This repulsive building hungers for people to come to it to pry upon their minds in the night. The staff knows the dark history yet refuses to ever comment on deaths of innocents that went unsolved. As far as Im concerned the place is evil and a beacon for evil and negativity. The staff refuses to allow camera work and will remove anyone from the building who tries, proof they are hiding secrets they want no evidence of it uncovered. It is strange considering its possibilitity at an interesting history which could attract tourists but instead they pretend they can sweep it under the rug. The disrespect for what has happened there as they try to hide it is repulsive. The building needs serious help by spiritual professionals and to allow new people to stay here in its current state and to mask it like its a brand new great place to be, is sick. Remember Elisa and remember that these people want it covered up. Also the safety must be terrible considering they had 3 cameras with security footage and had no method of locating her because they are idiots that dont set up what is needed for a hotel safety and survelience. Love and light to anyone who goes there and is bogged by the locations energy. Please get the help needed for this location before inviting people in further for the love of pete your building is energetically messed up hardcore, it aint no myth.

First of all, the hotel has been closed for a few years, so anyone saying they've stayed there recently is lying. Second of all, stop making remarks about the water! All of you jerks sound like you are making fun of how Elisa Lam died and that's not cool at all! Let her RIP and let her family be at peace. We obviously know this was no accidental drowning! I would love to visit here though and just be a part of history.

I stayed here a couple of months ago, I saw on the news that they found a dead body in the water tank! When I stayed here it took forever to get the water to become warm, and it looked like a hostel than a hotel; but what can I say the rooms were cheap at under $80 a night in Los Angeles. Also its not in that nice of an area... I would stay away.

In truth the hotel is perfect except for the fact that there are indecent views in the windows and the mattress has not been cleaned for like three years.
I recommend the hotel to Santiago Abascal, surely it will be good for you to take a break from so much Spanish in such a cozy place.

I usually stay at the Westin but I stayed here for a week when I was on a tight budget. You get a lot for your money. I had a nice sized private room with a sink. The bed was extremely comfortable and I enjoyed the tv and wifi. The bathroom was shared on the floor. There were plenty of shared bathrooms on this floor and if they were occupied it was convenient to go up or down a floor so no bad tales here. The shower was a bit small, but it was clean and central to the floor. The shared kitchen on my floor was very clean and convenient and every morning I had complimentary breakfast downstairs. I was in total bliss! Plus, I was close to the rail to ride and buses were always available.
Stay here if you're on a budget and you won't be disappointed.

Well positioned in downtown Los Angeles, Cecil was a hotel that charged prices far below its competitors. This attracts people from the lower classes and those with bad intentions, so over time this has become the profile of their customers.
Over time, bad stories were added, such as murders, suicides, rapes, etc.
Trying to get rid of bad reputation and rumors, he changed his name, but it is the same hotel.

We booked this hotel not knowing the gruesome history behind him ... despite being a bit 'disturbing, inside it is not bad for the price it has. small, clean room, very old with dark brown walls and a blue aviator who do not explain ... being in downtown Los Angeles and at a strategic point to move can go to spend a night. Outside the hotel the neighborhood is horrible, but the smell of pee and the like accompanied us from downtown to the airport. It is advisable to respect the curfew.

Hello...McBride? This is where Elisa Lam was found in the water tank! Look it up. It took the "hotel" 3 weeks before they told guests that they were drinking corpse water. I also wanted to add that I'm a bit skeptical on some of these 3, 4 and 5 star reviews. The hotel is on L.A.'s Skid Row and the lobby is full of homeless people a lot times. Add to that, the fact that L.A. is in the middle of Hep A outbreak. (Just don't stay here!) Either the guests that stay here have never stayed in a nice hotel before in a nice area, or, they're ok with staying in a dump.

Price is worth for the proximity of the center. But what I didn't like was that room service came into my room. I didn't like it. Especially since I had the do not disturb sign on the door.

If you want to go back to college this is the place for you. The bathrooms are in the hallways, there are twin beds and the sink and mirror are literally in the shower. Doesn't look too clean either.

I stayed at this hotel and when I opened the door to my room it immediately hit the bed lol. No space what so ever. But a few fun facts about this hotel: it is super creepy, some people actually live there, about two serial killers have lived there before like Richard Ramirez aka the night stalker, multiple people have jumped off a few floors and last but not least this is where Elisa Lam drowned in the water tank- How did she end up in the water tank? No one knows, not even hotel staff . It has a college dorm room feel aside from all the druggies living there too but the rooms look nothing like the pictures...happy stay!

I stayed briefly in the winter of 2016, but unlike the booking site, my first impression was gloomy.

Apparently, I turned off the TV, but when I came back, the TV volume was turned up to the maximum... Sooreum... Someone told me that I raised the TV volume like that. It was our room.

