I spent the night in A&e/MAU after an asthma attack far from home!
The paramedics, resus team and ward staff were absolutely phenomenoninal and made a rubbish experience that little bit better. Felt like I was truly cared for and they never rushed my friend to leave when we arrived at the ward.
I was informed from start to finish and sent on my way with a lovely little freshen up kit for the long journey!! Thank you all so much for your care, you were wonderful.

Literally disgraced!

Literally disgraced!
A couple of nights ago my friend was brought in suffering with agonising pain. On arrival nobody took any obs, no blood test, no water just a paracetomol. 5hrs wait wasn't allowed to sit with her despite other patients having someone with them.
The head nurse was EXTREMELY rude. Said "you're only getting through these doors if you are delusional, a child or vunerable" then went into my friend and said "your friend is very calm out there, why can't you be". Then to my utter disbelief, the staff were standing outside her cubicle gossiping about her! Head nurse saying "oh that one in there is just after attention, she is just melodramatic just wants drugs she does" my friend obviously heard every word and reminded them she could, and they stopped.
She was told they could not do anything for her and that they were going to discharge her. Tried to get her to sign a self discharge form, which she rightly refused to do.

Tameside hospital is by far the absolute worst hospital to find yourself in. The staff do not give a stuff at all, the amount of people I know, including myself, who have been in and received shocking treatment is mind boggling. There were articles in the news even 12, 13, 14 years ago of neglect cases and people being treated like dirt by the staff, I really am baffled as to how this hospital has been allowed to continue to run, and after reading the reviews of people's bad experiences here it doesn't sound like it has got any better.

If you can get to another hospital, like MRI, Stepping Hill, Wythenshawe, Salford go there. Avoid this hell hole at all costs!!!

Very efficient ! from arriving In A&E at 4AM Saturday, I was in a bed within 15 mins and on the ward within a few hours. Throughout my short stay I found the staff to be friendly and professional and they all work hard to make my short stay as comfortable as possible. I am very grateful, thanks to all the staff.

One of the worst hospital I have ever seen in UK, Germany, USA and Canada..NO star at all, had to give it otherwise I can post my review.
My wife has CKD problem, the kidney function has been going down but since 2+ years they were doing only some tests...NO medication and NO nutrition help.....the result is that she is near to the Dialysis....
Also in She had to go couple of times in Emergency with ambulance, they put her in a cubical took the BP, Urine sample, but 3 hours passed NO doc came....the rude nurses did talk friendly, not giving proper info. I have seen them sitting and gossip. Finally we left the hospital without treatment.

The care I received from Dr Buza and his team at ENT clinic was 1st class.
My ear op has really improved the quality of my life. Before my op when Dr Buza was explaining the risks, he didn't play lip service to this, he told me a story which really help me understand.
I loved this approach, he had such a lovely character it was easy to discuss any concerns or questions. Maybe he could offer some workshops on bedside manor to those consultants who struggle with this aspect of the role. Thank you so much Dr Buza.

Classic case of NEGLIGENCE. Staff would rather sit around and have a laugh and be rude when asked a question. If you value your family members life and want them to come out alive, go to another hospital. Worst in the country.

One of the worst hospital in England. Doctors doesn't care about patients. Still waiting for follow up appointment nurse mentioned that they will send follow up appointment within six week. Over 10 weeks GP doctor can't do anything about it either. Need to sort this out soon. Please try and help people rather then wasting time.

The worst hospital in the north. Avoid like the plague. Bad administration and management for about the last 30 years. No wonder everyone in my family has had a frustrating experience. Their mortality rate is higher than other hospitals. Avoid.

Absolutely appalling. I have a huge respect for nhs staff but what a disaster this is! The whole idea for walk in is for minor illness and ailments that need treatment leaving a&e for more serious cases and broken bones I would have thought but no ONE DOCTOR ONLY for both on a bh weekend. The waiting time worse than attending a&e and the amount of staff walking around getting themselves brews is unbelievable. Only second time here - was so different with oldham walk in (in and out or sent to a&e)!!!! To make matters worse continuing to let people through - erm social distancing measures tameside?

