Love love love this place! The food is fantastic and the ambiance is very snazzy. While the place is kinda dark, you can still see your food and that's what matters because it looks as good as it tastes! Try the short rib (it just melts in your mouth) and for dessert, the passion fruit meringue. You will not be disappointed!

When you sit in the dining room try to sit in a dark corner because trust me you are going to want to actually lick your plate and it might be embarrassing if someone sees you. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

I would give it a 5 for the fun classy atmosphere and cool interior design, but docking a star for the food and price. Maybe I m just not a huge fan of quasi-Japanese food given my Japanese background, but let s just say some of the dishes were interesting. It s like a mix between French food and Japanese food (also some Chinese and other Asian food but we ordered mostly Japanese food like sashimi) and if you re a fan of that, you will love this place. It s definitely a place you make a reservation for when you want to impress people.

The food was excellent. The service was terrible. Our appetizer came out after our entree. Our server never asked how the food was or offered to refill our drinks. It was an overall disappointing experience.

After a very disappointing experience at Gotham, we cut our losses and fled after cocktails. While we sipped cocktails at Gotham, we scrolled through our phones for another destination. We scored a last minute rez to Buddakan and ran. At Buddakan, we had apps in the bar as we waited for our table. The bar was loud and we were a little nervous that we made yet another mistake. However, our apps were so fabulous that we couldn't wait for dinner. The restaurant was much quieter than the bar. Every single dish was on point. Well balanaced, delicious, and interesting. Our server, Chloe, was knowledgeable, friendly, and fun.

Very good food but service more than exceptional, despite the friendliness of the waiter who tried to explain the menu in French. Disappointed with the location of our table completely isolated from the rest of the restaurant, at the price of the dishes I expected at least a goodbye when leaving the restaurant, but not even ..

Let's start with the amazing decor of this establishment. The decor is rather lavish and beautiful (something I love).

We had reservations but we were not seated right away. The dining area is downstairs -- We were kept upstairs for about 20 minutes with the option of ordering drinks while we wait.

Once we were seated our waiter brought us menus and we quickly began ordering to satiate our starving bellies. I feel like the food is definitely not a 10. I'd say it's probably close to a 6. The edamame dumplings literally made us gag. It tasted like dust, sandpaper and cement. No kidding.

The black cod was incredible. Really really fresh and tasty, perfect seasoning. The best part was dessert. I loved the plating and absolutely loved the dishes.

The restaurant is definitely Manhattan trendy, but I'd faster go to TAO for some yummy food.

The decor of this place outshines everything else, including the food. The ambiance is rather dark which portrays the feel of a night club. Perhaps a cool place to stop by on a night out when you're craving for some finger food.

Dont understand why anyone would give this place 5 stars! I give this place 1 star because the servers are professional and attentive. Thats the only positive. Couldnt hear myself talk because of the loud club music! Couldnt see the menu without a flashlight! Couldnt even see what I was eating! Felt sick an hour later! Way too pricey! Worst eating experience! What a joke! Seriously! Most of these reviews have to be fake! I guess with the money they are making, ripping suckers off they have more than enough money to pay for reviews!

Very good restaurant. Food was very good and service as well. Not the cheapest place in the city but very good quality. Was there for dinner with work and we ordered the family menu. It was more than enough!

I have been here twice and each time it was ah-mazing! The first time was dinner and drinks with a girlfriend. This last time was for my big birthday bash (party of 12, mind you). Both experiences were great. Here's what you must, must try: lobster egg rolls (yes, decadent and worth every penny), edamame dumplings (sounds simple but tastes extraordinary), Miso cod (people rave about this and I'm proudly one of them) and finish your meal with the banana bread pudding (I'm not a huge dessert person, but this is bomb). Finally the cocktails are also a treat as well, but I tend to stick with their "Fate" concoction and find myself struggling to try anything else. Also, for my bday bash, we had some dietary restrictions as well as folks uninterested in the prix-fixe yet the waitress was very accommodating and made the night all the better. Great place if you want to do it up in Chelsea.

Trendy place really essential for who wants to dine and spend a good evening. A little charge on prices but quality appointments at the level of dishes. Overall, everything was good but a bit cold, too bad .....

A little pricey, but definitely worth it if you ve been saving up for a nice night out! The atmosphere is so cool; dim lighting, high ceilings, modern architecture. I took my husband here for his birthday (asian food is his favorite) and he can't stop talking about it to this day. The Pork Potstickers and General Tso's Dumplings (my mouth is watering already...) were to die for!

Overpriced, overrated hip restaurant where you pay $17 for fried noodles to be among the instagram influencers , listening to way too loud music.

Everything you pay for is for the large and overdone ambience and hip loud music, where they should pay more attention making sure the food actually is worth the ridiculous prices.

Will not be returning.

Excellent upscale Asian Fusion.

We loved the ambiance, the service and the food. And great location too - right next to Chelsea Market.

The portions are small but the food is great so we ended up ordering a lot. Everything we tried was great the dumplings (which were the juicy kind), Lobster & Shrimp Lo Mein, the Duck Fried Rice, Mongolian Lamp Chops and two kinds of fish - both the fish dishes here were extremely good.

The decor with the high ceiling was classy. The service was excellent and non-intrusive.

Absolutely amazing. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was on another level! We had the pork buns, the carrot dumplings, the short rib (big enough to share between 2 people) and the Asian stir fry greens. Really tasty! The atmosphere was awesome too. Loved the dim lighting and the overall vibe. Very New York!

