Been trying to save some cats and kittens. SCRAPS set traps and caught the mother cat. I called early in the afternoon and reported it. They said someone would be out to pick it up by 6pm. Called again at 7pm because it was still in the trap. "Uhh... I don't know why no one picked it up... We're coming out to reset the traps in the morning, we'll get it then." WTH???? What part of ANIMAL PROTECTION don't you get?

A great place to get the newest member of the family! Both SCRAPS and the humane society are wonderful. Please help them out by donating what you can. Either with pet food, supplies or money. All will help them help the animals.

These people are amazing!! I found a stray cat laying on the ground on a boiling day, barely moving. Its tail had been cut off and was bleeding. He also looked really sick. My husband and I managed to capture him (he was so weak it was easy) and took him to SCRAPS. We dropped him off for free and went on our way. A few weeks later we went in to look at the cats and found him in one of the recovery kennels. He had been treated for a sinus infection and they had to amputate more of his tail to keep the infection from spreading. He looked SO much better than when we had found him! He has lots of food and a squishy bed to sleep on. He was just a stray, random cat on the street that no doubt cost them a lot of money and trouble to treat, but they saved his life anyway! Thank you, SCRAPS for all that you do! you are SO appreciated!!

A young boy that is friends with my son had a pet chihuahua. He had this dog for over 4 years. His dog apparently got out of their fence on accident. The boy called Scraps to report it as soon as he figured out his dog was missing. He got a call that they found his dog, but by the time he called back they informed him his dog had been adopted out, even though Scraps knew he was looking for his dog. My friends son just lost his mother in a car accident 2 weeks ago. Now no mother and no dog! This young man even tried to contact Scraps to plead with them to find out who adopted his dog to try to talk with the people and explain that this was a family pet that got out. Scraps would not do anything for him. Very disappointing that Scraps does not care about families and their pets are reuniting them. Scraps cares about writing tickets for profit and making money off adoptions! I will never endorse this business! I will give my business and donations to Humane Society only! Word of mouth goes a long way... and I will tell people this heartbreaking story to let them know what kind of business Scraps is running every chance I get! Shame on you Scraps!

Scraps is a place to avoid. Remember this is NOT an adoption agency. These are lost animals that they confiscate and take to homes. If your pet ends up here do not call as they do not use phones. Get there immediately and be firm. They are not nice people and stay firm. My family lost our pet to these people.

I can't hate them because they did have my dog and he was safe instead of walking the streets lost BUT..... money grubbing bastards charged me 130 to pick up my dog which had only been there a couple hours. He was old and at the end of his life when he had gotten out of the yard and was lost. They charged me for a license even though I told them he was going to be put to sleep sooner than later so we didn't need it and they had given him vaccinations that he didn't need, claiming it's the law. They charged me for a vet check because he was limping so bad, but that vet didn't do anything except guess that he might have been hit by a car and prescribed pain pills. The day after we got him home he had to be put to sleep. He was in horrible pain. Even though he was old and we knew he was going to be put down soon he was clearly hurt during his few hours of being missing. So I am def grateful they picked him up and made him safe but I am 100% sure it was all about the money!! The girl at the counter was a rude uncaring POS.

I love SCRAPS and their commitment to protecting animals against abuse and cruelty, as well as their commitment to protecting people from animals that were treated or raised with abuse and cruelty and sadly do harm to humans which then make the animal a danger to people and thus making the outcome for the animal(s) and people involved less then ideal but, knowing SCRAPS is around and sincerely dedicated to educating and helping people and animals a like is helping and will continue to help make Spokane and it's surrounding cities a much safer, healthier, happier, more enjoyable habitat for both our beloved companions of all shapes and sizes furry or not and their loveable owners makes me feel hopeful for the future of our animals and the people who still abuse animals in that they can still be educated and taught how to treat animals with respect and humainly rather then with cruelty and abuse and just like with people they will have better relations and outcomes with their animals as well as give animals a healty chance at life as well as love and companionship so, I just hope SCRAPS keeps doing what they are doing cause it does bring a smile to.my face knowing they are there to look out for the animals of our region.

They seem to really take care of the animals. Very nice facility. We spoke to a volunteer, and she was very nice and knowledgeable about the animals, and they loved her! All the dogs got excited and they heard her voice. That makes me feel good about the way the animals are treated.

Very nice personnel working there. Most being volunteers so I find that a plus. Clean....animals were in clean cages with food and water. In the receiving this young girl helped me. Was so sweet and took the time to comfort me and give ideas as to where our cat might have ended up. I felt better when I left there and I was upset heading in. Wonderful place.

