Well what is there to be said ? It's paradise without exaggerating. Worst thing is that you have to leave at one point

Great location, very friendly staff. Housekeeping comes by twice in the water bungalow. Food in the restaurants is of good quality and very tasty. Rays small sharks and other fish swim along your terrace.

We stayed 10 days, we had our honeymoon here and we would come back here again. It was fantastic!
Delicious and varied food.
Everything was very neat. Rooms are cleaned twice a day. Extremely friendly and courteous staff. Buggie service. Air-conditioned rooms.
Bungalows are all right on the beach. Except the Sunvilla.
Very large hotel complex but you are alone on the beach most of the time because the island is very large. It is distributed very well.
The ocean is clean and you can snorkel great. Great underwater world. The color of the water is incredibly beautiful!
A lot of freetime activities. Water sports, excursions, tennis court, squash, table tennis, billiards.
Daily evening program in the main bar.
There is a spa. Honeymooners get a 40% discount in the spa. Very great treatment. Very relaxing.
Excursions and eating in other restaurants is very expensive. Alcohol is also extremely expensive.

Super Hotel. Extra calm. Very good and varied food!

Good place, perfect for a happy relax time, they have a kids buffet also ... very good staff, they are very polite and always full of smiles, the view from.the room is like heaven on earth..

No word so much I am amazed, splendid, nice, a dream, .the stilts are charming, lots of spaces, clean, room made 2 x a day.

Very beautiful island. Spent 1 night at beach cottage & 2 nights at water villas. It's a beautiful property. Has so many activities on island and they arrange water activities easily. Has nice bar and alcohol is not that expensive. Default restaurant for Water Villa has bad service but default restaurant for Beach Villa is awesome. Their Araamu Spa is fantastic and the masseuse are expert. 2 things disappointed, no corals near the property and restaurant service slow and non-personal. That's it otherwise the rooms, property and activities are awesome. Must visit.

I just loved this place..Explored beach side, diving, professional photography, sting gray and shark feeding, beach villa, water villa's etc etc..I have been here for 5 days and I had a wonderful experience.

Amazing resort in one big maldivian island. You have plenty of activities. Snorkeling is a must. Try to book the new rooms like, Sunset, Sun or Garden bungalows.

Everything was good except for the connecting flights arranged by the resort, they will ask you to check out early morning if your flight is at 15:00 hours.

We lived on a neighboring island, rode here every other day! A very large island by Maldivian standards, it is better to rent a bike right away.
Beautiful area, I especially want to notice the pool, water villas! Tasty restaurants at reasonable prices, again by Maldivian standards)

Beautiful nature, amazing location ....where they lack - poor customer service, especially at the main restaurant. I did not feel welcome and it seems that other people have similar experience. Rooms need a bit of updating! Good diving, well it is Maldives. Work on customer service and update the place, will be awesome, but sorry 3 stars ( 5 for location and 2 stars for the service :( ).

Very nice and calm place. Island is big enough and has so many activities.

Food was average, they are mostly so much spicy, especially curry-based. But you can order custom food, something you like. But overall you can find too many different dishes.

Staff was very helpful and kind

Although organized, it's impersonal. Food was plentiful, but it was not quality. The facilities are not well maintained and the cleaning could be improved. Maybe it's a good place for families with children.

Stayed here for one week. This resort deserve visiting only if you choose water Bungalow or superior Bungalow don't hide in the middle rooms. Prices of water sport are little high e.g 30 min Jet ski for $60. Gust restaurant is really huge and it has two sections and same food. Tasty food most of the time and some times their food is awful especially Chinese food . I recommend people who look for nice place for holiday and acceptable prices to visit this resort. Thank you.

The resort is in need of a beautiful renovation ... Not at the height of a five-star hotel ... the bathtub with the plastic curtain cannot be seen at all !! The trunk hair dryer is also not !!! Otherwise the island is very green with truly incredible contrasting colors.

The food was very good for my taste. Everything was freshly prepared. Much of the fruit and vegetables come from the island's own garden.

A wonderful place to relax the ocean is even more beautiful than the pictures of food excellent huge selection. All the time we had one waiter who we also learned the basics of Slovak ... All the time we were called Prawen. Ask him as a personal waiter and you will be great satisfied !! We RECOMMENDED !!!

Beautiful well-groomed area. I came across a room with an old renovation, but everything is clean. Like. There is a lot of shade near the room on the ocean side due to the sweeping trees and palms. The restaurant has no frills, no delicacies, but there is a lot of everything and everything is delicious. Excellent coffee. Give out a mask if you forgot.

Of the minuses, the settlement was detained.

Well, all in all, Maldives. Everything is super. Outdoor shower, open under palm trees. Who has never been, I recommend a hotel for the first acquaintance with the Maldives, quite for my budget, but not like in hotels with a smaller scale, privacy is not enough, but there is other money.

