I just want to say a big thank you to Dr Buza and his staff for the wonderful and personal service we received today while my son had his operation. The procedure itself was a success and the aftercare staff on the children's ward were amazing right from the play leader to our care nurse. You all do a fantastic job. Keep up the good work

visited tameside hospital early hours of this morning.

currently got 2 separate infections in both my eyes. and now im sat wearing sunglasses because I can now not tolerate bright lights. vision going on and off. my eyes are on fire. the skin ariund my eyes are raw and sore. my eye lids are in agony. and blinking hurts.

i was told by my optician my eyes get any worse go to Manchester royal eye hospital emergency ward. rang the hospital and was told it shut at 8pm via automated talker.

so i called 111 to see where or what should I do. As it was 2am. i told 111 my symptoms and abiut my 2 infections in my eyes and they knew the emergency part of the royal eye hospital was closed till 8.30am. and they knew i couldnt go there. 111 told me I needed to be seen within the hour and go streight to tameside hospital. and they would see me.

I arrived at tameside about 3am. checked in and sat down in a&e waiting to be seen.

got called in by the treige nurse. told her what was wrong. told her what 111 said and her response was.

" what do you want me to do about it "
And " I don't understand why you've come here. and not gone to Manchester royal eye hospital "

because it's not open? Because 111 told me so? Because I'm in agony. my eyes have gotten worse. and I've called a medical professional for advice and was told to come here and I'd be seen.

And then sat there to make me out As if I was lying. I even had to tell her to check my records as to what I've said is true.

then she said I'd be waiting up to 4-5 hours to be seen by the next person l who is be sent to. because there was 15 people before me. But she also said it would be pointless as they don't have the staff I need to see working at that hospital.

and finally. I got told to go and buy some baby wipes to wipe my eyes and I should be ok.

was in and out the building in tears within 10 minutes.

this is my 2nd visit to this hospital and will be my last.

As my first visit last September is when I was rushed in for suspected miscarages at 9 week. 6 days. due to very heavy bleeding and feeling sick. to be told by a Dr 3 hours after I arrived I was lying about being pregnant and I just got my period with vengeance. even tho I had my pregnancy confirmed 4 week previous with countless tests & by my Dr with a urine sample and a blood test. went to my doctor the following day when they re opened. where blood tests were done and told that my hcg level had dropped dramatically low and i did loose my baby.

wouldn't wish anybody to be treated by this hospital

Tameside Hispital A & E is one of the worst places on Gods earth to find yourself. If an ambulance takes you here do yourself a big favour and book a cab to Stepping Hill , Salford or Manchester. Total disorganised uncaring staff. Particularly uncaring towards the elderly and vunerable. Never met so many people with the attitude "its not my job". Disgusting.

35 Croft Street,
HYDE.
Cheshire.
SK14 1JA.

Our local hospital Tameside General in Ashton-u-Lyne as recently had a great deal of bad press, I would like to set the record straight, when there is an emergency they are wonderful I can say this out of experience.
My husband Bernard has just been discharged after a major operation to remove a septic Gall Bladder after the operation we were told that it was touch and go as to whether he would pull through. He was put in a coma for twenty four hours in the High Dependency Unit. The staffs there were wonderful both in the caring compassionate and dignified way they treated him and us his family in general, I cannot thank them enough. myself and my family would like especially to thank Sr. Grace Gregory,Sn Pat Huckle, Sn Steph Smith,Sn Steph Winterbottom,Sr Louise Williams and Sn Gail Ballington also Mr Dhebri and his surgical team and not forgetting the staff on the surgical ward. They are all wonderful people who deserve the best that life can offer, God bless them all, and thank you so very much for saving my husband. My family and I are truly truly grateful.
yours Gratefully

Too much to list about how shambolic this, department actually is. The funny thing about this slaughterhouse are the posters that informing you of their dignity in care, then they leave you on a trolley in a corridor. This is the most dignified way to treat a person with major anxiety problems while in excruciating pain as i'm vomiting profusely in front of strangers wandering around the A+E department. Then on one occasion myself and my Wife witnessed a gentleman with mental health issues get up and leave the dpartment after being spoken to like absolute garbage, when a junior nurse informed the head of triage that that patient was at high risk of suicide the reply gobsmacked me and my wife, the head nurse just flippantly said "ah leave him". We left the department soon afterwards. It's a real pity that when i'm needing an ambulance for my condition they have to take me to this dreadful place. There is no funding problem with this A+E department, just an attitude problem from half the nurses and doctors.

