Tried to go four a late night swim in the water tank but was refused. forced to swim laps in the tub all night.
Also this building is just better looking
The hotel is quite old at the entrance and the only thing well done. The rooms are not nice and not very spacious. In addition, a smell of rotten or vomit emanated from the hallway often late at night when we came home! The neighbors playing ghost and scratching at the doors in the evening were less annoying than the narrow showers with yellowish water and rotten taste I hope this is not connected to the toilets. Despite all this the positive sides are the kindness on the part of the employees.
Espelunca !!!! Horrible service !!! I hated it! Hated it !!!!!!!
I tried the listed phone number from the site and a recording tells me the number is temporarily out of service. I didn't check for any availability.
I doubt this place is open anymore. Back in the 1980's this was $20 a nite with lodgers staying on weekly or monthly plans. It was called a "lodging house" back in the day. Reservations we're unheard of and requests for a week brought consternation to the clerk's face. I learned much later that one key actually fit several doors. It's situated on "the row" which is slowly but surely losing ground to upscale bars, restaurants, swanky apartments, and inevitable gentrification.
We all need your mom. Answers ?? Yes or your family member. It is not be ridiculous and look for a life the case was a mystery.
I don't understand why anyone is surprised that this is/was the Cecil Hotel. The staff makes no secret of it and if you have any modicum of situational awareness then you know that this is just part of Skid Row, hard as they may try to gentrify it. Yes there have been plenty of deaths and crimes associated with it, and while I agree that this place should probably be demolished I can't help but think a lot of people are having psychological reactions to information that they have received about the place.
That being said it's still a dump surrounded by junkies and hookers with outdated rooms and communal bathrooms. The shiver down your spine that you may be feeling is probably more due to bedbugs then any sort of "supernatural phenomenon."
Coulda been better for the price i paid. Didnt need much service was there for one night only
Beautiful hotel, although a bit run down. But for the location and the price it's worth it.
Well located, it's not hot, the price is too cheap to complain about. It's funny that they expect the attention of a 5-star hotel for $ 60 a night.
Nothing strange happened to me, luckily. But it was interesting to spend time in those facilities. In which so many deaths and misfortunes have happened! Very good, in my opinion.
It nice, the staff was friendly and the hype around the place was was fun. The girl who was found in the water tower was rumored to be found here.
I rented in that hotel when it was the hotel cecil now stay on main hotel in that henoncesesta a bit betterbque those who were around like the roslis and bde but I paid 20 dollars a day and they watered the rooms more or less
The great strength of this hotel is its central location, next to the Fashion District, where you can buy clothes and accessories at good wholesale and retail prices. Breakfast, the same every day, waffles with honey, milk, cereals and tea or coffee. The serving staff are attentive and helpful. However, the rooms are small, bathroom too basic, it does not have a sink inside, the closets are precarious, without drawers or shelves only four hangers, the rooms do not have air conditioning, they are an oven! Then, the kitchen is offered, it only has a fridge and a microwave, there are no utensils for cooking. I requested an upgrade to the only apartment with air, it is very expensive, it is very comfortable, spacious with a living room and a kitchen, but the kitchen does not have dishes, pots or utensils for cooking, therefore it does not help at all. In summary, I would not return to this hotel, it is clean, but an oven !!. From chile. I visited him in May, 2014.
It is not very central, if you go by car, be careful where you park, the back street from 20:00 has many homeless and other drunkards. The hotel has a nice reception and the reception staff take care of you quite well, if we compare it with the rest of the employees of the breakfast and the condition of the rooms.
They say breakfast is continental, but it only has orange juice in 5-liter bottles, milk and coffee in a thermos, to choose from three bulk cereals and Waffles, nothing more. And if it's past 10:00, you don't have breakfast.
The rooms are neglected, the new furniture if there is, is from ikea. The old one is broken, the bed trundle covered with duct tape, every time you move it creaks, the windows without soundproofing, without air conditioning. Of course a ceiling fan, if you go from October to May, you will not need air conditioning. The bathroom, as several say, is all bath and shower, I have showered in showers larger than the bathroom in these rooms, there are no hangers, no far, the supposed closet is an empty hole with an ironing board, they don't put soap , I would not go back. I hope it will serve others, I had another reservation on the same site and I am going to cancel it, I prefer to pay a little more and enjoy.
Didn't even end up staying. It was a totally weird place. Try to find a place better than this.
