Participated in a baking/cake decorating class. It was so much fun and the cakes we made were delicious...included easy to follow recipes. Chef Stefanie and her helpers are a great group.

I've been to Surfas dozens of times but never stopped at the Cafe. Yesterday I thought that I'd give it a shot. Simply the best grilled chicken sandwich that I've ever eaten! I observed many regulars there lamenting that the salads were already sold out. I will be back for SURE!

It is a great place to indulge my snobbery. The cafe is great spot that for coffee and a light bite. I also dream of affording the chefs supplies. Amazing window shopping for the aspiring chef.

What a lovely neighborhood cafe! I haven't tasted their food, but I have tasted their beverages and they are good. There is wifi and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The ambience is quiet, perfect for those who need to relax or study.

Deserves more than 5 stars! The Surfas Cafe/Deli inside the store is Mid-City's newest addition to GREAT places for a bite. The have sandwiches, soups, coffee, deli items, cheese, cured meats, cooking ingredients/items and more. Browse commercial kitchen equipment, talk to experts, and like myself get inspired. Overall this is a must visit store if you are local to the location or feel up to taking well worth it trip.

This place is perfect for bulk items for any culinary recipe. They also have a vast variety of cooking tools. Parking on property, I live very close by and decided to walk. Ordered from their lunch option at their nice little Cafe. I was impressed with the quality of food.

Super bummed drove 20 miles to see new store and really disappointed. Fifty percent less products and equipment than original store. They need to realize that we have a whole lot of choices like Whole Foods and Amazon.

There are more professionally oriented culinary shops on the west side. However, Surfas manages to make more obscure things acessible to everyone, and the cafe is excellent. That said, it does tend to get a little crowded, and as a result, kind of chaotic.

The new Surfas location is AMAZING! I was looking online for a new and used restaurant equipment store and BAM, there they were. About my visit: The new store brings back good memories of the Culver city location and the delicious menu at Surfas Cafe had to offer. I was amazed to see all the new equipment, appliances, ingredients, cleanliness of the store and easy to browse areas. I took the time to visit the cafe and had myself a pressed sandwich with a freshly squeezed orange juice. I must say... This place is a wondeful getaway of a store if I've ever seen one. Overall 10 out of 10... Thanks Surfas!

Note one...the references to a "seedy neighborhood seem to be from people who rarely venture out of OC or east of La Cienega. It's fine. Great you liked the Culver City location you will love this one. I stopped in to get a bite at the cafe. Warning...if you are in any way carb limited there is nearly nothing to eat. Apparently they haven't gotten the memo yet. Pastries, sandwiches, even the chicken salad has dried cranberries. I will be back to shop and maybe a coffee, but no dice on the cafe. People and service still as knowledgeable and friendly as ever

Came here because this is supposedly one of the few places in LA that sells fresh yeast. I was completely blown away by their selection of fine ingredients and kitchenware. It's a very uncomplicated store, and I could walk around and just look at everything in my own pace, just soaking up inspiration. I spent a good hour looking at things that I didn't even know existed.

Nice spot. The staff was all very friendly. I stopped in for a coffee and saw that they have ready made sandwiches so I picked up lunch too. They have a large selection of kitchen tools and cookwear. I'll have to come back when I need to replace my cooking pans.

While the parking lot can be a bit more fun than it should be, Surfas has everything you need for your kitchen. It's a nice hybrid between a consumer and pro outlet, along with classes in everything from bread to sausage to candy. Great selection of pans, tins, sheets, and hardware. Great pastry accessories, too, from chocolate to flavorings to all the fun molecules you could need. Check out the cheese and charcuterie counter, and the frozen food is great. They also have a cafe, which while a bit pricey, makes a mean sandwich and some great pastry.

This place is great. Went in looking for a fish/deli display for our family business and the customer service was amazing; the kind I like to give to my customers. Everyone was friendly. I found the cheese area such a delight. My mom and I More

If you are serious about food, cooking or baking Surfas is a must visit. They used to be located in Culver City at a( what seems to be) larger venue but recently moved to their current location which is in a somewhat seedy neighborhood. But I m not complaining because they have some unique ingredients like their porcini powder which is a staple for any savory food I make. They also serve great prepared food that are very tasty but unfortunately a bit pricy. Parking is provided. Prices are on the high side.

