Does Scraps Euthanize animals? And Scraps is an overall fantastic place. Scraps is practically my second home and I love it so much. Their dogs are honestly the most amazing animals and dogs in general.

I called them and had a question. Scraps told me to call code enforcement
and was given the number. When I call code enforcement. Was told by Code
enforcement why are they keep passing the buck? That is their job not ours.Scraps has got to get a new manager for the one they have doesn't have any clue on how to run

SCRAPS failed to find my Husky's microchip when she was brought in so they adopted her out. Thank God for the two ladies at the front desk, however, one did a second check before going with adoptive family, found she did indeed have a chip, and notified me. The other front desk gal worked very hard to remedy the situation and removed my dog from the adoption in their system so I could take her home that night. This situation should never have occurred, though. It is well known Huskies have think hides with tons of fur so microchips can be hard to spot and I would expect professionals who work with dogs would know this. This situation cause a lot of trauma to myself, my poor dog, and even to the family that thought they adopted her.

I would give negative stars if I could. My family and I were working with behaviorist Kevin and a female Doberman to make sure it would be a good fit for us to foster-to-adop . We had a few meet-and-greets and even brought her home with the Dog Meets World progra . Brought her to our house, where we played with her in the backyard, playing fetch and playing in the puppy pool. We went in on Sunday to meet with behaviorist Angelina so she could evaluate as well. When we left on Sunday it was with the understanding that we would be by to pick her up on Monday after work because she was going to be spayed on Monday. About 3 hours later, we got a call from Kevin letting us know that a rescue had picked her up already - she was gone!

This dog does not like kids or dogs, but SCRAPS' director and program coordinator felt that sending her to a rescue with EIGHT kids and THREE other dogs was in her "best interest". A followup phone call with the program coordinator brought light to the fact that the dog's "best interest" was NOT their first priority. It's all about the money!

Adopted a pup which the breed was completely mis identified. I swear they think everything with a thin muscular body is a Pit Bull! When we were meeting the different animals. My husband asked about the whole process of the animals being picked up and then adopted out. He then asked the employee about if the original owner of the adopted animal comes to claim their animal. The employee just shrugged her shoulders and said " too bad, so sad". I was mortified i know its the owners responsibility but come on! Too bad so sad? Thats f*d up.

I live in people prarie area . We have stray dogs and cats dumped a lot from folks who are wanting to get rid of their animals. A cat was dumped on my road this past week by a scraps volunteer who said they pick up strays, fix them and release in the area they came from . Scraps doesn't come here trapping animals. Very disappointed. Stray cats encourage more cayotes and when they become wild they fight and infect local pets that need trips to the vet. This is not a great way to treat any animal. No excuses. Shame on scraps.

The dogs cages seem to be dirty almost every time I'm there and I realize that there are only so many people to take care of the animals but at the same time it's a little ridiculous to see sad, scared, tired dogs roaming around a cramped cage with their own waste products covering a large area. Other than that usually the people working there are very kind and will answer most every question you have.

I adopted a cat from scraps a couple days after he was listed as ready for adoption . Upon adopting him, I was told that he had a respiratory infection that was almost cleared. If he was still experiencing symptoms, I could bring him to their vet a week later and get another round of treatment free of charge. This poor kitty started bleeding from his eye the day after I brought him home and it didn t let up so we made an appointment to take him back in. When making the appointment, I told them about his bloody eyes, how he kept messing with his tail because when they shaved him he was cut numerous times (they said it was caused by a grass poking into his skin? Doesn t explain the razor pattern scabs), and I asked if they could do a full exam because he was having so many issues. I was told this wasn t a problem. When we got there, they wouldn t let us past their front counter, did a quick look over without listening to breathing or anything and said he was fine other than the fact that he had fleas (which they said they treated and would not treat again). We have had him about two weeks now and took him to our vet today. This cat has severe tapeworms, still has fleas, and an eye infection. I knew that he had been treated for fleas at the shelter but they treated it once and left the rest to thrive. There were absolutely no notes in his file about worms or an eye infection. I am VERY disappointed that scraps would put a kitty in this condition up for adoption and refuse to help when they said they would. We love this cat dearly and wouldn t give him up regardless but this was a very disappointing experience.