Delicious Asian fusion! I came here New Year's Eve with my boyfriend's family and enjoyed it very much. They closed at 11pm then we went somewhere else. It is a little expensive, but for a special occasion it's fine.

Nightmare place. Okay, so I saw all the rave reviews and decided to try it. I travel all over and have been to some of the best places in NY, London and Paris. This place did not rank amongst the highlights! I cannot attest for the food as I did not get that far. Though I had a reservation, I was treated as if I were trying to crash the place! When I finally provided proof that I did indeed have a reservation, I was told to have a seat in the lounge and wait. Wait I did! No one came by for at least ten minutes so I approached the bar where a frazzled bartender ignored me. Finally I spotted a host and asked about my table and was told I just had to wait or get a drink at the bar. When I asked for a menu I informed by a snarky wannabe host they are for the restaurant. This place is a meet up hole where aspiring models and wannabe trendy twelve-year-olds that want to be seen hang out. If you are truly wealthy and sophisticated go to Vabella instead! This place is a hole!

All I can say is WOW. From the time we walked into the door until we left we felt welcomed. It was our anniversary and the staff was always wishing us a happy one. Our server, Calvin, was exceptional and one of the best servers I've ever encountered. Then there's the food. It was fantastic. I had the Kung Pao Monkfisk which was well presented and had wonderful flavor. The Lobster Egg Rolls were also very good. Yes, this place is a bit pricey but in my opinion worth ever single penny. I can't wait to go back.

This is another place I was a little obsessed with. I guess I would classify it as Chinese Fusion. The appetizers are *amazing*, especially the edamame dumplings, and most of the entrees are very, very good. I also liked the mixed cocktails and (all Italian) desserts. The main detriment is the price. It is in the meat packing, and you are most definitely paying for the atmosphere (very pretty, modern) and chicness. Now that I've been here a few times and the novelty has worn off, I'm a bit undecided whether it is worth the price. It doesn't help that less fancy, but still delicious Chinese food is easily available for super cheap.

RUDE FRONT DESK STAFF !annoyed with the front desk staff at this place we where told to sit at the lounge and waited over and hour and a half and never even got seated and never even got checked on and we had a reservation and when my husband went to the front desk to ask how much longer it would be the girl at the front said well weren't you late with a sarcastic little attitude, mind you we was only like 20 mins late, as well the only one who had the curtesy to check on us was a girl who was serving us drinks at the lounge walked out and went to Tao right across the street which was double as packed and we was accommodate with in less then 10 mins and the food was AMAZING !

Since they keep removing the one star...Great food but horrible experience. Girlfriends Sea Bass had a hair in it and my steak was undercooked. About 2 hours later became violently ill with vomiting and horrible diarrhea for the next day and a half. Will not visit again.

Amazing beautiful atmosphere, dark and intimate. This is a place to take someone you want to impress. The decor is lush and decadent, the good is totally impeccable. They cater to any dietary requirements and really do an amazing job. Our server was very attentive and we didn't even pick our food. She asked our diets then suggested a beautiful meal... that just kept coming! The crispy tofu was phenomenal! The food was inventive and surprising. The pea shoot salad is not to miss!

Not a place for small children, very pricey, good for dates or business, very very good!

Actually the best Chinese food I have ever eaten in my life. The staff were brilliant. They took the time to stay and chat with us explaining the service, talking through various dishes and offering helpful suggestions to our large and raucous party of nearly 20. They had a great cocktail and spirits selection and we definitely worked our way through most on the menu. They even tailor made us some cocktails based on the celebration (wedding party on the eve before the big day)....I couldn't begin to tell you what they were, only that they were so good and a little too easy to drink down. I not only recommend this to anyone that loves food (and those that don't) but also to Sex and the City fans as this restaurant appeared in the first Sex and the City movie (so I am told by the wife ).

This is an ideal spot for a big corporate dinner. The place is ~massive~ and has large tables that can fit any size group (we had 26) and the menu is so expansive that even though it is Asian, it fits every dietary restriction and preference.

The drinks were stiff, the food was authentic and the ambiance tied it all together. Book this place for your next client dinner.

Expensive but totally worth it. A beautiful, dramatic room with perfect date night lighting! They have a huge communal table but plenty of smaller ones too. The food is very good: All your favourite Chinese restaurant dishes but done in a very modern, high end way. Every dish we had was delicious and beautifully presented. Try the steak in birds nest and the crab toast (trust me, it s incredible). Service was solid, if slightly stretched. Perhaps they were unexpectedly busy that night. All round, an excellent restaurant.

Food was great, staff was great, decor extraordinary. Decor different than Philadelphia and AC which both are great in as different way. Crispy cakamare salad available in Philadelphia not NYC!

Went here for my birthday back in early January. It s a great place for having dinner with a large group if you re looking for an upbeat atmosphere. We enjoyed the food, cocktails were great. Only down side is I felt as though we were misled by the waitress about how much food to order for the table. We ended up with SO many leftovers which was kind of disappointing since we couldn t take them with us as we were heading out afterwards. Otherwise, it was definitely a great and unique experience.

I went in here last year for an Uber eats delivery pickup , and I could say it was the most surreal and disturbing place I ve been in. Who the fk wants to eat at a table with a rams head as a candle.

Das beste Restaurant ever!

Das beste Restaurant ever!

Buddakan is definetly one of the best restaurants I ve ever been to. It s really pricey but so worth it! All the dishes we ve tried were just perfect. As a starter I highly recomend Edamame Dim Sum - so so tasty! As already mentioned this place is quite expensive, but it s an amazing location for a special occaision - we ve celebrated my birthday there and would love to come again!

Cool
