Amazing customer service, everyone is pleasant and attentive. Food always comes out hot and delicious. Beautiful decor, a little noisy but you can definitely have a conversation with your party. I only wish the bar had an additional bartender, the wait time for drinks can be long.

Unfortunately we drove all the here for nothing, I was told there was a no cap rule, my cap was cute and pink and I don t understand why I would not have been able to keep it on, the atmosphere was very casual,

BOO...I visited this place 2 years ago and I really liked the place. I went here this evening with my God Mother and we were told no hats, this includes women to! My God Mother wore a hat for a reason. What bothers me about this rule is you have women out here that have medical issues, suffer from hair problems, you have women that may want to wear a hat rather than a wig. Because they have cancer or maybe a cancer survivor. So this bussines pretty much is saying that people should disclouse there medical issues to enter this establishment if you have a hat on especially women. Shame on this place I would never go here or recommend family, friends or co-workers to go here.

Wow who knows we have such amazing place in bedstyn Brooklyn. Everyone show come out and have a dining experience of a lifetime. From the moment you are greeted is nothing but a true upper pheromonminol experience. The greeters, the wait staff and the whole atmosphere it truly something to experience. It's a relax atmosphere. I'm the worst customer from hell. I have done at the Waldorf Astoria. I have dine at most five stars restaurant in New York and Soco is very comparable with all. Continue the such level of service. Great, great service. Keep up the excellent job. Go Brooklyn

Place was nice. It had a good feel. Service was interesting. For about twenty minutes, the waiters acted like we weren't sitting waiting to order, but when we got up ready to leave, we got service. And the service was pretty good after that. Food was good and served in sizable portions. And the prices was good too.

Good music and friendly staff. The mac and cheese is to DIE for . The chicken and red velvet waffle is delicious as well. I would recommend visiting when the restaurant first opens because it can get a little crowded, but other than that it s a good brunch spot

My Girlfriend made reservations for Sunday, January 27, 2019 for 12:00 PM.
We got there at 12:00 and they were just opening so we took our seats and I went to the restroom.
I came out the restroom and the music was so loud and absolutely not consistent with a Sunday genre we was in a full blown Breakfast/Brunch club. We kept having to lean in forward in order to communicate.
A party of like about ten individuals came in and each time this particular one downed a drink all members of that party screamed to the top of their lungs.
This happened about six to seven times of course we rushed to get out of their.
At what point does a Manager or waitress explains to these people that they're happy everyone is having a great time but can you guys keep it down so everyone can have a optimal experience as well, never happened!
Lastly I had steak with eggs and my steak was like bubble gum, very chewy. I'm uncertain if I would chance going there in the near future my experience there absolutely didn't reflect the reviews that I read before going there although the two stars are for the ambiance, the place looks nice.

Perfect place to eat and hang out. This place is what you'll call "Off the charts". No 5 stars can top the taste and flavors that explodes in your mouth when it comes to this restaurant. Every one should get a taste of heaven and it starts at Soco.

Sigh......Soco is a fond memory of what it once was.
I've been a patron for many years and it sadden me to say R.I.P. Tho the decor and the service is still up to par, the food has lost its flavor. The steamed mussles in habanero cream with Andouille is not up to par as well as a host of other dishes. I really hope they rekindle the magic that once was Soco, but until then I gracefully bow in remembrance.

Great food, great atmosphere, great staff, great drinks... I'll say one thing but it's not bad enough to take away the fifth star but I just wanna thow it out there, that it's kinda high price so expect to spend around $100 or more for two people... But I felt it was worth it

My family and I had a terrible experience in this establishment. My niece chose to celebrate her 18th birthday here and it was a terrible mistake. We had a reservation for 12 pm, which is also the opening time, we weren't let into the restaurant until 12:40 pm. We were also told that there was a $4 charge to choose white or dark meat as well as a $20 fee to eat cupcakes we brought on top of having to wait an extra hour to receive our appetizers alone. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

I absolutely loved this place. We ordered the lobster & shrimp grits and the grits just melts in your mouth. The deviled eggs were delish as well. Must go there asap!! It worth every penny!!

Been here many times and I have the same thing every time and it's always good. The red velvet pancakes have seemingly had it's sweetness lowered which was definitely great. However, the meal definitely seeming as though it was lacking something and that was a side! It would be good it came with a salad. Also, the chicken pieces have gotten smaller. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal and considered it filling. Anyhow, the reason SoCo gets 5 stars is because of the service and atmosphere. These things are great, the hostess is friendly, the live dj, the servers. There's a standard.

If you want good Southern Cuisine, this is the place. It is very friendly and staff is excellent. I am a pescatarian and I had the catfish. Try one of their Sangria's you will feel like your home. The DJ is awesome. Love it, won't be my last time going. Check out the website.

Always packed but we got seats right away. My dinner was chopped kale and romaine lettuce because the restaurant has no vegan options - very . But my friend said her salmon was good. Sitting back toward the garden, the music was way too loud. Had to try to yell over it to be heard. Uh, it's okay to turn it down a couple of notches.

My friends and I had reservations and got seated quickly. Made our order, one of our guest didn't get the drink she asked for; our waiter let her have it for free and got the correct drink. Got a chance to try the imfamous Buttermilk Chicken (Red Velvet waffle with Fried Chicken) and it was awesome. It's a mix crowd and alil loud at times but the overall experience was on point. Will come again.

