Beautiful island, sublime beach! The oceanfront bungalows are dated and the meals are not varied enough.

We came at this resort during 2 weeks this summer. It was the worst holliday. E-V-E-R !!!
Well... I am not sure how to begin. We have booked 2 weeks in the sunset villa. You need to be warned: there is LOT OF mosquitoes. The island is infested with mosquitoes despite ot the full chemical "treatement".
We've had a severe allergic reaction about the mosquitoes bites. Let's continue. The resort is very big and if you want to move with the "buggy" you will wait a looooooong time to go somewhere. Or you can rent a bicycle 5 PER day.
Let's move on, the food is bad, poor quality. The only good thing is the fresh fruit, (by the way, the guy at the fruit stand is such a great guy, thanks to him).
The staff is mostly unpleasant (except for rare personn, thanks to Jebba (housekeeper), Haffsa (the moroccan girl at the main restaurant) and the guy at the reception who bring us some dattes). One of the staff has asked 3 times what is the religion of my husband.
They have charged us 30$ a chocolate sauce for an ice cream !!! Even at the Ritz in Paris (and we've already been there to eat) they don't charge you like this, and to be clear this resort is not the Ritz :p
We got sick because of the air conditionning (imagine, sick during the mousson with the air and the rain sometimes,. Even when we back to home we've make very long time to feel better).
So we've had to cancelled the most excursion we've booked. Only one day, when we feel a little bit better, we decided to do the "3 site excursion" (because it's the Maldives you should see the manta ray or the whale shark ). No organisation, no towel at the begining during a rainy day, we have to insist to get some towels, the staff is not really here if you had a problem under water. worst experience.
One of the staff at the spa is totally unprofessionnal (the therapist will recognize herself, ).
And our waiter, Mihad, was TOTALLY unpleasant, unprofessionnal, uncomfortable, etc... At this day we didn't know why such an attitude ? And this is not about the tips because we gave a lot of tips to everyone.

Anyway, you give a bad idea/picture of the Maldives. The landscape is such a beautiful, idyllic spot, but let's to be clear you have no credit for that, you don't have create this landscape.
And unfortunately even the paradisiac spot can't correct a very bad experience.
We've had already share this unpleasant experience to the management and the answer was not the reality but let's move on, we will never go back there :).

This is truly a paradise island with beautiful alleys for walking, a snow-white beach and the azure ocean. The hotel is partially renovated. Awesome white beaches with lots of crabs, warmest ocean with corals, sharks, stingrays, and lots of fish, we even saw a turtle!. The hotel has several food systems, only breakfast, full board and all inclusive. Also, there are five different restaurants: Italian, barbecue grill, Thai, organic products and (I do not remember)Zero - which is located in the thickets (one table is located on the tree!) where all dishes are from the garden behind this place, and other... The main restaurant offers breakfasts (for all guests) lunch and dinners (for full board and all inclusive). About the main restaurant: a fine selection of meat and vegetarian dishes, as well as a great salad and dessert bar. I would like to thank our waiter Afeef for the excellent service, pancake master Sujeewa for always delicious and tender pancakes for breakfast, as well as cooks S.Islam and Majeed. There is amazing SPA on the island, we took massage for couples, huge thanks to girls from the Spa, wonderful Ari from Bali and Anusmitha for massage. A lot of thanks to sweet Juna from House Keeping Unit 2 for saving us from the rain and found an umbrella for us, as well as all the guys from House Keeping Unit 4 for the always clean and tidy room. As well as all employees of the reception, gardeners, pizza maker from the Italian restaurant and the guys that meet and see off the guests.
Thank very much it was amazing!

Beautiful island, with wonderful beaches, delicious food, very friendly staff and great leisure opportunities. On the house reef you have the chance to see different species of rays, sharks and turtles, we have also often seen dolphins.
We had a superior beach bungalow, which was simply furnished but completely ok for us, we had everything we needed and there was an outdoor shower. It was a fantastic vacation and we can only warmly recommend this island.

Good rooms, green island, very friendly and helpful staff, and a beautiful reef at the island for snorkeling.

