Great place to go and unwind. Beautifully scenery, right on the water. Definitely recommend!

A real treat to play. Great shape and a wonderful staff.
Great place to stay. The 4th floor Lakeview rooms are fantastic.
This was a wonderful trip due to our room view (lake view).
The location was great with beautiful views of the lake. The room was very nice and the staff was extremely helpful.
Fourth September long weekend in a row. The rooms are very large and modern. And clean. Only missing a microwave for any families staying. The golf course is fantastic and the staff there are great. Our favourite place to play in cottage country. Highly recommended.
All was tremendous. Food, staff and facilities are the best I have experienced in the Muskokas. First class in every respect!
Played this course immediately after the ontario senior mens amateurs and it was in amazing shape. Beautiful course all around.
The positives: beautiful location and perfect beach on Lake Muskoka. The facilities were modern and very clean. Room in the hotel portion are modern, clean and well maintained. Pool are heated and views spectacular. Housekeeping was great.
What can be improved: the SERVICE! When we checked in, we were not given any information about the resort or what there was to do. We had to ask about everything. On rainy days there's nothing to do at the resort and the staff doesn't plan any activities indoors. No indoor pool or splash pad. The boathouse restaurant has perfect views but the service is terrible. We waited a long time to get served and again we had to flag down the waitress. The food wasn't good. We ordered the flatbread and it was a sloppy mess. We found out from another guest that Taboo advertised a lower rate on the same days we stayed there. It sucks to have paid more for a similar room. Apparently it was called a "hot rate".
Bottom line is if serviced was improved dramatically, this could be one of the best resorts in Musoka.
We had a good time! :)
First the positive points: we stayed at the main building and the staff was friendly, the facilities (pools, beach, trails, gym) were in close proximity. The room was clean, renovated and a good size. The bathroom was modern and clean (the bathtub did not drain too well). The resort has beautiful scenery.
What I didn t like: EXTREMELY over priced (I am aware that this could be for the long Canada Day weekend). So, I really believe this resort offered little value. I have no problem paying for expensive rooms as long as the hotel or the resort offers superior quality of service, rooms, food and facilities. Talking about food and lack of easy access to it: I would have thought that food and drinks would be available at poolside. After all if you are in the hospitality and service business wouldn t it make sense from a business perspective, to make food EASILY available all around the resort in order to generate more revenues. But no! Food availability is limited especially for families with kids. This goes for lunch and dinner - very disappointing. A good getaway or vacation centres on good food. Having stayed at a number of 4 & 5 star hotels and resorts both in Europe and the U.S., I would only give Taboo 2 stars.
In a nutshell, if you ask me if I would return, the answer is a definitive NO.
Lost some of its appeal since the fire. No main lodge any more.
Stayed at Premier Lake View room on 3rd floor for two days with my family. We had a great time there.
Firstly, the room was very clean. I mean really clean. Didn't find any hair in the washroom. Didn't find any dust at the windows. Housekeeping did pay attention to details.
Secondly, the room was very modern design (main reason I chose this resort).
Samsung smart tv on a full motion wall bracket to cover all angles in the room.
The bathroom was very spacious. Big glass shower with rain shower head and a space for you to sit. Water pressure and temperature were good.
Extra big bath tub for my kids to play bubble bath. Very deep and wide.
Three big closets for you to put all your belongings and a small fridge for you to use.
The water pools, the beach and water sports were great.
We will come back for sure.
Excellent food with a very nice view and great atmosphere.
Treble and disgusting service and stuff!
We had to stay in one of the oldest condo for 3 days in Canada day longe weekend!
Paid $3550 for 3 nights and the condo had sink and shower water dripping and lots of major problems!
My wife and I wanted to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary here. We wanted to stay overnight. We were on the phone with a gentlemen that works there to book our room. By far one of the most horrible experiences we had. He put us on hold several times. At one point he forgot we were put on hold and thought it was someone new calling in. Because of the poor communication over the phone we decided not to book anything with this resort. We noticed if something that small wasn't taken to consideration, I can only imagine how our overnight experience would've been. Very unfortunate to have people work there that don't care much about there customers and respect their time.
