Very clean!! Well maintained shelter. Dogs are separated from cats, so their noise doesn't add additional stress. Volunteers are knowledgeable and friendly. Prices are amazing. They really careabout animals.

My 1st actual visit to new location. Have always had dealings by phone. I was not very impressed with the animal receiving department. The lady wasn't unpleasant but acted like she didn't want to be there. Thankfully an Angel customer was there and took the little rat that someone threw out. We are extremely grateful to her. We worked for several weeks providing her what she needed until we could afford to buy a small trap. I was also stunned there are no vets there or even vet techs to check incoming animals. Very different than Spokanimal.

They NEVER have an officer on duty at the time that you need one. No weekend or evening coverage. I have called so many times after hours and the only thing you get it file a complaint online, or I can take your info, but they will not respond until business hours. I truly do not believe I have ever seen a reason to call them during normal business hours. What good is an enforcement entity with bankers hours?

Update: Saturday was actually met with a call back. Still not happy, but I am increasing this to two star

The wait or holding policy on dogs for adoption is not in the best interest of the animals. If the hold time is say 5 days the time goes to the minute of closing time. The adopter and the poor dog have to wait an extra day or even longer if it connects to shelter closures.

What a wonderful animal shelter. Rumor has it, this used to be a Harley Davidson dealership. Visited on a Sunday, and the place was hopping with activity. The animals are well cared for, and the experience was positive. Spokane really loves her pets. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.

I'm only giving a 1 star for the fact that I made ...

I'm only giving a 1 star for the fact that I made the best decision for my dog.

My dog was left in the yard unattended for a couple minutes (literally) while I went to go talk to my husband. As soon as I was told by one of our roommates that he had slipped out along with their dog, my husband, our roommates and I went searching through the neighborhood. Then we looked all along the main roads and neighborhoods by our house. He was nowhere in sight. By the time we stopped looking it was getting dark..

The next morning I told my friend (who had originally adopted him) that he was at SCRAPS and asked her to call and let SCRAPS know we were coming. He was covered in oil in his picture. It was horrifying. She didn't get the chance to because her dog ended up being found and was covered in the same corrosive oil dumped at the industrial park. His paws had been stripped of so many layers of skin that they were soft. Some of his hair had come out and he was traumatized.

Scraps claims to have called her 3 times. But in the couple of hours she spent washing her dog and comforting him, they had called once. Then she received a call from a restricted number so she didn't answer.

They called once more around 1-2 and claimed they had a special shampoo for my roommates foster animal (that had recently been adopted. The new owner asked us to watch her while she went to Canada with a friend), so my roommate told me to go along with her to pick up my dog (my husband and I do not have a second car, and I'm a stay at home mom).

When we walked through the door, they immediately led us to the room where they take care of the animals. My poor dog still had quite a bit of oil on him. He had been attacked by coyotes and was only saved because a worker for the company that dumps oil was near by and was able to take him in. His tags were missing.. He looked so gone...my husband and I had decided that he should stay because we dont have the means for the treatment he needed. We are currently looking for a house so all of our savings is going towards that.

They tried telling me that my dog (a WHITE and BLONDE husky/Akita mix) was a German Shepard and they tried telling me he was underweight. I know that he isn't because I had just discussed it with my husband and did the research.

Soon after that they grabbed my roommates foster dogs leash out of her hand and escorted us out, saying our house was unfit and unsafe.

How could they make that assumption!? It was by chance that my dog decided to dig in the 2-3 minutes I was inside talking with my husband. It was by chance that he ended up in an oil pit. It was by chance that he was chased and attacked by coyotes.

He had been in only twice before in 2018
1st time: we had just adopted him. We didn't know he was a digger
2nd time: he was being watched by a friend who didn't listen to us when we told him to be put on the lead

I tried to tell them that he is an escape artist. That I know he was well fed. They looked at me like I put that oil on him and threw him to the coyotes. They made my roommate and I feel less than human.

I have never been treated so terribly in my life by a business.

I understand that they were only doing their job, but I hope maybe one day, the staff will realize there are good owners out there who have terrible things happen like this....

SCRAPS is an important resource for the community. Although it sometimes gets a bad wrap because of either picking up an animal off the street or charging a pound fee, SCRAPS helps responsible pet owners locate their lost pets and works to find new homes for abandoned pets. We received friendly service, advice, and were able to locate and trap our 6month old kitten thanks to them.

They suck they gave my dog away. I rescued a pit (...

They suck they gave my dog away. I rescued a pit (Thor) from FB handsome and loving he became my therapy dog and we had a family bond. Well my brother ended up in the Hospital so me and my husband went to Sandpoint leaving our dogs in the care of our ex best friend and roommate home with the dogs. Well we got stuck in Sandpoint and our dog got out because little did we know at the time that he was addicted to drugs and let thor get out. We'll after I got back the next day he tells me he got out. I then spent the next 6 hours looking for him till we found a video online then found out he was at scraps. I cried I was so relived and happy. Well did that to soon come to find out I'm the third home he has been in and the first owner had him chipped so he called the guy I got him from and he got him out. The guy refused to give him back because SCRAPS said he was dehydrated and malnourished. We were gone for 19 hours! So the helped me get my best friend stolen.

On top of that my friends cat was found by them (an indoor outdoor cat mind you) with a collar always stays close to home all kinds of people feed her around her house. Well the picked her up took the tags off her collar and left the collar on then chipped her without permission and fixed her. Then made her pay every penny before they would give her back. They don't care about the animals only money!

They need to do their job. They are to protect I've animals,. They let a serial cat killer roam our streets. He tortured and slowly kills kittens for the fun of it. Scraps knows who is doing those horrible things but they won't press charges.

