Kind, caring professionals that do their very best to care for our dogs. We use them as our primary Vet Clinic here in Florida.
I've mostly dealt with the Vet Office aspect of this company (though I did adopt one of my fur babies from them through PetSmart Adoptions) and I have to say that every visit was a positive and insightful one. There is normally a wait even with an appointment but, the quality of care you receive is worth it. I just got my other cat spayed and microchipped and they followed up with me the day after to check up and answer any (and all) of my questions/concerns with true empathy. I would strongly recommend SPCA Florida Adiption Center in Lakeland!
I took my pit here and was told he showed his teeth so they couldnt take him he was verry happy going in and barking at the other dogs but when i went to pick him up i noticed hair missing on top of his nose and he was scared wanting to rush out im wondering what they did to him to make him react this way
Nice to adopt pets like iguana, cats snd dogs. Kitty cats or adults; puppy dogs or adults.
SPCA Florida is a wonderful facility with caring staff for pets and people. Sometimes wait times happen even with appointments but you never feel rushed particularly in the exam rooms when they work with the pets. Maybe that explains the delays sometimes. Great place overall.
This place has been a lifesaver for me and my animals. Connie Johnson is the nicest person ever. She fights for the animals and their rights right. The volunteer there are always friendly. And that makes for a great atmosphere and I'm sure that's because of their characters the animals are well taken care of. This is a place to save an animal's life and adopt if you are looking for a pet and a part of your family
Sells sickly dogs just to make money. Sold my son and daughter in law a dog they said was only 3, but is obviously at least 8 or older. He had a rotten tooth and bladder problems, and wanted us to pay the money for his procedures.
This animal rescue center is one of the best I have seen. I have been involved in animal welfare for over 30 years. Staff involved with animal rescue usually become burnt out and miserable due to the horrible things they see on a daily basis. Staff here is always happy, kind and helpful. The volunteer section is so well organized, I could not believe it when I moved here! Their euth rate is very low and training staff is excellent. I would
Took very good care of my cat as we had to let her go to heaven
They are here to assist the county deal with injuried and unwanted animals. It take a special individual to care after these abandoned sometimes abused creatures. With the help of our caring population such as my wife and her coworkers at Publixs' Lakeland Security Team that volunteer their time and money by donating cat food, dog food, as well as other types of food, toys, and treats for these animals, until someone comes and give them a forever loving home.
SPCA were they only ones to help my family when my Doggo Princess was ill for over a week. She in the end required a euthanization but thanks to them my pupper of 12 years passed in comfort and dignity. I'll never be able to repay them for what they did for me. Blessings
It was my first time adopting we came here on a Monday at 5pm, my family &I start looking around for a dog females. Prior of us going over we call an ask if they had females dog an the answer was yes.... we drove from Brandon an we got there, there wasn't no females so we saw a dog name Eli an we want to meet with him, mind u we didn't want Male. Like i said before we got there at 5pm closing time was 6, this people saw me sign in with my family an after we met with the dog name Eli we were ready to adopt this people come an tell me that I couldn't do the adoption cause it was 533 and they have a deadline of 530 to adoot.... so explain what kind of service is this? Do u want for the dogs to find there forever home? Because working like this u wont be... thanks for nothing.....
I called and spoke to Jen or jeni in the medical side to get info on spaying my dog. She already sounded agitated by telling me they were booked till oct which I was ok with when I told her I wanted to proceed with setting up an appointment she hung up on me. I called back several times and since they have caller Id she ignored my call. I called from my home phone and guess what they answered and told me to hold then they never came back on which either she transferred me or after so much time it will send you back to the line. I left a message explain my frustration. It shouldn t take voicemail to say hey I called back when they never attempted to call me back to first time she hung up on me and the second time she put me on hold and left me hanging.Mind you they close at 6 I starting calling around4:45 and got no where. They called me back at 5:49 that s only cause of the message I left which by the way my phone number was never left so what does that go to say. by this time I know longer wished to continue to move fw. Honestly if you don t like your job where you just give horrible customer service cause your frustrated then why bother coming to work.
