Barely average, the place is showing its age and the service level is doing the same. Use at your own risk, the price does not reflect the quality!
Lots to do here...They have some amazing outdoor activities. Serene and relaxing for those who love peace. Great staff made our stay very comfortable.
The boathouse is an incredible venue for a Christmas party.
Nice little trail system for hiking and biking. Wide array of included amenities such as tennis, bikes, kayaks, and canoes. Some minor issues with quality such as an askew dishwasher door, dirty dishes, and uncomfortable placement of toilet roll holder.
Stopped in for lunch on our way back from the Muskoka's. Excellent food !! Great scenary !! Golfing, boating, etc.
Nicest in Muskoka but running down a bit. Service decent
I played golf and we quite enjoyed the experience. Wasn't in the best of shape but overall a nice course to play.
Winter time review. Condo was very nice and big. Everything clean. Nature is beautiful with nice walking trails. Unfortunately, beside occasionall bone fires, that is all this resort offers at winter time.
Beautiful spot but they seem to be cutting back on a lot for the cost of the rooms
The boathouse is a great spot for breakfast right on the water. Service is spectacular.
Very nice location. Loved the layout and the villas were great
Very clean, wonderful room, beautiful view of the lake
Prices for spring opening were incredible, however if I were to pay the regular price it would not be worth it. Resort needs some updating, not a whole lot to do, no indoor pools, in service room menus and robes provided. Options to make tea and coffee very limited.. barely any sugar or cream packets provided, not been enough to make two cups. Some rooms more updated than others, I could see my neighbors balcony and chairs looked so much nicer than mine. Location is great so close to many great restaurants and breweries. However, if coming to muksoka again I would stay at JW Marriott instead.
I went into the resort to deliver a barbeque to them from Canadian Tire. The grounds were kept very well cleaned and maintained. Nice location partially secluded yet still not far from town. I cant speak to the inside of the rooms at the resort but I can say that the outside of the buildings are quite nice.
Absolutely one of the best golf courses I've played
The room was beautiful! Loved the electric fireplace and balcony views.
Incredible course, and the service was over the top. Towels and water in every cart and guided you through the entire start. Course was maintained flawlessly. Spaced perfectly...we never caught up to the group in front, nor were we ever pushed from behind.
Course was really nice. Greens were great. Friendly staff.
Loved the beach and lake. The Gimme truck was delicious.
Great condo. Beautiful snowy weekend in winter wonderland.
There are lots of pools to swim in and a beach at lake muskoka to swim at. The raspberry daqueries at the boathouse are great. The rooms are comfortable and modern.
The new restaurant, The Boathouse, is excellent. Delicious food, and absolutely fabulous service from our server Bridgette.
We really enjoyed the course. We booked through bestgolftrips.ca. We golfed here on Friday. The staff were nice. The pace of play was good. We were paired with two other golfers that were nice. Theres a useful app that uses your phones location to give diatances to the green which was nice to use. We will golf here again next season.
Beautiful golf course with quite a nice set of accommodations attached. I'll start with the course itself: they've designed a course that really tries to marry the forest, the waterways and the stone to create a visually interesting and entertaining course. The resort itself is quite nice: the rooms are large and comfortable and while the restaurant was pretty aggressively overpriced considering the quality and content of the dishes, the patio was a great place to unwind and have a few drinks and snacks.
Great getaway location. Beautiful sunsets, spacious room. Subtle luxury.
We had a good time the service was very nice very helpful clean and beautiful
Played golf in a downpour the day before in wedding. Club was amazing providing us with towels to stay dry and coffee and Bailey's to stay warm. Was the best day of golf ever despite the weather.
The location of this resort is great. The golf course is beautiful, and the grounds throughout are well-kept. There were plenty of activities for everyone, including golf, tennis, ping pong, bikes and water sports. Several docks are available and there are a number of docks. I highly recommend this resort for couples and families.
Good hotel, the lakes are very beautiful there, staff is friendly.
Stayed in 3 bed/3 bath cottage. Could use some updating and more kitchen items. Kind of dated inside. Property was in great location and the water sports options onsite are excellent. Staff are excellent.
Delicious meal. Beautiful view. The beet salad was the best I have ever had.
Very rustic and beautiful facilities. Hotel rooms are new and well appointed with amazing lake views. Staff were warm and accommodating. Great place to get away from it all and all within a few minute drive from town.
Beautiful lakefront resort and condominium community. Features first class amenities and recreation for water sports, golf, and tennis.
We just came back from a weekend at Taboo Muskoka. I went with my husband and two little kids. This is my first time at a Muskoka resort so some of the cons I will mention may be "normal", however are definitely things that need to be improved.
