Must see if ever in Memphis! Mark was a great tour guide- knowledgeable, funny and friendly
So this is a one of a kind place. Tons of history here with Elvis, Johnny Cash and many others recording in the small space. The tour is short but you get to learn about the beginnings of rock and roll and how it bled from the south up the Mississippi River.
Very cool place to visit and see where Rock and Roll got its start!
Great historic recording studio. Very interesting and informative
Hard to imagine so much magic happened in one little place.
The history here is a must see, so many huge stars got their start here. The tour guides are energetic, fun and very knowledgeable. You can tell they are passionate about their job and the studio.
Thanks for the great tour Graham. Like a walk back in time.
Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll? Sure, why not, it has as good of a claim as anyone else. This was a must-see for me when we went to Tennessee last year and it was totally worth it. The place is small but the tour was informative and fun.
Really cool place to visit. If you are interested to learn how the rock and roll music was born "Sun Studio" is the place. The tour itself is fun and interesting. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The place is really unique and it's kept almost the same since it was first open. You can feel the vibe of the music and spirit in the air. Highly recommend to see if you are visiting Memphis.
Great place to learn history about rockabilly and early outlaw Country music.
The guides know much more than you think. Piece of history. Do not miss it even if it's always busy.
Great experience!
You can really feel the music energy!!!!
Brilliant. This is history right here. Step in the to the studio where so many musical legends recorded music! Not to be missed if you're visiting Memphis.
Love the history of this place a great place to tour
It is very amazing to stand in the same room where all the greats played and recorded pretty much all of their early classics. Very informative tour as well.
Sun studios sits amongst other modern buildings almost unassuming! The magic of Sam Philip's still flows as by night it is still a recording studio. With a little imagination you can see what is now history. The museum tour(upsrairs) is fun & very informative before you step into music history.
What can I say.... This is the birthplace of rock and roll and and pilgrims should always make their way here to learn about the great Sam Phillips... Make sure to book the tour its a fantastic experience with people who genuinely love to work there... Five stars
Fascinating place and great tour. Our guide was amusing and very informative.
Glad we went and well worth the entrance money
Came to Memphis for the whole Elvis tour. So, I had to stop at Sun Studios. This was an amazing tour and so much fun. I wish I new the tour guides name, but he was awesome. I would definitely recommend anyone to visit here. The parking is a little confusing, but still worth it.
Very cool! Great feeling to stand where rock history was made.
Absolutely amazing!!! Clara, our guide, was both well informed and fun to listen to. Being a musician and lover of that period I commend the owners for keeping this historic place alive and still being used today. I wish we had the same sense of value and entrepreneurship back in Canada. Where we have lost some of our most iconic studios: Le Studio, Morin Heights, RCA Victor in Montreal, etc. Thank you for preserving this studio. Denis R
One of the great locations in music that has to be visited even if just once. Lots of history happened there. So much to see and the tour was very informative. The place is small and yet so impacting on music. The only issue I had was that it always seem like the kinda place that once you see it once, there isn t much reason to go back.
Amazing history our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Such an incredible place to visit.
The staff is awesome and the tour was interesting and informative! A great place to visit!
Fantastic tour. Graham the tour guide was fun and made the experience well worth it.
If u like Elvis Presley u r going to love this place
you can feel the history of some of America's music there
A very interesting place. We enjoyed the tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and cordial, also had a good voice. The tour was a little quick for reading all the plaques. The parking is in the back of the building, driveway next to the building on the right. Nice gift shop with; records, t-shirts, shot glasses, etc.
Sun studio's was amazing. Your missing out if you don't visit.
The tour was a bit overcrowded making it difficult to move around and see what they had on display. Tour guide was knowledgeable. Cool place to see
Fun little gift shop an tour. Definitely recommend it for someone who is looking for a break between Elvis and BBQ. Tours are every half hour and I suggest you be half an hour early.