When I searched Google for some reason, it was hotel ceicil... I stayed up all night with my eyes open, peeing on the sink, shaking off the moon, and then checked out immediately

The two of us paid 50 dollars a night for our own room, which was the cheapest one far and wide. The rooms are ok, the area is of course not the prettiest, but how should I put it, authentic. Of course, you should inquire about the past beforehand (Wikipedia is sufficient), which will probably be one of the reasons for the low prices.

I am only giving this hotel 1 star because you cannot give it 0 stars. This is the dirtiest hotel I have ever been to. After I checked in to my room, I went back to the front desk to get a refund and they did not give me money back. I was in the room for less than 5 minutes! They claim to have newly refurbished rooms, but the room I was given had a window screen with many holes, the bathtub had not been finished, and the whole room was dirty and very dingy. There was no effort that I could detect of any refurbishing.

Do not stay here at any cost.

Very nice staff. The rooms are also good and it is very pleasant to live there. I do not understand the bad reviews partly. Yes, there were some murders earlier and in 2013 a girl was found drowned there. But where is the safe life today? Right, nowhere !! You can not talk bad about a hotel because of such events. There were and always will be crazy people. In 2015, a madman in Morocco walked on the beach near the hotels Amok and killed many people. Are the hotels therefore worse? No

Ik this is long.. But please read..First of all this place is majorly not even worthy enough to at least get a negative star to begin with.. Its over priced please I beg any of you to read the comments and take them very seriously .. It's no LIE.. My experience at this health harzard place is extremely unbelievable.. When I arrived the man name (Jeremy) sounds convencing for u to stay.. He said there was only 3 rooms left which is b.s the floors empty.. Then as u make ur way to ur room u find yourself sharing bathrooms and showers being shared with all other guest..than to make it better there is no (air conditioning) what so ever. Only a celing fan plus a room fan..very hot in the rooms.. I'm pregnant I couldn't sleep and very dehydrated no ice machine anywhere .. I called and talk to Jeremy to hear that he was he wasnt convinced to give my money.. I was ready to faint I asked for 911 to be called they did but out of his mouth to hear its a waist of time only the manager can fix this.. they even knew how long it takes people to sweat 15 mintues and its not the first time they hear complaints they just want the place to make $46million .. Than thru all this the paramedics told me this is the worst hotel known and this is not the first time they been called from the hotel.. They dont recommend and tell people to not stay here.. Not even animals.. Call 911yourself and asked them about this place .. No joke..u will be freshier with the bums. Peopke save yourself from hell please

isnt this the hotel where that asian woman died of mysterious circumstances? they changed the name to stay on main, its previously known as cecil hotel. do your own research before visiting this hotel. they probably made a bunch of fake accounts to give this hotel 3 stars reviews. they deserve none. if you want to know more, research cecil hotel.

I think its extremely disrespectful that so many people are writing reviews saying the water tastes bad etc. Elisa Lam mysteriously and tragically passed away in 2013. The water tanks are no longer contaminated. She was a real woman who really died have a little respect before you write a trash review on a business based on your twisted horror fantasies. A lot has happened here, it is sad yes but a beautiful place with lovely customer service none the less. I have not been here, but I have done extensive research on this place and the events around it. I am sure they do not need some actual prepubescents writing silly petty reviews as if this is a youtube comment section. So politely, grow up, have some respect for the dead and have some respect for a business trying to thrive.

I stayed here in 2017. I was attending a concert in LA. It was small and there was no bathroom in the room. It was strange to have to go down the hall to shower. I never saw anyone else other than when I checked in and out. I didn't know this was The Cecil. After I left a friend told me and I thought it was cool afterwards. I dont think I would stay here knowing lol I would be too scared! The area is a bit sketchy but not too bad. It close to the train station...walking distance.

They found a dead body in the water cistern here...people were drinking and showering with water that a decomposing body was soaking in. Not to mention 2 serial killers have stayed here and is in the middle of SKID ROW where bums will accost you..

OK, Lets leave some feed back here. I booked on line at 65.00 and the program gave me the wrong day. When I changed the day to the very next day mind you, it jumped 10.00. That was before taxes as well! Today as I leave feed back Google map displayes the correct price and I was wondering if there is a way for the google program to display prices based on cookies on my computer ? Who knows, google is out of control in that department. So anyways, I booked with a shared bathroom. I got into the LA area around 2 am and let me tell you this ..... it is scary in this location. I am talking 3rd world crap! To top it all off, No Frackin parking availible. I paid 15.00 to park the car from 2 am until 7 am. My god this "Cheap" room is getting expensive now.... So I check in, and the customer service was fine. Very nice people at the counter if I do say so. I get a 12th floor room, and make my way up. Lets talk about this bathroom now. The bathroom was not just shared ! The bathroom was Army style - 10 more points. One shower stall in the hallway and one bathroom stall for the entire floor ! What is this ? Shared my A$$. Shared bathroom in the army is like a bathroom per two rooms, and an entire latrine for a barraks. I think the advertisment needs to say "Good luck getting into the bathroom"! Ok, so that bathroom situation really sucks. Now, there is a door connecting me and the room next to me. Security issue ? Maybe ? Noise issue ? Hell yeah! This guy snored a storm! This was just crazy. Spend your money and go to a real hotel. The cheap gets expensive ! I give this place two thumbs down and a fart!