I will start with the pros:
- Gorgeous views, absolutely breathtaking. The nature in the resort is so beautiful, the smell of pine everywhere is amazing. Clean beach and gorgeous sand.
- Beautiful modern rooms with comfy beds, full cable smart tv, nice bathrooms and tasty coffee
- The food (when actually available) is good
- Great for families with small kids. Warm pools, shallow clean beach, playground, and multiple other activities
The cons:
- Food is the biggest issue on this resort. There is one EXPENSIVE restaurant that turned us away on our first night as we didn't have a reservation. You'd think that when a hotel has a check in time of 4pm, when you arrive to eat at 5:30pm at the only restaurant on site you will be able to eat. But no, and no one mentioned it to us upon reservation or arrival. The only other food option on premises is a food truck and a shop at the golf course section of the resort that serves very small portions for incredibly outrageous prices. Think $14 for a plain burger without a side or a drink. We did get into the boathouse restaurant twice the next day breakfast and dinner (we made a reservation). Breakfast was delicious but the cheapest option is $20 per person no hot food or $28 with hot food. We don't usually eat breakfast at all but we had to feed the kids and that was the only place. We spent a whopping $70 on breakfast. Dinner was delicious as well and it cost us $140... we ordered the cheapest stuff.
We were there for 2 nights and really didn't want to take a one year old and a 4 year old on a drive into town every time they were hungry. An in between type of sit down restaurant with some quick breakfast, lunch and dinner options is really missing here. Especially that there are lots of families with small kids. It really did feel like a rip off.
- Staff - pleasant but not overly eager to accommodate. No one mentions things such as: reservations for dinner are strongly recommended, that there are beach toys and pool noodles available for kids, that there is an amazing deck with a swimming area behind the hotel etc. We had a general feeling of "here's a fake smile, leave me alone"
- Timing: nothing is really on time. Bonfire is supposed to start at 8pm but didn't start until 8:15, pools are supposed to open at 8am but are still disgustingly dirty at 8:30am
- Hotel condition - even though the rooms inside are nice (only issue was the AC, impossible to regulate. Aimed directly at the bed it was either blowing full on freezing air or is an oven - no in between) and the general feeling of the hotel is pleasant it's in need of major maintenance.
Our balcony was in a terrible condition with old Muskoka chairs with exposed wood that had splinters written all over it and spider webs all throughout. Couldn't let the kids out there at all. The pools look like someone hit them with a hammer in certain spots and it was very unsafe for the kids and in general not appealing. Dirty cabana areas with rust and stains.
It would also be nice if someone mentioned that the bonfire did not actually include marshmallows or smores. Nowhere is it mentioned that you need to bring your own if you want some and it is marketed as if it is part of the experience. I really don't mind bringing my own marshmallows but we didn't know and imagine the disappointment on my 4 year old's face when some of the other kids had it and he didn't.
In general we had a good time but we spent a whole lotta money on an experience that felt pretty average. We felt that for the money that we spent we could have gotten a better service and have been more comfortable in certain situations.
Great lunch options on the Boathouse deck overlooking expansive views of Lake Muskoka. Very short drive from downtown Gravenhurst. Doesn't get any better than this.
Wow, what a beautiful experience to stay at the Taboo Muskoka Resort. We were there with our 8 year old grandson for a week. Everyone on the staff did their very best to make our stay enjoyable. Our grand son had his 9th birthday while staying at the resort that week and the staff wished him a very happy birthday. Karen, from housekeeping, took care to make the bed the way our grandson wanted it done, like a little nest. Well done. Thank you.
We ate at the Boathouse and also at the lunch counter at the golf course, the Taboo hamburger was up there as one of the best I have had.
We lucked out to be at the Taboo resort while the fall colors were at their best, that added to the beauty of the area.
Good faculties. Nice water. Good for families. Needs a nicer lobby. Staff are super friendly. I would return.
I would give Taboo in muskoka a zero but the option was not available. We order a special plater (Extra ) we even ordered thru their web site was billed 1000$, ( approximate)then we were planning on staying for2 nights for dinner. Never bothered as our platters were not ready , service was horrible at the restaurant. This is NOT I emphasize NOT ,like the old taboo before the fire.don t waste your time or money!!! Heed my warning!
Great place for a birthday getaway! Happy Birthday Jessica!! :)
Friendly place they need to get their upgrades done as I don t think they are a 5 star resort any more
I wouldn't call it a Resort, more like apartments in cottage country and, one place to eat, basic fare onsite.
