I would go alone because it has to do with the case of the black dahlia my friends say that it is a good hotel I give it a 4 just because I do not know whether it is recommended or not

no one go to this hotel. it was the home of at least 3 serial killers , 20 suicides, and the mystery of Elisa Lam. Don't go and don't drink the dark water!

the bathrooms were terribly dirty, i found stains on the towels, heard SCREAMING from next doors and was the most scariest experience. i found blood on the curtains, which really unsettled me so i only stayed for 1 night. the water was fine, but idk why people are lying about the water being black when it was cleaned out.

Good price and good location, only there is a lot of homeless around and it tends to give you some insecurity, but it is very reliable

We arrived here after a long drive from san francisco looking for a cheap place to sleep a couple of nights. Werent expecting a lot but when we walked in to stayonmain we were very impressed with this unique hostel. Not much around thr neighbourhood but close to the subway. Funky building with new amenities, breakfast, activities in the lobby. Very impressed + happy with our stay!! Jj+ Green

I haven t been there myself but I know all about the Cecil hotel. When reading these reviews it made me mad when people said the water taste like some died in it because they obviously had looked it up before. GUYS THE WATER HAS BEEN CLEANED STOP ACTING LIKE BABIES. This hotel has a checkered past and I know they are just trying to be a normal hotel again so please will you stop being to negative because they are a perfectly fine hotel now. Oh and to the people who think about saying the water is black we know your lying because it has been cleaned and we can see when you have published it.

friendly service, good location, although the center is not very safe ... rooms ok, no wardrobe, iron and board, shared bathroom. nightmarish breakfasts, but it's better than nothing. 3 * are ok.

I prefer to go to sleep under a bridge before going to stay at this hotel, do you think that I would go there to stay there knowing of the atrocities that have happened in that hotel ??? No way...!!!!!

I reserved a night at this hotel on a Saturday morning. I showed up Saturday evening,with my CONFIRMED reservation with a confirmation number. However, the hotel said their hotel reservation system was full of errors and therefore could not honour my reservation given they were full. The lobby was packed with people with confirmed rooms but for whom the hotel was simply telling them to leave. By this time, a Saturday night in July, all of Los Angeles was fully booked. It took us more than two hours to find a place with availability and then more than an hour to get there. This completely ruined our whole LA night, when we have just two nights in California. The hotel offered 0 help, advice,retribution: they could not care less. They would having their guests on the street. Worst customer service I have ever seen.

location is not that great. There isn't alot of things to do in downtown.
but the hostel is okay. stayed there for 13 nights.
booked a room with 8 beds but when i arrived in the room it was a two person room with private restroom and tv.
showers are shared with everybody on the floor. there are alot of showers so that's fine. housekeeping cleans the restrooms and showers everyday, but people keep making them really dirty :(

This hotel is great! We have traveled a lot and I have seen so much different places and I can say this hotel is really great! The stuff is so nice they give you directions on have to go anywhere in L.A. almost every tickets you can buy on reception,breakfast is normal american waffles,syrup,milk,cereals,juice,water,coffee or tea really enough! Stuff is so nice you can ask them whatever you want and the great stuff that for example in other hotels is payable is that that checkout is until 12am but you can leave your baggage if you have for example late night flight and all that for free!!! You have 2 big screens to watch movies you want you just have to ask on reception and you get popcorns also! You can also play ping pong,chest,monopoly and many other games I mean hotel for that price is more then great!!! It is in center of downtown and in walking distance is bus,metro,market,coffee shops like Starbucks,parking I mean you have everything!!! I love everything here! Highly recommended!!!

Very spooky place. The building is awesome but it's been abandoned so looks dirty in the outside. Lots of homeless living across the street. But it is worth it to visit for pictures.

just weird not having a bathroom in the room we stayed it. feels more like a hostel than a hotel

Probably shouldn't have read about all the murders, suicides, rapes & disappearances on our first night arriving. Spooked me a lot! - spent it awake with the lamp on listening to every door creek (very annoying), sirens and what sounded like gun shots. However, I stuck it out for two more nights - pretty good find for the price you pay. We had a room on the 4th floor with a bathroom. It's super cheap for what it is, the waffles are decent and great for those on a budget. Downtown isn't the greatest but the bus system is easy to navigate yourself around. We Used google maps and found some great little spots around the hotel too. Despite the history, semi scummy area & the possibility of bed bugs, and no room safes - it's cheap, the staff are friendly, there's a washing machine & free wifi & waffles.

