Spring Hill Center Review

This place has come a long way from what it once started out as, but the pool still is not worth a visit.

They don't return phone calls or emails. I'm trying to schedule lessons and literally GIVE THEM MY MONEY but I guess they just don't want my business.

My daughter love this place, after a year she is a really good swimmer.

Newly renovated this place has a lot to offer they have many studios swimming a huge variety of classes for kids and adults and they also have summer camps for kids.

Pool is usually not too crowded. Gym and soccer fields are there too.

The new gym area and basketball court are fantastic. Swimming pool and locker rooms feel a little old in comparison.

Lots of things to do here. Good for groups. Remember that you have to pay for lockers, because I made that mistake.

The staff is helpful. The facilities are clean and well managed. Not one complaint. The swimming pool timings can be somewhat tough to work around your schedule but with the jaccuzi and sauna its all worth it You should check them out for your workout needs.

Pretty nice rec center. Lots of activities offered from swimming to judo and karate classes. Outdoor sports like soccer and baseball classes too. Activities for special needs kids and adults. Friendly staff

This is your average Fairfax County Parks and Recreation Rec Center. They have classes, they have pool, they have Club rooms.

Awesome olympic size pool for lap swimming. Clean facility too. Go on off times when there are no classes.

Well maintained facilities. They could work on their front desk staff to smile a bit and not be so obviously "my parents told me to get a job" mode.

Great gym. 5+ stars for the facility. Minus for some issues. Two floors of weights and machines. Nice elevated track over the 2 full basketball courts with 6 hoops. The hoops are mostly open--i.e. not blocked off or reserved. This sets SpringHill apart on the plus side. I can bring my son and pretty much count on him being able to play. This is not the case at other gyms. The 50m pool set up with lots of 25yrd lanes--enough so that usually you can split a lane, sometimes have your own lane, and only rarely require 3 person rotation--i.e. more plus side. Unfortunately, they do not post or teach or enforce any etiquette--people will just jump in your lane and run into you even when other lanes are empty or other lanes have swimmers where they fit better and would not disturb the person already in the lane. Also unfortunately, they cant seem to fix the pool thermostat--so one day its hot, another its cold, and on average the pool tends to be too warm for an intense swimmers workout. It has a sizeable kids swim area, hot tub, several racketball courts, and lots of rooms for dance classes, spinning, karate, etc. Unfortunately these rooms are off limits when empty. You are not allowed to just drop in and practice a dance routine, for example, in an empty room. They have a sauna but it is very disappointing as it is never even close to being in the posted temperature range. Its a whopping 20 degrees colder than the middle of the posted range. If you want a sauna, the sauna at Audrey Moore rec is way better.

Large pool with plenty of laps. Its a little busy weekday mornings but if you don't mind sharing, you can still quickly get a lane. I wouldn't recommend weekend mornings are or weekday afternoons because swimming classes and the swim teams will take up most of the pool. Any other time, it's pretty much dead though. Just make sure to ask the lifeguards what lanes will be available, they're always willing to help! Gym with an indoor track is great too, great improvements after the renovations!

Outstanding gym with exercise and weight machines, free weights, indoor elevated track, pool facility, and exercise classes. Great diversity of ages using the center, and diverse levels of intensity as well. Welcome and supportive staff.

I was just at the center (24 December 2016) and unfortunately checked the web page for hours today on Xmas eve, which had been posted as 5 pm. Using this information I went to the center at about 1145 in the morning and scanning in with nobody at the counter at the time. As I entered the gym area the young woman (blond, frizzy hair) told me the center was closed at 1200. I told her the web page said something different and she told me in a very bad tone that the hours had been posted for two weeks. When I asked her about the web page hours listed (i said 8 but that was incorrect) she told me "we never close at 8 on Saturday" then ran away from me with no further comment or anything. First, this is the second time this same woman has been rude in reminding me of the hours and I have never been spoken to like this by any other employee at this center. I would like this woman to change her attitude quickly and understand the need for some level of customer service when she interacts with people and not remind them of posted hours as if we are dumb. Since this is the second time I have gotten some attitude from this woman, I am writing this to Post. You can do better in your interactions with the paying customers. Start now or find some other place to work - or be prepared for escalations of your inability to deal with folks in a nice way.

Nice pool and playground . Also have some soccer and baseball field .

This is a really good rec center for children s classes. They always have good instructors. We have taken a few dance classes, gymnastics, art, robotics, and swimming lessons and I ve never been unhappy. We have also taken classes at at least four other Fairfax County rec centers so I have that frame of reference to compare. It seems a bit more clean and classy, too.