Loved it here. It was so clean and the animals were well taken care of.
We adopted a 4 year old lab mix named Donovan. He was heartworm positive (adamantly disclosed) and could not have found a better pup or facility. Donovan had been in shelters for 6-8 months. During our first visit, staff was very clear about his pre-existing condition as well as his personality. He has a lot of energy, but loves to be a couch potato with you... and likes to dig holes in the yard then lay in them. They could not have been more on point. I could go on and on about how amazing Donovan is, but the facility was amazing. It must be excruciating to work in a shelter for animal lovers, but those that truly care make the difference. At the first vet appointment (following his adoption), both the vet and techs were very invested in him. He hates exams, but loves people to no end - even after snapping at the staff. On a follow up appointment, the vet tech even made a point to mention she remembered him and missed him. They really took care of him. I received phone call updates at every step of the heartworm treatment. When I had post-procedure questions, they were clear and concise. I will always recommend this facility, both for adoptions and veterinary matters. They made an amazing impression and earned our respect & appreciation.
The medical center is extremely badly run. In the past three years, whenever I have an appointment for regular check ups, I have often waited an hours or more past my appointment to be helped. Once my dog accidentally injured her leg, and therefore could not wait a week for an appointment, so I took her as a walk in. I waited hours to be helped. It also doesn't help that the waiting room has the most uncomfortable benches. When I have called via phone, I am on hold for a minimum of 10 to 12 mins, and once for over 38 min. I shall be looking for a better run vet in the near future.
When I was there they looked like they had good business
The volunteers here are wonderful, very helpful with information and assisting with the pets.
The people in the front, customer was mean. Maybe have a bad morning, but is not my fault. I just let you know for the best. I know you can fixed.
The vets here are so great. We love how much you all care for each pet like they are your only patient. We don't trust no one else with our baby girl!!!! Keep up all the positive, good work y'all are doing.
We recently adopted Rickie and Simon and we couldn't be happier with the both of them!! They have taken to each other and get along great. They have found their forever home and are spoiled rotten. We'd also like to give out a huge thank you to the staff members that assisted us with this process and their positive personalities. Thank you all at the SPCA for your hard work and dedication
I take all 3 of my pit bulls there 4 all THEIR needs.
Arrived early just to be seen an 2 hours later. Every time some one came in for there appointment they was seen within 10 mins. Not me and my dog. Very unhappy. Almost every time I come here I wait for a long time. This time was the worst. I will never come here again. I rather pay the extra money to be seen on my appointment time than have to wait this long.
Great spca! Very clean and everyone was so friendly and helpful. I will be returning to adopt.
I adopted my kitten from here and she was too young to have her rabies shot so they told us to bring her back on the 14th of sep. And to call the day before to verify we were coming so i did they told us to bring her in on the scheduled date when we got there they told there was no vet and we couldnt even get an appointment to bring her back
Spca of Lakeland is a wonderful place. I had went to 3 different veterinarians that all told me they would do a surgery for my dog, all 3 fell through and over-charged me for doing nothing. After the surgeon at the Spca heard of this, he preformed my dogs surgery next-day, and at $400 less than the other places wanted to charge! My dog is happy and healthy as ever, thanks to the awesome surgeon at Spca. Thank you for being such an amazing place
A great addition process. Professional and friendly staff.
Our beloved babies. Tito was adopted from this facility back in 2003. He passed a couple of years ago. But he was always treated here. He was also sent to heaven here. A process that truly affected our family for almost 2 to 3 years. That is why we brought our newest edition Coco. So far everything is going well after her spay surgery. They called the day after to find out how Coco was doing and how was the actual scar healing. The only thing was that the Elizabethan Collar given to her to wear home, was way to big for Coco (she's only 5 months old and 7 lbs.) so I had to go and get her a new one the following day. She is now moving about and eating well. We are getting her ready for her first plane travel. Wish us luck! Again thank You
The volunteers are great! They take great care of the animals.