Hotel 5 stars. But I estimate at three and a half. Oceanfront homes neat, clean but quite old. Mattresses very uncomfortable - terribly hard. Food is delicious. Now is the end of October and the second day of my stay here, the weather is bad. The whole first and second day the sky is overcast. I saw the sun for a short moment. It blows strongly and sometimes it rains a little. Beautiful beach and great water with all its inhabitants compensate for any inconvenience :)

Kid-friendly facility, vegetables are freshly grown there, rather geared towards masses

Overall a good resort for a 4 star property. We had son issues on our check-in which was very poorly handled by the staff bit were very attentive otherwise although it is definitely not what you would get in a good 5 star resort. The rooms were exceptionally clean, we stayed in the sunset villas. The pool area was also immaculate and a great pool for families. We stayed all-inclusive, the food was of an average standard, unfortunately the cocktails on the all inclusive list we really poor. You donhowever get 50% off the other cocktails if you are all inclusive. The island itself is big and very well maintained indeed. Overall given that it is a 4 star I would give it 4 out of 5 and you get what you pay for.

Sun Island Resort will be among large resorts in the Maldives. It has paved ring road which goes around in the island. Electric golf buggy transports luggage and customers. It has few restaurants and coffee shops in the island. It also has spa facilities and indoor & outdoor sports facilities. The Zero restaurant is an excellent choice to experience local produce.

(October 2014) Simply a paradise. An oasis of peace surrounded by an indescribable sea. Beautiful beaches. Magical sunsets! Great resort ... well maintained and very clean. Good cooking.

We stayed 3 nights at sunset oriented water bungalow and were able to spot baby sharks and mantas in the surrounding lagoon, which was great experience. Also, the sharks and mantas feeding taking place every evening was absolutely stunning. The whole island is lovely pristine blue water, sand bank, great beaches (especially on the eastern part where you can find enough sun beds) and huge pool with great views. Sun Island Resort also offers spa, gym, various restaurants, tourist shop or various activities such as yoga, pool party, water sports. There is also a great snorkelling spot located close to the Italian restaurant I saw sharks, turtle, mantas, octopuses and various kinds of fish there. An inner part of the island is full of lush vegetation and palms. Hotel staff were friendly, polite and professional with the only exception of our waiter in the restaurant who was ostentatiously ignoring us because we weren t ordering expensive alcoholic beverages. However, we had a full board and food was fine with good choice of international, Asian and local meals.

Beautiful island, beautiful colors of the sea and fish, great service. The ideal place for your relaxation

Beautiful resort. But if you going to celebrate your honeymoon it probably is not best choice for you. Hotel specializes on group and family s. The children are everywhere: beach, pool, restaurants... If money is the determining factor for you then you can have very good deal with hotel. Don t forget you will need fly from Male airport to Maamigili airport. Take a short time drive and speed boat.

Beautiful but the food was really super bad. Wifi was very slow. Take a beach villa instead of water bungalow. They were not worth the money.

Sunny island beautiful place with a lot of water attractions water scooters kayaks sailboats flyboard, etc. there is really a lot to do here beautiful beaches around the island the island is fully developed restaurants in the bosom of nature interesting place beautiful alleys for walking in the evening (beautifully lit) on the island you can ride a bike, which makes it easier to move around the island with water, no need to write beautiful clean and cipel with lots of animals from sharks to small fish an interesting attraction is the evening feeding of rays houses on the water large and pleasant (it is a pity that the water is so shallow at the houses about 60cm ) there is a lot to do here, time is running out of your fingers beautiful SPA places on the beach for a wedding ceremony something beautiful (I experienced it on my own skin and I recommend unforgettable and unforgettable impressions) the service is nice and smiling, the island is very clean and it is cleaned every day (early in the morning so no employees can be seen) there is peace and quiet, an ideal place to active holidays with children there are swimming pools animators karaoke billiards and many other attractions it is possible to buy snorkeling trips night diving fishing on the island there is a diving base very well equipped with professional service also offer free diving for beginners at the base where there are a lot of interesting fish.
Goes tasty everyone will find something for themselves with cool things is an example that they assign us one table where we always eat and one waiter serves us (with a large number of people we do not have to look for a table, we always have our own nice thing) I will also say that a 7-day stay is for a short period of time, it is suggested that there is a minimum of 10 days or more, and the time here passes quickly and you can relax or spend time actively. An ideal place for families with children, you will not be bored and parents will find something for themselves and moments of rest.