Overall good. We had all inclusive, it was so little variety for the water villa all inclusive ones. When we were at the beach bunglow, the restaurant there was much better (Maaniya restaurant)

I recommend not to get crazy about water villas, the beach bunglows are 100 times better. Beach buglows get too humid, and water isnt that welcomming.

Overall island is good. Service is good. But whenever we had a complaint, for example our bungalow was not even close to the beach, it was quite far away.

Spent 8 days with his wife and 15-month-old boy to relax and fully enjoy the family days .... the water is crystal clear from morning to evening, thus being able to see even the small innocent sharks and some colorful fish on the shore ... The fascinating sunset as seen in the postcard ... the buffet restaurant is international in order to satisfy every type of person from every place in the world, thanks to THOMAS the waiter who took care of our table number 65 for the whole holiday, with passion and dedication of his work, I would call it IMPECCABLE, PRECISE, ATTENTIVE TO THE SMALLEST DETAILS, RARE PERSON!

Unique place Maldives and a special place ...
Sun Island is a place suitable for adults and children .... eat great x all tastes .... activities and sports for all needs ..... my 5 year old son has been very well with both food and also with animation and staff, maybe one day I'll come back

The staff at the airport representing the hotel itself was very rude.
Left half of the group and went away. Did not instruct anything.
The whole chain including paradise hotel and this sun island and others is a must avoid due to bad behaviour and non punctuality of stuff.

Large beatiful island offering a different and exciting holiday

Simply espectacular! Tasty traditional food, kind service, outstanding nature, a paradise on earth. We have tried the beach bungaloo and the water villa, both had what we were looking for in a simple way

Lovely place, clean, well maintained, friendly staff present everywhere. Good cuisine, international food served as a buffet. Always a vegetarian alternative, something freshly cooked and something Indian. Indescribably beautiful sea and beach. Wide choice of activities and excursions. Convenient the transfer, even if we waited a long time for the charter.
Cons: outside of the meals included in the rate, EVERYTHING is paid, even a glass of water.

A large island by the standards of the Maldives, a lot of vacationers, not quite a classic scheme for me, but this has its own charm.

It was just fantastic for us. But you should book all inclusive, otherwise they cost drinks more quickly than the whole holiday. And of course, all the animals here are slightly larger than ours: ants, spiders etc.

Sun Island is a very beautiful place! Cleanliness and Scenic beauty are it's top positives. However the place fails when it comes to services. It's chaotic coordination. Very delayed when it comes to delivering services. No coordination between departments. Reception is completely lost when it comes to check in check out. We could not perform any activities like scuba snorkelling since there was so much confusion with the reception desk. The buggy system is so delayed. Communication is a big lack. No call backs on request.
Was there for my birthday but it was quite a disappointment. The cake at the hotel room ended up having ants on it!

We spent a very relaxed and, above all, relaxing holiday there. The staff is very fond of children. In the event of problems, remedial measures were quickly found.

Super great, idyllic pure, clean sea, extremely rich in fish, also turtles and rays to see the snorkeling, always clean room, nice staff, food was ok. Although huge area, but you only see the food, how many guests there.

A magical experience i would recommend every married couple to experience once in their lifetime.

Bookings:
4 days 3 nights starting 26th October was what we opted for - 2 nights in a Beach villa & 1 night in a water bungalow.
Since this is our 1st experience of Maldives, i would not be in a position to compare this to any other resorts. Sun Island, also the most economical among the we had 3 shortlisted, turned out to be the only available option for our dates, which we gladly lapped up.
One glitch with the bookings was that we ended up getting the beach villa instead of the sun villa (which was what was offered to us). Upon inquiring, I was told the request was made for beach villa only & that beach villa is superior to Sun villa considering the price point & views - and yes, the sun villa was inside the island with garden views, so we were fine with this.

Resort:
Stunning views of the ocean. A well constructed island with
Good amount of Exclusivity.. Despite the resort having 98% occupancy, the resort never looked crowded.
The island was quite big, which was brilliant for sightseeing - lot of photo ops. But that also meant a lot of walking!
We didn't opt for the 5$ per day bicycle renting & preferred walking it out or wait for the buggy for a drop.
Lots of activities - so you're never bored. But with the limited days, there is not much we managed to cover.

Rooms:
Both the beach villa & water bungalows were well maintained & had very beautiful views of the beach/ocean - we got the sunset views for both, however, with the rains playing spoil sport, we didn't manage to catch the sunset during our entire stay thanks to the dark cloud cover.

Staff:
Extremely friendly & cordial staff. Especially the table attendants.
Room service was impeccable too.

Food:
Buffet breakfast/lunch/dinner at the main restaurant was good. Although with the strict early buffet timings, it generally turned out to be a rush to get to the restaurant.

Travel:
Keep in mind, there's a domestic flight travel to consider - Almost a day each way to be considered for your travel.
Unlike a few resorts which can be accessible by a speed boat alone, Sun Island offers you a domestic+speed boat transfer.
The only upside of this is that the domestic flight gives you good views of the stunning atolls from up above.

