An excellent museum covering the life and works of the great engineer Brunel. The highlight is of course the SS Great Britain, recovered from the Falkland islands and brought back to drydock in Bristol. The ship makes a great living museum, as you can see how it would've been for the passengers and crew.

History lurks behind every rivet and iron plate
First they had to build the dry dock before they could even start the ship's construction. SS Great Brittan is now suspended and hovering over her birth place. Another proud tribute to IK Brunel and British 19th century engining and industry.
I spent 4 hours on this visit and need to return to take it all in.
A great family day out, bring along your pumps to dance the sailors hornpipe or climb the old ships rigging.

We expected far less from our visit than we actually got. The ship and all the history (old and new) is all very interesting and presented in a fun and informative way. We arrived around midday, didn't get to see and do everything, and left just as they were closing. We were in a group of 5 adults of varying ages, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the visit. It's almost a certainty that we will return to Bristol within the year, and if we do, we will make use of the 1 year tickets again.

Great exhibit, you can see the bottom of the ship in a water tight viewing area, then on to the history of the ship in a purpose built area then finally onto the ship itself which was excellent fun with the way it is set up to replicate what life on board was like in its heyday.

SS Great Britain is worth seeing. The inside of the ship as been re-created extremely well. The team of people who worked on re-creating the period obviously really enjoyed this project. Thank you

Had a great time visiting this historic ship. It was very interesting to see it set out as in the old days. Additional advantage on the day to see it set up for a wedding. It is in a great position by the river and other places of interest. Close to many eating and drinking places and pleasant walks.

You wanted a big ship, they gave you a big ship. This place must rank as one of the best big ship museums I've seen in many a long year. A word of warning, though: for a big ship the ceiling is low. Peter Crouch, look out!

Fantastic set of museums all in one place. The new Being Brunel museum is very interesting and well designed. The ship is really interesting to visit inside. You can also visit the dry dock and walk around underneath the ship, that's been really well designed. Overall I would highly recommend a visit!

Outstanding! So much to see and do, it can either be crammed into a single visit or come back for several - which I'll do.
So much information on the ship is posted on the walls which can be browsed whilst queuing, and the activities on board including climbing the rigging are brilliant. The working ship's engine is unmissable! The refurbishment of the ship and the reassembly of the stateroom, kitchens and cabins is a credit to those involved. Brilliant!

Went to a dinner - held in the First Class Dining Room. Acoustics are poor - very noisy during dinner - but the setting/ambience is great, especially to a professional engineer! First class staff; very knowledgeable and helpful.

One of experience if your interested in history, ships or engineering. Walking around the ship, at the moment has 1 way system due to covid19, but you can see everything.
Two small museums attached and nice views surrounding it.
The tickets are pricey, but worth it if your interested in this sort of things.

I wouldn't recommend for families with really young kids as I imagine they might get bored.

Gift shop good and no more expensive than your average tourist attraction.

Overall worth a visit if this is something your interested in. We enjoyed it massively.

Great place to visit with kids. Ticket price covers you for a year, so ideal for locals. A wonderful piece of Bristol's history in a lovely setting by the water. Parking is reasonable too.

It made me feel like a child lost in time. It is probably best experienced when not too busy. But it is an impressive if a little run down collection of attractions. There was nowhere to sit down and rest in between rooms. The cafe was closed. I will be back though and will see how it feels earlier in the day.

Excellent historic site. The ship is very well presented, the staff are friendly and informative.
Sadly we had to rush around due to time constraints but the staff showed us the best route to fit everything in during our brief tour.

We had a tour through this museum with a group of people. The tour operator was amazing at explaining everything and answering our questions. The museum was very interesting and there was a lot to see.

A fantastic experience. Hands on displays, good explanations, helpful staff. You can walk around the dry dock to see the underside of the ship. The inside has been excellently restored. A small museum charts the boats history. Well worth a visit, especially as the cafe is right on the quayside

Very interesting museum close to the city center, it gives a clear idea on how long journeys radically changed in the last century.
The most interesting part of the museum is the ship itself, complete of a reproduction of the forniture and smells of the boat.
It is very interactive, really enjoyable both by the young people and the adults.
I think this is one of the must-see spots in the city.

Ok. My assessment is partisan. I love ships. This then satisfied all my curiosity. Maniacal reconstruction of the interior (you can get married on the ship ...). Museum with all the history and the vicissitudes of the ship. A separate museum dedicated to Brunel, an engineer who has made the history of Great Britain. Are you in Bristol? You can not go there.

I have wanted to visit the Great Britain since I was a child and I wasn't disappointed.

The ship is lovingly preserved in the dock it was built. The history of the ship is explained fantastically by volunteers who know their stuff!

If you are tall, then remember to duck! Space is tight in places.

Well worth a visit, a fascinating insight into Victorian engineering.
