The prices are affordable and the staff is nice but the scheduling is SO OFF for vet visits. I have 6 animals and have made multiple trips to get them updated on vaccines, and every single visit my wait time has exceeded one hour at the least even though I booked appointments ahead of time. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal but one of my pets is a very recent rescue who is still terrified of everything, so waiting that long for her was extremely stressful.

This place is awesome!!! Great place to bring the family and stop in and check out the dogs and cats for adoption. Staff has always been extremely helpful with any questions or concerns we've had about the animals. You can also request one on one time with any of the cats or dogs. If your looking for a new addition to the family, then this SPCA location has the cats and dogs to choose from!

Good as far as helping the animals, however feel like they're overpriced. Most of the staff are volunteers. Check out the Polk county animal control. The prices are way cheaper and every animal comes micro-chipped

They need zero stars! They were willing to kill my dog, but not help her! Read what happened: I Brought my baby in super sick a month ago as a walk-in after calling ahead & traveling over an hour to get there. I waited at least 4 hours. The exam was not thorough, the vet half listened to what I had to say, and they were annoyed that I couldn't afford full blood work & x-rays. I agreed to pay for basic blood work & while I ran out to the parking lot, my daughter & dog were sent to the front desk for discharge! They were going to have the receptionist relay the lab results?! I was expected to have no questions? I grabbed a tech & said that we needed to be in the exam room to finish the appointment I was paying for. The vet gave no preliminary diagnosis or best guess, but prescribed antibiotics (that it turns out she didn't need & caused even more vomiting, dehydration & severe pain!! I did all I could on my end to keep her hydrated, etc., then called back & told them about everything happening... I re-introduced the antibiotic by itself only to discover that it was a culprit for the excessive vomiting. I started my baby on Pepcid myself after my own research. had the vet listened to me describe the vomit she would've known it was stomach acid!). Anyway, as I researched the internet like crazy hoping to find funding to get a diagnosis & treatment (I'm now disabled & a victim of identity theft which means I cannot get any credit & was immediately rejected by Care Credit b/c they can't access my credit reports), I found that they have a Guardian Angel fund. I called desperate still for a diagnosis. First I was told that the fund was depleted, then I explained what their site claims, then was routed to someone else. I spoke to the medical director/lead vet, Dr. Demokus (spelling?), the next day who told me that the fund is only for stray animals. She explained that there's a Safety Net fund, but since my dog is 10 yrs old, she's not eligible. (It didn't matter that only weeks before my dog thought she was still a puppy! Very healthy, high energy). She then said that they could help me with funding to euthanize her! They were willing to kill her, but not even diagnose her!!! Turns out that my little girl is having a gastritis/pancreatic issue & she got all the tests she needed and then some from Dr. Steven Dunham in Winter Haven. HE is amazing & allowed for me to make automatic payments monthly from my bank to pay the balance! And his prices were lower than SPCA/McClurg by $80 on X-rays alone!! SPCA listed their fees on my dog's treatment plan as "Radiography...$185" and "Additional radiography...$39". Dr. Dunham charges only $28 exam fee as a new patient. He's a Godsend, really! And my post is genuine, not fake or paid for. He & his staff ACTUALLY care about the animals and their parents! Seriously, go see Dr. Dunham, you'll never regret it! I honestly would've wind up thinking that it's my dog's time & put her down to end her incredible pain & suffering. That's where I was quickly heading. Meanwhile, she has a 100% treatable condition & her X-rays show her in excellent health otherwise, not even arthritis! I just cannot tell you how distraught I was watching my baby suffer 24/7 for an entire month! And I will NEVER make another donation to the SPCA again!

I brought my babygirl Bella in to get spayed. Everyone was so compassionate and caring. I can tell the team at SPCA of Lakeland truly cares about giving the animals quality care. It was a quick and seamless visit, everything was well explained to me. They even called me the day after to check on Bella and how she was doing post surgery. I will definitely be recommending and coming back to this facility. Thank you all for what you do at the SPCA.

What a wonderful place! The catteries were beautifully set up with such care taken to have quiet areas, toys, food and litter. There was staff in each one and someone who could tell you about each kitty. I was very happy to see so many cats adopted yesterday. The kittens were too cute and so friendly. Please support this place.

Makes no difference whether you have an appointment or not! Even though I always have appt I am told the wait will be 30-45 minutes, expect to spend a good 2-3 hrs start to finish even for a routine heartworm test Finally after 67 mins 45 mins from appt at 12:30 and still waiting.... An Hour and counting....

