Great place to tour or take photos. Lots of history-- try and find all of the bronze stars on the outside of the building.
A beautiful state building with lush grounds and great walking paths. Many monuments of historic figures and lots of history! Take the free tour if you have the chance to and the time to spend, it's worth it!
So beautiful from the outside. Easy parking. Didn't get to go inside because of timing.
Beautiful building, great tour, well worth the visit.
A very memorable experience especially visiting the Senate.
Special. A great experience when the House is in session. The wheels of progress actually turn here.
This place is way cooler on the inside than I thought it would be. The standout room for me was the House of Representatives room, on the second floor I think. The gift shop had some good stuff and it wasn't ridiculously expensive either. I just wish they would bring back the seersucker ties with the Palmetto/Crescent on them!
We found the official state house tour to be informative and fun - well worth the time. Would highly recommend a visit if you've not check it out before.
A very cool building with great history! A must see!
In the heart of Columbia. The State House holds so much of SC history and is absolutely beautifully kept. Free tours almost every day!! A must see!!
We recently visited the State House for a School Choice Rally. This annual event was very exciting. The State House grounds were very clean and inviting. Our children felt very safe and we even threw Frisbees on the lawn with strangers. Although we were invited to go inside and speak with legislators, we elected to remain outside and enjoy the afternoon. We ate Chic-fil-a and watched as they distributed the overflow of sandwiches to strangers as they passed by. Another great place to visit in SC.
The best (only) thing to visit in Columbia in my opinion, otherwise stay on the Interstates..
The building is grand and the grounds are well kept.
Check out one of the free tours and learn a little history.
Very historical building and beautiful grounds and statues.
The gardens are nice here to walk around. I've conducted a fee of interviews sitting on benches with the interviewee on a nice warm day.
Very nice place to go see. Went with my sons school field trip and it was great.
Great place to visit and take in the history of South Carolina. The grounds are also very nice and well maintained.
Very nice Capitol building with exceptionally well maintained grounds
Love shooting video here. Such a great historical backdrop!
Gathering place for tyrants who run the most corrupt state government in the Union.
A place to discover local history, rich in symbols and a pleasant place to spend an afternoon with the family.
We visited this capitol building and took the tour. It is a very impressive building. There's lots of dark wood and blue decor. It is one of the most beautiful state capitols we have ever been to. If you're in Columbia, don't miss this. Also, the gift shop is great. It has lots of SC gear and memorabilia.
Beautiful building. Interesting history. Tour guides are knowledgeable and friendly. Met with the governor and saw representatives walking into session. Enjoyable time.
I liked it specially before pokestops were removed.
The State Capital of South Carolina is a very historical place. There is a lot of History associated with this building. It's very interesting and we'll worth your time going here.
The state house is absolutely beautiful! The interiors are breathtaking. There are guided tours that you can go on that are very informative and interesting. There is also a cool gift shop with a lot of fairly priced souvenirs. The staff at the state house were very friendly.
Holly Guacamole!!! This is one heck of a nice building. This is made out of nice stone. The carvings. The pillars. The garden. The statues. The displays. The whole complex is an absolutely stunning masterpiece.
You can also see people using it for cardio purposes and they use the front steps like it is a stair master. Once you get to the top of the steps you can take some stunning pictures of downtown Columbia bellow.
Stopped in to get some brochures to see what is going on.
The building is impressive and the surrounding gardens and monuments are a must see if visiting Columbia for the first time
Beautiful and interesting place to visit. The landscaping is gorgeous, and the history is intriguing. It's a definite must-see and convenient to get to in the heart of downtown.
I honestly just like going here because there are tons of portals for ingress. Took a while but the security is informed and totally ok with all hours visits. My little girl loves to slide down the front rails too ;-)
A great spot to stop for wedding day portraits! There is something very familiar about the architecture. Made me feel like I was back in DC.
Loved it. Great tour and great antiquities. Gift shop is loaded with cute stuff set great prices
Very beautiful grounds. All the statues and monuments we're amazing. I especially liked the monuments dedicated to the fallen First Responders and Soldiers.
Great point of interest to visit when you're in the city. Although not as elaborate as many state capitols I've seen, the tour was very comprehensive and educational. A short film was included to fill in the gaps and the gift shop was small, but had reasonably priced items and a friendly staff. Parking was easy and convenient.
Our state capital. Is an excellent place to travel to.
my sister used to work here, so i got to see the inside and outside quite a bit. It's Columbia's Pokemon Go hotspot. seriously, take a trip to the grounds and count how many people are catching pokemon.
A great place for tourists. Tooks some of my polish friends here and they found it very interesting.
Wonderful and informative. Active lobbying going on.
The statehouse is very nice and great to walk through or get a guided tour.
This is a beautiful place to visit. Great history exhibits and statues and very well kept. There are walking trails around it and benches to take a break or take it all in. This should be on any to do list when visiting Columbia.
The lady working the tour desk was super nice. I could tell she missed giving tours. Beautiful capital building. Even during this coronavirus they allow you to roam the building and grounds. Just no tour. Must see!!!
Want and amazing stair work out..... This is the place
Beautiful place to tour when you have some free time. Be sure to catch a free guided tour which they offer multiple times almost daily.
Learned a lot about the history of South Carolina went on a third grade field trip had a lot of fun
It was alright. I brought my little cousin here. Could have done without the politicians, but otherwise it was okay.
Great place for Christmas photos this time of year.
A very great sight to see in Columbia! They have tours available every 30 minutes that I highly recommend as they talk all about the history. The grounds are very beautiful as well.
Guided tours are available or you can walk around the State House (since there are two oval shaped pathways) and see the monuments yourself. There is metered parking around the State House. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
Knee deep in history. Took the guided tour. Was great
Beautiful, accessible to citizens, historic - the walls radiate history. Every SC citizen should go see inside at least once. You can even watch the House and Senate in session from the balcony!
Shot some timelapses here last night. It's a really cool building and a nice area in general. The security personnel was very friendly. They checked in on what we were doing and were fine with it.
We did not tour the inside, however the grounds outside are worth seeing. Really beautiful with a variety of flowers and trees through well maintained walkways.
A nice place for a weekend afternoon walk with the loved ones.
Well done guys.
Seen Mike H.!
Beautiful place with lots of history and amazing architecture.
I wish I could upload some awesome pictures of the state house
Beautiful architecture, love feeling a part of history everytime I visit.
I love visiting state houses, and this one was a great addition. It's a beautiful building with lots of history, obviously, and everyone I ran into that worked here was quite friendly. It's also one of the more comfortable state houses I've been to-there are lots of chairs for lounging and chatting.
Tour was informative; enjoyed the African American History Monument...it's a must-see!
Peaceful, can see squirrels along the trails. Good to take pictures here too
Free tour - if you live in Columbia, you need to see the inside at some point.
Visited the area this past weekend. Definitely a place of attraction, the people and local shops are great for anyone coming in to visit!
Great way to spend a free afternoon. There are free tours available and the guides are very knowledgeable.
A very sober but not beautiful Capitol, the gardens around it are well kept, but unfortunately I could not visit the inside of the building, with free entrance, as usual in the Campidogli of the various States.
Visited in August 2013.