Would not recommend this hosptial. I had been very sick for months and not sure what the problem was. I went to my doctors Because i was having a stong pain starting from lower back on the left side. This pain would travel up one side, into my left breast, under my arm and down my arm. The pain would ometimes last up to 5 minutes. My doctor sent me for a exray to this hosiptal. They informed me that I would get my results within a few days. I then returned back to the hospital for a mammogram 2 week later. I had to ask for my results of the exray. On the day of having my mammogram, the doctor was more interested in telling me how long he had been a breast surgeon for. Its appears that doctors do not check your history. After returning to the breast clinic straight after my mammogram, i was told to get a 30 minute break because their were patients waiting to be seen. It turned out to be 1.5 hours waiting for results. Finally, upon seeing the same doctor, i felt this lack of care when in fact he had challenged me regarding a clip in my breast. I was shocked by this response and as result, i spoke my mind. He imformed me that the consultant who looked at my mammogram was in a bad mood and the results are not clear. The same doctor was trying to pass the book to my own GP rather than understanding my problem. I insisted that its not normal to have the pain and my breast going hot red and tingling.
The doctor had informed me that i did not look very well and questioned as to why I had not had a ECG
He tried putting the blame on my own doctor. He told me that my to go back to my GP and ask him to refer me for a full body scan.
The service was not of a PC Approach and so lacking in empathy. I felt like I was a number.
have spoken to my doctor and informed him of everything. My doctor informed me that it's the hostipal that has to do the referral for a scan. My doctor asked one of the receptionist to call thw hostipal to find out what is happening to be told the the receptionist is on holiday and she would not return back to till 27th December. There was no other person to advice on my situation. Very very bad.

My doctor has still not recieved any results and they have now sent a letter to the hospital with my complaint. I am still getting these pains and in fact they are now traveling throughout my body. Still waiting. This hostiptal is very very bad and i would like to know
What are they spending thier money on?
How many staff does this hosptial have?
In the breasr clinic, there was 1 doctor for all. So bad
will keep this review updated when I get some kind of response from this hosptial

Its now 10th Jan and no chamge. I have come into this review to edit tonight due to the lack of suport from this hosptial . After complaining to pals and no joy and i will take this matter further to the health care ombudsmen department.Today at home and had the worst pain ever in my chest arms and back. I remember feeling sick dizzy and kegs feeling heavy. I remember passing out and alot then came a blur. Before I knew it the ambulance service was at my home. I out of it and then came a huge headache
I waited 4 hrs to be seen upon arriving in triage, i felt sleeping and dehydrated. I informed the staff about this and asked for water. This was not privided by the staff. It took partner to go and get drinking water from the tap. All machines were out of order.

Whilst waiting there was another patient next to me and curtians were drawn. As soon as this patient was moved, i was subjected to hearing 2 staff members making fun of him. How unfrofessiional is this.
My anxiety levels got higher and this made me feel very angry. I was moved to the corridors and waited for hours to been seen with a very bad head and pain in my back. I had made it clear to staff that i did not trust this hostipal and that I had already made a compliant before Upon being moved to be seen by another pesron, it got worse. 2 nurses and i assume was a male doctor ts seems to me that they were aware of my complaint and 1 nusre was very rude. Interrupting me.