It was really good, the service was great. I ordered the chicken & waffles & my boyfriend had steak Frites which was good as well. The serve I had name was Alina she was very nice always came back to ask if we needed anything . The drinks were so tasty she recommended the Brooklyn Bellini which was very good. We will definitely be back

This is strictly based on sitting at the bar during brunch..
so basically I hope the owner sees this as well but please hire 2 EXPERIENCED bar tenders and bar backs in your bar it will make such a great improvement!!! The bartender was saying matame matame as he was working which means KILL me!! He was obviously stressed and I see why! Because he has very little help! The bar backs did not even know what exactly goes in the drinks ( I was by myself had plenty of time to ease drop). It is never good to see workers stressed out.

Other than that this place is great!!! Th food looks so good, the atmosphere is amazing, very spacious, good loud music.. just hire experienced bartenders don t have just ONE experienced and some newbie bar backs ..

We drove from Philly just to dine at here and it was worth every bit! As I was humming eating, I thought I should have asked for something to take my plate to the next level. Little did I know it was already on my plate, "fried gouda cheese." Man oh man was it delicious. We loved food, decor and service. Now somebody tell me how to get them to open a restaurant in my up and coming neighborhood. Peace

Been to SoCo's about 10xs or more and I always order the salmon , green beans , and sweet mashed potatoes. The food is great but I go more so because of the ambiance. Sadly I'm questioning whether or not I will ever return. The portion/servings of the food is getting ridiculously smaller , and the vegetables are served cold , as opposed to the fish being fresh off the grill. I wish I knew how to add a pic to this post. The drinks have always had barely a hint of alcohol and I have always had to complain or send the drinks back. My latest visit this past Wednesday to celebrate my birthday was the last straw. Three years ago this was a "first date point scoring establishment" Today it's doesnt compare to a bodega that sells Hennessy shots after dark.
Stop ripping off the customers , put alcohol in the drinks !!!

Would give it a 5 star but the wait to be seat was ridiculous! Almost 2 hours and someone who wasn't reserved that came after us was seated. The waiter was annoying with his sale pitch of the appetizers. The floor manager was a bit standoffish, but oh well it was a tourist who he assume was about to ask if he was Kenya's husband...sorry boo I am not into new aged "celebrities." Anyhow the Lobster, Shrimp, and Grits was on point and deserves an A plus my granny would approve.

The food was absolutely divine! Had the pleasure of eating the lobster, shrimp and grits which were heavenly. The food was only trumped by the outstanding service. Coordinated effort, beautiful service.

We both had the jambalaya. It wasa pretty good dish with four big shrimp, chicken, sausage in a small kettle of rice. -pricey at 26 dollars and it was overly spiced and I felt the flavor was overpowering a bit, too. For sides we had the white cheddar grits which were good and okra which was not that great. . I ordered a Hibiscus margarita-the server brought me lemonade and I was not aware until the bill came. Big mistake seeing as I was looking at the cocktail menu. Oddly enough they kept asking me if I wanted a cocktail but could not get the order straight and brought me a lemonade. This was overselling and it happening at all tables-sort of tacky-When we did actually want to leave, we had to hunt down our server. She was pretty on the ball for the most part.
All in all, it was a good meal but not worth the price. Noisy atmosphere.

It was cool but I've had better. Wanted the chicken & grits with shrimp added, butt that wasn't possible, neither was getting a different entree with a pancake or waffle ADDED (for extra charge, not as a whole new entree). I ended up going with the chicken and red velvet waffle which was okay. The chicken was hot and fresh, but the waffle came out room temperature and was kind of bitter in taste. I've had at other places and they usually have some kind of cream cheese drizzle or something sweet to balance out the bitterness from the red dye. The only thing is really had going for it was ambiance which was dope.

Amazing and savory food choices. Sometimes they have a live dj and the mood is always intimate. Only negative to say is that you can t wear a hat while dining here but other than that, the food, drinks, and people are amazing!

SOCO .... SOCO

SOCO .... SOCO
I don't know how many relatives & acquaintances I have referred to Soco. It is always the first place that comes to mind when anyone asked me for a good nice place to eat. Nevertheless after my experience today it is with an heavy heart that I'm writing this review.
Saturday ... crowded place... understandable. I tried to make a reservation for my party online and wasn't able to. I called and the receptionist there advised me to still come. "You are more than welcome to come" she said. However, we drove for an hour to be told the place is too crowded it is most reservation that they are sorry. I mean she could have said... I'm sorry we are booked for the night but if you wish to come especially for a party of more than 5, please do so based on your own judgement. To me it only shows they have no respect for people time and money. The girl with the purple hair was nice enough but overwhelmed by the situation.
I hope management will show more respect next time when a situation like that present itself

I love patronizing black owned businesses but I was really disappointed by our visit tonight. I ll say up front that no one had complaints about the food. The problem was the service.

After we d been seated and had ordered food and drinks the hostess came over to tell my friend s grandmother she had to remove her hat because they have a policy against baseball caps.

Who in their right mind comes over to a little old lady to tell her that her rhinestone studded hat is inappropriate dinner wear at 6:30 pm on a Sunday night??!

Is Soco really so worried about its image that it s necessary to come and pick on an +80 year old woman to make sure she meets the dress code? And if it was that important, why weren t we told so when we came in?

TheI experience made us all uncomfortable. If we didn t have two senior citizens with mobility issues in our party I would have strongly suggested we leave.

(*Update: another review mentioned that there son was charged for a $6 bottle of water. Same thing happened to us.)

Thank goodness Brooklyn has plenty of other black owned restaurants for my friends and family to choose from.

The ambiance was soft and cozy.. a little dimly lit...the mac and cheese is a must..the chicken was perfectly fried but the flavour was not bold ..decent portions..great service though they do charge you extra for it in your bill..not a suggestion ..a must
