Overnight in a water bungalow ... beautiful larger island. 1.6 km long. Bike can be borrowed. M.e. after free. In the rainy season many mosquitoes. Very unpleasant if you are popular with the mosquitoes .... there is actually everything on the island. Water bungalow is located on the jetty about 300 meters from the reception. Will be driven with the buggy. Nice facilities but no walk-in shower in the bathroom. Also no outside shower. Hm. Negative. Reef and fish world pretty broken. Shark feeding and ray feeding in the evening. Large copies here. Worth seeing. Very expensive everything. Visited by Asians, Malaysians, Europeans and Russians. In conclusion, you can go on holiday but not if you like snorkeling and see the coral. Oh, and food is okay. Buffet. Always same places. Two nice restaurants but with costs.

We stayed here for 5 nights in addition to a tour of Sri Lanka for our honeymoon.

I put 4 stars because it will be fondly remembered.

- The whole island is very pretty, superbly well maintained. The leaves are collected every day for example.
- the beach bungalow rooms are beautiful and fairly well furnished.
- friendly and helpful staff.
- the meals were always very good, with a lot of choice, even a full area for vegetarians, and that's good.
- nice, clean, large swimming pool that even fits small children.
- complete sports equipment (gym, cardio, badminton, squash, Ping Ping, billiards, mini golf, etc.)
- wifi was present in the room, at the swimming pool, and at the reception. But the flow was very slow. (We're at the end of the world, so that's largely understandable)
- We also appreciated the times when the rays and sharks are fed. Very impressive.

But I still have a few comments (which makes this hotel not worth my 5 stars.)

- we were all inclusive, but honestly, i have known hotels where all inclusive was much more interesting. All cocktails were chargeable, only a few basics were included. No real snacking during the day ...
- The island is so big that bicycles are essential. I don't mind paying $ 5 per bike per day, but frankly the bikes are very old and poorly maintained. And besides very uncomfortable ... It would be time to buy newer ones.
- The restaurant is very big and it is quite unsettling. It can get very crowded during rush hour. Places are allocated for the duration of the stay.
- the other specialized restaurants are paying. This is absurd ...
- almost every evening, they have themed evenings, and these evenings are chargeable. Between $ 60 and $ 90 per person we saw. Shameful...

The negative points are all the same very quickly forgotten, because the place is sublime.

Most disastrous trip. From the time you land.. the staff of Sun Island have been most arrogant n not willing to help. Not ready to listen also. They are most happy chit chatting in their groups.
V landed.. n were told to contact their desk. asked for them. They point blank told us v hv no booking . On showing them the confirmation for our domestic flights n resort bookings. They decided to look otherwise. Our domestic flight as per our agents 9am. Hence we flew whole night. V were told we have a 2pm flight. Again the documents/ tickets shown. Finally confirmed that v can take the 11am flt. Airline counter... we were told v hv no booking or the travel agent had not confirmed. Some more phone calls...later finally boarded. Agony not yet over.... land. Took a bus from domestic airport to the sea port. Once again the Sun island staff... the lady was so rude n arrogant... having stood first in line... I was once again told our names did not figure in the list.. told her to turn pages n check.. showed her our confirmation.. we were last to board.. only bcos she checked in the third sheet.
V land on the island... all passengers were made to sit n do self checkin (really) fill forms n then their representative would sit with each family n explain the maps rooms etc.. when almost all of them dn... v as Indians n another German couple kept sitting... until I had to blast these guys...who merrily standing n chatting away without checking us in or allowing rooms.
The staff is most rude n arrogant.
Pls carry your own shampoos n conditioner.
They have bath gels only. Nothing is mentioned on the containers.. keep guessing.
The place is very expensive n u have to pay in USD only.

The property is very beautiful. Greenery n clean white beaches. One can see baby sharks around yr private beaches as you stroll around. They have water sports n indoor games.
No alcohol or pets allowed on that island. Though the bar does sell alcohol.
Snorkeling..whale sharks/ turtles etc.
U can see sharks / manta ray fish being fed

Food is great. Indian/arabic/french. Great buffets.
Better to take their half board packages.

They have great spa. Experienced staff for Ayurvedic massages.