UPDATE: They have now called and left voicemails apologizing that when they read me the notes, they weren t clear . I will not be calling back!

They are great work the animals. The facility is clean and the staff is friendly. I don't like the fact that they switched to docupet and now my tags are due a month earlier than they used to be. They should have been able to switch everything over and keep everyone's license months the same.

Make sure to lie to these folks if the animals you need to give up are in any way yours. We had kittens that the mom refused to feed or care for. They were fine with taking them until they realized our cat had given birth to them. So even though these kittens will die because the mom refused to take care of them, they won't take them because they weren't just abandoned on the side of the road.

They were offering free chips for dogs and we're very gentle and quick with my pet. Highly recommend this place. Clean inside and friendly staff. I would just recommend if they do another free event to let dog owners know to bring water for their pets because that line was long and it was the middle of summer.

I moved to Spokane the beginning of June. I payed for a dog license right away because the code says my dog has to be licensed within 30 days. When I called at the end of July, because I had not received the license, they were quite rude and said they were having a staffing issue and hadn't done any dog licenses since the end of May. She said I would get it when they caught up. The end of August is approaching and I still have not received my license. Are they just taking peoples money, or what?

They will euthanize animals with no veterinary assessment.
Recently rescued a 4 week old kitten from the brink of death. I have a three month old son, so I was unable to maintain treating the little guy for more than 24hrs. He made a huge improvement overnight. Tried to bring him in to SCRAPS, only to be told by an employee BEFORE I EVEN MADE IT INTO THE BUILDING that they would euthanize if I surrendered the kitten to them because his gums were a little less pink than they should be. They welcomed me in to talk more about it, and of course that employee disappeared and I was immediately handed paperwork to surrender the kitten. I asked why they would euthanize the kitten even though it's health had made such a huge turn for the best, and he was very lively, only to have a different employee very rudely say "I can have him come back and explain it to you again." No veterinary assessment, just straight to euthanasia. Good thing we have shelters that actually care. After hearing what happened, the Spokane Humane Society was able to pull some strings, make and exception to take in a stray, and already had a foster home lined up. We even got to meet the foster when we brought him in. Scraps is the worst. If you have ZERO compassion for animals, don't work with animals!

They usually always have a variety of dogs, and cats. I think it'd be cool if they had birds, amphibians, and reptiles also. However I didn't know that they adopt out two dogs together when the dogs have bonded. That already say's so much to me. It makes me happy to see a place not only put the two dogs together, but also let people know that they've bonded, so people can take them both. The people people here are helpful, and they try to make sure that you know more about the animal than just what you can see. Also how they have obedience classes you can attend with your dog, it's convenient. I feel like they've thought about almost anything that could help you, and you new found family friend. Thank you SCRAPS!

I let my senior dog outside for literally 30 minutes and a scraps officer called and said she had her. I asked her where she was and she said she was already at scraps and found my dog on a busy road... Oooookkkkkkk no you didn't lol my dog is 12 and can barely walk because she had bone cancer and was on so much meds because we were keeping her comfortable until hey being put down. The gate was open yes and I didn't notice. But there is no freaking way she made it that far that fast and from shadle you had made it all the way to the valley??? Then they made me pay 75.00 to get her back. I asked the lady what she would have done with my old dying dog if I didn't just have 75? She said adopt him out! Really?!? You sick company! You'd take senior dying dog away from her home on her last days of you didn't get that money. This company is so messed up.. All about that money!! I bet they picked her up at the end of my freaking driveway, saw where she lived and took her anyways just to get the fee...

We have I little male chi mix from SCRAPS, he is extremely spoiled. We go there occaisionally, and they generously gave space for a training (which cost us nothing, thanks to The Furry Farm Rescue, who we foster for) with Stephanie from Method K9. Love SCRAPS!

I work as maintenance at an apartment complex. I find animals that don't belong to people and I try to rescue them. SCRAPS has taken them in no questions and they are usually adopted before the waiting period. I have rescued a cat from SCRAPS myself and the experience was awesome! Thank you for everything you all do including everyone who volunteers there.

My wife and I visited the facility to renew our pets license.
Everyone was helpful and courteous.
We also were there to donate some bags of pet food for the dogs and cats in the facility, per SCRAPS request on needing food for the animals.
We were more than happy to donate, and did it in memory of our Pit Bull, Ramses, who left us on September 27th, due to cancer.
We viewed the Pit Bulls awaiting adoption, and it reminded us of Ramses, as they looked at us, wagging their tails and barking at us.