I visited A&E last sunday evening, the receptionist was ringing the minor injury unit as she was booking me in, so within 15 minutes I had had an xray and pain relief, before being taken to cubicles. Unfortunately then I waited along time, before any mention of stronger pain relief being offered. It was probably about 3 hours before I got morphine which coincided with the anaesthetic I was given, they had to put my dislocated shoulder back into place. Despite the wait the staff were very professional and explained everything to me, they were understaffed, but still kept smiling, despite constant pressure to be in 2 places at the same time. I have only good to say, Ryan was the doctor was great as were the nursing staff

I was picked Sunday morning by a fab team of paramedics at home, I was in great pain, but I was looked after so we'll.
Hitting A&E I had nothing but first class treatment , was told what was happening all the time.
I was then moved to Women's Health Unit...
Every one on that unit work so hard...
I was taken a back how nothing was to much trouble , even when you knew they were busy.......
They are a great team and I don't think we thank enough...
Just like to say a big Thank You

I visited the hospital yesterday (Wednesday 19th Feb') for a chest x-ray. I was surprised how relatively quiet it was in the waiting room/area. I was told that I would have to wait about half an hour. I hadn't been sat down 10 minutes, then I had my name called. Absolutely brilliant! The Consultant Radiologist was also brilliant. I enjoyed my little trip there. Out of a score of 10 out of 10, then I would definitely give the hospital 10.

is there a word worse than disgraceful?

is there a word worse than disgraceful?
if so even worse than that!!!
wife had unplanned Tonsillectomy as a day surgery.
plan was to investigate, if issues found, they will operate.
once they did the surgery, very minimal information given. hardly any after treatment care given. told buy your own paracetamol from over counter.
within days, infected and severe bleeding.
when i say severe bleeding, it was like a scene from a movie.
ambulance took her in back to tameside, they started to give treatment but the nurses there was very arrogant and extremely rude.
however they decided to transfer her to Manchester Royal infirmary.
boy was we glad! they was straightaway on to it. knew exactly what to do. the entire team from nurse assistant to doctor was so professional.
they kept her in for 3 days and gave her all the right treatment while there and gave medicine to take home.

all i can say Tameside general hospital needs to learn a lot.
they are really bad.
i only managed to realise after experiencing Manchester Royal infirmary, that Tameside are extremely BAD.

I have had some very professional experiences within the outpatient departments however the A&E department needs a massive improvement. Firstly A&E reception staff need to be a little less condescending. People come to A&E in pain and desperation, they really needen't to be made feel like a burden or worthless. When you are waiting in A&E for 6 hours, you can really see how different people are treated differently by the reception staff.

On 28th July 2018 my son was in resuss machines keeping him alive tho the staff worked hard and as his mum I wanted 2nd 3rd 4th opinions as I dident want to here he was brain dead and dieing... We got put in a family room that had no drink supplies very small and dirty and had a Dr I could barley understand tho I'm grateful them and paramedics gave me the time to be able to hold my son in my arms as he passed away but after his death I felt very rushed... I'd ask the family room is made a little more comfy for grieving family's... But may I add the morgue and staff are amazing it's lovely how they let me visit everyday stroked his hair as I would and offered drinks compation and kindness the lady we had was amazing and got me through my darkest hours even leaving me past visiting times as I'd fell asleep on my sons chest knowing I'd not sleeped since he passed away she just left me with him for a while then woke me gently after a hour with a cup of tea couldent praise her enough

Thought it may have improved. It has NOT,My wife had a heart attack in 2013,they missed blood tests, delaying the scan, sent her home before the bypass with the wrong tablets, delaying the bypass op.Then later in the year, when she had wound complications she went back through A&E spent 6-8 hours in in there in agony not once did they check the chest wound. When she got into a ward the chest wound opened up a new hole through infection. And now had to take her To A&E on boxing day, with chest pains(pneumonia),no problem they were ok.But on ward AMU ok at first but problem started on second night over water.Instead of sorting the problem they shifted her to another ward.Waiting to see a doctor since 4am,she has chest pains again, told her doctor came through night but she was a asleep so didn't disturb her,ok.but still trying to get a doctor now3 1/2 hours later.