The best PR/ambassadors for this resort... are the buggy drivers, the gardners, waiters, chefs n the guys who take you snorkeling. Most polite/smiling n they kept checking on you to find how yr trip holidays are going. Rest none cud be bothered.

Last note... if you cant walk too much, make sure you take a room close to the main activity hut.

Getting there:

Getting there:
- With Lufthansa (the only airline without a stopover)
- There are meals and snacks, as well as sufficient drinks
- It is advantageous to reserve a seat in advance

Arrival times:
- Receipt of the visa (30 days). On the plane you already get a slip of paper that you have to fill out. The passport and slip of paper are scanned at the airport.
- After the baggage claim you have to go to zone B. This can be found directly after the baggage claim near the exit.
- Anyone who flies on to the neighboring island of Sun Island by passenger plane will be brought to the check-in. It can happen that you fly straight on or that you have to wait several hours. E.g. due to a technical defect. Therefore, one should supply oneself with drinks and, if necessary, with food beforehand. Then you have to cross over another 10 minutes by boat to Sun Island.
- Dad's water boat is on the way for at least 2.5 hours.
- The seaplane flies directly to the island.

Arrival Sun Island:
- A welcome drink and damp towels are served.
- You have to fill out a slip of paper with all the data yourself.
- It is an advantage if you can demonstrate knowledge of English, otherwise communication will be difficult.
- We were asked whether we would stay one night in a standard bungalow (a superior beach bungalow was booked) and we were allowed to choose our superior beach bungalow location ourselves, as well as book a dolphine or fishing tour free of charge (price around US $ 40 ). Presumably, the little booked tours should be filled with it. The advantage is that you can roughly choose the location of your bungalow. One should then also insist on it.
- You are driven to the bungalow in a club car.

General:
- Bicycles can be rented for a fee of US $ 3 per day
- Take US $ 1 and US $ 5 for tips
- Otherwise no cash is required on the island. Upon arrival you will receive a card with the number of the bungalow. This can be used to 'pay' anywhere.
- The island and the beach or the sea are very clean
- Don't forget the adapter for the socket. Sometimes there are already some in the room.
- Don't forget your goggles and fins. Simple diving goggles cost a minimum of US $ 60.
- There is a small shop on the island that mainly sells souvenirs, but also a few cookies or suntan lotion. All pretty expensive because of the long delivery.
- When you visit the MainRestaurant for the first time, you are assigned a table, which you usually keep for your entire stay. Possibly. you can also ask for another table if you don't like the one assigned.
- Attention! As a rule, the prices shown do not include VAT.
- There is no strict evening wear in the MainRestaurante. Flip flops and shorts are allowed. The temperatures hardly drop even at night, so you can almost save yourself long clothes.

Catering:
- All inclusive costs US $ 70 per person per day. Can be booked at any time. However, many things are not included here either! One should think carefully.
- Full board costs US $ 25 per person per day. Can be booked at any time. Again, only lunch including water is included.
- Half board includes breakfast and dinner. Here, too, water is served with meals.
- Coffee, tea and juices are freely available to all guests for breakfast
- All u Can Drink costs US $ 40 per person per day
- Drink package for HB 12 US $ and FB 15 US $ per day and person. Here you can get soft drinks, wine, beer and juice with meals. It's best to ask his Kellnet about it.

Comparatively large island with many accommodations. The entire resort is currently being gradually renovated, as many things are getting on in years. The accommodations are ok. Not a luxury, but not shabby either. The beach is huge and 70% beautiful and you can go around almost the entire island. The sea is clean and has a great color. Swimming is possible without shoes. Diving around the island is not worthwhile. Rather plan a trip here.
The food is okay, as is the selection. Unfortunately, not much seafood. The drinks are okay too, but it's best to tip the bartender and not mix the standard syrup things.
The personnel is very friendly and courteous.
The biggest shortcoming are the guests. Unfortunately there are a lot of uncouth Russians in large groups on the island and they are mobbing.
In addition, extremely many babies and toddlers. At some point it was not possible to eat without a crying baby.
Well, in summary, it's perfectly acceptable for the price.

We were on Sun Island for 12 days ... everything went well. Bungalow was great and right on the sea under palm trees with enough . Lying directly on the bungalow and also directly on the beach.

We had the beach to ourselves almost every day.

We only saw the other islanders to eat .

