I spoke Shayla today about concerns of my benefits. Let me say she was the most unprofessional one yet. She wanted to rush me off the phone, without even answering my questions. But what can you expect when you are young and don't have the knowledge to answer a direct question. FYI they need more than 1 hour training!!!

Just like everyone else said on their review. I filed claims for months at a time. Every week. Jumped through hoops. Sat on hold and was put on the transfer merry-go-round for hours. Poor customer service. Slowest response time. Poor or nonexistent customer service. Hell if you had to rely on them. What is my tax money paying for!?!?

Maybe once I have gotten a good service person who was excellent at their job. Other than that I have been practically ignored on the phone and told they're too busy basically. They don't really have the answers to the questions and when they do have them it seems something goes wrong and they refer to me online and the online system is not working correctly. Something nefarious is up. It has gotten much worse in the last month. I'm convinced they are trying their best to knock away people who are not ambitious enough to make sure they get the unemployment they should have.

If I could give DEW a zero I would. I have been fighting for my benefits for months now. I have written appeals and letters. The responses were untimely and absolutely no help. No employee knows what they are talking about and each person you come in contact with after a 2 hour wait is no help. Its never a great day in South Carolina!!! You all are telling people that you have all these wonderful resources, but each one is a fail. Not to mention every employee is extremely unprofessional! I am ashamed to be from this state.

I have reactivated my UI claim after working for 9 months from August '20 to May '21. It's been a month, I am eligible for benefits, but my status is benefits exhausted. How is that possible when I only collected for 10 weeks last summer? You cannot get anyone on the phone, they don't respond to uploaded letters on their site, or hard copies mailed to them. I am certain they don't read these reviews or care that people need answers to their questions.

I spoke with Whitley today and she was so great. I was only on hold for about 30 minutes. she was so kind and offered me insight as to why my benefits hadnt been paid. She made sure to offer me my next steps and pointed me in the right direction. Im very thankful she was able to get me taken care of !

Did you know you can get unemployment for a period after moving out of state? Except you can t, because your hearing will be in person, in Columbia, SC with no other options, despite living 11 hours away and sharing your car with your working partner. Every barrier possible to deny you benefits is in place. Not to mention the responses from the call center are inconsistent each time.

I didn't want to add on to the negative feedback that DEW is notorious for. However, I received a callback regarding a request from a condescending employee. I had already spoken to someone about it and had an understanding, however, additional banter was not needed for this situation. People wait extended times to speak to representatives, and cannot get their benefits in a timely manner. Please answer the lines for those on hold who need immediate assistance or have claim issues/ concerns.

I have been trying to resolve a dispute with DEW for 5 months. I have spent hours on hold. I have been hung up on. I have been lied to. I have been treated like dirt. Government employees work for us. They should start doing their jobs.
