Great guided tour but impossible to hear her when school parties were in next gallery. Maybe children shouldn't be visiting at the same times as general public??
Work close by and come here at lunch to sit and look at the art. It's a fantastic place and free
Don McCullin photos. An amazing body of work; sobering, thought provoking and a priceless legacy
Took the boat from Tate Modern to Tate Britain and took a wander through the art of Britain a fascinating excursion
This museum has some of the most famous british pantings, great place to visit
Excellent location, amazing interior and great collection on pieces
Visiting was a good experience, interesting mix of work on show, this time greeting the public outside, on the entrance steps, in the form of giant slugs.
Beautiful, well laid out and signposted exhibits, we specifically went to see the Burne-Jones which was magnificent. Highly recommended.
Lovely Steve McQueen exhibition. Enjoyed every minute I spent inside
My first visit. Blown away! Can't believe that I haven't been before. Great art in a beautiful building right next to The Thames and Westminster.
Excellent organization with more services, friendly and helpful staff, no guides or audio guides in Italian.
Exquisite artwork with useful information about each one - very informative and intriguing
Great gallery... and it's free! Donations recommended
Great art gallery although very noisy because of the amount of school children. Cafe is quite expensive but food was. Good
Always good.we are so lucky to have such an amazing gallery, with such amazing art-for free!!!!
Free exhibitions definitely worth seeing. Nice location and great choice of places to eat from normal cafe to fancy restaurant.
Overcrowded, staff bored and indifferent and overpriced..?
This is a must go as it has the Burne Jones exhibition till 24th Feb. All his best work on display and the canvasses are huge something u don't get from a photo in a book. 2 sets of group pictures worth mentioning are the 7 set Perseus legend with one canvas done in silver n gold which is totally unique; and other is the 4 set sleeping beauty fairy tale. The final room is exceptional as has these 15ft high tapestries with so much detail u could spend an hour looking at them alone. Conveniently located for bus n tube.
Don McCuillin exhibition which finished on the 7th May was very good, fantastic photos black and white plus coloured.
Great British artists and great modern and contemporary works can be seen with free entry.
Love this gallery. Went to see The Impressionists in London and Stanley Spencer, Bacon and a few others. You can evwn get aboat to Tate Modern!
Went to see the Paul Nash show and was blown away by the comprehensiveness of the exhibtion. I've also seen Phyllida Barlow here and the exhibitions are thoughtfully-curated, well-documented and most enjoyable.
The gallery in general has some magnificent works and their focus on British art and artists is refreshing.
Well curated. Beautiful old building located near the Thames and a short walk from Westminster.
Lovely restaurant downstairs . With the amount of good exhibitions which they put on it is definitely worth looking into getting the tape membership card as you can use this at any of the tape is games throughout the year and it also allows you access to the tape members room which at this specific Tate is very beautiful and relaxing, nice to have a bit of an escape from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the museum.
Best art gallery in the U.K. beats the Chicago art institute by a long shot!
Well positioned art work and never a long line at any viewing.
Quite a wonderful place to relax; and take in some culture.
Just been to see the Don McCullin exhibition. Fantastic, thought provoking images...many I remember from the actual period they were taken. Iconic.
However...45 minute queue, even as Tate Members, wasn't great...although good to see people visiting these exhibitions.
One request...if you go to an exhibition people, especially one with images as harrowing as some of these were LEAVE YOUR MOBILE PHONE ON SILENT AND IN YOUR POCKET. Look at the photographs, don't take photographs or the photographs.
Sorry....rant over.
Excellent gallery.. I saw the impressionists in London exhibition...it was very interesting. The room that made it was the first showing the artists' reaction to the bombardment, defeat and then executions of the Paris Commune 1871... Many left going to London...
My favourite place for reflexion in London. Never too busy. Calm atmosphere and location.
Great museum with beautiful art, happy to spend a whole day here.
gr8 revamped art museum with amasing collection and interesting shows
Fabulous place. I was fascinated by all those modern arts exhibited there. I really liked Jesse Darlings work.
If you love Pre Rafaelites, as one should, this is the museum for you.
A wonderful place to be. I really enjoyed the paintings by Turner. It was not crowded and the building was so amazing. I would sure visit it again in my next trip to London for sure.
Less glitzy than its sibling south of the river, but usually fantastic exhibitions. Recent one on French impressionist artists in London was superb.
I went to GW in 2019. I was looking for Mire's Ophelia, but it was a very popular work ... I was on loan (in some cases I can not see it as well as other popular art works).