The staff were nice but the animals were not taken care of at all and hardly were checked on while I was there for 2 and a half hours. The animals were sitting in their own feces for hours and many of them looked sickly. This place should provide service for animals that is humane and RIGHT.

Went for low-cost vaccines for my 2 doggies. The volunteer vet was amazing and other helpers! The wait was about 3 hrs - not what I was hoping for time wise but under $100 for 3 shots each and micro-chipped you can't beat it. On a sad note my golden has a growth that the vet believes to be cancer

My mom put a beautiful dog in hold, payed the $25. When she went to pick her up today the lady at the front desk said she was stolen and they couldn t give her the money back, but when I called to see what happened she said the owner came back for the dog and the $25 was a donation ( which they never mention), so which one is it? The owner came back to reclaim her or she got stolen from the shelter? We are never going back there to try and adopt a dog, they are just taking your money and lying. Very irresponsible people, my mom wanted this dog to become a service dog, a companion, instead they lied saying the $25 was for first choice not a donation, they don t care about the people or the animals there. We rather buy a dog from Craigslist at this point since adopting seems to be a waste of money and time.

After my family and roommates went through a horrible experience with the staff, I will never donate a pet or penny to scraps again. The building on the outside is modern and well updated, only because of charges to keep/release animals to or from their owners. With the way the staff treats pet owners, it's safe to assume the way they treat the animals. Scraps makes a nice front yet their care for the pets and their owners is inhumane. Read more reviews. If you do adopted from scraps expect more vet bills down the road, but don't return your pet to them because the lack of care will lead to a euthinization. Post an ad on Facebook for adoption before paying that money hungry animal trafficking company to take your pet.

We made 2 trips to SCRAPS in 3 days, and were able to find our "Forever Dog" "Bruno"!
He has settled right in at home and is very smart...only reason for 4 stars was waiting in lines, but understand with busy staff.
Everyone was VERY KIND...especially Brooklyn our Behavior Team Advisor.

No one answers the phone! When they are in possession of your animal the last thing you want to do is be on hold for 30 minutes... they have a website to report your animal lost but fail to contact you when they receive your animal. Absolutely POINTLESS!
They make their profits off people s lost animals & charge you insane amounts to get them out!
Shame on this business!!!!!

have had several negative encounters with adopting and bringing in stray kittens specifically on the clinic side. recently i rescued a dog that was pushed out of the car in front of me going 40mph. the owner abandoned the dog and wouldn t come back for him and blocked my number (i got it from the tag on the dogs collar). called scraps who came to pick him up and said there would be criminal charges against the owner for cruelty. They let the dog go home with the owner yesterday. both myself and the other two witnesses are heartbroken and very worried for the dog. they did not listen to us. they did not care about the dog s well being. i m not one for writing negative reviews, but this is really not okay.

Well maintained. The staff really seem to care about the animals. We took a dog from the neighborhood in and due to the dog being chipped they had the dog and it's family reunited same day we brought it in. That's amazing.

So I spent 4000 dollars on a kitten because he got so sick after being at scraps because they do not quarantine their animals. He had to have major surgery, ICU care, and continuous vet visits.
To top it off your payment includes a spay or neuter and shots. They never neutered him or gave him his shots like they said they did which is why he got so sick.
I love the fact that we have city funded shelters here but if we are going to fund a shelter they should probably do a better job with the animals.

Over all, a very bad experience.

Over all, a very bad experience.
My dog Luna had gotten out of our yard and was hit and killed. Someone picked her up and took her here. (The worst place to bring her) not only were the employees not sym/empathetic and obviously didn't know anything about anything, left me feeling less than impressed but when the cremating services guy came by for her body... They didn't have her anymore! Apparently she got taken with their disposal services and cannot find anything related to my dog.
I WILL NEVER BE A PATRON OR RECOMMEND SCRAPS TO ANYONE EVER!

I got my dog from there. Best day of my life. However, years later they fail too do their job. Phone calls and reports are made out to them. The police are called. But they can't do anything. They can't get that dog off the balcony that is stuck outside because the owner is gone for weeks at a time. They can't get to the cats upstairs. There's no proof of them getting abused.

Excuses is what I call them. What can scraps do? Because for the many times I and people in my community had called they say they can't do anything.

Fix that.

Maybe you'll a five star rating then

Dropped off a donation of sheets/blankets. Decided to look in at dogs just because. I believe every kennel was full of poop and pee. Poor animals. It smelled so bad. Starting to think owners in it just for money. Shameful

Hats off to the over whelming job that these folks have to do. as far as animal care and protection is concerned. I have had 2 dogs that came from here and both animals were far and away the top 2 pets Ive ever had. They broke the mold after my red nose pit along with some 30 or more puppies rescued and taken in by S.C.R.A.P.S.

Everyone was so friendly and you could tell they definitely care about the animals. The kennels were clean, information about the pets was easy to find or ask someone about them for further details. It was a great experience to adopt our newest family member.

SCRAPS is a joke of a shelter. I went to look at adopting a dog yesterday and EVERY SINGLE DOG kennel (with a dog in it and a few without dogs) had dog poop and pee in them. Some of the dogs had been waking around in their own mess. None of the dogs looked to have had been bathed. I saw no less than 3 volunteers walking around talking to one another while those dogs sat in their own feces. This isn't the first time I've been there and seen such poor conditions. The first time there was a poodle caked in mud and poop. I visited 2 other shelters yesterday and they took MUCH better care of their animal. That place needs a major overhaul in management. These people are responsible for those poor animals and they're nit being taken care of.

The staff is nice and I like that one can buy inexpensive name tags here. Very much would like to see their facility be updated however. I'm sure they could do much more with a more up to date building.