I am disgusted by their treatment. Very unprofessional. They put the wrong dosage on both medication bottles they sent home for my kitty. Over dosage on one and under dosage on another. Today went back in after 3 days of wrongful dosing my cat when i suspected an issue and they were so rude. It was THEIR mistake. And some tech girl from the back came out and handed me a new bottle and basically sent me on my way. I asked her twice about the dangers of what they did and she got snippy w ME. Very nasty. So i just grabbed the bottle and walked out. As i got outside she hollered " have a wonderful day.". Just to be more rude. It was sarcastic. I have spent alot of money there. Will never go back to that clinic.

I had a horrible experience with the facility, I rescued a kitten that a car had hit, and was laying in the road, took it to this spca, and the people were not caring at all, they were rude and we're only concerned about me paying them! I was so shocked at this behavior, I was like, are you kidding me!? I thought this was a place to bring an injured cat to be cared for, and at least act like you give a crap about the poor hurt kitten! If you rescue an injured animal, it's no way in he'll the place to take it, better off just taking it to the closest vet u can find.

Excellent place for adoption of cats and small and large dogs. They give it to you sterilized, vaccinated, dewormed and clean. They give you a little bag with food and other things. A very clean place and an excellent staff. They have a hospital that cares for the adoptees and you can bring your own and it is cheaper than veterinarians from outside. I am happy to have adopted my beautiful kitten Luna and I will take her to her routine checkups always. She will be loved and cared for and will receive our love of Family forever.

So just to make sure you all know they do not keep their google updated. They claim to be open and they will say they are open but their doors are locked, that s not open. We drove an hr to come visit and they refused to let us in. They said they were booked for the day and I was standing there at the door, there was no one there but the workers. So they successfully wasted 2 hours of my time and hopefully because of this this review they will not waste yours.

I took my puppy to the SPCA Lakeland on 10-23-18. I got the puppy packet which cots 69.00. I was told that this include all 3 distemper shots (DA2PPv) for my pup.I thought that was a good deal. I was told 4 times that all of her distemper shots were included in that. I took her back today 11-14-18 and told them that we were under the puppy packet like they told me to do. Their response was, "Okay". I go back with my dog and come back out and my bill was 100.00. I was told that the exam and distemper shot was not covered today. Now mind you last time she was here they did a fecal exam and no worms but gave her dewormer because they told me it was all part of the puppy package. Today they gave her another fecal exam which cost 14.27 plus a disposal fee for 1.59. plus for the dewormer it cost 9.52. Plus the distemper shot (DA2PPv) Had I known it was all going to cost me money I would not have gotten the dewormer that I didn't want her to have because to me what is the point of over medicating her at 3 months old?? This place is NOT CREDIBLE and I don't recommend it and I won't take my dog back to them!!!!! Only gave them 1 star because I had to!!!

Great place if you have money cheaper than alot of people but there is no help for low income people with dogs but they will neuter your dog free I believe people and pets were made to breed and multiply do it only if there is health problems with my dog .

I got my 1st dog jaxx from here he is perfect but he was a transfer and wasn't there long. I went back and got Emma and thus dog has bad issues with men. The guy had a plastic bottle with 4 rocks in it and would use that to scare them into doing what he wanted. We brought jaxx back to meet with Emma to see how they act around eachother and the whole time they had their tails between their legs while this scumbag almost hit jaxx in the face with it. It was heart breaking. The shelter is far from clean every time I've gone it's absolutely disgusting I was there for about 2 hours and felt sick to my stomach. The staff is rude as hell till they see your gonna spend money then they get nice. The scumbag who clear as day abuses these dogs had a grown out mohawk tall skinny guy you will know when you see him because he will make you feel uncomfortable. We had to take Emma back due to her aggression issues she repeatedly bit me breaking skin every time I have her 5 weeks to stop and it all got worse and after seeing how she was treated I can see why she was so aggressive. I'm tempted to go to the local news and give them a good story to shed some light to that dark nasty place. I honestly would not go back I'll go to another spca before I ever go back to theirs. The worst part is gabby and I loved tbat dog whole heartedly and she will probably never get adopted cuz of this. Also most of the dogs there look like they are about to fall over and die.

My first time going there with my cat. He's indoor and a big boy, but they treated him with wonderful care! The staff is friendly, helpful, and the Vet is wonderful. The prices are the best! I adopted a doggy from the pound so I'll be bringing her in also! This is my go to place from now on for my pets! I highly recommend this place! Thank you!

I had to take my 14 year old dog there today to be put down. The entire staff was so caring and compassionate. They made the closure tolerable and comfortable. I recommend them for all facets of pet care. They are awesome.