Honestly everyone is complaining about the name change and deaths but I lived my stay the rooms were small and did not have a bathroom but for the price it was excellent!
DO NOT VISIT THIS HOTEL
They can change their name and try to leave it in the past but what happened withing those walls cannot be changed. Elisa Lam will be remembered. If you go, please be careful. It's really sketchy.
Historic hotel. Night Stalker Richard Ramirez lived here when it was the Cecil and he was at the height of his 1985 killing spree. There is a lot of weird stuff that happened here. The lobby is worth a visit. Park close, Skid Row is rough.
I would never stay there. With the history of death and serial killers I rather pay a little more and stay somewhere else. Plus homeless people etc no thanks.
The worst experience of my life in an American hotel. We stayed there for 4 long nights, but never again will we stay here again. We were victims of paranormal phenomena (we must live to believe it!), The water flowing from our tap in the room ran black for 5 seconds and had a foul taste, we felt observed in the shower (we took very fast !!), the light to access the toilet was green, impossible to get in, it forced behind as if someone pushed the door and suddenly released it so we can go back ..... the wrists They were moving all by themselves, they were knocking on the wall ... and when we knew everything that had happened while leaving (otherwise it was not funny) we felt very stupid not to have looked at the reviews earlier than to reserve ourselves. Now this hotel is destroyed, but it served us a lesson not to read the reviews before booking !!!!
The neighborhood is quite depressing... a lot of homeless people walking and sleeping around.
The room was really clean and the staff was really nice.
Me and my girlfriend we paid 50 dollars for one night which is a little to expensive for a room without a bathroom inside and a air conditioning. It was teribly hot that night, over 30 Celsius degrees inside...
in that hotel were sereal murderers and the mysterious death of Elisa Lam
I stayed at this hotel and got eaten up by bed bugs
Stay on Main is one of the cheapest hotels in Downtown LA and it definitely makes up for that! The rooms are small yet cozy, the breakfast is complimentary and the shared bathrooms are kept very clean, so no worries there! The walls are a little thin, so noisy neighbors can be a little bothersome, but nothing to severely complain about.
The staff are very helpful and friendly, shout out to the man Eliu, thanks for your help bud. Muchos Gracias!
Elisa Lam died in this hotel.
I went on a trip and stayed for 5 nights. I never knew in my stay that this mysterious death had happened. I was going to look for water very early in the morning at the kitchen on the 4th floor. I went down in the famous video elevator alone. Haha a lot of fear and chill.
The hotel is great, totally recommendable
So many things wrong with this place. The weirdest part for me were the showers. People had pulled the grates apart that led to another room so they could watch people shower. And to my surprise, I got watched as well. Rooms are not worth their price.
it has a good lobby only. the service is really more than bad and the receptions are bad and there is no cooperation. it like you live for free. I thought that I didn't pay for staying here because of their behavior.
It's an okay place. Rooms are kinda old and small. But it's a reliable place for a cheap stay in LA
don't stay here alone. just don't do it. please listen to me and don't do it. I stayed here a couple years ago, shortly before the Elisa incident, and have been absolutely mad since.
Seriously lacking hotel. Staff seems overwhelmed. Rooms are marginal at best. And then there's the dead body in the water tower.
Stayed there for 6 nights. Personnel is friendly, but the rooms are small, no private bathroom or shower. Breakfast is very limited.. just wafels and cereal. Valet parking guy was nice. WiFi was quite bad. The neighbourhood is okay-ish, but there is not much to do. Cheapest parking is $11.50 per night.
water tasted a bit funny and was a bit discolored, but other than that, it was fine!
I did not get murdered here so that's a good thing. This hotel has quite a past. The name change was a good idea but same old place.
It's a good place to spend the night after a days worth of traveling, overnight parking expect to pay up to $20(at the time of this review) for overnight parking with in and out access. The shared bathroom options Are a bit misleading as they are public bathrooms in the hallways and not shared between rooms. None the less they pretty well kept and very usable. You do have the option to upgrade to a private bathroom for an additional value of $46(at the time of this review) where there is a shower and toilet in your room for personal use. Walking distance to some great food joints and the Over all the experience was plesant
Honestly when i first seen this i was like no way they're just goes to show you how much downtown has changed and how downtown has become a lot more pet friendly I don't remember downtown not actually never being pet friendly but I can say now that it's a lot more pet-friendly and stuff is more accommodating for people that have animals which is a big positive
I really don t understand how this hotel is still up. This hotel is really shady I don t like it.