Excellent experience! Beautiful hotel, 100% recommended service, always attentive to the needs. The excellent and varied food, the waiters and cooks very attentive and predisposed. Of course the landscape is dreamed! No one spoke Spanish, so communication was a bit difficult. I would go back as many times as possible!

Like 6 days in paradise. Service, cleaning, food and nature everything were the best.

Just a fairy tale! The greatest holiday in my life!

The food was terrible and cold, the service was not nice, there were problems with allinclusiw the only thing that was good is that this hotel is on the island and that there is a lot of coral reef on the shore where there is a lot of colorful fish and sometimes there are rays.

Sooooo beautiful! The place is fabulous)) but there is one thing ... but the room we were settled in was a bit shabby ... but with an ocean view)))

Liked very much. The number is better to choose on the water. Not superfluous will be swimming sneakers (corals and other animal under the feet). The conditions for romance and solitude are perfect.

We tried both excursions and snorkeling and everything was absolutely fantastic.

The food is great, especially if you choose what the chefs in the dining room prepare.

The rooms are very fresh and there is everything you could possibly need!

Due to confusion between travel agency and resort they didn't provided me honeymoon benefits even after 7-8 visits to reception....They will never say NO but they will say we will give your benefits from tomorrow....at last I got tired and just left it...

We were on the island for 14 days in March 2019 in a sunset villa in the south of the island.
At that time there were 70% Russians, many English and Italians and very few Germans.
According to the description, the bungalows, wherever two are together, are of different sizes, but we could not find any difference. Only the showers, the terraces and the condition of the rooms are different.
According to other guests, the water bungalows and the standard bungalows are very shabby inside.
Our room was very clean on arrival, not a speck of dust anywhere, not even on the closet.
The island is very big and even has cobblestone streets where diesel vehicles are driven and pollute the air!
In the middle of the island the air is literally standing.
At 5 p.m., poison against the vermin is sprayed all over the island!
But you still get stung in the evening.
In the west of the island there is often a smell of sewage!

The most beautiful beach is in the south and on the eastern tip.
The food is very good, you can eat very varied in 14 days, but unfortunately not typically Maldivian.
The prices for the drinks are quite high and the quality of the cocktails is very poor.
There was only Asian beer, Anchor and now and then Carlsberg.
The music in the evening in the main bar was way too loud and since the DJ really turned up after 10 p.m., it was still so loud after midnight that you couldn't sleep even at the other end of the island. There were several complaints from various guests, but the party Russians were given preference.

I can only advise against the snorkeling tour with the whale sharks.
You are verbally guaranteed to see whale sharks and after booking you have to sign that it is lucky to see you. We were then on the boat the whole morning and then drove back and forth with over 15 other boats in front of the island, but we did not see any polling sharks.
In the water it was also very dangerous because of the many boats.
On a second excursion, a small whale shark was briefly seen by some guests on the boat. A lot of money burned for nothing.
Conclusion:
For us it is the Maldives' Ballermann, if you are looking for peace and a Robinson Crusoe feeling, this is totally wrong!

Perfect dream holiday. Super friendly staff on the whole island. Quiet and pure relaxation. Excellent service in all areas. The longing for this place is immeasurable. We would like to go there every year. Thanks to all island residents. You are fantastic.

The Maldives is a brilliant destination for a holiday. We haven't been to other resorts but expect any location you choose to be amazing, white sands and blue clear water. Sun Island resort is a budget resort for the Maldives and is about 20 years old. Good number of facilities (tennis, squash, mini golf, badminton, pool, snooker, etc, etc, there is something for everyone, or nothing but sun and sand if you want.
We had one of the superior beach bungalows on the north east side of the island, which are the furtherest from the beach compared to the other beach bungalows. Rooms are a bit tired, but good size and clean. Outside shower is great.
Food is okay for buffet, the only real complaint was from the kids and there was no chips/fries for every dinner.
The entertainment team was average compared to Carribean resorts, who are definitely much more energetic and a lot more events.
Overall the place and staff were good.

