The ONLY way to see Machu Picchu for the first time!
A great view of .machupicchu from this place that is the end of the Inca trail
A nice walk which offers a lovely view to Machu Pichu and much easier than the Montana walk which is only steps.. good with children
Nice, it is relatively easy to climb but you have to like trekking a lot.
Allow 40 minutes to ride slowly. At the top unobstructed view of Machu Picchu.
It is strongly recommended to reach this point and see the view of the mountains and the beautiful city
Great views of MP and the valley from there, but wish there was a sign with more info about its significance.
It is well worth going up there, especially in the morning, when the sun illuminates the citadel and the agricultural terraces.
A point of view quite far from the site itself. It requires a long ascent but offers a superb view of Machu Picchu.
I recommend it in case of good weather, with a clear view, otherwise the experience would not be as pleasant.
Moreover, given the time required to make the round trip (2 hours more or less), I do not recommend it to visitors with a ticket for the mountain or the Huayna Picchu. As the entries are valid for half a day, you will no longer be able to go out (outside toilets).
It is very worth going up for the sunset. The climb can take about 40min. Do not miss it.
Make sure you pick the right time to go here, we went in the wet season and didn't see anything. We had to get there early though due to lines at checkpoints, luckily we did see Machu Picchu just a few hundred meters further. I'm told it's only an issue with fog in the wet season so pick the right time to go. The walk down from Sun Gate to the top level of Machu Picchu is really nice and a fairly easy walk so it's still worth seeing of you have the time.
Personally I found this place more impressive than the little hill top city of Machu Picchu. It s subjective though. Be prepared for a moderate hike though.
We hiked from KM 104 and climbed the Gringo Killer steps up to the Sun Gate. Exhausted after seven miles of vertical and descent, we were very energized by overcoming our personal challenges and see the Machu Picchu citadel (another mile away, but downhill).
Okay so obviously anyone recommend visiting this part of the Machu Picchu Park. I personally recommend I personally recommend hiking part of the Inca Trail, we started at km 104 and hiked for about 6 hours and finished at the Sun gate which gave us an amazing view of Machu Picchu way at the top of the mountain! I also recommended booking this through the company we used called cultural immersions. The are awesome, super punctual and great guides for any level explorer.
It is a magical place because it shows you the panoramic view of Machupicchu. During the morning there are many tourists who make their marriage commitment at the door of the sun.
The best view! The feeling you feel is second to none. It is advisable to stay more than 30 min to enjoy the landscape it offers. Be careful along the way many reptile species are observed. Do not panic!
Visiting Machu Picchu and not being able to climb the Mountain or the Huainz Picchu, the one-hour walk to the Sun Gate is beautiful for the views it offers. Highly recommended.
Incredible views of Macchu Pichu. The gate itself is average, especially after walking around Macchu Pichu. From the trailhead the round trip took us 1 hour
If you go to Machu Picchu, and you are up for an hour hike into the mountain, it's worth visiting the sun gate for the views.
Luckily, we did not take the road, but walked for 11 hours through the jungle, ascending a myriad of steps, each one more different and larger, it seemed that we were never going to finish the infinite staircase.
Luckily they were not always steps, there were flat sections of rest to walk a good time, some natural sources to cool off sporadically and, very occasionally, a railing with good rope next to the steps that greatly helped their ascent.
I think we had been hiking for about 10 hours when my older brother and I, who were a little ahead of the rest, arrived at La Puerta del Sol. He was in the background, about 25 meters away, turning left. The few people who were there gave much importance to the door, but at first, apparently, it was not a big deal, until I was a meter or less, and when I turned it, all the view of the Inca city of Machu Picchu , Something awesome.
The gate itself is not impressive, but during a long walk you can enjoy views of Machu Picchu.
I walk long but it's worth it. She is taller than huaina picchu and you saw her this is amazing
Moderate to difficult hike but definitely worth it.
It was raining when we made it to the sun gate so we didn t get any pictures and we couldn t see Machu Picchu due to the clouds. We waited 20 minutes for the weather to clear , it didn t so we dawned our ponchos and pressed on.
From Intipunku you can see the new wonder of the world that is Machu Picchu.
It can be reached after an hour's walk from Machu Picchu, and it's absolutely worth it. Beautiful landscape.
It is the time well spend to walk to sungate. Without guide. If you know the history it is incredable.
It was cool because I was there when the sun came up but too many people
After a long and sometimes hard walk, a last, steep challenge brings you to the Inti Punktu, the Sun Gate. From this point the visitor is rewarded with the first view on the magnificent site of Machu Picchu, and from here on it's a "gentle" descend towards the site.
A beautiful place at 615am!! Up at 330am to get in line for the 45min RUN up the trail to the Sun Gate!!
For me, the Sun Gate was the highlight of Macchu Pichu!
The walk from Macchu Pichu takes about an hour and isn't easy but taking it slowly, you should be fine.
Once you get to the top, you get a really nice view of Macchu Pichu and the mountains that surround it.
Much easier than climbing Macchu Pichu Mountain.
Well worth the hike. The view is very rewarding and helps to illustrate how steep the terrain is with views of the approach road and the surrounding mountains
Beautiful prize for those who arrive after trekking
Spectacular, not suitable for people who suffer from vertigo
Sun gate is a nice hike up to the "original" entrance to Machu Picchu. It is about 1.2 miles and has an elevation gain of about 950 feet. It requires a second 1/2 day pass because the hike will take a couple hours. Insider tip , no one will kick you out of the area if you only have one pass. Their control system is biological (no restrooms inside the park, just outside the entrance gate). I do recommend the hike. We did buy 2 passes, so we could support the community.
