I didnt realize that i am stay in 1 of the creepiest hotel in U.s until a guy tried to check in room 1414 when I stood next to him. Googled stay on main history and... Surprised!!!
My wife booked a queen room with private bath, and i felt like I was sleeping in closet. There are plenty of bed bugs or something you dont know make you feel itchy. Horrible neighborhood. I was holding a $100 bill in my pocket and didnt dare to take it out to spend. The homeless people seems like they will eat you alive.
If you want to have a sleepless memorial night just stay there.
If not try to avoid it by any cost.

The whole place was fine, except for the water, tasted funny. I think it was the flavor additive I put. It was a cherry flavor, however the color was black. do not recommended the flavor additive and the hotel.

After staying there my first night I decided ti shower but the water going in my mouth tasted funny and had a discoloration

The water tastes like blood you also hear very strange things and finally the elevator closes 3 minutes later, I don't know why, but it's very scary

Very good! Nor did anyone die in this hotel, super good, even the best part is the public pools up there that to get there you just need to climb the stairs next to the windows ... nothing dangerous ... the elevator is very good too! You can trust!

It was incredible. I really like fear, as soon as I got there I had seen a rat on the side of the hotel and as I am a fan of these I went to see what I was doing. Upon arrival I saw the ground filled with blood or a reddish liquid. So I chased after the rat that had left behind the hotel and found a sewer that had the same reddish liquid that I had seen before, I quickly approached and looked for it since the rat had gotten inside and there was still a trail inside, I wanted Keep investigating but I heard a noise and I panicked, I ran away.

I just recently stated stay on there, I had a terrible sleep, kept hearing my door being knocked on, couldn't showea with the feeling of being watched, had the elivader constantly open, and a dripping wet lady kept walking infront of my room. terable

Stay on Main = Cecil hotel. They changed their name after a ton of sketchy things happened. The last of which was the really odd story of Elisa Lam. Really fishy if you ask me. I would not trust them with my hat, never mind anything more. How strange and suspicious that they would change their name....

This hostel is one of the worst if not the worst or I could stay! The staff is sorely lacking in manner and ethics! Believe me, invest elsewhere rather than in this one!

This hotel is disgusting. I booked two nights through Orbitz and was forced to check out and request a full refund after the fact. There are bed bugs here and I only know because I woke up with one on my shirt collar. Maybe some floors are new/renovated & clean while others are complete trash. The management / staff didnt give a crap when I brought the bug down to the front desk to show proof. Also, don't use the independent parking service next door.. He tried to pull one over on me and I was not having that. Look elsewhere it is DEFINITELY worth it.

How not to visit it after seeing the American Horror Story Hotel. The Cecil hotel has inspired the entire TV series. I only visited it but I knew I would have booked a room first. Highly recommended.

Stood here back in 2013 didn't even know the history and that it was cecil hotel. Got some eerie vibes while staying there. Staff was great seemed room was nice had no problems. Didn't know it was closed now but I didn't mind staying there

People should know this hotel / hostel has a long history of murders, sucides and serial killers. There was a Canadian female tourist died in the hotel's water tank while staying there a couple years ago. Also the hotel is in a very unsafe area near Skid Row downtown, lots of alcoholic, homeless and drug addicts.

Don't let the fancy lobby fool you, dirty horrible rooms. Used to be called Cecil Hotel. Do a google search if you even consider staying here.

I stayed one night and with that I had to cancel the rest of my nights, I did not read the description that said there is not air conditioning and has no bathrooms in each room, a few for each floor, it is not worth the almost 90 dollars you pay for night.

is a priceless experience, you will hear the police helichopter, you will meet the drugs dealers at the corners, i spend two nights and became a little bit more MAN jaja, please do your research before you stay at the CECILE, tthe service is kind of good, i do not try the breakfast, best of luck

Room was small. They made a bathroom. The shower was a corner of the bathroom. AWKWARD!!! The pictures are not true and correct. I booked a double bed room. I was really disappointed. I have to add that this is the same place a girl found dead In the cistern (water tank) on top of the building several years ago. :(

FYI to the traveler, don't be fooled by the name change. This is the Cecil Hotel. Yep THAT Cecil Hotel! Besides that; it was REALLY cool when I went to visit this last time, they were filming a movie and they kept setting the fire alarm off!

Its a really affordable and clean place to stay in downtown LA. Very convenient by bus or metro rail. As one can tell the area is in a state of transition. Ive hardly seen areas with boarded up buildings and expensive lofts on the same block. On one hand there are all kinds of restaurants and clubs that are near the hotel but on the other hand the area largely east of Main and especially Los Angeles Street is still Skid Row, which is very run down and a definite no go at night. Still the owners of Stay have done a 5 star job in turning around what was once one of LAs most notorious and dirty places of lodging!!!!!

I do not recommend. I saw and heard ghosts there. A haunted hotel.

Hidden gem outside of Los Angeles! Robert was extremely hospitable during our stay. Rooms were quaint, beds were comfy. Heard a little noise from the street but we were so tired from our day that it didn't bother us. Conveniently located, super close to Universal Studios and easy drive to Los Angeles CA. when there's no traffic.

Gave it to sleep 2 days, and you call and go there and get it understood kkkkk

Didn't get back my deposit. So, 50$ from each costumer, it's good deal! Extra money.

Low-cost, funky hotel. I stayed in a twin room with a shared bathroom, and the room had decent views.

Very minimal. Breakfast is included for all guests.

No frills hotel. Friendly and welcoming staff, decent rooms and a free breakfast. We booked online on the day and found a good deal but the walk-up rates are pretty steep. Downtown LA itself is horrible though so can't really recommend it as an area to stay.