This hotel is known for so many murders & suicides, I've never been to this hotel because I live in LA but I recommend you go to another hotel, you get a very creepy feeling in here once you read about what has happened in this hotel. Other than that very friendly staff according to everyone.

less expensive hotel in the heart of downtown los Angeles a bit old but good

Very shady staff. Our motorcycle was hit (next door to the hotel) and the driver of the car was then seen running into the hotel, returning with uniformed staff to prop the motorcycle back up (as its very heavy), then driving off. This was all witnessed. When we tried to ask the front desk, calmly, if they had seen anything go on, and imidiately told us we had to leave as we were on private property
We asked about video footage, and they said they didn t have access to that room, but would check it out on Monday. How convenient.
Don t support this company, and PLEASE don t leave them in control of your safety!!

Extremely unsatisfied! I reserved a room this past weekend for a special occasion. I researched the place online and loved how modern and clean the hotel/hostel looked in all the pictures. I even paid more for a queen sized bed and personal bath and planned accordingly. I arrived sometime around midnight, check-in was fast, then proceeded to our room on the 14th floor. Once off the elevator the place looks like a dump, we get into our room to find out its extremely HOT NO A/C, really small and the ceiling fan is broken!! Our window was jammed open and dangerous to the touch. They obviously pay no attention to safety. The bathroom was ridiculous, No Tub, just a shower head projected from the ceiling. At this point I was enraged and headed back to front desk. Demanded a refund, customer service representative Jen was very rude to me. She offered me a floor fan and informed me the entire building doesn't have ac and that its posted on the website before reserving. Its untrue! Its all false advertisement. I find out I don't get a refund until a week later! I'm still waiting for my money. Anyway, we were homeless at 2am and its nearly impossible to find a hotel with vacancy. This is a warning to all people considered this hotel. DONT STAY HERE.

I really loved this place. My room was very clean and cozy. Within walking distance to many tourist attractions. I'll definitely be back.

I had a friend staying here, so I visited it, the water tasted BAD!!! and Now I heard Elisa lam DIED here, and so did some other people. I don't recommend it

I have only spent one night but I loved my room. Perfectly clean, big and inviting to rest. They let me check-in earlier than the usual time. They have shuttle to the airport running every 15 minutes.

Sketchy. Jack unterweger and richard ramirez stayed here, elisa lam died here, don't come here unless you want to wake up to demons in your room

It was definitley the best experience yet! Rooms were decent and clean! Definitley the best price in town and right in the heart of LA definitely recommend!

Well I was here last week July. 31 2015 and to tell you the true I didn't know Elisa Lam body was found in the tank of water. Until I was searching for feed back on this Hotel that when I read Richard Ramirez lived on the top floor and slaughter his victims. Then Jack Unterweger also stay and murder three prostitus. I was in shock and also they change their name when it used to be call Cecil Hotel and now is call Stay on Main. Well where the hotel is located is a bad neighborhood but the bed where a joke they are like a toddlers bed the room was clean I spend $207 for one night and I got a room with two beds do to the fact they where going to charge me the same for one bed and not have a private restroom and with the two beds I was going to have my private restroom. For the price I pay I should gone to a better hotel they had fan not a cooler ac also the breakfast was a joke homeade waffles and cereal coffee and orange juice. Don't get me wrong the lobby is really nice just the rooms are small I bruise myself since the beds are small and close together now I m just waiting on my refund $50 since they charge me that in case I leave damages on the room. Seven days already pass let see what happens.

I'm not going to that hotel even if the end of the world comes. Many deaths have occurred, the most recent being that of Eliza Lam. Why was he hiding, from whom was he hiding, How did he get to the rooftop water tank, how he managed to open the door without sounding the alarm with whom he was fighting ... these are the questions that have not yet been resolved, and not only that. 2 murderers have also arrived at the hotel and there were many deaths there, I really don't know how the hotel has not been CLOSED OR CLOSED

The Cecil Hotel now called Stay on Main Hotel. Many serial killers have stayed at this hotel. Also in 2013 Elisa Lam mysteriously died here before being found in the water tank located on the roof. That many people have committed suicide here that the hotel was dubbed the suicide hotel. It is also supposedly haunted. Trying not to put visitors off staying just a little dark history.