I had suspected DVT and was referred for an emergency scan. I arrived at the ambulatory unit and was seen immediately and sent directly to the vascular unit. Once I arrived there I was greeted by the most lovely people who, even though it was the end of a long day, couldn t have been more pleasant and friendly. From arrival at the hospital to back in the car was less than an hour. Such an efficient service and great staff. Thank you to all.

So my partner is being discharged from your Stamfo...

So my partner is being discharged from your Stamford unit today, she has actually discharged herself, because after 2 and half weeks she's not had nearly enough physio than she should have, they even admitted that people complain they don't get enough physio, last week I got barred from visiting my partner in the unit and I have been visiting her in reception, the reason why is because a man & woman from physio came to have a talk with me, the woman was lying about things to my face, tried to manipulate my partner in to saying they've been and said this that and the other to her when they hadn't, and she wouldn't listen to me she just kept being all defensive so I ended up getting angry and was asked to leave, I should have held my nerve more but after over 6 years of tameside hospital messing her about, wrong diagnosis etc etc etc, she's been treated disgustingly, it just came to a head, i apologise for my behaviour I am ashamed of myself, now the man is lying, said she did more than she did on Monday, and also they asked for measurements of the height of where she sits at home, the height of the bed and the height of the toilet, he's now turned round and said she's ready to go home which she isn't but there is no point at all her being there, he said she doesn't need anything aides at home because the measurements are the same as the bed, chair and toilet on the unit, now 1: the bed is lower, the bed on the unit can move up and down, so it is higher than the one ate home, the toilet at home is a standard toilet the same as the unit but on the unit there is a heightened seat with handles to help get up and lower down on to it, so she needs one of them also, the settee a where she sits at home is much lower than the chair she sits on at the unit, 2: everything at the unit has handles so she can use them to help her get up or lower herself down, the settee, bed and toilet don't have them, I'm sick of the lies and she has just wasted over 2 weeks getting hardly any physio, they turn up when they want, she has to ask if they are coming because I was supposed to visit her but they said they might come later or might not, so I cant go and visit her in case they turn up, I've not visited her on a few occasions because physio have said they are going and a doctor to see her also, and each time none of them have turned up, so she's getting upset because she hasn't seen me and me too, it's a shambles that place, you can definitely tell it's part of tameside hospital, all the characteristics are there, she is type 1 diabetic, her eyes are really bad and she has cataracts on each eye, the first night she was there a nurse gave her a fortisip which contains 27 grams of sugar in! In the morning her blood sugar was sky high and they were fighting to get it down, she almost went to A & E! The physios never turned up but they said they did and told my partner they didnt do physio because of her high blood sugars, she was trying to manipulate my partner in saying they did tell her that when she didnt! Lies lies and more lies, I've been to pals, told the sister and nothing has been done about anything, people who work at that hospital no matter what capacity, pals included, all pee in the same pot, therefore nothing ever gets done, i reported all this and more to pals, who said they spoke to somebody, which I know is the pharmacist, who said she will raise concerns to the sister, I asked the sister about it and she knew nothing about it, so either that pharmacist never told the sister, or she did and the sister lied, either way that's disgusting, a while back a porter even tipped her out of her wheelchair, nothing got done about that! There are absolutely loads of things we have written down, times, dates etc on things your hospital has done to my partner, disgusting behaviour from a place that is supposed to care for there patients, they don't care one bit, and dont give me all that rubbish that the NHS is struggling with having not enough staff, when she stays in Manchester royal there are plenty of nurses & they're all great!

My mother-in-law was transferred from Shire hill hospital for a colonoscopy. After 24 hours she had gone so far downhill she was back where she started before going to Shirehill. They are not treating her just waiting and talking to each other but telling the family nothing unless they get a direct question. They promise to call back but never do. This hospital seems to have learnt nothing since it was put into special measures. A total shambles.

