The music was extremely loud. I felt like I walked into a 21 and under Hip- Hop club. The wait was so long and the food was not worth the wait. We started with the Dragonfly shrimp. Which was just really small frozen popcorn minced shrimp parts bites. (Now say that three times fast!!). I faked an emergency paid for what I had thus far and left..

My second time eating here, love it. The environment is alive, happy. The service was amazing, the food delicious. I came with friends who were first timers, and they loved it too. I definitely recommend it.

I came here for dinner on a Saturday night by myself and sat at the bar. 15 minutes later, I am seen by the bartender and given a menu. I ordered the oysters that are $15 for appetizer. I get the appetizer and it was 5 small pieces that were clearly double dipped in flour. It tasted like one oyster was cut in half to make another one. If you overprice food, the quality has to be as such. I then ordered the macaroni and cheese and the ribs. The ribs were good and tasty, but way too spicy for it not to be called spicy ribs. I like spicy food, but I would have like to have known they would be so spicy before ordering. The macaroni and cheese is DISGUSTING!!! I am from the south and nowhere should garlic go near mac and cheese, it overkilled and is not southern!! GARLIC MAC is not southern cuisine. It also had so much salt, I felt I was going to have a heart attack! YOU NEED A NEW MAC AND CHEESE RECIPE from someone from the SOUTH! Just not worth the money, and I received such bad service from a bar that had 3 bartenders. They dont work as a team, and are selective on who they give attention to. I came to check it out over the hype, and that's all it is!

My first time at SoCo. I have been trying to enjoy this famous place for months. But Mondays they are closed and certain times during the weekend they close the kitchen.
Beautiful place. The atmosphere and decor are inviting. The service is great, I had wings and while licking my fingers the server gave me wet napkins. I asked about food I saw on this website and my server gave me his opinion on each.
Soco will be seeing me soon.

Why in the world did I order fish and fries and got a table spoon worth of sause.

Best food I've ever consumed. Ask the waiter what to get and get that. Bond with the people sitting next to you over how good the food is. I'd die for that Mac n cheese. Great service from my experience, but I went at an odd time when it wasn't busy.

Sadly after the gentrification this place now sucks! The waiter was nice at first then we never see him again. The chicken was half cooked we returned it to the kitchen and wait another 30 min for him to come and order again. We spoke with the manager cos after one hour we didn't get the food. The manager was more worried about a babyshower event on the place than anything. We left without eat and we had to pay for the Mac and cheese and the drinks. NO TIP. NO TIP NO TIP. HORRIBLE SERVICE.

Great

We visited this restaurant on my bday weekend and I will sum up our visit. We waited for at least an hr to be seated. Once seated we waited another 15min to finally we stopped someone and told them our waiter hasn't been by. Then I order a $5 glass of lemonade and ice tea without ice, They bring a smaller than normal glass with ice out. I ask what was that, said because I got it mixed it came in that glass but would bring me a normal size glass out. Brings out normal size glass with ice. I send that back once again requesting no ice. Final time, they bring back Normal glass half full. Petty much. I said I was fine and would just drink water. Your prices are way to high for your portion size, You need to Cut It! Your service wasn't up to par, you need to Cut It! Especially since your food wasn't all that, you need to Cut It!!! We also ate at Amy Ruth's. They were swamped as well but it was a totally different experience!!! Amy it is any time I am in the NYC!!!!

I was disappointed with my take out order. I spent $57.70 wasted my money I ordered deviled eggs with chicken skin it had no skin it was the crumbs from the bottom of the pan that go in the garbage and was salty. The okra & tomatoes was bland no salt, no black pepper. I wanted jambalaya so badd I walked in the mist to be disappointed the rice was clumped together. I requested well done chicken wings they burnt them. This was my first & last experience here I was the least bit impressed. And it wasn't even crowded to say they rushed.

So went to the fantastic establishment on a whim of a girlfriend who saw them on Love & Hip Hop (or some ratchety show along that nature), thank God she stomached the burning of brain cells......because this place an 8th Wonder!!!!!!!

So my initial exposure was begun by contacting the restaurant to get reservations for a summer Friday night with Kathy (the manager), who was pleasant and attempted to accommodate my girlfriend and I. We arrive at SoCo I believe sometime after 8pm....on a summer night Friday, we asked for Kathy who recalled speaking with me on the phone and who joyfully seated my girlfriend and I immediately (Joy!!!). the star treatment continued with the waiting staff whom were extremely attentive and generally in joy to be working, mind you now they were packed we counted at least 3 large parties celebrating birthdays or some occasion but that didn't alter their service to smaller dinner parties.

Our server Tabitha (aka Tabbi) was fabulous with all her recommendations and and overall service. So we went with the stars of red velvet waffles and buttermilk fried chicken, collard green and mac n cheese sides. The drinks were to die for I tried a red lemonade, mardi gras and Bourbon Street Mango Juice (yes I know I need a program). The decor was simple yet modern and the fellow patrons were your standard Brooklyn flavor.

So if you didn't get the gist of my review I was thoroughly impressed by the staff and management, and my overall experience and food experience was above and beyond. SoCo is my new fav spot in BK........Chez Lola!!!! But SoCo's food, staff and management gets my thumbs up across the broad!!!!!!

