We had a fantastic weekend.my grandchildren have not stopped talking about it.
Would fully recommend to everyone of all ages. Interesting and really fun. Reasonably priced and year round passes as standard.
Amazing museum. A fantastic story to behold. The drive of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the story of the ship from start to finish is superb and well told. The addition of the Being Brunel museum adds even more. Terrific day out.
New satchel thing is cool. Good way to make it interesting.
Didnt actually go on board as were passing by although friendly staff let us in for a quick photo.
Not overloaded with information, but really informative and varied.
Inside it like a wax museum tells the story of a ship's story
Unmissable. Great work from the guys who set this boat museum up.
Great place to visit and lots to learn going around it
Not being a major ship enthusiast I was a little hesitant but was looking for something for my wife and i to do whilst visiting Bath. Wow .... we were not disappointed in the slightest. What a fabulous day out with absolutely loads to do on site including a museum and the Isambard centre as well as going on the SS Great Britain for a very long walk around. They have done a great job of capturing how lufe would have been on board back in the 1800s and i could have stayed a lot longer but the day was running out. Dont miss this if you are looking for something to do.
Excellent visitor experience - lots to see and do for all ages and interests.
Extremely well presented and very knowledgeable volunteers
Very friendly staff and was great looking round the ship.
A visit here is definitely worth it. Especially the interior of the ship is a unique experience, here a lot of effort was made to create a true to the original atmosphere. Not only have all the rooms been detailed and historical furnished correctly, there are also a number of light and sound effects as well as wax figures and some interactive elements.
Anyone who is interested in history should get their money's worth here and for children here too much is offered. However, those interested in technology may be a bit short.
It should be noted that it is sometimes very narrow and stickick, who has problems should avoid the place rather, as you will spend more than an hour inside the ship.
Absolutely brilliant to be able to explore the recovered and restored steam ship. Amazing detail and insight into both construction and operation of the vessel. We'll worth a visit.
Well worth a visit. Volunteers were full of knowledge.
Interesting and fun family day out which won't break the bank.
It was a great way to tell how it was back in the day a greqt show of people to
well laid out and hours of historical facts and pieces on show ... great tour of the hull and interior of a fantastic vessel
A fascinating look at the history of one of the most famous and beautiful ships ever built. The ship has been lovingly restored and looks every bit as could as one would imagine she did on her launch.
Very educational for the kids & the adults.
Ship is outstanding!! Daughter was brave enough to absail down the mast, you can do this for a small fee.
Great day out, we loved it
Simply fantastic, really interesting, a step back in time
Very interesting and inspiring place to go in Bristol!
A very interestitplaxe to visit, I thoroughly recommend this attraction.
Wow. Just wow. Highly Recommended. Great atmosphere, attention to detail, for children and adults a firework of small details and games, questions and scenes that completely immerse in the history of the ship. With the family we were 4 hours non stop on the way, price of almost 50BPS (2 adults and 2 children) I think very suitable. Clear recommendation (even without children;))
Really well adapted to exploring and everything brought to life. Great facilities there. Staff all nice too
Kids went there with their local scout group to climb the rigging, you really can go very far up onto the rigging, I know my son who is not scared of heights had a few problems with the last bit (you go up to the top and then the last bit is to go outwards!) but all had a great time! don't be buying food or drinks from this area though without a small fortune about your person!
Nice set of attractions and tickets allow 1 year of re-entry
An amazing experience. Seeing engineering up close and constructed in a time brfore computers
Really dynamic displays and engaging information. Really great staff as well.
It's nice to walk round the water tho the boat wasn't their :-(
Had a works evening Christmas celebration on one of the lower decks. It was nice to have a wander around the ship before dinner was served, and the evening entertainment put on by the crew (staff) was a nice way to end the evening.
Everyone appeared to be having a great time, so i would say this place is well recommended.
A good visit. A must: Climb the guys, sensation and exceptional views
Really enjoyed the visit. Very well presented and informative, I will be going back with the free return ticket to see the new museum mid 2018.
Enjoyed every second there great great Britain had a great great time!!
Interesting and fun 3-4 hours worth of entertainment
Brilliant!! Highly recommended to see for all ages. I was surprised the level of detail they go to. Very impressed!!!
Well worth visiting! Ticket valid the whole year for those who simply didn't have enough time to see everything or just want to come again
Very nice place to visit, very educational and is a very interesting place to visit
Absolutely fantastic! Best museum I've ever been to
Very interesting day out looking round boat lots to see and ticket valued for year so can visit as many times as you like!
An amazing well preserved expiriance! As a fan of engineering this place was a fantastic insight to Brunel and how things were created and designed in the victorian period. Brunel is definitely an inspiration to me as he put in so much hard work. Im sure he possibly worked himself to death. He built great engineering feats and this is one of them restored by a great set of enthusiasts. The ship somehow manages to bring you back to the sites and even smells of the victorian era. The ship is well preserved and you can even go underneath it which is impressive as you can see the rivets. Before going on board there is an impressive mini museum which tells you about the ship and you can even steer a virtual ship. Outside this the surrounding area is preserved to a victorian harbour. This is pretty much stepping back in time. The gift shop sells many nice items however the guide book is quite intresting and I bought the Haynes manual of SS Great Britain which shows in detail how it was built and how it worked. I would love to see the steam engine running on steam again however imagine the safety concerns on that . This is an amazing expiriance and I would recomend it to anybody!
The best maritime museum that there is, but be prepared for some hero worship.
I K Brunel the greatest Victoria ever.
Great museum, it really gives you a feel of the time
The ship and dry dock are the main attractions which are really well presented with lots of information to read. You can access the majority of the ship and the displays for each area (1st class cabins, engine room, galley etc.) were all fun to work through. The museum concerning Brunels other inventions was less impressive as he clearly invented lots of different things, but it seemed to miss out a lot of information. Shame as it could offer so much more insight into his life. The nearest car park is run by the Council - but the museum does offer some money back if you show your ticket.
Always heard of this famous ship. Great to see it in real life.
We had a really good time. Well worth a visit. Looking forwards to coming back when the docks train is running.
Super place Brunel is possibly one of the greatest people that ever lived!!!
Great experience to touch and feel how people traveled back then. Easily spend 1-2 hours at this place.
Fabulous place to go and look round. It has such an amazing history, and my son loved exploring the ship with the map provided. It is especially good value, as each ticket lasts for a year, and you can go back as many times as you like free of charge within the year.
There was a fun informative talk by Isambard Kingdom Brunel ' himself' describing how he came up with the idea if an iron ship. He asked lots of children to be involved, which helped with the telling if the story.
Mr friend has mobility problems, but there are lifts installed in the ship, and lots of staff who were very helpful .
A great day out, and one I thoroughly recommend.