Beaches were well groomed. Rental and front desk staff were very kind
The lake view room has excellent scenery and spacious space, suitable for vacation. The kitchen dinner is also delicious.
Went for lunch. Food was amazing and would definitely recommend.
Visiting resident friends at the resort; had a wonderful time at the pool.
Taboo is a fantastic facility. It's been a long time since I've been, but the course was as good as I remembered. For this early in the season, and for how much rain we've had these days, conditions were impressive. Best greens we've seen all year.
Resort direct on lakeside! Room & bath clean & comfortable! Restaurant and bar ok. Good & fresh food & beverages! Resort hotel in a lonely location right near the lake! Room & bathroom small but clean! Fireplace! Restaurant good quality and good service with excellent wines!
Kudos to the grounds superintendent in keeping this wonderful golf course very well maintained through the beaver dams and swamps of Muskoka country!!!!
Golf course only review. The course is fantastic (as is the range), set into the landscape so naturally and it is challenging because of well placed hazards, quite a bit of elevation change and undulation on the greens. Condition for the hot summer is very good. Best of all, you feel like you are on your own - tee times every 15 minutes only and holes are very well secluded and separate from each other. Highly recommended. Staff super friendly and down to earth.
Very disappointing service. Housekeeping was awful. No beds made, no cleaning done, no toilet paper ect. No restaurant to eat at, no bar or entertainment like it used to be. l had to change our keys everyday because they didn't work. Very frustrating week, I would never come back. One star.
Taboo Muskoka Resort is a beautiful, well conceived, planned and constructed resort on Lake Muskoka. This luxury resort has fantastic service from exceptionally well trained and considerate staff. The only thing to even consider complaining aboit is the long winding road from Hwy 11... But even that is a Beautiful drive if you can be patient.
Resort is good but lake is not good...water looks black thru out due to algae in the lake...better to go n visit lake huron side which has crystal clear water..
Accommodations are modern and clean. The staff is friendly, but not always accommodating. The physical property is beautiful. Dinner was excellent, but restaurant breakfast, especially the buffet, was of poor value. The on-site activities are expensive.
Modern facilities, good food, staff was ok. My wireless didn't work but other people were fine.
It is an absolute amazing beautiful Golf Course you couldn't have done any better the location is amazing the staff is amazing the players are amazing! It is a tourist destination to be seen I absolutely love driving by looking at the amazingness Golf Course in the beautiful Muskoka area with an amazing Hotel straight across from the golf course you couldn't ask for a better weekend with just friends and or family Taboo rules I love this area I would recommend it to anyone
I was at Taboo recently to shoot a wedding. The staff in the hotel lobby we're excellent. Courtious and willing to help right away. The reason I gave 4 stars intead of 5 was from when I was in at the Boathouse Bar. It was a very hot day and the weddings ng was outside. I stood at the bar for 5 minutes while 3 bar tenders stood right in front of me washing glasses and playing with the till there was another one cleaning tables watching me and I thought he was walking over to help me but untead started talking to the girl right in front of me turning his back to me. I had to ask for assistance. I do have to say. While I was photographing the bride put on makeup in the room. The room was very clean and blight with a beautiful view.
A very nice place to visit and the Beach is great. (Know to a lot as the Sands)
Views and location are beautiful and rooms nicely updated, comfortable bed. Hotel rooms are very noisy, housekeeping woke us up as did family above us with kids running laps in their room. For the nightly rates, I would expect much touches like nicer towels, coffee maker and toiletries. These were similar to what you d get at a 2.5-3 star chain hotel. It s the little touches that make a difference and differentiate a place like this. Instead feels like a way for them to save money.