It is not a substitute, but we are holding a Van Gogh exhibition. I could watch a number of masterpieces up close and have had a very luxurious and satisfying time.
The permanent exhibition is free, but the special exhibition is charged. In addition, since Gogh is so popular that tickets bought at around 11:30 can be bought from 14:00. It was set by the time section, so once I went back to sightseeing after doing other sightseeing and shopping. Shops are also vacant in the morning.
The nearest subway station is Pimlico on the Victoria line. Closer is the bus stop behind the museum.
The buildings and facilities are really wonderful museums.
Free entry but I'd recommend making a donation. Large collection of British artwork with permanent and temporary exhibitions.
Lovely place great prices of sculpture and artwork well worth a visit
Went for the Burne Jones special exhibition. It was a wonderful sight to behold. The reason I've only given 4 stars is because the descriptive text to each painting was ridiculously small and hard to read with the large numbers crowding around!!
A free gallery with lots of paintings and sculptures to see.
Awesome museum totally free. The culture available to everyone.
There is lots of great merchandise here at the moment relating to the Roy Lichtenstein exhibition. Its a bit expensive but very cool stuff.
#Tube-tastic
With peak to consider, getting there after 1 pm was a bad idea, soo much to see.
There are always a few gems but not everyone knows what to look for... I was lucky to have an expert with me at the Impressionist and the Human (body? ) exhibitions. Food in the cafe is good tho and the shop is one of the gems!
One of my personal favorites in London. Easy to get around, and a stunning collection.
We spent as much time in the shop and cafe as we did perusing the art - wonderful collection of gift items in the shop, and the cafe had a good selection at reasonable prices for a museum shop.
The shop staff were very friendly - one heard me mention a piece as my Mom's favorite by that artist, and brought over other items in the same print that I might want.
Wonderful mixture of 'established' and recently avant garde artists make this a must to visit - and to keep returning to. The superb Turner and Henry Moore sections by themselves draw me back each time I'm in London. Both artists are reminders that current definitions of 'mainstream' belie the fact these two both pushed the boundaries of artistic expression - and public and curatorial acceptance - for much of their careers. How exciting, then, to see the development of their respective styles displayed under one roof.
Interesting exhibition about Pre-Raphaelite artist Burke-Jones - a must!
One for the most beautiful museum in London. From the origin of English painting to the most recent works.
Great experience, the exhibitions are always amazing ,the food less good than V&A.
Well it is Tate Britain and some nice painting things
Big museum filled with British art. The highlight for me is that they have a beautiful display of Turner paintings, as it is very rare to see so many painting by one author together. I highly enjoyed their Van Gogh exhibition last year too. Would highly recommend going early when it opens as it is a bit more quiet and you can explore the rooms at ease. Also, taking the boat from Tate Modern to Tate Britain is extremely nice on a summer day.
A little disappointed with my visit, and it took longer to get to than expected but still worth a visit and its free to enter. Good restaurant and toilets plus child portions.
Tate Britain is a magnificent building with helpful staff and wonderful, outstanding and inspirational works of art! Got to go back....
Super art to see in easy viewing spaces in an amazing building
Great venue, really friendly staff and Van Gogh was a superb exhibition.
Great organized exhibition of old paintings with a bit of industrial art items.
Really great Gallery. Shop could be better though and the food offerings, although ample could be less pricey, particularly for the waiter service restaurant.
No hesitation in giving this art venue 5 stars for it's free exhibition of classic paintings from artists like Gainsborough, Constable, Stubbs and many more. My absolute favourite is Constable's "Flatford Mill". There is also a free modern art exhibition which didn't capture my interest as much.
My favourite gallery. I would have given it 5 stars but I was underwhelmed by the Hockney exhibition.
Still my favourite gallery and favourite place in London.
The LGBT event they host once a year is amazing! I can't wait to go back!
A little outside the center and therefore much quieter than the busy museums in the center. The Turner exhibition in particular is very impressive.
Really enjoyed "All too human" -well curated and some top notch artists
The great collection from 1540 to 1930.
You can visit all or some of the galleries on this route, as long as you follow the one-way system designed to keep all visitors safe. There will also be access to toilets, a shop and an opportunity to buy food and drink.
Magnificent museum with great collections, also has lots of places to rest and reflect or charge a phone (important!) and completely free, our favourite place!
We paid our visit to view the largest collection of Van Gogh under one roof. Although a time was allotted to us, it was very packed and you really have to be determined to get to the front, abd there are a large number of paintings to admire, with comprehensive information. Well worth a visit.
A stunning collection laid out in a logical and interesting way