The playground isn t the greatest. It s closer to a tot lot without much fun for older kids. If we are in the area anyway we head down the road to Clemyjontri Park for some real playground action. They also don t win for the best pool - that would be Cub Run out in Centerville.

Great facility. Cardio, free weights, Olympic pool, locker rooms with saunas, everything you need!

Convenient parking and a very courteous staff. Our team always recommends them to clients looking for a party rental room.

I come here twice a week with a few of my students, both with autism. The reception staff have been welcoming and help us work on our goals to check in independently. We then use the indoor track, weight room, or pool, and always have positive interactions with staff. Their facility is clean, the other users are respectful, and the staff is accommodating.

Great service, great facilities, huge pool, and huge gym. Cheaper than a normal gym membership so it could be a great solution for young teenagers

Great Rec center, nice staff, especially after recent renovations

Teachers are excellent at the Spring Hill Recreation Center Preschool. We always saw how they motivated children throughout the year with all kinds of activities. My daughter was there with them for two years and she finished in May 2019. Classes are from September to the end of May. It belongs to Fairfax Calendar. They use all areas of the Spring Hill Recreation Center. My daughter is in Kinder now and We already had the Conference for first quarter, and the teacher asked us which Preschool she attended, because she is amazed about the preparation and confidence she has shown during this first quarter in K.
This Preschool provides children with many activities: reading, writing, swimming, art, sport and its Playground is sunny all year.
This is a great place where children really learn! We totally recommend it!

I visited this recreation center couple of times during the weekends because of my kids but I will not take my kids there again. In the front check in desk, they had couple of young girls working, texting on the phone, no greetings or a smile, and if you ask them a question they give you a one word answer. They need to train these young girls about customer service skills. Other centers have young people working but the customer service is much better!

Best Rec Center in all of Fairfax County, VA. Nice staff, too. Safe and clean.

Nice selection of fitness activities. Staff are very friendly. Reasonable rates. Members are normal, down to earth people, not gym rats. Relaxed atmosphere.

My daughter played two games at Spring Hill Rec Park on a Saturday in March. The park is well kept with plenty of parking. I wish that Maryland had more rec centers like this.

Wish they sold food there that would be nice. Great facility and great people working there.

Excellent staff at Spring Hill Rec center. I had a heart problem at the pool area and the life guards were very responsive and professional. Lifeguards Chris and Ried were beyond helpful. Paramedic crews also wanted to pass on praise to the lifeguards as well. Excellent rec center, they take their job very seriously and make safety a number one priority!!

I like Springhill recreation Center
I have a really nice pool and nice staff
And swimming instructors.
I swim just about every day and when it's time for our swim practice for the Special Olympics on Saturday will be starting back for practice on October 1our team is called Springhill stingrays.
And they have a nice indoor track and basketball court.

Trying to take a barre class here. Two out of the five classes no instructor has shown up. Supposedly she teaches a class there at 9 so if no one showed to that class someone should call and let us know. No one has let us know if we are getting a refund or a credit and when that will occur.

Well, it's nice, it's got a large selection of activities, but it has a great deal of rules.

A very well equipped Fairfax County Rec Center. The free weights area is fairly large and well appointed, but it can get busy. The equipment is all in good shape and well maintained, but the building itself is getting tired. There was some problem with the pool heaters over the winter, which impacted hot water to the locker rooms. Overall, for the availability of classes and clubs for my daughter, plus the massive variety of equipment and activities make this an incredible value in comparison to some of the other local for-profit gyms in the area, particularly catering to families.

I signed up as a family so my kids can use the gym. What a novel concept in the dead of winter. However, a private travel basketball team has use if they gym on Monday from 5-930pm, Tuesday 5-8 pm and Thursday 5-930 pm so no other kids can use the gym, how is that even legal for a facility that has county employees and was built with county money so the residents could have reasonable access, do my kids need to skip school so they can exercise and play sports with their friends at the rec center. Unreal.

Clean location, friendly staff, good classes, racquetball courts, changing rooms are clean and well kept. Playing fields outside are also in order. Nice and clean indoor pool. Overall it is a nice place and they have low membership options as apposed to all the premium sports clubs its surrounded by.

Management here is terrible. Every time I've gone there always seems to be some sort of problem and none of the managers can give any consistent and helpful information

The kids will have fun here. They have swimming classes, gym memberships, basketball courts and other fun things to do for exercise.
