Yes it is a chain, but there is a reason they became popular in the first place. They the secret to their BBQ is they do an excellent job smoking the meat.

Fantastic food. Service and wait times can be hit or miss.

This is decent chain barbecue, not a real hardcore joint. Sonny's started here in Gainesville almost 50 years ago and is still a popular spot.

This was my second time at the Sonny s and I truly enjoyed it. Great food and service. I highly recommend the family feast that easily feeds 3-4 people. Our host Bryan was really nice as well and overall we had a great time. I hope that they also make a more spicy sauce soon :)

There were no less than 10 girls working and I stood there 15 min waiting to give my order it wasn't that busy either then after ordering I went home to eat my$25 meal I got the rib sampler baby backs dry the dry rub ribs dry I got potato salad and Mac n cheese side I enjoyed the potato salad and my sweet tea was good I got the southwest egg rolls free with a email coupon they were also over cooked so a waste of time and hard earned money

Amazing food and service every time. We go there about once a week and everything is on par. Mel, Alisha, Jordan, Chad, etc. All these folks are awesome representatives of Sonny's. Thanks!

I had the baby back ribs. They were tender, flavorful and awesome.

Delicious fare, and the ribs are delightfully messy. (The pulled pork seemed to be just as tasty but much easier to eat.) Friendly, prompt service.

Great food, great service! The hostess was even kind enough to go looking for some dry rub when they didn t have any on the shelf!

The better option is Four Rivers across the street. Do yourself a favor.

Service was friendly and attentive, but relatively slow for a small afternoon dining group. Salad bar was OK, but half of the variety it used to have. The smoked meat BBQ was very good.

The food was amazing my server Justin H. provided awesome customer service.

The pork was on special and our waiter was amazingly mindful. Brought more drinks before we even had to ask, he basically knew what we needed before we did. The restaurant was also very clean with a nice ambiance.

Redneck egg rolls overcooked and greasy,but beer and wings were delish!

Food was good..the ribs could have been cooked a more tender.

Recommend the all you can eat option! Average cost around $15 depending on what you get.

BBQ great.. Brisket is good but really all that fat in the juicy one.. Could cut back a bit....

We walked in 30 minutes before closing on a Sunday night. The staff was very cordial and service oriented even though I'm sure they were hoping the night was over. The portions were good and tasty true customer service until they locked the door behind us..

Waitresses stretched to thin, Friday lunch rush was a mess. Took five minutes to get seated five minutes for drinks and 20 minutes for one sandwich and redneck egg rolls. All and all there was 3 waitresses servicing 203 customers.

Me and my wife Suzy loves 484 Sonny's. Food is always fresh and all servers is Super Awesome and Restaurant and Restrooms is always super clean.

I am VERY DISAPPOINTED from the Sonny's I used to LOVE! Don't waste your time or money!

I ordered 2 full slab combos. When I picked up my order cole slaw, toast and bbq sauce was missing. When I got home one of the full slabs had 1/4 missing I could tell it was torn off like if someone had eaten it. Disgusting! I spent $40 here to get a 1/4 eaten slab of ribs. Terrible. Never again. Make sure you check your order before you leave!!!!!

A solid 4.5 for this specific location. Nice waitress. Everything clean, including the ladies restroom. Since it was just the 2 of us, we ordered The Sampler. We normally get The Feast when there is 3 or more of us. The Sampler is only $15.00 and, just like The Feast, it has every meat they have. It includes 2 sides & drink. Fantastic deal. The waitress could have been a bit more attentive and when I asked for a booth, the Hostess put us in a half booth/ half table area. It was uncomfortable. The waitress forgot to bring us back a copy of our receipt after I told her to keep the change. All very minor problems, but... Room for improvement. The food was spot on fantastic except the corn bread which was cold and dry.
All in all, a pleasant experience. I definitely recommend.

The food is chain standard which you know is good and I always get good service when I sit at the bar. Only 4 stars because one occasion food is a bit off, and there is nothing mind blowing or innovative.

We ordered chicken and ribs and all you can eat chicken with sides. The food was tasty and service was great on the 4th of July. They have to go service and there's a bar.

If I could give Sonnys a Negative rating I would. The food was NOTHING BUT TRASH. From wet soggy vegetables, to Stringy Dry pulled pork....I WANTED TO PULL MY OWN!! I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN!!

Service and appetizers were fine. Unfortunately, the beef brisket that half our party of six ordered was dry and the bread was hard and old tasting. When they remade the sandwiches, there was more fat than meat. The manager took his time getting to our table and did not seem to care very much. All they did was take the sandwiches off our tab.

Missing part of my order tonight. Called to let them know and talked to the Mgr. He assured me he would make a new App for me. When I got there I was given the original App. It was lukewarm at best. By the time I got home all of the food was cold. Should have checked my order. Wish I had my $60 back. I even left a nice tip because I worked in the industry for almost 30 years.

Careless employees that take their sweet a** time. I was told 15-20 min wait and we waited for 45 min for our food. I also called twice to even let them know we were here to pick up and I watched them stand by the phone and wait 2 minutes before deciding to answer. And yes it rang for that long. Management is horrible at this location and when the issue was addressed I was told it was a simple miscommunication . Never again will we order from here!

Love the refurbished Sonny's. Great inside with amazing aroma of smoked meats. Service excellent and our meals mouth watering

SLOW AF... 30 MINUTES FOR BBQ...SHOULD HAVE GONE TO CHIK-FIL-A

The staff, managers and food are always on point here. They make one feel like you're out of town family. You know... when you havent seen that loved relative for years and just cant wait to make their stay amazing! Come here and thats just how you'll feel... Family

Service was very good, but the quality of food has gone down. Sides were unavailable (sweet potatoes) or way over done. Meat was pretty good. Need to step up in the kitchen.

The waiter Pat was awesome. It was his first day on the floor but he did a good job, he made sure I was taken care of and didn't hover too much.

The food was great too. Not all grill masters are created equal and the one at this location is one of the good ones.

They are mostly located at highway exit ramps now. Had to wait a bit longer for takeout but the garlic toast was kind of close to the original.

The new cuban sandwich is great. Hope they keep it on the menu. Service was excellent food was fast and good.

Sonny's in Gainesville to me is the gold standard of taste with BBQ sweet taste.