Great store! Tons of equipment and cooking supplies. I think the prices are fairly comparable to Amazon... honestly I don't care, it's way more fun to shop here and the staff is helpful. I decided to start cooking pizza, so I got everything needed. Now I just need to make a pizza :-)

Our company hosted a culinary experience at Surfas on Washington. Having driven by Surfas for years, I d never stopped in to check it out. Soo happy I got to experience the Surfas Culinary class! We made Mediterranean dishes, kabob, veggie kabob, bomb hummus garlic + red bell pepper + regular Being a part of making our own food and learning the ins and outs of spices temperatures and processes was well worth it. Would absolutely go back for the much talked about Pizza class

This place is awesome. If you love to cook as much as I do, this is the place to go for specialty items. They may not carry everything, but they had the curing salt I've been looking for as well as a brand of demi glace that was made with quality ingredients and not a bunch of chemicals and additives. They also have some great sandwiches and salads. I'll definitely be going back.

So much unique stuff to be found here! I always come to buy little gifts for people that they won't find anywhere else. The cafe seating area outside is pretty cool too, I love its colorful, rustic decor, the wood tables & brick wall, very nice! The parking is a bit tight but the place is totally worth the trouble

They almost never have what I've been looking for. Hopefully other people have better luck than me and they are really able to find this place helpful because I have not. I just don't know why I keep trying lol make myself feel dumb.

The team I work with was looking for a group outing, and everyone wanted to have a cooking class (we love food). Being a frequent visitor to Surfas ever since it moved into my neighborhood, I offered to set one up there. The whole experience - from the planning to the actual event - was easy and pleasant, and the whole team had a blast. Vanessa helped me get everything set up - selecting the date, choosing the cuisine, confirming the details. On the day of the event, we were in the capable hands of Chef Carolina, who had the exact right blend of humor and business to get the job done and have fun at the same time. We all worked together to prepare a delicious Persian feast, which we enjoyed at a lovely table set by Carolina and her staff. I highly recommend Surfas for a group class! And while you're there, stock up on kitchen items, some frozen ciabatta (SO good), and delicious cheese!

A cooking enthusiast's dream! Their prices are a bit high compared to other kitchen supply stores but they have more variety than their competitors. Along with kitchen supplies, they have a deli, adjacent cafe, cheeses, meats, a wall of refrigerated items like all different kinds of flour and butter, books, knives, chocolates, etc.

This is a great place to get any obscure ingredients or cooking utensils you may need. I searched all over for "grains of paradise" and this was the only place that had it in Culver City. I'm not a big fan of the cafe, though. It's a bit overpriced. The sandwiches are fresh, but nothing special.

Just an amazing local supply store for your kitchen. The small cafe attached has a good selection for breakfast and lunch. But before you checkout with all the fancy kitchen gear, take that cooking class here ;)

There customer service is terrible. Nobody ever answers the phone in there department, and then you leave a voice mail, and they don't return your calls. They also promise certain delivery's of equipment, that never gets delivered when promised. Also, they have mickey mouse delivery system, with make shift equipment, that can't handle the equipment there delivering, so it comes to you damaged. Sales people are misleading.

The Culver City Surfas is not as big as the Costa Mesa location. But this doesn't mean they have less to offer. I was able to find exactly what I was looking for. Surfas is a culinary delight and I would not hesitate to come here if you have never visited this restaurant supply store. Just be warned, food items, without exception, cannot be returned.

Too bad they are going out of business. It was convenient for me to drop I for hard to find goods and equipnent... but always too pricey. Great staff and customer service. Everything right now is 50% off. Including store fixtures and shelves.

Great place for the enthusiast and the restauranteur alike! Features many hard to find high-end ingredients and restaurant grade utensils and equipment. Cooking classes and a sandwich shop make it a great place to visit even if you're not buying.

I don't know how to cook but now I think I want to. I came here with a foodie friend and the store has everything. I mean, I don't know the use of most of the stuff I was looking at but still. Avoid weekend shopping, it was pretty busy.

I am really feeling mixed. about this place now. I went when it first opened and I had really high hopes. Met the owner and chatted with her awhile. Now I went back today months later and it feels empty still. I'm sad because I loved the old location but they had to move and i don't want to shop at Sur La Table.

We're lucky to have Surfas nearby. My go-to flour for biscuits is White Lily Self-Rising, and Surfas pretty much always has it in stock. Although stock of all other items is somewhat hit and miss, just looking around I've found some really useful items for my kitchen.
