Sugar Bowl doesn't have the greatest terrain in Tahoe, but when they get snow they get absolutely pummeled.

I spent a long weekend here and had the best skiing I've ever had -- 2 to 3 feet of fresh light powder. The service was fantastic, and the food in the lodges was decently affordable and very tasty.

Easy level Pioneer trail near Judah lodge is long and good ride, plenty of powder this weekend. Look out for sign and keep to right to stay on Pioneer otherwise it will veer off to Christmas express lift and union trail down to nob hill lift and lodge. It is 5 min walk back to Judah lodge.

Right off The 80 and more than enough terrain to keep you busy all day. Always enjoy coming here because of the easy access and cool vibes. Definitely a must trip at least once a season. Last time was an epic storm but still had a blast even though you might get stuck in some pow pow here and there, at least I do. Ha ha!

We absolutely love Sugar Bowl! My husband learned to ski here and now it's my turn. We come here every winter almost every weekend. It's very accessible, not crazy crowded all the time, fantastic employees and great runs. The food and drinks are also enjoyable. The trails are my favorite, though! Great snowshoeing and crosscountry.

Took my two young boys there yesterday with some friends. We had a great time and couldn't believe it was not that crowded. Payment, although a bit steep even with a coupon, was quick and after researching is significantly less than other corporate run ski resorts. Ski rental was also a very quick and efficient process. This was my two boys first time skiing and my first time in about 30 years. Will definitely be going back. Thanks Sugar Bowl for a great skiing experience with my family and friends!

Yes, not a ton of beginner runs, but my beginner 10 year old loved it. The staff is really great and so helpful. They are attentive and the guy running the beginner lift all day really earns his paycheck. He helps all the little kids and when my daughter was struggling for her first run, all of a sudden, a staff member appeared on the mountain asking if we needed help. Not too big of a resort that it is so impersonal and not too small. The staff helped me find our missing goggles...as in, they stopped what they are doing and actually help you, not just point to something and say, "Go ask here..."

One of the best resorts in the Sierras. Far cheaper than the Heavenlies and Northstars, with a laid back family feel, a huge choice of runs for all skill levels, a casual bar and decent food options, and a small lodge.

There is only one reason for your low score: inability to handle traffic. I was there yesterday and traffic was impossible. You're located 3 miles from the I80, and it should take 5-7 min from the I80 to get there. However, it took us more than 40 min in the morning and another 40 min in the afternoon. That's just ridiculous and annoying. Both directions of the I80 had traffic because of the inability of your staff to handle traffic caused by your resort. You must have a plan for ski season, and organize better. Add more people to handle traffic and organize parking, for example, and try to be more efficient when directing people where to park. Other places like Disneyland and Mammoth mountain have a lot more traffic to handle and they can manage it. Also, staff seemed to have no knowledge at all of the mess they were causing when I mentioned the traffic at the I80.

Great place with variety of terrain for all types of skiers.
Especially great are the longer runs.
If coming in with kids be sure that they have enough stamina, otherwise they might get bored after few runs.
Also if arriving, take the little gondola down to the village ;)

Love this place. Great terrain. Losts of variety. Rental shop is easy peasy. Good equipment. Helpful staff. Parking is fairly easy and close. Judah side has very close parking. Main parking has gondola access to main lodge.

Close enough for a day trip from SF bay area. Took my son up for his first trip. His class was maybe a bit too full; sounds like some students monopolized instructors time a bit. I would recommend private or semi private if you can. we skied together after and the beginner runs are great for first timers. Staff was overall very friendly and was happy to be there.

A truly family friendly mountain with history going back to the '40s. The new 'switching yard' park is where the kids will be all day while the adults head up for some downhill action. Free rentals included with purchase of lift ticket. Plenty of advanced terrain if you just keep going up! Great sun deck at mid-mountain with restaurant and patio.

Long lines at the base of the hill, ski team always rushing and cutting in. Not enough snow to run the place. Outrageously priced food to make up money they lost in the beginning of the season.

Some decent challenging terrain at this mountain. Fairly small with a five intermediate/advanced express lifts. Beautiful sunny day with good snow when we were there. Disappointing as it took them forever to get the Summit Chair open so we could ski the fresh powder from snow a couple of days earlier. It didn't open until around noon. But some great untracked snow, although a short run, once they finally got it going.

Conditions were not the greatest when arrived. It had the most snow out of any mountain in the area however mountain was not very challenging on its own. High price for single day, but lower than other mountains in the area

It's a nice place to go skiing/snowboarding, and they have quite a few runs to go on. The only draw back I can think of is the food they offer isn't super varied and is expensive. It would be nice to see them open it up to different vendors to drop the pricing and include more diversity.

Our family loves this place!

Reasonable lift tickets. almost always 10.00 to 20.00 less than Northstar or Squaw

First to have snow and the most snow. They make a lot of snow too.

Easy in and out. Parking is fairly close by. They have a great drop-off area

The Core Program. We did three separate days in Dec and Jan and now have enough points for a free adult and teen lift ticket!

Reasonable packages: My wife, daughter and daughter's friend got lessons for 2 hours and a limited pass(that covered the best and most fun terrain). Even on a holiday I believe it was less than 110.00 each and usually 25.00 less than that.

Pleasant employees. They answer email speedy fast too. I have never run into an a$#hole, ever.

Easy access. Right off of 80.

Terrain: varied and interesting.

Bad: Do not mark rocks very well. Just ask my skis.

Bad 2: People tend to stash their stuff in the lodge and occupy tables all day. That sucks and is unfair to those of us who rent a storage bin and would like a warm place when we take a break.

Like the guy said above: Lets keep this quiet!

This is hands-down our favorite Tahoe ski resort. Sugar Bowl is positioned so that it gets snow when no other resorts are, so the chance of natural snow (even if groomed) is much better here. Grooming is excellent, and operations in general are very good. Ski patrol has a good presence so most skiers and snowboarders are there to have good runs, not knock you off the slopes with their antics.

This resort does have one drawback in that the facilities are not as extensive as others. However, if you're there to ski and not to be seen apres ski, that really doesn't matter as much.

Great ski resort. They got a lot of snow in 2017. The blue and green trails are groomed by afternoon usually if there was snow. Almost all there blacks are moguls. My family started coming to Sugarbowl in 2015 and we rent and house in truckee or stay at the hotel. If theres a forecast of heavy snow and you should book the resorts hotel fast beacuse the 10 or 20 min drive up the mountain, highway traffic, and sight range in the storm isn't very fun. All in all, we have had great expiriences at sugar bowl.

The best ski resort in tahoe.

The best ski resort in tahoe.

If you are new to the area, I highly recommend spending your hours skiing here and supporting this company instead of the corporations that own Squaw Valley or Northstar.