Our room was always clean, unfortunately the room boy was not the friendliest, but he was happy to take the dollars. Anyway, the main thing is that it was clean.

We liked the resort. We didn't need a bike, everything could be done. 10 minutes to the Beachy Bar.

It's a shame that the theme restaurants were really very expensive. Not used, as we had all inclusive and were very happy about it.

The all inclusive drinks menu was sufficient for us. Passion drop was my favorite. We weren't on the island to drink.

The food could have been more varied. We missed fish, shrimps and other sea creatures. We weren't ready for the beach barbecue $ 100 per person + drinks.

The salad that is grown on the island was always super fresh. But you always found something to eat. Nobody has to starve.

We found spa too expensive.

Beach is great. Rays and sharks swam right past us every day. The dive with Bojan was awesome ... turtles, moraines,
colorful fish. Everything perfect. Took great care of my husband. Get great pictures. Price absolutely ok.

The very best service was in the main restaurant ... our waiter Ali was a great host. Very attentive, he can mix without obtrusiveness and cyclists, a dream ...

Thanks again dear Ali for the great birthday table and your always good mood. That was great.
Greetings from your lobster (because I was so sunburned on the 2nd day). We laughed well together.

Everything was great at the bars too. Sometimes the order came twice, but it worked. We also had a picture drawn. Really great.

Our conclusion: an all-round successful holiday with super friendly hosts.

Here we spent our first vacation in the Maldives. We stayed in the water bungalow N.r. 339, which is very beautiful and bright. The luxury of having your own access to the Indian Ocean is well worth the price. You also take the food in a restaurant with a sea view. The food is very fresh and tasty, as well as varied. If you are bored it is your own fault, besides scuba diving, snorkeling and swimming, you can also play badminton and tennis. But of course you can relax and just be lazy. We did both and have until then experienced our best holiday.

Great

Unique experience, there are no words to describe its beauty, judged by the photos, travel September 2019, we can't wait to return ... hopefully soon ... always in our thoughts, the Maldives will kidnap you

Everything here works like clockwork. The staff is very, very friendly and positive. The food is modest, but you won t be hungry. (In the Maldives you don t have much food .... islands .... Stress with food) The staff reacts slightly to surprise with tips .I gave the waiter 40 rufiyes on the first day, so he didn t leave us for a week (he was annoying) The type of food HB is enough (heat. I don t really want to eat during the day) In the bars, there are $ 8-12 cocktails. 5-6 cocktails per day is still an order of magnitude cheaper than ol inclusive .... and for the money cocktails are of better quality.
But in general, a great hotel ..... if not for the prices (the island, after all), they would have returned.

Nice!

Fantastic place... picturesque... and... expensive. Water is 2.5$ for a litre and 375ml beer is 7$. Facilities are great... staff are good... activities are expensive but worth the one time spending.

The place is fantastic, attentive staff and very sociable, clean rooms, super plentiful food and with a vast choice the only one in is the little alcohol in the cocktails, but it is certainly not the end of the world. For the rest we are in the maldives wonderful colors always warm water deep beaches and white fish in great abundance. You must come

The wonderful landscape, the water of an unrivaled beauty, good accommodation conditions, you can spend time with various activities, sports and fun, good food, cooperative staff, cycling or golfing, etc.

Awesome service , i booked it for 3 night and 4 days all water banglow with half board means break fast and dinner which cost me 100000 rs inr . it is better to book by your self instead of booking from any traveler as i had very bad experience with Thomas Cook. but fo the refrence you can book ur travel from AKQUA SUN HOLIDAYS INDIA PVT LTD, it is a srilankan company

A relaxing holiday place. Well maintained and clean rooms. Great indoor sport facilities. Many restaurants with a variety of cuisines and desserts. I found the water sport activites over priced. The water villas seemed over hyped. The beach is great and the water is still and shallow. Great for kids. Awesome swimming pool with a mini bar too. The staff is very helpful and courteous. Overall a great holiday!

Good place to unwind and relax. Temperature is around 25 - 30. Drinks are a little pricy. Main restaurant food is good . Lot of variety for both Indian and western food. There food section dedicate for indian cusine. Scuba diving is a must . Thai restaurant near the water villa has a good view and good food as well .