Was walking by and This creepy guy started whistling at me trying to get my attention. With all the s*** that happens at that hotel like the murders and that one chick that ended up at the water tower, no. If you guys didn't know this used to be the Cecil Hotel. If you don't know about it Google it.

They should have made this a murder mystery destination hotel. Return it to its glory in the 1920s/1930s. Then charge an arm and a leg to reenact a murder mystery, either one of the real murders at the Cecil, or others. Get actors to act it out, have guests be the investigators, and charge a fortune. But now we have lost another great example of the artdeco styling.

I FOUND A SYRINGE IN THE TOILET when I was a point to use the toilet, it touched my hand and now nobody is responsible in case of something happens to me. The General Manager Amy Price is out of the town apparently and the Desk Manager can't give a letter saying the hotel is responsible for what happens today. They suggested to move to another room, go to hospital or look for another hotel but they are not paying my hospital bills or anything else. They give me a key to check a new room all by myself. Disgusting staff. We decided to take it with the police.

Great place in great location. Nice 2bed rooms (though a bit too small). Hostel rooms are with bunk beds, but there can be only one bed in a quite huge room, so chances are you'll have a room for your own.
Continental breakfast is, well, continental :)

Hello. I haven't been here before but I believe that you guys should stop bringing down this company just because of Elisa Lam (paying respects to her, Rest In Peace). Yes, I believe that they should come clean about the past, but they decided to change their name because they did not want to associate themselves with their history. Thanks.

Stay in April 2009.

I would never go back here, really. The photo they offer on the Internet from the Cecil Hotel entrance is a farce. Reception of cardboard-stone that hides some corridors of access to rooms that seem to be taken from prisons, discreet rooms with a shabby bathroom (do not even ask to ask for a room WITHOUT a bathroom, trust in the hygiene of common bathrooms is crazy), some very peculiar hotel tenants with whom I would try not to cross at night, a Downtown Los Angeles painful as an environment, full of vagabonds and women of dissolute life (remarkable and picturesque is the bar 24 hours next to the parking, - by the way, the parking does NOT belong to the hotel, but you can negotiate a total price for leaving the car with the manager) ...

They have the habit of putting a perennial musical thread in all the corridors heard from inside the rooms, even late at night. Take earplugs, since at the suggestion of downloading the music, the receptionist on duty passed olimpically from us. Another day, we found that we could not open the door of our room, and that is that there was another security lock that someone had closed and from which we did not have the key ... luckily, there was no brown, although I already feared that something had flown, taking into account the appearance of some customers who lived there. As good aspects, the Wi-Fi on the ground floor and the cafeteria attached to the hotel, which serves to take a good snack (without fuss, of course) before the tourist day.

In short, if you are something prissy, but do not want to leave the goose, flee as the plague of this hotel and resort to a motel as an economic option, or the Queen Mary Hotel, although it is in Long Beach, is a very good option. My partner and I make the most of the time in L.A. thanks to the fact that we avoided at all costs spending time at the Cecil Hotel.

You get what you pay for, right? And for what we paid, it's really not that bad. The guys at the front desk are friendly, and even though the building is old and doesn't have AC, the room comes with a fan to stay cool.
We didn't feel safe at first but we got used to the simplicity of the room, which had its own toilet but shared shower. The bed is comfortable and clean enough to sleep on. The lobby is pretty lively as they're always playing music and lots of other young people stay at this hotel.
For breakfast, it's always waffles lol
Downsides to staying here: the location isn't that safe, the streets of downtown smell like piss, the wifi is slow, and sometimes the key cards stop working.

Too scary to haunt I really do not recommend to spend a single night, it feels to observe in his room, the corridors serious bottom freaking noise bee.
A hotel very MODIIIIII but really if you do not want to sleep and stayed awake because the eyes fixed us, the water ran black never seen when I was going to take a picture the water is clear again a sick thing he wrong to really live it to realize the danger.

I got the best room they had to offer. It was tiny and completely overpriced. There was blood on the towels in the bathroom. Their clientele is mainly comprised of vagabonds. The breakfast they serve was ok though. I'll never stay here again