Appalled by this hospital, my cousin was brought to this hospital with a suspected stroke..the hospital did not bother to check if he had had a stroke even though his neighbour insisted the hospital check for a stroke! I asked staff whilst visiting I thought he may have had a stroke I was informed by the sister that there was nothing wrong with Barry he just needed to pull himself together! After making a complaint to PALS the hospital checked to see if Barry had had a stroke, he had! Previously the Dr had told the nurses to get him on his feet and they could discharge him, Barry has not been on his feet for over 2 years due to needing a hip replacement. So now the staff have worked out he's had a stroke he could not cope in the flat he was living he was unable to go to bed because he could not get his walker or wheelchair in bedroom nor the bathroom so he was constantly falling on the floor he looked like he had been beat up! Barry as no family living close by, the hospital said he would have to go in to support housing as he could not manage before the stroke his mother was assured a care plan would be put in place (his mother is getting on 80 and lives 300 miles away) We have now been told the hospital intend sending him back to the unsuitable flat that nearly killed him! Staff know full well putting him back now he is more disabled is a death sentence!! Welcome to Tory nazi regime where staff and social workers deny illness so they are not obligated to provide care, I firmly believe the staff knew he had had a stroke but just wanted to get rid of him, how can staff have him for a week and miss that he's had a stroke especially when they was continually told to check to see if he had had a stroke!!

my wife had a stroke at beginning of may 2016 & was rushed into tameside. she was transferred to stepping hill hospital & after 2 days of treatment by stepping hill she was referred back to tameside. since then she has had no consultation or follow up tests. appointments repeatedly cancelled!! not surprised as i got the same outcome when i took ill the previous september. dont tell me they have improved,as soon as you are out the door they dont want anything to do with you(not cost effective?).

My son was transferred here due to a lack of beds in our area. The Staff, cleaners to Nurses to Surgeons were all fantastic! Kind, considerate, caring helpful beyond what I expected,. All in all, for what it was, a wonderful experience if we had to spend time in a hospital!

This Hospital doesn't get enough good press! Its very easy to point out the flaws in something. Its human nature to focus on what people DONT do rather than what people do!

After saving my girlfriends life from a peanut allergy which was dealt with in minutes this hospital and its staff are fantastic!

My mother works here and has done so for 28 Years! She works with great staff who provide a great atmosphere, however the NHS wages sadly don't reflect.

So next time your quick to slander think of the effort these people go to!

Have always had very good and attentive care here ...

Have always had very good and attentive care here on the odd occasion I've required it. My only gripe would be that they once released me too early following a haemorrhoidectomy in order to empty a ward for the weekend - it was Friday afternoon - leaving me with a 2-3 mile walk home. Absolute torture. In fairness, even this wasn't their fault, really - government cuts have put extraordinary stress on the NHS and bed space is at a premium. Still, it's the only reason I've not given a five star review. 4.5*

I recently visited a friend on ward 45.

I recently visited a friend on ward 45.

When I arrived the lady in the next bed was being fed by an auxiliary nurse. To my horror she was on her phone texting at the same time as trying to help this lady. I looked at the auxiliary, but she just carried on with her messaging.

I discussed this with the nurse in charge, but he didn't seem too concerned.

I have been a nurse for many years, and perhaps my standards are high, but surely this is totally inappropriate behaviour ?

I remember Tameside General Hospital now with nostalgia. I had a wonderful work and training experience there as a registrar in psychiatry on greater Manchester registrar rotation between august 1993 and February 1994. Supervised by Dr Tait (consultant psychiatrist). Diligent physician he was! Love to contact him again.

