I want to love this place as the work they do is so important, but they really stuffed it up in our case. Out landlord booked the healthy homes assessment with sustainability trust then booked in insulation upgrade and plastic humidity shield with them on their advice. I was told I didn't need to be home and that it would take only 1 day so organised access and went to work... then got home from work to discover the old polystyrene insulation had been parially crushed and left littered through the basement and garden, I couldn't even open the basement door and the new insulation and ground sheet both have holes in them already on day 1. We can't use out basement storage and inconvenience and problematic work aside, after hours cleaning up the garden I am horrified by the amount of polystyrene in there caused by this work recomended and organised by sustainability trust. This is so unacceptable for an organisation that spuiks sustainability, very dissapointing.

Good things: informative displays, lots of helpful volunteers, free electric vehicle charging. Also, they can recycle batteries, light bulbs and any kind of appliance (computers, TVs, etc).
The downside is that it's really expensive. Although in Auckland there are computer recycling companies that will take your stuff for nothing, in Wellington you'll have to pay and it's quite expensive. We were charged over $90 for two computers, a hard drive,, some light bulbs and some batteries. Mobile phone recycling is free, however.

A great idea, and I've tried to support them, BUT...
April 2020 we contacted them for a heat pump install. The assessor came in May, then failed to send us the quote, got the information wrong, and upon much following up by us and moving up the chain, finally we received an invoice for the deposit. We paid it right away (October 2020) and were told it would be 6 weeks because of Covid. Now, end of January 2021, again after complaints that nothing was happening, we are told it has been ordered, and it will likely be installed in late April, maybe May 2021. That's a full year after we started what seemed like a simple process because of endless delays on their part. Whatever happened between them receiving our money in October last year and January?? Clearly not ordering the unit. Unbelievable. So disorganised and unprofessional assessor. Greg his manager has good customer service skills, but certainly hasn't really effected any change since we got him involved (or if he has, I dread to think how long we'd be waiting otherwise). A not-for-profit organisation, and I suspect with 'service' like this, it would have no hope of making it in a 'for-profit' world. They need your support to survive!

Great charity/initiative but so disorganised couldn't get insulation, down-lights etc

Booked a healthy home assessment last year just before covid, assessment was delayed until end of lockdown which is fine but the assessor was meant to quote for the downlights as well as insulation but needed to get someone else in, they also said they'd nee to get someone else in to quote for a heatpump. Got a quote for the insulation weeks later and heard nothing about the downlights, followed up weekly for months and was never able to get the downlight assessment. I also couldn't go ahead with the insulation install because they advised not to do that without the led downlight upgrade as they can't do the downlights after the insulation! So in the end i gave up and stopped following about the downlights. The idea of a one stop healthy home shop sounds great, get your insulation, heatpump, lights etc done all in one go but in reality they're so disorganised (seems the case from other reviews too) they end up loosing keen customers.

Great showroom and retail. Helpful and relaxed staff. Off-street parking. Coffee cart out front. LIbrary of how to books. Great destination. Go there: recycle your stuff, buy some green items, and educate yourself.

A wonderful organization doing important work. They have a range of useful and interesting things in their eco-shop as well. If you are interested in living sustainably in Wellington, I recommend you check it out.

Cannot follow instructions, left the house wide open upon leaving, and left two of their jerseys on my kitchen bench. I left a key that they apparently didn't know about so they woke up my flatmate who works night shift, and turned up early which they were told in no uncertain terms not to. Woefully unprofessional.
