Actually a cool location to the entrance (or exit) of Death Valley. But unfortunately 2 x been there, 2 x unfriendly staff. Completely overwhelmed. Not recommended if you do not want to be annoyed about it. :(

Rooms were simple and typical hotel style, bed, bathroom, minifridge, tv, desk. Atmosphere is great given it's settled in the valley between mountain ranges. NPS Ranger station is less than 100 yards away. There is a general store and fuel station across the street. They have a pool, a restaurant, and a saloon on the property as well. WiFi was spotty, but we weren't there to play on the internet. Would stay again.

We were staying at a campground down the road and headed here for use of their pool - usually $4 per person but they offered it free (maybe reopening deal?). Had a great dip and shower, then saw the sunset at the dunes before heading back for some very decent dinner in the restaurant where the staff couldn t do enough for us. The night was topped off when we did some impromptu stargazing with the team, Patrick and Phil, who then graciously let us keep using the telescope to look for more! Everyone was working so hard, these places need the support at the moment so definitely stop by!

Given that this place is in the middle of death valley they do a great job. If you are hungry try to get in as early as possible. They tend to fill up and you will most likely have a wait. In addition to this time for food to the table takes a little long too, but again- this is death valley. There is nothing here, so everyone here does a great job.

Very nice place to explore the area. Less "trendy" than Furnace Creek but with a special charm ... that has its price. Consider making provisions for the front mouth (there is a small fridge in the room). No problem with cockroaches regarding our stay. Too bad that the wifi is so small, scope and possibilities (the upload is blocked on some sites).

We had dinner in the Toll Road Restaurant. Some dishes are really good, like the cheeseburger and steak salad. But during our visit we saw at least 3 customers complained about their dish ( spaghetti and rips). Service was just bad, slow and forgetful. And obligatory 15% gratuity for a bad service.

Didn't have a good experience here, unfortunately. First, the wifi was down the entire time we stayed. On the morning of the second day, the shower flooded our entire room, so we were transferred to the room next door. This room was infested with small insects. I probably ingested several gnats as I slept. The walls, as well as some of the appliances and furniture were completely stained with insect carcasses and guts. I understand that they're located in the desert, but we paid over $200 a night. We would have been better off camping or staying elsewhere. My fiancee told me that the employees were apologetic, but it would have been nicer to receive a partial refund for the horrid stay. The only saving grace was that the sheets and towels seemed really clean - no hair or stains.

We passed through Stovepipe Wells Village while on a quick roadtrip up from LA to visit the dunes. The last time I had been through Death Valley was 14 years ago. I don't remember this place being here then, but I'm glad it's here now! We stopped in to grab a bite to eat after a day of adventuring. The restaurant or "SALOON" as it's labeled on the outside is good for being in the middle of nowhere, but I wouldn't say the food is fantastic. I had the Angus Burger and my fiance had the chicken strips since they were out of all meats to make any of the sandwiches. The waiter seemed scattered and didn't really pay attention to basic things like drink refills. While the food isn't great, we found the drinks to be delicious. We will definitely come here again if we visit Death Valley again, but I hope some of the things that I've pointed out have been improved on. Overall okay experience. The food happily gave me the fuel to propose to my current fiance on the dunes. Thanks Stovepipe Wells!

I was camping across the road, but went to the hotel for dinner. Restaurant's fairly priced I think for being out in the middle of no where, and food was good. The gas station there is cheaper than other places in Death Valley. The WiFi is free, but spotty and slow (only reason I'm taking a star.) For 5 bucks non-guests can use their pool and shower. This place isn't perfect, but it they're pretty good considering the relative lack of competition out in the middle of Death Valley.

Stayed there most recently for a month January/February 2019 as Artist in Residence. Also many times over the last 40 years. Anyone who thinks it is rustic now just does not know how much it is improved under the current owners. As to comments about prices, they come from people who have neither stayed at Furnace Creek nor considered the cost and distance to get anything there - it is Death Valley after all.

Communication is great compared to what it was not too long ago. Twenty years ago there was one pay phone, no internet, and no TV. If you want to be there to do office work go to Las Vegas or stay at home.

My husband and I had such a sweet stay in room 4 at Stovepipe Wells. We were very pleased with COVID protocols that were in place during our stay. Staff were very kind and welcoming. We loved having dark night skies right above us and sunsets right outside of our room. Helpful having a market and gas station across the street. You can also see Mesquite Dunes from the front of the hotel. Our burgers were very good both times we ordered them after a long day hiking. In our opinion its the best location to stay in Death Valley unless maybe you are camping but they also offer RV and I think tent spots directly across the street. Appreciated the dining table outside of our room and rocking chairs. We were sad to leave!

We went for a 21 day round trip through the western part of the US. This was by far the worst hotel due to several reasons.

- The bathroom door didn't close at all.
- The front door (fun fact; these were the only 2 doors in the room) only closed with a lot of power pushing, my fiancee was not able to close the door...
- The restaurant hostess was very unfriendly and unprofessional.. we were put in a seperate area of the restaurant (don't know why... I will leave it in the middle but my fiancee had some ideas) at a terrible table (only 6 other people where dining and at least 25 tables where still free) so I asked to be reseated. This was not possible (the hotel was far from full and the restaurant was never full that evening) due to some lame excuse.
- The food was good btw!
- When we wanted to leave the check (our waiter wasn't seen for over 30 minutes) she rudely told us to leave it at the table when I wanted to give it to her to make sure the money reached the destination almost shouting it at us..
- We went to the cafe to grab a beer (not much else to do in this hotel) and even when the waiter/bartender told us twice he will be right there we were waiting 15 minutes before we could order anything. I went to the bar to get it myself but even than he kept helping people who just walked up instead of me while I was waiting a long time.
- I didn't want to start a scene so went to the front office to complain, was treated ok, complaint would be provided to general manager and he would get back. Didn't happen ...
- To this date I am still waiting a reply from the manager as it's outrageous how we were treated..