This restaurant was suggested to me by a friend. So on their word we checked it out. Very disappointed. Expected better. First off we had a reservation for 5:30 pm, we arrive on time and there's a line outside the door. A bit confused at this point. We make our way in only to find out that the kitchen was in a meeting and would not reopen until 5:30 pm. Why would you have 5:30 pm time available if you new there was going to be a staff meeting. #strikeone

So we wait and the hostess must have asked us our name about five times. Like what's going on with your memory and why are you walking around with a piece of paper instead of an iPad or something that allows you to confirm reservations and mark party off as they are seated. #striketwo

So we are seated only to be asked to move to another table. Okay we did and manager comped us a free drink. #aplus

We move to new table, place our order, food comes out and it's cold ... like really? Nothing was hot it was as if it was prepared and sat in the kitchen for some time before being brought out. #strikethree

Food was mediocre at best. Definitely not a place I would go back. I think this place is supposed to be soul food or comfort food as there is a difference. I'm from the south and was neither. Needless to say I won't be going back here.

Wow, and wow, and wow, and wow... we went for brunch, and are trying to head back for dinner before we drive back home to Boston. You walk in, and the DJ's music hits you, and you're nodding your head while you walk to your table to be seated. Amazing atmosphere, and beautiful people... but the star of the show is the FOOD! Lobster and Shrimp grits... PERFECTION. Mac and cheese... PERFECTION. Haven't had the dinner yet, but you will NOT be disappointed in the brunch. All i can say is WOW!

The salmon and sweet potato was incredible, the ribs were juicy and delicious, and the dessert tasted great. The restaurant got a bit hot between the air conditioner cycle. Service was a excellent despite the fact we had a big party.

A friend of mine referred me to this spot. She lives in Brooklyn, I came to New York from Philly to celebrate my birthday and I Loved this place! The Ambience is amazing, the music definitely matched. Post Birthday Brunch and our waiter Aaron was the best. The entire staff was friendly and on top of everything. From water, to clearing the table. Will definitely be back.

If you like macaroni and cheese and you are reading this review thinking about going to Soco, stop reading and go immediately.

The entire menu is very tasty. My favorites are the wings and the ribs. The macaroni + cheese is also out of this world.

Soco has all day happy hour on Wednesdays. Food specials at the bar only include wings and the Mac and cheese but honestly that s all you need! The rest of the week happy hour is from 12pm-7:30pm

Happy hour drinks are margaritas, rum punch, sangria, wines, corona and red stripe.

A handful of TVs to watch sports. The staff is incredibly friendly and go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and enjoying yourself.

Yesterday was my first time visiting this restaurant and it was amazing. I had the red velvet waffles and buttermilk fired chicken. A place to visit if you want to be around a young professional Brooklyn crowd. The hospitality reminded me of what you'd expect further down south. I enjoyed the selection of hip hop music that you never get to hear in most public locations.

Was there this evening around 5:40pm. I arrived early for my 6pm reservations through Open Table and was seated right away. I ordered the red velvet waffle and chicken. The waffle wasn't as good as I thought it would be. The chicken was fried perfectly but tasted ok. Should have went for the lobster, shrimp and grits dish small but delicious was all I remember a few years ago when I ordered it then, even the mac n cheese and collared greens were good back then. Looking for another red velvet waffle and chicken experience.

When I arrived I wasn t too sure where to go, and I went inside but wasn t greeted. So I left back out thinking there was another entrance for outdoor dining. Just a little confused once I arrived, because I was surprised with this outing, I have been wanting to go here for a while. But I m always in mommy mode so I don t get out much. So my husband and I went back inside once we realized we needed to reserve a table and we were speaking to each other at the time we walked in and didn t realize someone had walked pass us and said hello, the young man who seated us snapped at us because we didn t hear him when he said hello. A very RUDE snap at that, and then he stated see how nice I am once you speak to me . It was uncalled for maybe he was having a bad night but the service was slow also and food got cold quickly because the outdoor dining thing has run its course. Maybe I ll give this place a try again, but the experience with the guy who seated my party threw me for a loop I wanted to leave after he embarrassed us.

First of, I will start by saying upon entry the Staff was incredibly hospitable and courteous. We overbooked and had a few more individuals than when we made the reservation. Thankfully, they were kind enough to get us seated without an extremely long wait for our desired area. The waiters were attentive and made sure that our experience was enjoyable. The part you are waiting for, the food is AMAZING. I have nothing else to say but go there NOW!! See for yourself definitely a nice ambiance . The service and food is consistent and never a disappointment. One of my favorites in Brooklyn. Parking is okay. You may have to circle around a bit but its not bad. The restaurant is also wheelchair accessible. For those who drink, there;s a bar with amazing people bar-tending so enjoy!

The food was was on point, the service was ok. I loved everything about the spot. Prices were a little high. I would've given the place 5 stars but the waitress didn't like her tip and decided to come back to the table and say "you guys know this is all you left right?!" Pissed me off

The food was not how I remembered at all, very lackluster and not worth the price. I had the chicken and waffles. The chicken was salty and the red velvet waffle was dry and a bit chalky. The lemonade was the new best thing about the visit.

The service was a little bit slow but that does not mean I will change my five star review. The place is very refreshing and the food is worth the wait. The mac n cheese was definitely the best everrr.