Gorgeous. Inspired. Breathtaking. All appropriate adjectives to describe the seats on the golf carts at Taboo Resort. The first thought that comes into your mind when sitting on these seats are These can t possibly be the seats on all the golf carts - they are too majestic. I figured that we got the best cart because it was my birthday but the attendant assured us that all the carts were the same and he didn t care that it was my birthday. No one mentioned my birthday at all. The stitch work was impeccable, comfort unparalleled. I can only assume the fabric was imported leather (the clubhouse staff was unfortunately not able to answer any fabric related questions. They appeared quite durable - for sure stain and water resistant. The curvature of the seats must have been inspired by a fine Italian seamstress. The armrests were ergonomically curated to comfort an adult of any stature. While their intended function was well served, their sex appeal was undeniable. The seats were so plush I couldn t decipher any difference between when I was driving through the rough and when I was driving on the green. When you aren t on them, you want to be on them. When you are on them you can t imagine being anywhere else. Golf was adequate.
Went to dinner tonight at the Boathouse with a group of ten friends and family. Overall very disappointed. Service quality was poor and food quality was definitely not acceptable for what has been billed as a fine dining establishment. With limited fine dining options that are boat accessible on Lake Muskoka, it is very sad to see what this place has become.
Beautiful place, we sat on the terrace at the table seen on the resort photos. Excellent food, great view, and courteous service. The hotel is situated on the lake, big trees, docks and a small sand beach. Surely worth a visit.
Went to dinner and had the (not) nice surprise to know that they had problems in the kitchen. So takes too long for the food came and at the end, wasn't that amazing taste.
The golf course and golf shop staff are incredible. The resort is below what I imagine a Motel 6 would be like. Window air conditioners that will keep you awake all night. Then there is the wonderful Resort Fee added at the end of your stay for "use of the pool, beach, wi-fi and other amenities". Golf there, stay anywhere else.
All in all a lovely place. We went there during the week and stayed at the hotel. Was not very busy so we could walk down to the dock and get a canoe or kayak anytime. Lake was warm and shallow so perfect for kids. The resturant was not very welcoming so we did not eat there. Lack of food options is why I scored it a 3 . We went to the nearby town and got food there.
All in all a lovely place. Would go again.
The service and food at the boathouse restaurant is amazing!
One of the best Golf courses in the Muskoka region, which says a lot. Always kept in great condition, challenging and tees to apply to all skill levels. Don't let the 'clubhouse' distract you of the course's beauty. Grab a beer on the water post round and take in a beautiful Muskoka sunset.
Great service, good food, nice warm pools, quiet and comfy rooms.
Nice rooms, friendly service, great place to visit!
Full Saturday of amazing golf in Muskoka with our group of 8. Started at Muskoka Highlands Golf Links in Bracebridge (just across Lake Muskoka) and had an unreal game there. Then headed to Taboo for the afternoon matches! The staff and course conditions at both Taboo and Muskoka Highlands Golf Links were amazing. Taboo gave us a run for our money in the afternoon! We are making this an annual event now because of this great Muskoka experience.
Undergoing renovations, lots of noise and supplies everywhere. Exterior very dated and tired. Grounds and pools not very nice and also needing upgrades. No hot tub on the property. $3.50 for a cup of coffee downstairs and it's serve yourself. Hotel was empty but gave us parking lot view room. Rooms were nice and recently renovated. Staff was pleasant.
I only played golf. Immaculate condition, very challenging course. Clubhouse in need of update, only a snack bar no dining.
Parking lot is a gravel mess!
Food is ok but overpriced. Dinner menu is lacking in options.
Great place to stay or just play golf always friendly and go above and beyond
Still like the resort, but I miss the spa and the ability to go in the winter.
Not bad. Room was recently renovated and had nice view of the lake. Golf course is above average and well maintained. Good staff.
The staff are always welcoming and assist you at any time of the day. The golf course on the other side of the road is fantastic as well with a crew of workers that are attentive to your needs and wants! There are tons of activities to take advantage of at the resort including kayaking, tennis, canoeing, hiking, or enjoying a nice pint on the lake! Great place to visit and even better to stay! You'll never want to leave!
There are a lot of activities here. Obviously weather permitting. It was very windy yesterday but the woods cut out the wind so that we had a pleasant walk on snow shoes supplied by the resort. They are working hard to groom a skating rink but again the weather did not cooperate so in 10 minutes we were in Gravenhurst swimming (YMCA) in the morning and back in the afternoon for skating at the community centre. I am waiting to be able to go cross country skiing, as this should be a lovely activity on this property.
Only had the chance for a single overnight stay for a business trip. Stayed in the main hotel, but the room was very clean, modern, and comfortable. Location is simply stunning. I hope to head back for a longer stay.
Speaking strictly to the golf course and it's amenities. Breakfast at the course took much too long for simple items. The golf course is always picturesque but the conditions were awful. Too many areas needed work and newly laid sod was not done to the quality one would expect. Overall disappointment.