If you are from South East Asia, please don't go. The a majority of people working in these resort are from Bangladesh who are very biased towards people like us. When I said that I was from Canada, they were questioning how can I be from Canada. One of the attendants was recording or vidoechatting while he was chanding tge towel in our bathroom. The place is no doubt very beautiful.

Describing the beauty of the Maldives is impossible.
The resort is always spotless, offering different types of entertainment. The staff is always kind and helpful!
It will not disappoint you!

A beautiful place, a paradise beach. Many attractions and delicious food. Unfortunately, dead coral, so advise against diving. The perfect place to relax.

Natural beauty is perfectly protected. Employees are very kind and nice. All inclusive drink menu is limited. Many honeymooners, so don't expect to feel special unless you buy extra packages. But you are very special for your live and that's what matters They provided a complimentary fruit basket and a sparkling drink on the 3rd day of our stay.
Big adventure trip was not as good as we expected. Didn't see the whale shark. Marta and the turtles were very small and the water was not clear enough.
Renting bike is a good choice but bikes are very old and hurts your butt at the end of the day
Shows at 21.30 at main bar are ok so far.

Friendly host. High performance referring cost. Continental Cooking and high quality used matter. I was been with mu family from 11 to 19 dec.'19 in sunset accomodation, wonderful solution for sea, sunset and comfortable stay. The Resort offers several entertainments and land e sea sports. extra cost of excursions and services colud be less expensive. Anyway we have had a nice time in Sun Island resort. Holyday to repeat.

What I liked most about Sun Island is the size of the island which makes it seem like there are not so many people when it is crowded.
The entertainment is present but not overwhelming, evenings are organized.
The restaurant varies the dishes, the downside is the restaurant which has low opening widths (1h30).
On the other hand, level of equipment is the top: a 9-hole course (practice), beach volleyball, football field, tennis courts, badminton court, 5 ping pong tables, gym worthy of the name, shops, and and the SPA, of which we tried both the usual Asian massages and the Indian massages.
Masseuses are experts.
Tourist attraction at night: the hotel feeds stingrays and sharks.
The sea is great, the pool too and the comfortable deckchairs for the beach and the pool and not to spoil the pleasure you will also have a pair of sun loungers in front of your bungalow.
In case you didn't understand, we loved it !!!

The only downside: it's the transport, we did:
- Roissy to Dubai
- Dubai to Male (international airport)
- Male to Maamigili (domestic airport) 5 minutes easy walk with suitcases
- Maamigili port airport shuttle (3 minutes) with suitcases
- boat from the port to sun island

lots of fruits and vegetables are grown on the island

Now if we put the price, the quality and this small downside, it's the Maldives at a bargain price

I m sorry but review this location again because i am verry dissapointed about the management from there. After over a month the i was there after 3 weeks writting emails(16 emails in total) keep asking details and passport copy still didnt manage to resolve my issue with pay me back the last day from all inclusive package that i didnt stay there. The place is beautiful with verry nice sunrise and sunsets .

The beauty of this island is like can't be expressed in words.

It's simply the best island on
Maldives.

My husband and I were there for the honeymoon in February 2016. It was too hot in the room we could not fall asleep, even though we had plenty of tips, the room was never really clean. Before leaving our cigarettes were stolen (10 boxes) 1 box, hotel manager did not want to refund it made us wait. He wanted to bribe us with COCKTAILS I was persistent just wanted to have my cigarettes. And then I got it too. Otherwise really nice island nice tourists, staff was also good except the roomboy but heck

good view heavenly place but the service is very poor. all inclusive but you have to pay everything even a bottle of water because the cup of water is not free. the waiter didn't show himself so I went to the bar to take my order. After 20 minutes he didn't show himself again. So I took myself my bottle and I serve myself and there were only 3 tables full.

the service is not at the level of a 5 or even a 4 stars hotel.
