I will NEVER adopt from SCRAPS again. I adopted a kitten, who was to young to be adopted out. We waiting until she weighted enough to get spayed. After her surgery she developed an infection at her surgical site. When I took her back to SCRAPS 9 days after surgery, they told me that it was due to her "licking" her wound open. I was turned away and was told there was nothing they could do. I sought a vet and treated her for her infection that was due to surgery. She had developed a infection deep within her surgical site.
SCRAPS still will do nothing about my bill. I am a single mother and I have to save for months to pay the $144 vet bill that shouldve been taken care of by SCRAPS...
DO NOT have SCRAPS do surgery on your pet. They dont take care of the animal afterwards.

The lady at the front counter told me my kittens sneezing was normal and that she had been fostered and is completely healthy. I get her home and the sneezing continues. The kitten infected my other cat as well. They don t take care of the animals there and lie on the paperwork.

Unethical -sold us a kitten with massive ringworm infection... Whole family caught ringworm... Doctors bills, school absents and money from treating my family and a 250 vet bill. Why do they sell sick or unhealthy animals? Why don't they have a protocol for adoption?

Aw I just love the way this staff has such love and respect for our animals. I went with a friend to the vaccine clinic and it was a good experience. They had microchips available, too. I've decided I'll be bringing my little girl in the following week. If your furry friend is licensed, they offer shots at a discounted rate. It's one stop care for licenses and vaccinations. My girls will be back, as long as this service continues.

Great facility for these animals. The workers and volunteers seem very caring. Always sad to see so many homeless animals. But it's great to have a facility to help these animals find their forever homes. I'm sure they can use more volunteers because of the size of this building. Glad they're there to help.

Came to look at the animals only to find a sign, asking to set appointments. We haven't yet, so I can not review this new procedure due to Covid.

However, pre-covid SCRAPS staff was helpful and the adoption selection seemed to change weekly (at least for the cats).

Posting a copy of the sign in the window.

I was looking to adopt a kitten and wanted a specific little girl that a friend of mine was fostering for SCRAPS. After my friend mixed up the paperwork and I had to go back and forth 3 times I brought home Soup. All of the staff was helpful beyond belief and I recommend to anybody looking to expand the family with a pet yo visit SCRAPS first. Thank you for all of your help.

After LL stole my Cat from neighbor's apt,

& who I put in charge of " Missy's " care".
Not to mention my wishes 4 my Cat.

For a supposed NO KILL shelter, be advised that they euthanize feral cats. We offered to pay for shots and surgery to fix the cat if they would rehome the cat. They refused to do that for a feral cat. We were told that if we paid for that and left cat over weekend there was 50% chance it would be killed before Monday...

The only place to get an animal. We visit frequently just to say hello and get some friendly petting in. The shelter us usually very clean and animals look well cared for. We have adopted two dogs from here and would recommend to anyone searching for a new forever pet.

I did not want to give them one star. This is unacceptable I had a stray Cat that was nearly strangled by its collar I helped it and then the cat took up residence in my garden and neighbors yard this cat seemed to love me but unfortunately I have a indoor cat who does not want a new friend. So after 6 weeks hoping the cat would find its home and listing it on social media I called Scraps they told me that They would not come for the cat unless it was trapped or in a small room well I borrowed a Carrier and finally got the cat and took it to Scraps happy that this cat may find its owner or a forever home and won t be out in the cold since winter is near. This was Tuesday afternoon this morning Friday the Cat is back!
Not only is it back but the tip of its ear is missing ! Apparently they seemed this beautiful cat unadoptable vaccinated it clipped its ear and drove it back to where it came from MY HOUSE!!!! This is ridiculous throw the problem back in my lap and don t try to find this beautiful healthy friendly animal a home. I am furious sad and would never recommend them to rescue an animal I ve read other reviews and I am in full agreement that this place has serious issues if they answered their phones that would be nice. And had they communicated to me that the cat would become my problem and they d cut the tip of its ear off I d never left it there. If you have to leave an animal there don t give them your address!!! This is so upsetting they will hear from me and I will make noise about this. Unfair to me who thought I was helping an animal and no regard for this animals life

We adopted our first dog as a married couple from scraps. She chose us really. Every time we go in, there are volunteers ready to help answer questions and the ladies at the front are quick, kind, and efficient. Love this place! Hopefully adopting again soon!

The people who work at scraps are the most incredible people I have ever met! I adopted a cat from them and a couple months later it became sick (which was not there fault) and they took him in to treat for 3 months because I couldnt afford a vet bill and gave him the best care possible. I am forever grateful for what Lindsey and her team did. Today I picked him up and she was there welcoming me with a huge hug and kept in contact with me the 3 months he was there. Please everyone these animals need homes and scraps is definitely the place to adopt from!

Scraps is one of the only places you can leave found animals in Spokane. All of my experiences there have been excellent. Great staff, well kept facilities from what I know they treat the animals well.

I'm conflicted about this place. As has been said, the shelter is clean, and appears to take good care of the animals. I have had positive experiences with the staff. They even give out free pet food... It looked like to help people having a hard time feeding their pets.

My gripe is that they release feral cats. If you take them in, SCRAPS spays or neuters them and then drops them back off on your block! How is that a good thing for the cats or the neighborhoods?

I miss my dog. I found her at the old building years ago. Scraps had made me a believer in finding an animal a forever home. This facility is outstanding. However, getting in the line to leave with your animal is cumbersome. It takes forever!

