings to admire, with comprehensive information. Well worth a visit.