Excellent. Gyro unit under Consultant Mahmood a kind and considerate man. I would recommend him even although I usually prefer a lady. Didn t rush my appointment explained everything about my immune illness
He gave ma best advice and explained there is no cure but not life threatening .my only complaint wasI waited nearly an hour to be seen not his fault. He recommended 4 monthly checkups for me .I d also recommend Whittaker mental health unit the staff are great. I think having men and ladies together helps you find balance in your head. I m not over keen in us being separated I suggest this should be reconsidered. I m not the only lady to say this .Thankyou

was turned away from walk in centre to go to a&e only to be sent back 1 hour later waited for 3 hours and told you have still got 1 hour 30 mins to go when it is displayed waiting time is 3 hour 30 mins Staff isn t helpful and actually rude when asked and when pointed out that s 4 hours 30 mins. Definitely wouldn t recommend go to manchester not worth the service at least other walk in centres can an appointment time to back for if the wait is that long. Doctors and nurses seem to be more interested in talking with one another than seeing the next patient which is what there job is especially if it full when people don t have space to sit Not good at all reason why NHS has a bad reputation because it s genuinely is!

Referred to pain clinic for 11 year on going pain in neck and upper back due to whip lash resulting in apparent disc damage. Was talked into having pain injection. Turned up, no food and stopped my co codamol so was in agony and very weak. Gowned up. Made to wait an hour or more vecause the doctor hadnt turned up. Iv put in. Blood pressure thing on arm. About to go through the swinging cowboy door when out comes doctor. Says im not having the pain injection because he doesnt think my pain is bad enough. Referred me for ANOTHER MRI scan(4th one). Went to that. Still not recieved results or any correspondence and that was a few months ago. Every time I ring the pain clinic nobody answers. Leave messages every time. No one calls back. Cant wait to leave Tameside. Next year God willing.

My father was in the Acute Cardiac Ward last week. The nursing care he received, the standard of medical care, the efficiency of the staff on the ward, the auxiliary staff and cleanliness was superb. Without them, my father wouldn't be looking at hitting his 100years- which is his aim.!!! He's only 87 , but they have not only give him a new lease of life, they have treated him with respect. Very impressed.

Arrived at a&e at 4:30 with a suspected heart attack. I saw the triage nurse pretty quickly but was then left on a trolley in the corridor until 7:30 I Was then taken into a cubicle where I waited for another hour before seeing a doctor who decided I needed to be admitted I then waited another hour in a& e before I was taken to a "daycare ward" as there were no other beds. I was then left waiting until 10:30 until they moved a criminal, who was handcuffed to a police man, to a side ward (must remember in future that you get a better room if your a drug addict) I finally got a bed at 11:00 extremely tired and emotional after my ordeal

Having tried 2 days to get an emergency appointment at the Drs for my son who was covered in a rash but without success, I was advised to take him to the Walk In Centre. I'm always reluctant to do this as I know how much pressure they are under, however, with a rash that we couldn't identify I didn't have a choice. All staff were fantastic and we were in and out within 90 minutes, and I can't thank them enough. I've also had 2 babies at Tameside Hospital and the maternity ward staff are fantastic too, even when under a lot of pressure.

I attended the Xray department with my 87 year old mum. She has had a back for some time and needed an Xray, but was nervous about having to wait for a long time and being uncomfortable, so had been putting it off. I rang to ask the best way to avoid a long wait & was advised to try and arrive for 9am. We arrived at the hospital about 8.40 and spoke to a lady on reception (in the main building entrance), she said that someone would take mum to Xray in a mobility scooter & also bring her back when it was completed. We weren't expecting this, and it was such a help. From arriving to us getting her back home took just over an hour - absolutely brilliant. Many thanks also to the volunteers who helped with the mobility scooter - lovely people. Thank You.

A&e Tameside it is the worst service that exist in Manchester the nurse who triage me was really rude.
I ve been on pain for the last 3 weeks and when I went at triage they told me that it is not urgent and what is the emergency ??
I think we should all receive a better treatment and I hope that one day all this could be changed.
So avoid NHS service .

NWAS, accident and emergency and the children unit were brilliant with my son who was having undiagnosed seizures. When we got a diagnosis the consultant and staff were compassionate and caring, making us feel nothing was too much, this was the feeling we got at all times from all services we have dealt with. Thank you