This hotel is very good, more than anything, all the paranormal that has happened and like the case of the black dahlia, I recommend it 100 percent

People do ur research this place is trash. we had to up grade just to get a room with a bathroom in it and this room was just as trashy as the first one.there was no AC in the room and there was a musty smell. This was a classic case of false advisement because the pictures on the website is not what you get!! The only thing that was accurate about this hotel was the lobby. This is the was the worst hotel eexperience ever thanks to the airline package. Dont do it!!

Rooms are too hot. No AC. You have to share a bathroom with serial killers and demons.

I was so deceived I thought I was getting a great price for a hotel on a website. this hotel is located in the heart of the homeless population of Los Angeles called Skid Row,
not only that the homeless people told me "dont fall in the water well" and started laughing hysterically at me.... I had to look up water well and this hotel's name home to find out this hotel used to Hotel Cecil that several several several people were killed in , no wonder the water tasted so bad and why it had a smell to it ,I am now disgusted I have went to my doctor I am getting blood test urine test and all kind of task to make sure I have not contracted some sort of disease during my stay in this disgusting hotel. I cannot believe I was drinking dpecomposing human waste from the water well..

We were looking for a place to stay overnight, but thehe Stay on Main hotel was way too expensive. Past the nice entrance, the rooms are humid, have separate showers and bathrooms and the door handles and floors were sticky. There was no AC and only a portable fan and ceiling fan. The customer service was nice but not enough to compensate for the horrible living conditions.

Lots of young tourists. Watch out for roaches and bedbugs.

Perfect case just as a base. Near public transport, basic room. Free wifi. Rooms are basic, could do with up dating. No coffee/ tea making facilities in room. Basic breakfast included, consisting of cereal and waffles which are constantly replenished.

The hotel was very welcoming when you came in however the rooms were small and the area was definitely a little sketchy. I can't say much about service but from what I saw its decent. Check it out if you need a one night stay but if youre looking for somewhere with quality for multiple nights than look elsewhere.

AHS season five's "Hotel". Awesome to see, if you like dealing with the homeless situation. A good, and scary, place to see if you're a fan of the series. ***BE SAFE IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD**

It has an enchanted history that make it very very unique

The taste of the water was different, it was tastier! The elevator helps you a lot, it's kind of automatic. It has 4 swimming pools on the terrace, a little cramped but good, 110% safe. Oh, and there are companions in each room invisible, so you don't get bored, you know?

It's certainly a great hotel for it's price point. I found it pretty welcoming and clean. The rooms aren't so big, but they provide the essential needs. I recommend it for anyone looking to for an affordable place to spend the night.

Was very fun highly recommend going with your kids plus there s also 4 big Free water pools on the top of the hotel

Service was great! Creepy noises at night, and felt like I was being watched. Rooms were way too small. Based on the history of the Cecil Hotel, I was scared at first, but I kind of liked it overall. I learned the history of the Cecil (Elisa Lam), and it was scary. In conclusion, the food and service was great. Please put warnings on the noises! Make the rooms bigger. I was there 6 months ago, but I didn't want to write a review. As I said earlier, there have been many murders and sexual assults. I liked it a little, but it needs to improve.

Where can I begin to begin about this fantastic and all too unknown little gem in the heart of the city. Geared to the youthful backpacking traveler, Stay On Main (The Cecil) is a clean and affordable hostel/hotel conveniently located with access to simply everything. The staff has been nothing less then professional and the services which include housekeeping and fresh made waffles every morning are exceptional. Rooms range from dorm style shared situations to private rooms with showers and bathrooms. The front lobby is breathtakingly beautiful and includes ping pong and movies! The only problem I have with this establishment is that they won't let me make this my permanent home!

Excellent location, beautiful lobby but somewhat old rooms although very clean. Be careful when reserving the most economical rooms are if you bath, make sure you do as you wish.

This hotel horrifies the hell out of me as it is said to be a cover-up for a very deadly scheme having to do with eliminating innocent and aspiring people. It is a horrible and concealed government operation which already took the lives of countless innocents including Lisa Lam (which no one has been able to solve) and the famous Black Dhalia. It is run and controlled by the American government and situated in such a location very appropriately. Next door to it is where they are diligently trying to bring back to life the virus of Tuberculosis!! Under a different name and identity mind you, so as not to arouse suspicion...