Weather:
On the flip-side, the weather was notoriously bad! Every evening dark clouds hovered over the island at around 5pm & the heavens started to open up by 6.. ranging from a mere pitter patter to a downpour! A big letdown. Missed out on the watersports thanks to the unkind weather.
Unseasonal rains is what the resort staff stated.

Apart from the beautiful/swimmable sea around, there is a swimming pool for couples who wanted to be alone in the crowd. There is also a less utilised kids Swimming pool near the main pool. Along with the main restaurant there are five other restaurants also a coffee shop. The six bar carter the needs wherever you go in the island.

Wonderful hotel.
The main thing is to choose a good place for the bungalow. My daughter and I lived on the beach bungalow. The best rooms are from 120 and above. At first they gave us 290. It was much worse there. The next day we were transferred to 120. The beach and panorama are better here. We had a wonderful vacation. The staff are very polite and attentive. Great team

We came to Sun resort and stayed for 3 weeks during October 2020. We dived most of the days and absolutely loved it. A big shout out to Midhoo, Shahid and Latif who made me always feel incredibly safe and were loads of fun. The only thing which could have improved the diving was having faster boats and maybe separating the experienced divers from inexperienced.

If you go there you really have so many activities, the rooms are perfect, we loved our beach bungalow which was cleaned twice to perfection per day.

We spent quite a time at the coffee and main bar and Karthick, Anis, Anil, Alim and Tara Singh made us always feel so welcome and were just great people!

This place is just marvelous and you can see it by the thousands of pictures uploaded by the thousands of guests who spent their lovely holidays here. But Let s be a bit practical. Sun Island is an holiday village very well organized. It has everything and when I say everything I mean it! Cheap/expensive, silence/noise (nature), beach/jungle, sport/relax.
Check in is easy. As soon as you book, the Sun Island personnel send you an email with all the instructions, because you have to take another flight (30 minutes) to get there (flight costs about 250$ round trip). Check out is well organized, the day before your leaving you receive all the info you need to leave in accordance with your flight back home.
No need to carry cash with you. All payments are made through you room s number and the last day but one you pay the bill.
The island is long (about 3 km) and narrow, pretty much everything is located in the center and out of the water villas, the bungalows are all around, meaning that...if you get a bungalow close to the extremities, you ll have to walk about 1 km every time you ll have to eat, or go to the reception to book an excursion or just whatever. But, as I said, they are very well organized, so bicycles are available for rental at the cost of 6$ per day.
The north side is always windy and the water is a bit deeper than the south one, which is calm (super hot) and the water is kids friendly (not deep), plus, close to the water villas, it s plenty of fishes and small sharks you can dive with. Every day at 6,30 pm there are two separate events, the shark and the stingray feeding, when the fishes come in 2 specific spots to get food and you can take some nice picture as well.
Another thing to know is that with the all inclusive/full board formula you will be assigned to only one restaurant, even if in the island there are 5 or 6 restaurants. Don t worry, if you will choose the only breakfast formula, the prices in all the the restaurants are made to let you choose the full board/all inclusive, but I would recommend the only breakfast formula because at the end the price will be the same but at least you can change menu, avoiding to get some fat, since the full board/all inclusive are all you can eat !
Inside the village there is a gym, a volleyball indoor and outdoor (beach) courts, and many other activities like table tennis, mini golf, basketball, pool and for your kids there is a big swimming pool with a bar inside of it (very cool) and of course, video games.
So, bring your tennis shoes, besides the gym there is a paved road (it s an inner circle) where you can jog early in the morning.
There are a couple of shops and even a jewelry but do not forget your snorkeling gear, otherwise it will cost you more than a diamond (81$ for a mask with mouthpiece and 31$ only mask).
Everything out the sun, the beach and the sea, has a cost (I m talking about excursion like snorkeling, fishing and stuff like that, price listing as per the posted picture) and water sports costs a lot (double zeros).
I left my stay at the end to be the more impartial, since I ve been in the water villa, with all the comforts. That was a good one. We only had a couple of minor problems with ants in the room and the toilet pipe blocked, but the service was quickly efficient to solve it. The water villa is Very quiet, private stair to the sea, private terrace and the restaurant assigned for water villas guests (which is different from the other one assigned to the remaining guests) is very good, with a big variety of food. The menu change every day, there is always a special dish from some Country all over the world and you will always find fish, meat, salads, local, fresh fruit, sweets all goods. Great value to the restaurant is given by the cooks in the picture, not just because the delicious food they cook at the moment (grill, pasta, pancakes, fish, meat..) but because their cheerful and kind nature, 5 stars to them!
At the end, I would definitely recommend this place, both if you re a couple or a family with kids.

Big Island. Many different restaurants. Where there is a walk. Clean, good nature. Good gym, sauna. For 2 weeks, do not get bored.

As every time for 10 years, it's excellent and look forward to coming back soon. A big thank you to the entire team of internal transport who were very available to transfer us between the restaurant, room and sports club, especially SHAHINE MAIH, MOURAD and MANANN.