A shelter is a shelter, however, this one appeared clean, organized and not overcrowded. I was disappointed seeing the animals that had been transfers from the local Humane Society, though. That is one way for the H.S. to keep its "no-kill" status. Thankfully, there also wasn't a line of owners surrendering their pets even though a fair share of those were all ready in the shelter cages. Overall, this is a nice place to find your new furever friend.

I love helping animals in need! but yet again we adopted a dog and was told that our dog was able to be picked up, we got to get her and now we get to wait for up to a week because there office staff can't get on the same page. If you tell someone something hold to your word! Or better yet they can explain to kids why our new family member can't come home when they were promised (by the staff)

Wish I could give this place Zero stars! The people working at this location and their "policies" are completely disgusting. They have zero compassion/empathy for pet owners who lost their beloved family members. My friend's beautiful 5 month old kitty got loose and was found 4 blocks away from her house by someone who turned him into SCRAPS. My friend called the facility the day he was turned in before he was found and placed there. They knew someone was looking for him, yet when she called again the very next day when they opened, she was told he had been adopted out.... mere HOURS after he had been placed there. Not only is this the complete wrong thing to do, the workers there acted like they did nothing incorrect! At the urging of my friend, they called the family who adopted the kitty DAYS LATER only leaving a brief message. They would not disclose the contents of their message and told my friend they were not even obligated to call the new family and were just "doing her a favor." Doing her a favor by giving her cat away hours after he was turned in?! He was clearly not a feral stray. This attitude is completely vile and its apparent they are simply looking for a quick buck with zero regard to pet owners feelings. To many people, pets are not just pets, they are family members. We have an army who are spreading this story everywhere we can to get this story out and create action against SCRAPS.

Everyone ive personally known who has been there...

Everyone ive personally known who has been there had issues. Their animals get kennel cough, sores, fleas, infections. I dont even know how scraps is still running. They were shut down almost a year ago for piling dead animals carcasses in the back room instead of disposing of them properly, almost like they went on a uthenization spree. Also, I had a neighbor turn in 2 kittens there, well I had the other two kittens and was going to rehome them or find the owner myself . Well I called scraps the same day the kittens were turned in and they informed me they had to uthenize them,. But for what, they refused to tell me, they were kittens, maybe a little feral, but I was able to hold, catch, and love on the other two kittens perfectly fine. Every staff member I have ever encountered was completely rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. One of the worst places to take an animal. Also, another instance was a friend dropped there cat off because they didnt know they would end up being able to keep him, the very same day only 3 hours later, they went to get him back and had to pay 150 bucks just to get him out, pretty much having to adopt tgwir own cat. Then the cat got extremely sick and got the rest of their animals sick and they lost another cat because of it. Scraps wouldnt even acknowledge the fact they sent the cat back with kennel cough. Also I had another friend of a friend who was a fire fighter and his dog was only there for 2 days before being adopted which they're not supposed to do , because they have a waiting period according to their policies. The firefighter who had been away fighting fires was told too bad. He reached out to facebook and local news and the family that adopted the dog claimed they had already falken in love and didnt want to give him up, but it had only been days. Once he put it all over media though, the family eventually had a concious and gave the dog back. Scraps is all about making money and not caring about any pet owners feelings or situations. The firefighter was away saving lives and they treated him horribly. I could seriously sit here and list off so many more situations Ive experienced with this place and people. Im seriously in shock that they still are even in business. They need shut down. The animals need to be taken by a program that actually loves them takes care of them and isnt about making money off them. Even my moms dog, got lost was only gone 2 days, and had a collar and NAME TAG WITH her number on it, and scraps, took the collar off, didnt even call my mom, and tried to adopt out her dog like she was a stray. These people are not pet lovers else they would not do any thing like that. My mom when she went to get her dog back only was brought her dogs collar after she paid the fees , they were like oh we found this on her bty the way, like no big deal. My mom was furious. She wouldnt of spent 2 days looking for her dog if Scraps had the audacity to call the number on the tag the moment the dog was impounded. But nope they wanted to make money off my mom and her dog instead of doing the right thing.