I was here once because I heard people were dying to leave once they stayed a day.

Hauntingly nastalgic. Very creepy for people like us who are in to that.

The regular priced rooms are unbelievably tiny. In the single room space you will find a very old creaky bed, an old sink in the corner, a cabinet with a tv, and a decently small closet. If you're unlucky as I was, you will also get a window that looks directly at more windows and nothing else. Will never revisit.

Good for travelers on a budget.
Stayed multiple times, and just had to go elsewhere. You can hear everything in the hallways, especially the late night party people.
The rooms are basic, beds are not comfortable, and has not been renovated in years with the exception of a paint job. Breakfast was fine, typical cereal oatmeal, and fresh waffles.
No free parking, but there is a parking lot just to the side of the building with overnight parking.
Again if your looking to save money this is an option, maybe bring ear plugs and an eye mask, as the city light comes threw the windows, and police sirens run during the night.

Old hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The staff and the reception are very good, but it is a bit scary mainly at night (for those who did not know the center of LA at night it was full of homeless people and alcoholics) which seems insecure but it is not anymore. they do not pay attention to you they are in his, besides there are policemen traveling around there at all hours)
It gives a bit of chills but its location is very good, near the metro) and a few blocks from the places that this wonderful city offers.

Elisa lam, black dahlia, 2 serial killers, 3 suicides 1 with homicide, I do not recommend staying at the hotel.

Very average hotel in a bad part of town. The rooms are very small and the shared bathrooms are dark and dingy.There is no A/C, only fans to blow the hot air around. Generally unpleasant experience. And that's not even mentioning the hotel's morbid past...

Safety issues that are concerning. Not a good stay. Would never recommend. Honestly would love to get my money back but know that will never happen.

Good place to stay. Cheapest accommodation in the area, could be more centric but still close to many things to do, even the staples center and is the first acceptable place to sleep when coming from the greyhound bus station The room was a bit old but really comfortable and the reception and common areas are great

Dont go Out after dark something really bad could happen to you NO JOKE. The Staff at the front desk was beyond horrible. There is no way even 40.00 a night would be ok for this dump. Rooms where as big as a closet and some rooms dont even have bathrooms you half to use public ones in the hall way. What the hell??? If your a fool with no standards this is the place for you!

The service at the hotel is GREAT ... Also its downtown where everything is convenient and walking distant like stores and the metro etc ... On another note The hotel rooms are small and do not look like the pictures online !!! The rooms does not have a bathroom in them !! You have to use the bathroom and take a shower in the hall what they call a SHARED BATHROOM after other people , how gross very unclean. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone unless your cheap and this is the only thing that you will be able to afford or if you just dont care...

First off, they wouldn't let my friend who who was 17 stay in the hotel cause of underage. Even though we had both come a far way to get there. Then the showers wouldn't unlocked. The rooms are tiny, and no AC in the rooms. Never, ever going to stay there again.

The room is dirty. There are muffin, cereal, and coffee as breakfast. The bed has broken that I can't sleep well. You need wear earplug to avoid car sound, street sound and fire alarm.

This story is just like that Kenneka story that happen a month ago went into the crown plaza hotel in Rosemont Chicago and ended up dead in the freezer and they saying she closed herself in the freezer and just died a accidental death I'm not buying any that both of those girls were murdered.

very good hotel for the price, I booked by booking and I had a small room without bathroom, shower on landing but that doesn't really bother me, the breakfast is simple and good, for those who like to take there are More

This place is horrible. Please review before considering this hotel. The rooms stinks and water takes forever to become hot. The pressure of the shower was horrible, it was slow and takes very long for the water to become hot, if youre lucky enough. The room was too stuffy and too much things going on... i have so much things to say but the number one thing about this hotel is please make sure to read reviews before booking this hotel. but overall the staffs are friendly but the hotel it self is disgusting.

The water was black and green, and there were a lot of people walking in the hallway at 2 in the morning even though nothing is open till 6. Breakfast was like cardboard and gross.

NO BATHROOM - NO A/C - NO PARKING
BASICALLY A HOMELESS SHELTER

Its 1am and its 200 degrees F in my room. The heat and noise in the room next to me has kept me up.

The photos on the web site are not accurate. Room is tiny, filthy, no bathroom, no a/c, and one light hanging by a wire in the middle of the celing. I Think I am just going to cut my losses and leave tonight and check into another hotel.

This place is full of homeless, drug users, and hookers bringing their johns into rooms. I do not feel safe here at all.

And there is no parking. You have to park in a private lot next door for $25/day.

Bathroom/Showers are shared and located in the hallway. They are absolutely disgusting. Who in their right mind would go naked into a hallway shower that doesnt lock in this area of town. You would prob end up getting sexually molested or catching a desease.

Im now laying here in bed soaking wet in sweat and I heard yelling and screaming outside. Someone is now yelling for police! police!

I also did reseach online. The friggin place has had murders and suicides and in 2013 they found a dead girl in the water supply tank and the place is supposedly haunted.

Screw this Im outta here! Getting my bags and leaving. Its an oven in here, crime ridden, and ghosts. Bye.

Generally good service. People are only making it seem like a bad hotel because someone died in it. That wasn't their fault.

Hotel okay for one night, but not for more. Price-performance okay, rooms clean, but you should be careful not to get out of the freeway, even the street in front of the house is loud enough. Breakfast minimal.

Scary, sketchy, great service workers though. Hostel like enviroment. Bad electricity, small, etc