Absolutely awful. We opened our room door to find garbage, piped, and towels all over the floors. The beds were shoved in a corner with no bedding. It was disgusting. The front desk service was horrible. Took us 20 minutes just to get to the desk. I will never be going back to this hotel and I advice anyone staying here to check your room before bringing up your luggage.
honestly i heard this was the insparation for ahs season 5 so i decided to send my friend there she said her experience was great
Had some werid stuff happen their not sure maybe just an off day for me it was ok.
The water tasted odd, which is exactly what I would expect from any hotel, and is what is in every hotel I've been to. Someone was hanging outside their window, also someone on the roof, they looked like they were having fun. It was better than the Hilton Hotel in Milwaukee, which had blood on the comforters, pretty outside bad inside. I thought the bathrooms were fine, I stayed there for a week because I heard Los Angeles was beautiful at night (It was, the lights are amazing), The staff were nice. It was hard to sleep because the room next to me kept arguing and throwing things. I always check the doors at hotels to feel safe, but these were very easy to get through. Someone kept basically screaming outside, which I was not surprised about, it happens everywhere. The rooms were nice, other than the paint peeling off some of the walls. I would defiantly go again. (I went there in 2017)
Your crazy ta or give me 500,000 million I stay in the hotel in that hotel there are strange things and also many people have died there. I don't know why they haven't closed it.
Thanks for the laughs I needed that. I was reading something on this hotel. It is very upsetting as to the incidentals that took place in this establishment over the many years, but the truth remains that there are places that have experienced more deaths in a day than this hotel will in its lifetime. I'm guessing that the last death it will see is it's own. If it's close for good, that we'll know of. The stars are for the entertainment from previous posts.
Room is motel quality but clean. There are no air conditioning or any method of getting fresh air in the room. You get what you paid for though.
Unless you want to be possessed and driven to commit suicide in the hotel's water tank, you should probably use the stairs.
Couldn t sleep! An Asian lady knocked on my door and told me to drink the water! Weird!
I hope everyone knows that this used to be the Cecil Hotel. It is the place most known for the death of Elisa Lam. There has been a lot of suicides and murders there. I DO NOT recommend it. DO NOT go.
Blaa blaa Richard Ramirez stayed here Elisa lamb died here !!! Who cares don t mean nothing stop being dramatic people
It's alright, went around 2013. Water was kinda nasty and black. But it got fixed pretty quick. People kept running on halls and heard lots of knocking. Perfect place if you want the creepiest hotel possible.
One can only marvel at any reviews that are sometimes made and are simply harmful to business: There writes someone who has never stopped in his own words in this hotel and will never stop, as the person writes and evaluates things like rooms, service and Location. These are really reviews that you can do without or not? Personal experiences are absolute prerequisite for a rating. And that's exactly what I want to hear when I look at reviews.
I didn't stay here but people are saying that at night time around 1 am I don't know but people are saying that they can hear screaming and humming and a
Also whisper outside the hotel
Very comfortable and cozy place, excellent to spend a weekend
The room i visited was nice. Bit i was more caught up in this place and it's place in los Angeles' notorious criminal past
Just imagine 3 suicides 2 murderers 1 homicide is already too much
The hotel of the serial killers and closest at the time of the suicides.
I stayed there in August of 2013 about 6 months after the Elisa Lam incident. Nothing fancy but I can't complain for the price it was within walking distance to the staples center. At the time I was oblivious of it's history and now that I know about it I'd love to stay there again one day.
There was a old man knocking at my door for 17 hours straight^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This hotel must be closed urgently.
You should not turn a deaf ear to situations that have occurred in previous years, this is dangerous and not a joke at all.
Beware to any and everyone!! All you need to do is watch the new series cecil hotel and it says it all!! Black Dahlia was staying here when she was murdered! Was home to 2 serial killers and Elisa Lam mysteriously disappeared and was found dead 3 weeks later in water tanks on roof that only employees had access to!! These are not made up super natural fairy tales just do your research!! Stay away from the stay because if you don t it may be permanant!!
Too bad this place is closed. They are remodeling them into micro apartments.
Me and my aunt tried to tour the hotel so tried our hardest to explore the but they won t let you they will say to a date to tour the hotel
