Other than overpriced tickets, there is little to fault about the SSE Hydro as a venue. The floor is a decent size and the view and sound tend to be good quality from the seats - even the top tier. There are a reasonable number of toilets, there is a free to use cash machine on site and there are plenty of food and merchandise stalls (though queues at these can be brutal at one or the other depending on the gig). All in all, I would easily rate it 5 stars if ticket prices were not double the other venue prices in Glasgow.

Visited there just recently for the strictly tour, not keen on the layout of the place though it is too high so when you are seated on the top level the performers appear small so you have to rely on those big screens dotted about which kind of defeats the purpose. What i will say though the staff are brilliant, i suffer from vertigo and i had problems getting to my seat which was on the third level, so my daughter went and spoke to someone a really lovely gentleman who came and helped me and the other young man who made sure i was okay to sit where i was but if i couldn't have managed they would have tried to get me an alternative seat. This was a Christmas gift and the person did not know about my condition. So hats off to the staff. Building on the other hand needs a bit of a revamp, more lifts and toilets closer to your seating are also better queue control

This is a fantastic venue with excellent facilities. The public toilets are clean and tidy and there are many, many food and drinks stands around the building. Unfortunately the choice of food and drink is very limited, don't expect anything remotely healthy, and these tend to be expensive but no more than any other arena.
The seating is quite comfortable and there is an adequate amount of leg room. However, if someone wants to get out of the row be prepared to stand up to let them by. Also the rows can be very long in some areas so if you are in the centre seats and need to continually get out to buy food or drinks or to go the bathroom be prepared to disturb a good number of people.
You can get a good view in the lower stands but I wouldn't recommend going above the first tier if you want to see clearly. Anything higher and you'll feel like you are very far away from the stage.
There are a variety of transport links but the surrounding areas are almost entirely restricted parking so it can be difficult to find free on street parking within a reasonable walking distance, especially during the day. Do your research on what will suit your party best before travelling.

I went with my partner to see Florence & The Machine who were superb by the way. But my moan is about the lateness of bloody many ticket holders who come to find their bloody seats after the lights go down. Places like the SSE Hydro should stop people finding their booked seats and spoiling the enjoy ment of others who have to stand and let the late punters find their seats when the lights go down. So next time get time get your seats first forget about the food or drink order

Well layed out building other than the seating, we we in the middle row which means your boxed in, i have a 3 year old so had to go to the toilet with home during the show, well there's no way out other than making a whole row of people stand for which I recieved some glaring stares. Everything else was great though, friendly staff, free wifi, good acoustics.

Not very pleased as staff had asked if my boyfriend could sit the rest of the show with his jacket on as some embarrassment of a person complained about his top I don't find this right at all and it's absolutely embarrassing if you ask me stuff need to grow up and put immaturity aside

Good for a music venue, sound wise, but in every other respect it is shambles. Over 50 minutes late at opening the doors... while it was raining... costs are astronomical for rubbish food and drink and the crowd management is utter nonsense. I was sitting on the seat directly beside the stairs but was forced to consistently walk the long way round for no clear reason... sometimes I was allowed to use the stairs and other times (on the same night) I wasn't?!! Pathetic.

We went to see Nick Cave, who is an amazing song writer, musician and knows how to hold his audience captive.
However I prefer to see him perform in smaller venues as that suits his style of music and craftsmanship better.
Wouldn't bother with the hydro again, too big,too far away and lacking personality.

Excellent venue for concerts. Food stalls and outlets are very expensive and queues are ridiculous as you would expect from most venue sites. Toilets are always smelly and in a poor state of cleanliness. The building its self puts on an excellent colour show at night from the outside.

great sound and that's what counts. if you are in the cheap seats whatever you are going to see is basically a dot and you are so high you can get a nosebleed. Food and drink service is quick. Parking is extortionate but okay if there are four in the same car and car park staff get you out quickly.

I've been in much better venues, but this is an upgrade from the old Hall 4 at the SECC. Always looonngg queues for a pint, no matter if ore gig or during the gig, its so slow. I've always found the staff to be unpleasant to rude at best.

Went with my Wife to see Boyzone here, great venue that holds around 10,000 people. Great sound with easy access to and from your seats. Bars and food outlets available in the main foyer. Very easy to get too and from Glasgow city centre where we were staying, only 2 stops on the train. There are also a number of hotels around the Hydro if you prefer staying nearby. Overall great experience and would go back to watch other bands.

Brilliant venue for Gigs, staff were helpful enough as people arrived, but they got a bit pushy at the end - telling folk that they had to leave when all some folk wanted to do was wait until the crowds died down a bit. Some of us are not too steady on our feet and don't like being jostled.