The set up for cats is amazing. I almost felt bad taking a cat from there lol
You have to stand in line nearly 20 minutes just to get a flea pill I hate this place my vet is alot better wont be coming back here.
Great place! I'm a foster parent there and I love it.
The Florida SPCA facility at Lakeland is a very good, professional, Adoption Center. After losing my well loved Welsh Terrier Oliver at age 13 on November 2, we were passing through Lakeland on November 6 and decided to visit the Center to check it out and see if they might have a rescue dog I would want to consider adopting. Much to my surprise a mixed breed long-haired chocolate, tan and white chested 5 year old "Chiweenie" (part Chihuahua part Dachshund) captured my attention. Visiting with Zeus while there, he immediately jumped onto my lap, and wanted to greet me and cuddle. That did it. I adopted him on the spot. We have had him now for almost two months and it would be impossible to find a more gentle and loveable . Although previously abused and neglected, Zeus fits right in. He was well cared for at the Lakeland facility during his short time there, and I could not be more pleased with the care and attention given to me while completing the adoption application. My questions were answered, and Zeus came home with me. He was taken to my local Veterinarian for a check-up and some needed attention. A few days later the SPCA telephoned me to followup on my life with Zeus. I have no hesitantcy to endorse the work and effort made by the staff and volunteers at that facility. They are doing wonderful work. Pictures of Zeus as he is today can be seen on my FB page in the publicly available Album created to document his life with us in his new home.
All I can say it RUN LIKE HELL, DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET THERE.!!! Staff is RUDE and they have a Your beneath me complex.
They do great work. I have gotten two pets from here.
This facility has brought hours of joy and love into our home.
We drove a total of 4 hours to adopt a specific dog, we met and loved each other, our current dog also met this dog and they were great together minus the fact that my dog corrected the younger dog by showing teeth for 1.5 seconds (not even a bad thing, this is how dogs communicate). These want-to-be dog whisperers decided that because my dog didn't want to sniff the other dogs butt that we couldn't adopt that day and had to come back the following day to do another visit. We were assured that they would hold the dog for us so we left, convinced we had found the next member of our family. I took off work the next day and drove back down just to discover they had adopted our dog out an hour after we left the previous night. Minus the pseudo experts parading around as staff, the facility is very nice. Honestly, it looks like these guys are cornering the market on shelter donations. Save your money for a place that isn't already swimming in cash.
Staff is super friendly answers your questions and the animals are taken care of
This is an admiral company offering services to the community from pet adoptions to donations of pet food and suppliess to the people who may need the extra help. They also provide shelter to strays and surgical procedures and grooming to pets when needed. The staff are compassionate to the animals and show it on many different levels. Everyone is personable and welcome anyone who may want to volunteer. If you would like to help, foster homes to the animals are greatly appreciated and in high demand. Show some compassion by fostering a pet today!
I have never been there before but I here so much that I like it I'm looking for a pug I can't seem to find him or her
People are really nice there, adoptions are fairly quick after meet and greet goes well. My dog went home with medications for chronic dry eye. I'm used to it as my first min pin had it, he is now 18 years old. I'm glad I found my little 6 year old daisy girl. She had fun camping with us last weekend. Thanks for a great addition to my little family.
Everyone and everything went quick and easy. Everyone was friendly and they took good care of my little one. I will continue to come here for all my pet needs, and you will be helping immensly donating to the rest of the little ones here. If you cannot adopt, donate, if you cannot donate then bring your little here. They will take good care of them.
Absolutely amazing and caring staff! All truly dedicated and go the extra mile
Staff was quick and courteous. Just a reminder , you need to make an appointment. Our appointment was filled out online , what we were looking for , and then up to a month in advance. they are backlogged because of Corona and do not take walk-ins.