They don't know how to do there job and takes their sweet time while leaving you on hold.
When my family and I first moved up here, our dog slipped through the fence and someone picked her up and brought her to scraps. When we finally arrived to pick her up the next day they tried telling us that their "licensed vet tech" said she was not spayed and tried to make us pay extra for her bail out for the one night of being there. We had to clarify with our vet that the scar on her belly was from being spayed.

They lost a cat I turned in and wanted to adopt. The girl told me it was stolen when they transferred it to the other spokanimal shelter. they need to be more aware. Only one person cared to check everywherr and assume, it was taken away. That should be in they're system ..

Extremely disappointing. We adopted an adorable dog that we love very much. However!, the Director Lindsey is apparently to busy to address concerns until you threaten to go over her head. We adopted a female adult dog and were told that we could not take her home until she was spayed. We completely understand and agree with the policy, however, the day the we adopted her, we were told that she would be fixed on the Saturday or Monday at the latest and that someone would follow up with us when they had the appointment set. The following Wednesday after we adopted her I called to see when she was going to be fixed and was told the next Wednesday, after already being told that Saturday or Monday. At that point I asked to speak to the director, who was not available so had to leave a message for Lindsey. I left her a message asking her to call us back and that we would like to have our pup moved from her current Kennel to a quieter one. The dog next to her was very aggressive and was stressing her out. I then called the following Thursday and left yet another message for Lindsey to call me back and requested again, that she be moved if not for the fact that she was stressed but also that they should move so that she was not front and center and put another dog that need to be adopted up there. She was never moved.
That Friday my husband went into the shelter and asked to speak to her yet again and yet again she was not around. We went in again on Sunday and again she was not around. (No surprising since it was a Sunday but was told she was just there) We did ask if we could take her to our own vet and were told no that they have to take care of it, which we accepted. So now it has been a week and a half and our dog went to the vet to be spayed and we received a call that she is ALREADY SPAYED! After that call, I called Lindsey once again and left her a message that since she cannot seem to return my calls I will find out who her superior was and deal with the issues at hand that way. THEN I received a call back from her and all she could say was that she was sorry. I told her that we were told twice that she was the only one that could authorize the dog to be moved and she said that was not the case. So now our pup has been in this place for an additional week and a half for no reason. I cannot believe the incompetence of this place. We have rescued two dogs from Spokanimal with NO issues and this time it has been nothing but stress and issues. It breaks my heart to think that our pup could have been home being loved on and cared for this whole time...instead she was left in a cage next to an aggressive dog and stressed out. Now we will have our dog home tonight. I am so very disappointed in the service we received. It seems to me that SCRAPS need to educated their employees/volunteers more and get a director that is hands on. Maybe then these things will stop happening. I hope and pray that the pups that are waiting to go home are better cared for than our dog was. Once we picked up our pup from the Vet she was DOWN to 56 pounds. When she was accepted to Scraps on she was 65 pounds and that was on December 12/20/2019. HOW IN THE WORLD DOES A DOG LOSE 10 LBS IN 2 WEEKS?! Because they dont care if they are stressed out or not eating. They just want your money!

I wish I could rescue ALL the precious fur babies but that isn't possible. Instead, I have rescued two cats in the last year, six months apart. The staff are all really friendly and seem to interact with the animals in a nice way. They are also helpful with providing a lot of the information you would need when adopting an animal. Kennel Cough is a real thing and I feel like they didn't prepare me well enough for when I adopted my last cat and it got my oldest cat very sick. But we are passed that and I know that isn't SCRAPS fault.

Fancy new facility. Would be nice if someone cleaned the pens a little more often. I know dogs poo, but there was no ventilation in their pen room, and it smelled like there was a sick dog.almost made me throw up.

Very disappointed with scraps, I adopted a dog that they have had for 2 months 1/7/19 , I got him 3/10/19. 30 pounds under weight, Can see every rib, spine, and hip bones. I have pictures that I took so I can show before and after I get him to where he should be. I do not care if a dog is " bonded " to another dog ( a pitbull ) , if you can see a dog is loosing weight then seperate dogs and put in separate kennels COMMON SENSE! I feel I RESCUED my new forever friend from SCRAPS and he was not the only excessively skinny dog there. 2 months and 30 pounds under weight :( ... I have a photo of him soon after he was taken in and in that photo taken by someone who posts pictures of animals up for or soon to be up for adoption and you can see in these pictures where my boy is healthy looking and at the weight he should be. I will never recommend SCRAPS , they should be closed down , new people in charge and cleaned top to bottom and disinfected. They need to bring in a Real vet to do check ups and actually attempt to take care of the animals , the staff who does the paper work needs to learn their breeds , they had mine as a Labrador when anyone with half a brain and eyes to see he is full blood German Shepard a breed I have raised many times. The Medical history paper they gave me (while looking right in my eyes and saying their " Vet " did the Vet check and updated his shots ) says in black and white Intake - Non-Vet , that non vet decided my now dog was healthy and normal , how do they know what is normal when they cant even tell a Labrador from a German Shepard? Run from this place. Luckily I work at a feed store and I have personally ran a ranch that gave me the opportunity to do animal rescue for 20 years. I found great homes for the small and large animal I rescued during that time, I saved the lives of many animals and I will get my new friend here back to his weight of 88 to 90 pounds from the 53 he is at now. If i could give SCRAPS negative 5 Stars i would !

All kennels for the dogs had piles of poop everywhere and urine.. its heartbreaking to be in there already knowing they want to just find a home but trying to connect with animals when the smell is overwhelming is just too much .. we just decided to leave.. the whole situation is heartbreaking