The worse hospital that I have been in my life.!! Been waiting for 6 hours to be seen and still nothing, rude stuff that keep mentioning that is going to be longer and longer.
There is no organisation at all! Not even water for people, card machines for a warm brew are not working and there is not facilities to even pay by card on the parking.
Imagine that a guy was here that was bleeding so bad in his leg and he was waiting for 5 hours to bee seen.

We always visit the A & E here. Originally because there was a shorter wait than Manchester. This has now increased. It's a wonderful modern hospital, very clean and lovely decor. This is matched by the staff, throughout all the various roles who are so attentive and clearly take their jobs seriously. I like to think this is in large part due to the training, and general ethos of this fine example of a Foundation Trust Hospital. I was rather anxious about going under general anaesthetic to have an abcess removed. My fears were allayed as I was encouraged by the thoroughness of staff to ask every necessary question to avoid mistakes. The tea and toast which was such a welcoming feature of my Ward in Endescopy and Day Service, was in no way unique as my every request was met, as I had to stay overnight waiting for a slot in the theatre list to get my operation, I'd brought no toiletries and on request was given a razor for shaving, toothpaste and brush, soap, hair brush and towel. I was impressed with this. The long wait for a bed from early afternoon till the following morning, after originally being told to ring 8am for a bed the first morning hadn't gone down well with me, and I was at that point feeling increasingly frustrated, but I'd been encouraged by the chat with the ward sister, where I was allowed to vent frustration about my experience, and feel my views would be fed back and help to resolve the issues I'd expressed. The two ladies in "pre-op," who administered the anaesthetic were wonderfully cheerful and such a great comfort, that my anxieties were soon put to rest and the operation was seamless and happened in the most agreeable way. Great that I can continue my rapport with this fine "friendly" hospital.

On one day each month we check to see how many of our patients suffered certain types of harm whilst in our care. We call this the Safety Thermometer. The Safety Thermometer looks at four harms: pressure ulcers, falls, blood clots and urine infections for those patients who have a urinary catheter in place. This helps us to understand where we need to make improvements.

I was rushed into this hospital with severe chest pains on Monday 23/12/19 the ambulance crews were very good, they took me to tameside hospital to A&E who also were very good, I was then transferred to the cardiac dept where I was looked after by Helen and Dr Ash these two people worked so hard to help me recover I cannot thank them enough, they wouldn't give up, when they finally stabilized me I was moved to the AMU unit .This is an experience in itself, the people who work in this dept, well, we don't pay them enough, the names I can remember, Linda Wendy Sue and Kelly, the latter is a early 20s young lady who was on a one to one with a Alzheimer's patient , this man was obscene, violent a complete nasty peace of work{ and yes I know he cant help it} but to watch a young lady like Kelly suffer the abuse that was directed on her was shameful, but she took it in her stride and dealt with it very professionally, she is a credit to her training, as of course are all the others who were constantly on the go, being urinated on, cleaning up vomit and excrement , to the staff of that unit, you are very special and I thank you so much. I wish you all a very Happy New Year

Where do I start! What a disgrace! The triage ward...

Where do I start! What a disgrace! The triage ward on maternity has probably been the worse experience I have ever encountered. It seems women are left as long as possible in triage before they are sent down to the labour ward to the point they are almost delivering their babies there. I was told by a midwife this was due to a lack of midwives on the labour ward and was the reason why I hadn't been taken down after a long and very drawn out attempt at being induced that went on for almost 4 days even though I was told by two doctors I would be. In this time I had not slept properly due to other women on my ward screaming in pain leaving me very tired and emotional. One night I was even told to leave the ward and sit in the waiting room whilst they dealt with the lady next to me who was about to give birth, this was 12.30am!
Midwives and doctors are very conflicting and there was a real lack of communication between them. There is also a lack of empathy from some of the midwives. This was my first baby and for me the experience was far from a good one due to the triage ward and how I was treated.
The team of surgeons however, were a completely different story and were an amazing team and made me feel at ease during my c-section.
The only reason I gave this review a star is because it would not let me continue without one.