Great tour guy made the tour more interesting ... Great information about Sun Studio and who went there back in the day ... It a must see when u go to memphis Tennessee
I don't understand why they don't do tours more often. The room was PACKED and there was no way to see anything and you couldn't go back to see. Really disappointing. They do offer a free shuttle that no one was using. Thought that was strange... use the shuttle.
Quick and easy access to one of the coolest MUST sees for any fan of music.
If music was a religion, this place would be my very own holy land ! This is the legendary studio that launched artists such as Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash ! Not to mention the blues legends B.B King, Howlin' Wolf, Rufus Thomas... and many more !
Any Rock, Blues, Soul & Country fan MUST visit this iconic place where everything began.
It was quite disappointing, as they had 30+ people on each tour in a small area, so picture taking was hard, people did not want to move. Parking was hard also, there are also steps for people that may have problems getting up and down stuff. Though History was good and the guide Lahna was a bright spot. I will not go back or take anyone back there.
Despite the small size, the tour guide made the small charge well worth it. We were traveling with our pup and it was rather hot when we arrived. I fully expected that I would have to wait outside with the dog while my wife took the last tour of the day.
The staff gets extra kudos (and stars) for volunteering to watch her while we both took the tour. Our dog also gives them 5 paws up.
Amazing history if your a elvis fan it's a must visit......
Great little tour, worth every second! Definitely do this!!!
Great place to visit and understand how rock and roll was born. Tour guide was so knowledgeable, energetic and funny. A must visit.
Really awesome tour with a guide. It costs 13 dollars per ticket and there is a nice little waiting room/souvenir shop. The tour is about 30-45 minutes. I thought it was an awesome experience to see all the history of Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley. The tour guide was really great too!
If you are in the Memphis area, you have to do the Sun Studio tour. It's not a long tour - really, it's four rooms total - but the music history is second to none. In a very real sense, it is the birthplace of rock.
Excellent to see where many famous got their start and all the equipment they had to work with compared today very nice guided and explained very well
Well worth the trip. The tour is not only informative but also entertaining
It is a must to visit the studio where great names of the music passed, such as: Elvis Presley, B.B. King, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, etc. Extremely well preserved is that place that makes you go back in time. It has a guided tour in the center of the studio where we find original objects. There is still a small cafe and selling interesting souvenirs.
Was really awesome and our guide Lahna really helped the place come to life. Highly recommend !!!!
Great look at the early music history in Nashville. Go inside.
Fun to visit and see the memorabilia where Elvis recorded his first record
Excellent tour guide,it took me back in time, loved it !
Great tour.
Very emotional for me
The vibe of the building is very alive.
Great value.
I would go again.
It was awesome. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable
Excellent. Definitely worth your time and $$. We really appreciated the detailed tour. Sun Studio is soooo much a part of Memphis. It's a must EXPERIENCE. The Studio remains original but is still used by many up and coming, as well as famous musicians today. YA GOTTA GO!!!
What an amazing experience I had at Sun Studio! The tour was a very decent price, the guide was funny, informative, friendly and knowledgeable, the displays were fascinating and I left feeling like I bathed in musical history and magic. Oh and on your visit you have got to get a malt. I've never have one that tasted so delicious! Sun studio is a place I'd go back to everytime I'm in the Memphis area!
Tourist trap would be a more accurate description. Completely packed, shoulder to shoulder. It is now a coffee shop.
This place is a must when visiting Memphis! Great tour and story about the studio and the history of rock n roll and of music recording. My tour guide, Graham, was a great tour guide. Very cool experience all around.
Step in to a piece of history. Makes you tinkle thinking what went on in there. Music lovers check it out.
Loved it. The best museum by far during our 12 day tour of Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans. So authentic. I could stay for hours. Left the place tearful and happy.
Awesome place to visit. So much history coming from the home of ROCK & ROLL
Well guided tour. Just dont lick the mike. Non of Elvis germs left apperently
Take a tour of Sun Studio if you're in Memphis; you won't regret it! Cute little place with plenty of memorabilia and artifacts for all music lovers. Standing on the hallowed ground where Elvis recorded his first song wasn't half bad either.