Depending on the day some staff are more helpful than others. I was told that if my cat needed one to come back and pick up a cone after her spay. The tattoo was very bothersome to her as if she was allergic to it or it was burning her. When I went to work she had ended up licking the area quite bad. The film (which someone said was plasma??) seemed to almost leave a chemical burn. When I took her in it was really red and scabby and had some yellow infectious discharge.
They took her back and looked at her and the two ladies who were helping me only offered a location for me to buy a cone I would use for a maximum of 12 hours, rather than offer me a shelter cone like the woman before had mentioned. I was displeased with that specific visit. I had spent all this time going to the shelter worried about what looked like a burn not just unappreciated licking, and was told to spend money on something I would never use again.
While I am thankful they helped my baby and that they allowed her to stay with me since we are bonded, I wish some employees seemed more concerned about your concerns rather than only concerned about theirs.
They are still a business even if they are a shelter, they should treat each customer as if they are looking for a 5 star review from them. I know it's difficult but it's always good to offer the most help that you can rather than turning someone away as if they have no idea what they are talking about.
My cat is fine now, but her tattoo is nearly gone, due to the irritation and burn like area, most of it flaked off in a large, painful, and clearly at some point infectious scab. It was just covered in dried pus and blood.
I also wasn't sure that the anesthesia was supposed to have affects on her all day. She still had a wobble to her walk even 12 hours later.

Haven't gotten an animal from here yet but I frequent here just to pet the animals. The building is well kept for the most part. There have been a few times where for the dogs especially, the place has been unclean but it's understandable considering the number if animals they have to keep.

I want to love what Scraps is doing, but we adopted two kittens and within a week one is suffering from a serious URI and the other is getting the same sickness. We took them to a real vet as the workers at Scraps gave little concern to the kittens health and gave us hard to administer pills. $400 later we are hand feeding the one and concern it will not make it. The vet said that it was very common for animals from Scraps to come out of there sick. I understand it is a non-profit and volunteer driven but this was a horrible experience for us, if the one cat dies I know it will break my wife's heart. Be careful with what you adopt, and I would suggest having them seen immediately by a real vet not the people at Scraps.

I like this place a lot, I wish they had more volunteers to help keep it clean and take animals out to play. I understand how hard that can be and for the most part I think they do a great job here.

This is a seriously huge facility. I recently took a tour and was impressed with the floor space and layout. SCRAPS rescues all types of animals from the usual dogs and cats, to rabbits, guinea pigs, snakes, turtles, and every other imaginable pet including horses. I've heard they even once had a baby crocodile. This is a great program that is sorely needed. They offer many services to the public from pet training courses, affordable veterinary clinics, spaying and neutering, and stray and feral pick up, to foster and adoption programs. Any member of the public is welcome to visit and meet the animals looking for a new home.

I was very unimpressed with my visit a few days ago. We were told over the phone that there would not be an impounding fee as long as we could come get the dogs. No time frame was given and we said we would be there as soon as one of us could. We both work and lunch time was my first opportunity (12:30). I arrived and was told I was not authorized to pick up one of the dogs because my name was not Sarah Woodly so that took time to sort out. After saying I would not pay the fee, I was told I could speak to a manager/supervisor. I waited over an hour, after the woman helping me appeared to come back from lunch. I never got to speak to anyone and the two front desk ladies kept changing their stories about impounding and impounding fees.

Had we not been told we wouldn t have to pay the impounding fee, this never would have been a problem. I would have gladly paid, but the fact that no one could get their stories straight was frustrating. Not too mention my extemely long wait-time.

This place is terrible. Negative ratings. They trap pets and charge a ransom over $100. I am trying to get my cat back and have been on hold for over two hours, and I had called 15 minutes after opening hours!

This February they trapped my little brother's cat and when we got him back he was so sick it took two weeks to get him back to health, and my other cats got sick, as well.

They are pirates and scams.

SCRAPS is the best trsource in our area for animal control and more importantly, animal protection. I have been there a numbrt of times and have infact gotten 2 dogs from there. Both have been the most loving and gentle pets that I have ever owned. The way I see it, getting your pet at SCRAPS not only saves a life, you will also be helping to support a great cause by paying the fees and staying current with pet registration so that future homeless and abused or neglected animals.will have a safe and humane place to stay for a bit.

TOTAL SCAM

TOTAL SCAM
The first choice program basically charges you 25 bucks to look at dogs. If you want any hope of adopting a pet, you are REQUIRED to pay this 25 or someone else will take it. After that is done they will give the owner plenty of time to reclaim any dog (even without paperwork), so 99% of the time your 25 bucks will be wasted. Oh did i mention this is all nonrefundable? Then on top of the 25, you need to pay an additional 87 bucks if you are fortunate enough to get that close.

It is far more profitable for them to have the owned pay the fees to reclaim their dog, so they will favor the owner 100% of the time, even if you complete the adoption process.

Seriously, this place is a lost and found, not an adoption center. Be aware, because they will try to convince you otherwise.

Good for adopting pets. Bad if they took your pet from you. That was my experience. They didn't want to give our cat back because of varience in light. Yeah. The pictures we had of our cat were all taken outside. So he looked lighter than he was. In the dark of a kennel, yeah he's gonna look different. But we knew our cat. Almost had a fight trying to prove he was ours. Not happy.

Employees and volunteers are nice. Place is kept pretty clean for this type of building.
I got my furry cat here and he s great.

I really like the gated yards available to meet the dog a lot, it gives you a better chance to interact with the dog in a more natural setting. I helped my mom adopt a dog from there, and it turned out the dog had severe heartworm. My mom called them and they said they dont check or treat for that, but that she could return him simce it was within 30 days. Returning him would put all of the dogs surrounding him at risk and he wouldn't get treatment, so he found a good forever home with my mom.