Played golf there. Nice course. A few holes I didn't think were particularly fair if you hadn't played them before (surprises when you got up the hills). All in all, just beautiful, peaceful. I'd definitely go back to play it again.
Great view. Lots of activities available mostly for free. A few minutes drive to Gravenhurst.
Tee blocks were in poor shape, full of weeds. Would not have expected that from a course with this reputation. Disappointed
Had a great time at taboo. Went Kayaking and drove a boat for the first time. When it comes to the Resort it is decorated with Modern dark colors which I loved. If you can chose a room facing the lake vs the parking. One of the reasons I chose the resort is the private beach with umbrellas and lounge chair. Early morning the parents with kids are at beach, and in the late evening the campfire and beach volleyball groups are around. The place was all mine at noon . Loved the breakfast at the boathouse. It is not cheap but worth it. Warm baked goods, yogurt and a variety of toppings. I loved the Cherry brandy jam, Passion fruit, ripe papaya, dragon fruit and croissants. My husband loved the Omelet bar and hot buffet (which does cost more). My husband also enjoyed dinner at the boat house. Loved the view over the lake in the evening and food.
What is the Rate Do you have two bedroom for 28 of August
Lots for kids to do. Lots of activities. Right on water. Very clean and well maintained. All of the staff was very helpful and polite.
Love spending time at Taboo! It's a great place to relax and wind down.
A lovely hotel and family-friendly condo resort just between Gravenhurst and Bracebridge on the South-East edge of Lake Muskoka with many amenities, including beach, pool, gym, golf course, rental boats, etc but no spa.
Hotel is modern, well-designed and recently updated so rooms are brand-new and in excellent condition. Gorgeous big bathrooms with huge tub and oversized rain shower-head.
One side of hotel offers lake-views, while the other side views the parking lot and resort. Ask for a higher floor with a lake view and balcony for a perfect Muskoka experience at night. Lower level lake-side rooms are blocked by trees.
On the other side of the resort, a 5 minute walk down the hill, is a sandy beach with recliner deck chairs that is maintained daily and pool and kid s splash pool are in excellent shape and central location with a full-time attendant that are also cleaned daily.
The on-site restaurant, also on the other side of the resort about a 5 minute walk, is The Boathouse, a gorgeous Lake Muskoka setting with a wrap-around deck and world-class food. The interior of the restaurant is somewhat sparse and no real real ambiance or decor which is strange because it could be so stylish with a little bit of colour and a few Muskoka decor touches... But the views from the outside deck of the docks, boats & lake are fantastic, so ask for a table outside with a heater as the mornings and evenings can be somewhat chilly. The food and service is EXCELLENT... every breakfast and dinner were exceptional.
Extremely friendly & helpful staff & countless daily activities available for all ages and evening bonfires by the beach.
Cons: Parking is somewhat limited and a couple of times we had trouble finding a parking spot. Not a great setting for anyone with mobility issues due to the steep hill and need for walking up and down hills and stairs to get to the restaurant, beach or pool. Many children running around so if you re in search of adults only look elsewhere.
Overall, quite expensive but that s Muskoka for you!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Great golf experience with excellent facilities, friendly staff, and a challenging course.
We had our first (and what I hope will be annual) working retreat at Taboo. Absolutely beautiful! The staff was courteous and helpful, the food was gourmet and my only regret was not getting to enjoy our beautiful room longer. Very comfortable bed, newly renovated rooms and the shower in the bathroom was luxurious. The grounds are stunning and my colleagues who played golf mentioned the course was amazing. We enjoyed an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Muskoka. Can't wait to go back.
Very nice course had a great time.....will be back for sure 100%
Me & kids enjoyed our room & the resort itself. Our room was updated & had a nice lake view. Good that it had few heated pools throughout the property. We also took advantage of included canoe & bike rentals.
I would consider going back.
Really nice rooms and views of Lake Muskoka. Staff was very pleasant and helpful.
