By far the most enjoyable and interesting museum I have ever been to. The Brunel museum was fantastically interactive and creative. You also get to visit as many times as you like during the year on your 'ticket'.

Absolutely amazing. Be prepared to spend at least an hour or more here. There is lots to see. The trust has done an excellent job, and a lot of hard work, but it certainly pays off. Keep up the good work.

A most careful and doubtless expensive restoration of this beautiful ship. A lot of thought has gone into recreating the environment that the passengers and crew experienced. There is a great deal to see and it will take some hours to go round. Make sure you don't miss all the side exhibits. Adults and older children will be very interested in this - might be too much and boring for younger ones. Recommend get there by park and ride.

Visited the SS Great Britain with friends on the 11th Sept. It is without doubt one of the best exhibitions l have been to. It's access all areas, the staff are knowledgeable and very helpful. We got to see Brunels (father and son)diaries from the archives. Such an interesting must see, plus our tickets allow us to return again within a year, so we will be coming back again .

Far more than just an old ship! We took a large number of scouts who loved exploring the museums and the ship itself. While we visited a small group of Circus performers displayed regularly. This museum will take far longer than you expect!

Really enjoyed this beautiful example of British engineering , to read the history of this lovely ship is firstly quite sad then uplifting as you track her final voyage from the Falkland Islands back to where the story all began . Now displayed in all her glory ! Well done to everyone who has played a part in restoring this beautiful giant now back where she belongs . If you visit Bristol do not miss out on the chance to relive years of history and to pay tribute to this great monument .

I visited the S.S Great Britain early May 2019....very informative and well worth a visit. It also brought out the character of Brunel who is an interesting character. There ia also a really good show on how the old lady got back to Bristol...her home port....for those of adventurous nature...you can also scale the rigging

Must visit in Bristol.
Boat that marked an era t very complete museum that allows us to understand what it meant in its time.
Seeing it calmly requires at least a couple of hours since you can visit the boat both inside and out.

In short, this is a superb attraction, I think the best in Bristol, well in the top 5 for the South West and well worth the entrance fee. Quality wise it rivals and at times exceeds larger attractions such as HMS Victory / Royal Navy Historic Dockyard.

The long, it has been a couple of years since I last visited the SS Great Britain and on those previous visits the ship itself had always impressed me, but now the entire experience from the moment you walk in to buy your ticket to the moment you leave is extremely impressive. I would go so far to say the experience rivals, and at times exceeds that offered by larger attractions such as the Royal Navy Dockyard / HMS Victory in Portsmouth.

The experience for us started when we entered as we were greeted by Brunel played by an actor who reminded me of Brunel crossed with Eddie Redmayne. I see a potential movie there!

The museum you enter before boarding the ship is very impressive with lots of interactive exhibits which kept two children of 8 engaged for quite some time. Just before boarding the ship you have the opportunity to select a card representing a member of the crew, or a passenger which gives you things to look for on the ship and when you are finished you can find our what happened to that particular person.

Of course the preservation of the ship will always be ongoing but the quality of the work now is truly startling, and as you walk around the ship you meet members of staff, some of which in period dress who give you information about the area your are in. In addition you'll see quite realistic mannequins so you are never quite sure if a person is real or not when you first encounter someone!

The recently opened Brunel museum on the opposite side of the ship is really interesting with lost of interactive exhibits including an opportunity to recreate the famous picture of Brunel standing with top hat in front of a ships chain, a rocking train carriage demonstrating his wide gauge of railway and the mind of Brunel which is a 6 minute '4D' movie with smoke/steam released in to the room when a train appears. Bit intense for the younger visitor but very well done. On exiting this theatre you enter a recreation of his design office and meet a character in period dress who walks you around the room explaining key points. All very well done and the kids enjoyed it.

Would recommend this for a good 3-5 hours, combine that with the surrounding Bristol docks and you have a full day.

So wonderful to see how the old ship has been preserved. Very good layout of the site and pretty much accessible to all. The amount that has been achieved is amazing. It does cost quite a lot but I think it is worth it, and you can visit again for the year, free of charge.

Truly wonderful. When I visited it was Christmas time and they had this wonderful foam snow machine running. The costumed staff were a treat, giving information in character of whatever we were looking at. The ticket being for a year was a surprise, even if it weren't the price was well worth it.

Visited here on Saturday with partner and child, all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Also climbed the rigging for a wonderful view of Bristol! Great day out, plenty to occupy all ages, informative and interesting. Current promotion allows you to re-visit for free for a year after paying once. Highly recommended.

It really doesn't look so from the outside but it's good 2-3 hours of walking around and getting immersed in the history of the ship. Which is very well shown too, with passenger stories and even adequate smells in certain parts of the ship.

One of the best museums in the uk. Full of things to look at and read, loads of stuff to touch and feel, I can't wait to take my kids there! Will have such fun with the toilets and mannequins! On a serious note...a buitifull ship full of amazing history and the Brunel building was also well laid out with an awesome video depiction of the way Brunel was thinking. Well done SS Great Britain staff and owners. A1!!!