All in all: Don't go here, go somewhere else. The location is awesome, star gazing and the general store are awesome but the hotel and staff are terrible and not worth your money and tips!

Just checking out stovepipe wells hotel as we made reservations tomorrow. Please note as I find all over google maps and made tons of corrections to restaurant addresses, hotel addresses, even a blended menu and website of 2 restaurants in my home town. The 360 pic is not of stovepipe wells. Its a 360 but starting at Panamint. If you click into it from here you actually get on the blue line so you can google walk the highway. I wish people would separate their vacation pics to the proper hotel or restaurant they stayed at. If from another state or country it can be very deceptive for touring the area.

One of the best hotel I stayed for my US road trip...

One of the best hotel I stayed for my US road trip, simply relaxing and quiet place. They have a restaurant in reasonable price, and gas station just on the opposite with fair price. But their WiFi access is limited around registration office and gift shop only, and the Internet speed is not very fast, however that is already good enough as no signal at all outside the buildings. And you can always drive your car to the front of your room.
Their front desk open 24 hours and have to check out before 11am, coffee also available inside their registration office. If you need a breakfast, you have to pay extra $13.5 for their breakfast buffet from 07:00 to 10:00, Lunch available from 11:30 to 17:30, and dinner from 19:00 to 22:00. And the general store in opposite street open from 07:00 to 22:00.
At night, you can stay with the fire or drive to Sand Dunes within 5 mins, and you can see a starry sky of the Death Valley. After all, Death Valley is one of the darkest area of the west, you definitely don t wanna miss the night time in there

The motel rooms are extremely over priced.. more of a 1 star room at 5 star price. If you are looking something slightly better than sleeping in a tent, at $175/night, this is the place for you. Not only that it comes with an antique A/C that squeels all night.
Throw a blanket on a sand dune...youll enjoy it more.
But, the restaurant food is good, but... really expensive.

It was a quaint little place, conveniently located, and with friendly staff. There is a bar, restaurant, and patio with a fire pit, making for a community feel. My only complaint is that our shower only got to lukewarm, but the group I was traveling in did not have the same complaint about their rooms.

4.0 Stars for the Saloon

4.0 Stars for the Saloon

Ate at the Saloon for lunch on Oct 16, and our server (dark-haired guy with hair pulled back) did an awesome job taking care of our party. He was very friendly, accommodating, and patient. Even when the saloon was hit with multiple parties at once, he handled himself very well. The quesadillas were tasty and satisfying after hiking the dunes.

Great location - near dunes and other sights, next to an excellent restaurant and across the street from a general store and gas station. Huge room with fridge and coffee maker and huge bathroom. Very friendly employees in the hotel and in the excellent restaurant - very good food and service. Too cold to use the pool but it looked nice. One-story motel so just drive up to your door; extremely convenient to get things in/out of car. So excited to have been able to stay in a national park - we are usually miles and miles outside of one. Would recommend!

Tiny room, no safety latch on door, only one nightstand by bed and no electric outlets by bed, only place to put your toiletries in bathroom except on top of toilet, only one folding luggage rack (despite there being no other surface besides the floor for additional bags), and cheap mattress...all for $200/night, breakfast not included. You be the judge.

strategically located, especially if you are already too tired to drive again after spending some times in the Death Valley.

We stayed here for a night only and we just walked in, got the room for 4 for more than USD 220, so it was quite costly for 2 adults and 2 kids. But the room is nice, simple and clean. Everything is working properly and we had a good rest. We didn't take the breakfast and didn't get a chance to see other facilities like the outdoor pool and we left quite early in the morning. Maybe if you booked earlier you will get better price :).

We shopped for souvenirs in the shop across the street and they have many nice items.

No way to do business in the restaurant/bar: bait and switch on the menus, web site misrepresents, no bar/pub fare during the football game, big prices small portions, can you say gouged, lots of items on the menu not available, desserts stale, coffee lukewarm, no wonder the restaurant portion is closed and only the bar was open, staff did hustle and attempted to make up for it all. People do talk. Hello Death Valley National Park/National Park Service. This concession is not being run well.

If you are backpacking/camping and you want to cool off and take a shower, you can pay for pool and shower access.
Pros:
- The pool is wonderful especially after being out in the heat all day.
- The showers are a bit rundown, but nothing too bad. They have clean towels and mirrors in the shower areas.
Cons:
- Rooms are overpriced and often need to be booked in advance
- Rooms aren't very high quality. *If you don't care about ruffing it a little bring a tent and sleep at the camping ground across the street for wayy less.

Awesome place. Quite expensive, but clean and comfortable. Great location, next to many points of interest in Death Valley, including Mesquite Dunes and Mosaic Canyon.

Mesquite Dunes (and hence Stovepipe Wells) are especially recommended for star gazers.

Also big plus for good restaurant.

We spent one night there, the room is beautiful and spacious, the bathroom is pretty like everything. The location of the hotel is just perfect, the sunset over the mountains in a cathedral silence is just magical! In short totally out of place.