The island is fabulous and the rooms have beautiful ocean views.
The island is full of more beautiful flowers.
The programs organized by the hotel provide life-long experiences.
You can swim with witchfish, mantara, and bottlenose dolphins.

To avoid, the all inclusive is a joke!

To avoid, the all inclusive is a joke!
We had left for a dream week and were expecting a hotel at the height of this beautiful lagoon.

The first thing to know is that the All Inclusive is a real joke, you are going to eat in a restaurant that looks like a tourist factory, and you must always eat in the same place, that's the first surprise!
If you just want to change the restaurant, well it pays. No specialized site informs you of this thing!

Then there is the room, very nice because unlike other people it had to be newer. By cons the problem is that it is almost 900 meters from the famous canteen or bar for all inclusive. So suddenly he offers you to rent a bike $ 6 a day ... It's crazy for a hotel sold 5 stars!

I do not recommend this hotel where everything requires money, where the welcome and service are to review, where the benefits are quite low-end.

So the price / quality ratio is not there.
Maldives yes but not in this hotel !!!

And if you persist in planning a sum of money at the end of the stay, between $ 500 and $ 1000 per person for entertainment and change from time to time restaurant.

Had an awesome experience here.. Its one of the biggest islands in the Maldives and is good stay for 3-4 days to cover all the corners in the resort. Newly renovated Sunset Villa and Water Villa were amazing, indian food in the dinner menu was very good. Would definitely love to visit here again!!

It was my honeymoon and I found it super cool place. The staff is too good, services are overwhelmed.
I would suggest you to must take water villas, it's little expensive from Normal ones but it's really worthy. Or you can divide your days between water villa and the normal one.
Please plan atleast for a week. So that you can enjoy all the water and other sports. Which I have missed because of less time. Also they have so many indoor events, which is also cool.
Must take bicycle and the services of spa(couple service would be a better option).
Also you can take package for the adventure sport and hotel guys do also negotiate. Do if you have good negotiate skills, please do that.

Fantastic holidays..everything was perfect when we reached at the resort .The Male airport experience was really thumbs down..the person who was asked to meet us was not there..came there with grumpy face after calling the helpline.
The Flyme airlines had technical snag in their 2 aircraft's. Reached the hotel after midnight 1am instead of reaching at 6pm.

This is a really lovely resort on a most beautiful island. The staff were all so helpful and nothing was too much trouble The villa we stayed in was also really good + was kept immaculately clean. The food was awesome and was enjoyed by all of us immensely. We had great fun snorkeling. It was so good to see all the brightly coloured fish. What an experience!

How to get by plane to Male, there you will be met...