SPCA too expensive to adopt a dog$175 is kind of steep when the pound if you're 55 over is only $30 and you get all shots and neuter spay I'm not crazy about the SPCA I think they're after the dollar drop a dog off they charge you pick a dog up they really charging forget it
Beautiful place and they're wonderful with my babies
They are doing a great service for these animals. I've adopted a few dogs from here. The best dogs I've ever had.
Was quick and easy to get my pet dropped off to be fixed
I ve been taking my cat here since he was weeks old. Never had a bad experience! My mom adopted her 3-legged wonder from here and they were great throughout the entire process.
As a repeat customer I have had my pets to the Lakeland SPCA location several times. I used to prefer to use them because they seemed very honest. However each and every time I go to an appointment if it is a 245 appointment, my pet is not seen until 330 or in he case today with a 245 appointment it is now 3:52 as I write this and still have not seen the vet. While the honesty of this establishment is appreciated, the consistent disregard for the time of the customers is astonishing. I come 25 miles for this however today will be the last visit. I m sure I can find an honest vet office in Plant City that does in fact respect the time of its customers as well as honestly and integrity in treating my pets. So far 2:45 APPOINTMENT ...it s 3:54 and have not seen the vet.
I took my rabbit Gump to the vet to get fixed yesterday, staff was very welcoming and kept conversation with everyone that came in. I also foster for them and the fostering staff is so friendly and helpful. Love being able to be of some help even if I can t adopt more pets. Great place with even better people!
Thievery and emotional blackmail doctor" is sarcastic cruel and heartless They almost killed my puppy, and tried to charge me a boat load of money to do so. We took him from there to all creatures. If we hadn't brought him there they would have killed him for sure It took 4 days of intensive treatment to undo what the spca did, including aspirating the charcoal they never should have given him. I'd give negative stars if it were possible.
They were so kind and nice. Called on a Saturday for an emergency appointment.. They got me in that afternoon. Very nice. Clean. Friendly. My cat is feeling so much better now
I went to this facility with a cat in critical condition being severely anemic secondary to what is likely toxic mold exposure. The Doctor finally saw my 4 year old Maine Coon a Dr. Tuesday Corina who was very rude and unprofessional even asking what my prognosis was as if to suggest I was being unreasonable seeking any treatment beyond euthanization. The Dr. Tuesday Corino performed bloodwork where she fabricated the results and came back stating my cat was Feline Leukemia Positive when I had just had him tested and know she could not determine this by the way she claimed she did. The SPCA did everything "NoT" to help my cat not even offering a referral to advanced care and lying about a denied care credit app they claimed to of run for me to only find when I got home and applied, was approved. When questioned about the Doctors findings and asking for a return call one to date (over two months has never been reveived). When asking about the proof of running the credit app, I was told they could not produce it. And to think we give to this organization because they are supposed to care most. They offered no assistance at all and even went to great lengths by lying to euthanize my cat. Think twice about this tax free corporation that charges for every service, offers no assistance and with me, even lied about clinical findings. There are plenty of vet owned practices who genuinely care... This to me is simply an organization to preys on your weakness for donations for money while enjoying tax free status with no regard for anything except cash.
Found our new dog here. The dog is great but facility is a hot mess.
Went to the SPCA shelter last Friday and adopted Poncho, he's a Pointer mix. The people working there are wonderful and caring. Poncho is a great addition to our family. He's very loving and listens well. We are so excited to have him and give him a good home.
Wonderful people helping animals, Which helps us be better human beings. I am fostering a mama with 2 babies. They enjoy being loved, Eating good food provided by SPCA, Supplements provided by SPCA. You get Large crates like the one I have, Baby Blankets, Kitty litter... All you add is love. Buster Brown, my little ESA loves Kittens. Mommy seemed cautious at 1st but after watching her babies crawl all over Buster As he lay by their crate, she started making little cooing sounds and sat quietly While Buster rolled them around with his nose between his feet. If you can't adopt, consider fostering. You care for them And they are ready to be adopted in a few weeks. Nothing like the feeling of sending your little graduates out to find a loving home Through the SPCA.