Our experience was very bad with them. There was hair on the sheets, the food at breakfast was poor and didn't taste good. The price wasn't appropriate for the experience.
The amenities are great and the staff are friendly for the most part. A lot of really young staff that don t really help at all, nor do they enforce any of the resort rules . Getting a seat around the pool closest to the hotel amenities is hard because big families take up both a cabana AND pool lounge chairs to switch between for seating.
Service has deminished a lot from this once diamond level golf course. We had to unload our own clubs and even put them on the carts ourselves. Some carts had water provided and some didn't as was the case for us. Course is still great but only 3 stars because of hospitality inadequacies.
I can only speak to the golf course but the course is fantastic. Top notch practice facility. Unique holes carved out of the Muskoka landscape. Lots and of exposed rock and private holes, really pretty. Can be buggy though, wear pants. Pro shop and locker rooms are average. You come for the course.
I went for a golfing event to support the local kids hokey team. There were lots of sponsors including Prochilo Brothers Auto Collision who provided all the golf karts. The course was unbelievable, and the staff was great all around. The complimentary dinner at the end of the night was outstanding.
We had a very bad time after we brought a boat back , 3 yonge people like under age they started to inspect the boat to find some issues to charg us extra, when we asked for their boss to talk about our issue , there was no one to solve the issue!! So if you really want to enjoy your vacation overthere , just pay attention that you have to deal with three kids! And watch your credit card , beacuse they always hold 3000$ money to take an advantage of your money!
WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful resort with nicely updated rooms, great meeting room space, really good food, stunning views and nice amenities. The best part is that the staff are exceptional - every single person I encountered from hotel to restaurant to recreation and golf - were all super kind and accommodating which impressed me a lot since we had a group of 30 ppl. That kind of service is rare and special. Thank you Taboo!
One of the best place to spend time in summer with families and for couples
My fiancee and I had a great stay. My room was clean and comfortable and beautifully designed. I had supper at the boat house restraunt that's there and the food was great. Then we went for a walk down to the dock and watched the sunset. We ended the night with a ice cream at the golf course club house. It was a nice and relaxing night away that was well needed.
Just played golf. It's very scenic but the course itself is in rough shape. Some greens were beat up pretty bad, chewed tee blocks, dry fairways. The course would probably be much better if it was not such a dry summer. I will say they need more then one beverage cart and a marshal would be nice. I booked a twosome and they stuck us with total strangers because the course was full. There were four idiots behind us dropping balls a few feet from us all day. No marshal to complain to. If you are one of those four idiots... I tossed a few of your balls that almost hit me on the fairway into the bush
Very friendly and attentive service.
Food excellent and the view perfect. An all-round beautiful day.
Where it is not common in Orillia that there is a restaurant by the lake, you have to look for it;)
Very nice property, close to Gravenhurst and Bracebridge. Large very modern rooms and lots to do for the kids. Had dinner one night at the boathouse. Food was excellent... even the kids meals. We will visit again.
Wonderful place to stay! Great food, great rooms, excellent experience. The golf was great as well ;)
We went for a hike trails were clearly marked until we came to the green trail after a bridge then it was quite over grown so we turned around but very scenic and peaceful
Modern upscale comfortable room, fireplace, rain shower, great bedding etc. The grounds were beautiful, dining options OK but not on par with other amenities. Would have expected fresh milk and cream for coffee in room vs coffee mate powder. No onsite spa anymore.
Staff super friendly and accommodating. Really enjoyed the stay.
Nice resort, golf course condition has stepped back from what it used to be.
Outstanding property. My brother-in-law tells me the golf course is excellent as well. While not inexpensive, it is very well managed, and the condos are spacious and comfortable. Hotel very nice as well, undergoing renovation this winter.
Second year here with my family. I love this place.
What a great place this resort is! We stayed at this beautiful resort for our anniversary. It was our first visit but it won't be our last! Thank you staff for making our stay even more enjoyable with your smiley faces!
