Breathtaking views that are second only to the breaktaking trek up. Took us roughly 45 minutes to get to the gate. The view at the top was amazing.
The view is amazing but the place is not so impresseve
Bit of a trek, but worth the view to see Machu Picchu from a distance.
For those who arrive at Machu Picchu by the Inca trail, it is through the gate of the Sun that one has the first view of the citadel. The place is built in the exact position that the sun rises on the summer solstice !!
Waited for the clouds to clear and it was worth it!
But best if you do the Inca trail from kilometer 204.
Unique experience, because it was the place my son chose to be engaged
Do everything in Machu Picchu and then stop there to relax and recharge your batteries before you leave.
After a short walk you arrive at a place that should be a must. Beautiful views and spectacular to see how the sun rises from there.
30 minutes walking from main gate in Machu Picchu. But it worth. Nice view of site during the way and of valley
Seeing how civilizations create structures that line up with celestial bodies is always amazing. Not only that you have to work to see it which is even better.
Excellent place, you just need to ask for a lot of information and many times
You can't go to Machu Pichi without going up to the door of the sun, the view is worth it, but don't you think of going up to the door of the sun if you go to Waynapichu later. We suffered and we were almost late.
Do the hike and finish at the sun gate. Amazing experience
Best place to take pictures of the machupicchu
I highly suggest to do the 2 days inka trail and enjoy the view from this incredible spot
It was the best experience, since without a guide we got to this point. Thanks to the man who took care of the sanctuary, he explained to us in more detail.
It is just incredible. You must see it by yourself. You won't regret the effort to get the top.
The revered Sun Gate. The culmination of our 4 day trek to Machu Pichu. Great journey for both comraderie and introspection.
It's a bit of a trek from the main ruins, but shouldn't take you more than 20 or 30 minutes, and it offers a really unique view of the ruins and a nice spot to relax and enjoy the gate.
When hiking the Inka trail this is where you ll get your first view of Machu Picchu. And what a fantastic view this is. Make all the effort worth it. You can also reach it in about 30min coming from Machu Picchu itself.
Beautiful place, to get on a walk along a beautiful stone path ... a stunning and panoramic view of the Inca citadel. Highly recommended !!
Tiring walk worthwhile. The views from the door of the sun are unmatched. In that place ends the mythical path of the Inca.
An indescribable view of the Inca site Machu Picchu. After strenuous climb a nice reward. We would definitely do it again.
Its aways walk from the main entrance to Machu Picchu. Not one of the most beautiful ruin on site, but tremendously interesting story and purpose. A sight to see on June or December where the Sun comes out in the exact right angle in between the pillars and through the sun temple. Its not about the place, its about the sight
Dont go in January. Too foggy. Couldn't see a thing. We tried to get our money back but no...
Very nice view of the macchu following the road by the door of the sun! 40min of good walk to have a global view of the macchu
Spectacular!!!! It is at the same height as Huayna Picchu
It is located in the highest part of Machu Picchu (2720.56 m.s.n.m). People who travel the Inca Trail have access to Machu Picchu from this part. From here you can see Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu and the Urubamba River. If you enter through Machu Picchu with your ticket you can enter Inti Punku.
Great perspective of Machu Picchu from this vantage point and how it lines up with the Sun window at Machu Picchu
If you are looking for the best view of Machupicchu this is one of them
If there is fog and little visibility, it does not pay to come here. It was originally the gateway to the entrance to the city. Today it is mainly about the perspectives.
This is a great walk. Took us 45 minutes up from the start of the trailhead. We do walk fast but its fairly easy.
Even if you are tired you have to arrive ... spectacular views
Loved it! Glad I made the climb as was my 71 year old father. Not for those with bad balance. Would be very slippery if raining.
My guide told me it was about 0.2 miles each way.
Went in the second turno. First thing we did is to climb there scaping from the heavy traffic of tourists, the climb is mild to easy. We had a clear day with final rainbow. And the views are amazing.
Great views! Not sure it's worth the hike from Machu Picchu, but it's on the way with the 4 day hike! :)
A good tour and gives you a nice view of Macchu Picchu along the way. What I would suggest is that it be secured with railings certain parts of the road that are very narrow and there is an abyss to the extreme
The view from this point of Macchu Pichhu is unreal, especially after the 10k Inca trail walk. I would recommend to be at the sun gate to see the sunset, and the next day try and be inside Macchu Picchu for the beautiful view of the sun rise through the sun gate.
I climb a lot of mountains fine from the entrance of Machu Picchu ruins.
It is about an hour until we get to the gate of the sun because it is climbing.
Be sure to bring water with you.
Since foot steps are also bad, we recommend that you wear hiking shoes.
The scenery is the best. You can see the road from Machu Picchu village,
You can see the whole ruins.
Great site with an even greater view of Machu Picchu
Unforgettable view after about 35min rise to 2720m.
From here you have one of the best views of Machupicchu. Many tourists climb to appreciate the landscape surrounding the area. Know that the road is paved and it is all uphill. You go back the same way.
When the INKA ROAD is made, it is from this point that the archaeological center can be appreciated.
It is the end of the Inca Trail, the city is seen from above, the best images are taken from here
It costs to go up, but it's worth it, from above you can see the whole beautiful landscape.
Brilliant views from the top. Be patient if its cloudy they clear and the sights are awe inspiring. Its a tough climb up but well worth it.
It has an incredible view, although it is demanding for people who do not practice sports or exercise.
Takes about 1 hour to walk from Macchu Picchu village. The sun gate itself is nothing super cool, but the views are amazing!
Difficult climb, but worth it for the magnificent view of the mountains !!
Long, steep walk, but totally worth it to see machu picchu from above. Spectacular view.
Arriving at the sun gate after trekking the Inca Trail is the big payoff. The view down into Machu Pichu is just stunning.
Got a chance to visit the sun gate on the last day of our hike but it can also be reached if you take the train.
Magnificent views If you go to Machu Pichu you have to go. It must be incredible to make the way of the Inca to get there and see the city. I did it by entering the bus. Even and so it is beautiful
An amazing walk. I hope you can sharpen your ears to hear the nature and smell to feel the smell of all the plants on the way. And to reach the end is an incredible experience, it is a breath of life, to appreciate the view is love.
Good place after walking uphill to the door of the sun and the view of Machu Picchu and the Huayna Picchu mountain in front.
Getting to the sun gate is no easy task especially if your doing it as part of the Inca trek, but once you arrive it is breath taking the views are amazing. One note if you arrive and machu pichu is hidden in the clouds don't waste to much time waiting for it to clear there are other vantage points as your walking down.
Worth it after a 1 day Inca trail but not sure if worth it just going direct. If cloudy you won't see anything but an impressive feature after the trail
About a 30-40 min slow-consistent walk from Machu Picchu to Sun Gate. Definitely worth it.