How to get by plane to Male, there you will be met by a person who gathers a group at Sun Island Resort. We were gathered in about 15-20 minutes. The person then leads the group to check-in at the domestic airlines lounge. Everything is fast there, too, the ATR-400 plane seems to be in flight for 30 minutes, and you are on a neighboring island from Sun Island. There you are met, your luggage is accepted (then you will receive it only at the hotel), and the bus is taken to the boat. The boat takes 10 minutes, and you are on the island with the whole group. There is no need to rush to the reception before others - when you come to the hall, there will be questionnaires and pens on all the tables. Then your guide sits down at each table, distributes the island cactus (1 * 1.5 km island) and explains where and what is located, it takes 15 minutes. At first everything seems complicated, but if you are not too lazy and the first evening before sunset (it gets light here at 6 and darkens at 6, in the morning and evening, respectively), devote to bypassing the island, then the next day you will be like a fish in water.
For food - four basic bases - healthy food, incl. gluten free, some Chinese, Indian and European food. For fish - white fish, some squid, tuna. For meat - there is no pork, it is forbidden to import, chicken, beef, good lamb. The selection of pasta is great. Vegetables in Chinese tradition. There are many fruits - avocado, mango, watermelon, melon, pineapple. The food is delicious, you can always find something new. Fruit shots, for example . There are original cheeses - for example, with cumin . Edam, maasdam, gorgonzola, camembert - generally okay.
In addition to the main one, there is also an Italian restaurant, there are also lobsters 140 usd per 1 kg, and a Thai one. For an amateur.
By the numbers - we have a bungalow on the beach. Highly recommend! There is a lot of shadow, it is not superfluous here. There are almost no people on the beach in front of the bungalow, everything is quiet and peaceful. The beach is cleaned every day with a rake at about 7 am.
On mosquitoes - they are here! Do not be lazy and take a repellent from home with you, the nights will be quieter.
Rooms are clean, cleaned daily. The sockets are not European, but at the reception at your request they will give as much as needed. There are only 3 sockets in the room, but the adapters are also tees. Should be enough for everything.
For entertainment - at the reception there are stands with programs for the coming days - festivals, discos, dances, aerobics, etc. Free ones are marked in yellow, paid ones - in red. The programs are varied, you will not get bored.
At 18.00, near the bungalow on the water shoy - feeding stingrays and a little further - sharks (they are small, 0.5 m, they are afraid of people, but they approach the shore near our bungalow in the western part for trifles three meters from the shore) .
Sports - I run every morning from 6.15 to 7. Run around the whole island - 5 km. I try to catch the sunrise, until I can't wake up by sunrise at 6 in the morning . There is a golf course, football, volleyball. Indoor badminton, tennis, squash, snooker, carom on the floor. Everything is free.
Bicycles - grandfather's, 6 usd per day. Many people use them to avoid walking around the island on foot, lazy people . For me, it's better to take a walk, although I myself really like cycling, at home the road bumper misses.
Swimming - the water is perfect, but the current is strong in places. The pool is not very big, with a bar . Cocktails are the most unpretentious on olincclusive. Beer - Budweiser, Carlsberg, Estrella, and some local. The wine is homemade, light.
There is also a botanical garden, where you can pick any herb for lunch in their own restaurant, and they will immediately cook it. Chickens lay eggs in the same place.
Fishing / snorkeling - there are no beautiful reefs around the island, you have to go by boat. Fishing is in the morning and in the evening, there are 5-7 excursions.
Overall, I rate this hotel as one of the best I have ever visited for the following reasons
1. The area is large;
2. The menu is good;
3. Many programs;
4. Sports are good;
5. The staff is very well educated, there are a couple of Russian-speaking girls.
Disadvantages:
1. It's a long way to get there, but you can't do anything;
2. Anything for the money is quite expensive here.
Overall I recommend. Enjoy your stay!

I loved it on Sun Island! The island is relatively large, so on the one hand offers a lot of variety and a good range of leisure activities, on the other hand many very lonely places on the white Maldivian beach. Anyway I would recommend a beach bungalow (best near the Sunset Bar, then the paths are not so far) or a water bungalow. Also the spa on Sun Island was sensational! Be sure to try the massage for 2, preferably when it's already dark - you feel like you're in paradise!

Very nice hotel, staff with little care, paradise island, nothing bad to say about this hotel everyone makes us feel good, the food is good only negative point that I find, the desserts .. The management of the hotel from Male airport is very well organized, the spa is beautiful in fact everything is beautiful ... I recommend the All Inclusive because it is expensive between meals and activities. Otherwise apart from that I do not see what to add except that it feels like heaven ...

We spent 7 nights on this beautiful island and had the time of our lives. The resort has wonderful and very well kept gardens, our beach villa was spacious and impecably cleaned every morning. We'd like to extend our gratitude to our waiter Ramiz and housekeeper Faruk. Both are very polite, attentive and made us feel like Sun Island was our home away from home. Check in and transfer were also a breeze and the whole front desk staff and buggy drivers are very nice people.
I loved to watch the stingray and shark feeding, every sunset was truly beautiful and I wish we had stayed longer.
I highly recommend Sun Island and would love to stay there again.

Beds were comfortable, WiFi good, room spacious and clean, bathtub inside bathroom and another beautiful partly open air shower with skyview. Beaches are fantastic, we had one right in front of our bungalow. Staff is very attentive and extremely helpful in making all sorts of arrangements, which is not easy in such a huge resort. The management handled our flight departure problem professionally and completely solved it.
At 6.30pm there's stingray and shark feeding. Stingray feeding at the entrance to the water bungalows, shark feeding at the restaurant of the water bungalows. Big nurse sharks can be seen. Quite an experience.
Snorkelling is fine, but not spectacular. Its advisable to book one of their many excursion offers.
Thanks to everyone. If God allows us, we'll surely come back.