Had three young kitties to surrender. Unfortunately they were too light and not social enough. But the woman that was in the surrender department was so very pleasant. Only have Shellyr on the paperwork. Rather than just refuse them outright, she got my grandmother to foster them for a couple weeks. Hopefully, when they go back, they will be the required weight and will surely be more social. She made a heartbreaking experience more tolerable. We want to give these babies every chance to get a good home. Please someone adopt these babies!
I love how outstanding and caring the staff treats my pets and people here. Better than any private Vet. If I could rate them with 10 stars I will do so.
What a fabulous place. Super clean and well organized. Volunteers are very friendly and welcoming. We ended up adopting our adorable Chiweenie. They took good care of her up to 6 months after the adoption. They are a non-kill shelter. We still stop by to visit the new dogs they have up for adoption. Maybe a little brother or sister for our baby? Lol
I love the Doctors and the Vet Tech's. This week end I saw Dr. Q. as they call her and I really think she is awesome and the vet tech was Heidy and she was awesome. I have always been happy with the Doctors and staff. The only drawback for me is that the prices went up on some services and being on a fixed budget, well it has put me in a position of not being able to treat some of the issues that my 12 year old fur baby has. I do understand that the price increase allows them to save more fur babies in the long run.
Although they did take good care of my dog. I rescued her from this facility. But when I took her in for her yearly, there was a hidden fee. No explanations and upon arriving at home I checked the bag and was not given her rabies tag. No explanation at time of visit. When I called to ask why there wasn't a tag, receptionist was not friendly when when asked about the rabies tag. It was explained that was an extra charge. Why was there a hidden fee with no explanation before hand and no one told me there was no tag because that was extra money? I'm not understanding this. in four het yearly there were chat charges in there I was noir told about but didn't give me her rabies tag because it was more money. Why didn't they charge me without me knowing like the rest off the charges?
I've HEARD SPCA is a money making organization for the executives. I'VE BEEN TOLD ANIMALS ARE NOT PROTECTED RATHER THEY ARE KILLED TO MAKE ROOM FOR MORE. IS THIS TRUE.? SO I CANT MAKE AN RECOMMENDATION!
All of the animals are cared for and treated well. I enjoy volunteering for them!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Center is very well organized and personnel is knowledgeable and professional.
What has happened? I was here 4 months ago everything was great. Today I was misinformed and not treated well. I spend my money trying to control the cat population do to neighbors that are not responsible. Last trip here.
We adopted two dogs from here both had allergies and we kept up with treatment and needs to provide a good quallity of life.we loved our dogs, this last dog died after 9 years and when we went to re home a 4 year old dog male and were ready to pay the 200.00 fee the girl showing us the dog had tatoos all over her an sc became difficult with us and then said we were going to keep the dog outside.we never said that.worst still her co worker backed her up. we have a daniells fenced in yard with a 24x10 screend lani with dog door so dog can come in or go out if they chose to do so ,also had automatic spicket on faucett so dog could always get fresh cold water. huge dog house and dog beds ,2 one inside and one outside. How can it be leagle for them to discriminate an interested dog lover like that? very hurt very dissapointed after almost 18 years of service there and tben slapped in the face!
They were very friendly and helpful with trying to get a feral neutered. I ended up adopting him so I didn't need their services, in the end, but the help they gave me with him was priceless!
I adopted my beautiful jade.. she had kennel cough and they continue care till she is all better
Very professional staff. Wait times are not too bad. The ASPCA is always an organization I try to support, they've never done me wrong and always help the animals in the community.
I think the new fees are Ridiculous. I m sure This means a lot more go to Polk County. Very disappointing to hear. Having a fee is one thing but that is just Ridiculous. That s not helping that s money making! Not about the animals!