The A & E Staff were excellent. Arrived and was seen by triage Nurse within 20 minutes, taken straight to Minors, X-Rayed , assessed, diagnosed with severe soft tissue damage, no fracture, prescribed strong pain relief and discharged to care of G P within 4 hours.
I would not say it was a pleasure, but the speed and thoroughness of the Staff was breathtaking and very, very good.
Such a shame that these really good Departments get no overt praise, yet one or two poor Departments tarnish the rest of the N H S, and all the good staff get tarred with the same brush.
Thank you Tameside and Glossop N H S Trust

Found out today that the walk in centre that used to be at Ashton Primary Care has now moved to tameside hospital. Went up and there was no hospital parking so had to park a 15 minute walk away. On arriving there it was packed, was over a 2 hour wait at 11am on a Thursday! None of the doctors seemed to be in a rush and were stood chatting. Everyone was getting frustrated and the heat in there wasn't helping the situation. If they can't accommodate this service at the hospital then they shouldn't have moved it! They need to look at waiting times, speed up the doctors pace and re look at parking or take the restrictions away from local roads.

My husband was recently taken ill and rushed to TGH. The Ambulance staff were amazing and got him into Resus straight away. The staff there were really good and made sure he had all the treatment and attention he needed. He was transferred to MAAU within 2-3 hours and given a bed straight away. The staff on MAU were exemplary, The food was excellent, an all around satisfying experience from a very hard working, understaffed and dedicated team. Thankyou to all concerned at Tameside Hospital.

My girlfriend was told to get to hospital because she was in serious pain and bleeding for 2 weeks, we were here for 3 hours and went in and was told there was no problem and told to go home and don't worry, she has a Massive growth in her abdomen, it's pathetic because they were busy, the doctor
Was a waste of time,
The worst hospital I've ever had to go to,
I won't be coming back and I suggest that you go to another hospital for any treatment.

I have very mixed feelings about this hospital I do not rate the maternity ward at all that was an awful experience, when my nana discovered she had terminal cancer they were beyond useless, the doctors in the childrens outpatients are useless also. However the staff in nuclear medicine are excellent 5* to them! As well as the children's unit and xray department all excellent. They just have alot of areas to improve on. There are shops and a costa coffee on site too

Nothing but praise for this hospital.. Apart from maybe the security staff in one building... Broke my ankle during lockdown and have had to attend many times... Wow efficient friendly... Big mention to the orthopedic secretary's especially Debbie who sorted out my fit to fly note... Nothing seemed to much trouble... Thanks so much tameside... But maybe security need a little bit of customer service training... If you are a patient with anxiety already visiting a place that brings that out anyways.. It's probably not best to talk to them aggressively

Treat people bad. The clerks aren t very attentive, always typing on the computer and ignoring patient who are in front of them. You are all professionals, act like it. They gossip about patients. One of the nurses actually left the clinic room just to go and gossip about a patient who needed help with a son. Very disappointed. These are the same people we are supposed to be trusting to help us do better but I am more anxious than ever to come A&E. I understand it s a busy environment but there s no need to be rude to your patients and make them feel like it s their fault, they are not well.

Earlier today I attended Tameside Hospital for an endoscopy, after four months of abdominal discomfort. I was greeted with a huge smile at the reception desk, and the nurses and doctors with whom I came into contact were all, without exception, warm, friendly, professional and a real joy. After my procedure a lovely lady made toast and coffee for me. I couldn't have wished for a better experience, or a better team.

Badly cut left index finger and thumb, attended by Practicianer Nurse Joanne in A & E. Superb attention from all staff within 2 hours. The general NHS crisis is being handled by fantastic, dedicated, friendly and totally professional staff. The government need to pay them more, get more staff and sort the government problems and issues out before trying to tell others how to manage.
